Talked to a third-party about your debt
Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) has called my home and spoke to both my wife and my mother in law. They gave information about my debit ( default Capital one card account was on auto payment not sure what went wrong ) to both and neither are on my account or authorized to discus it. On XX/XX/2019 my wife told them several times she was not on the account and that they should not be talking to her. They gave out my birthday to attempt confirmation it was my debit and then gave the balance, last payment, charge off month, and the card number. My wife does not recall but is pretty sure they gave last 4 of SSN as well. After my wife took down those notes to pass on to me my wife told them she was sure they broke the law by disclosing that information. The female supervisor told my wife that she KNEW THE LAW and was allowed to give it to her because she was my wife. She said that my wife should help me out and go ahead and set up payments for me. The thing is how do they know it was my wife? To prove this point when my wife was discussing it with her her mom the phone rang and it was XXXX again. My mother in law had answered, pointed at the phone, and winked at my wife. When they asked if it was my wife she said yes and they again told her the balance and tried to get her to set up some kind of payments.
XXXX called again XX/XX/XXXX and my wife took the call. They started with " The balance is $ $ how do you intend to take care of this '' They asked if she had discussed it with me and how we intend to take care of it pushing for her to set up payments. At that time she told them at this point because she is not on the card and we know they have in fact broke the law I would not be talking to them until I talked with an attorney. ( Side note this is my bill and I would have taken care of it right away ) At that time they said so you are not going to pay us. She said as far as we are concerned you broke the law and his debit should be null and void. They said you do what you must and we will also they could not stop the collection calls either. My wife hung up called and contacted Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and we are making this claim. Later that day we were opening mail and one letter was from XXXX. The letter was a PRE-LEGAL NOTIFICATION that stated we were sent another letter before this one ( we never got one ) The letter stated XXXX was considering sending this account to an attorney in our state for possible litigation. To please pay them.

Denied request to lower payments
Complaint: Ive tried to refinance my loan with capitol one because of my interest being so high. It was impossible for me to keep up I was drowning. I moved back home to try to save money and get back on my feet. I had health issues and been drowning in medical bills. I couldnt make my full payments so my car was repoed. Devastating to me. Been struggling for 2 years now trying to get out of this debt. The dealership sold me a lemon car and I couldnt afford a lawyer. Not only was it a lemon I didnt realize how interest worked. I didnt realize my percent was so high. I thought I got a great deal at the time but came to find out I was cheated. Please help. Unexpected increase in interest rate
Complaint: I have 2 Capitol One credit cards for 5 years. The due date on my Venture One Card was changed from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX without my consent increasing my minimum payment from XXXX to XXXX. I called and spoke with XXXX the supervisor and requested it be changed back and told him I couldn't afford the increase because my husband is undergoing XXXX and I have critical XXXX and have been in and out of the hospital. I have never been late on a payment and with my family 's current health crisis can not afford a random increase without justification.

Can't use card to make purchases
Complaint: I have XXXX credit line on my Capital One Savor card. I made a payment that was process on XX/XX/XXXX. It is now XX/XX/XXXX and i still do not have the available credit reflecting $ 500+ that was that was recently paid via deduction out of my bank account 4 days prior. I called the company and rep XXXX said we need to confirm with the bank the are close. I pleaded that all my accounts are in good standings. O balances never had a late payment or a rejected payment. Ive been a cutomer for over 6 years so why is there a hold on my account. All i get is " because its a new card '' my 5th capitla one cpital one card btw. Complaint: I was contacted by Capital One stating they were " restricting '' my account due to " suspicious activity ''. I was told to call a number and when I did it was just a voicemail which stated to leave a message and they would call back. I've left several messages with no return calls or emails. My paycheck was deposited this week and the bank said they would close my account and send a check within the next two weeks unless I paid {$20.00} to expedite the check ( which I told them to take from the funds of mine that they have ). I'm going on day 3 when I should have received my " expedited '' check and my accounts haven't even been closed. They have been no help whatsoever. Unexpected increase in interest rate
Complaint: In XXXX I received a letter from Capital One however I did not understand this letter. I could not find a definition of some of the terms found in this letter. I called the company and was told, there were changes being made to the laws regarding credit cards and Capital One was changing the terms of the contract to be in line with those new laws. I asked at that time about the interest rate. I previously had a fixed rate of 9.2 %. I was told at that time my interest rate would be fixed moving forward. I was assured it was part of the new law and was assured that it would be fixed. For sometime after this I periodically checked the interest that I was being charged and it did not change. When I opted for paperless billing I was no longer able to see the interest rate however believing it was fixed I really had no reason to look. Over the years I based my spending habits on that interest rate calculating the payment I would need to keep my balances at reasonable levels.
Fast forward several years. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX I was reviewing my balances trying to figure out why they were still higher that I had calculated. After clicking around a bit I found the problem. The interest rate was charging higher than expected. I called Capital One to have them recalculate my interest as I believed my rate was fixed at a lower rate than what they were charging. After speaking with them I was informed my contract indeed specified a fixed rate of 9.2 % and I was currently being charged higher than that rate. I was placed on hold and transferred to a new person. This person told me that my rate changed in XXXX. I asked for documentation. I was also told there were no notices found about a change in interest rates. I told them about the letter I received in XXXX and the phone call with them at that time that assured me my rate would be fixed. They said they could not do anything about the past but they could lower my interest rate back to the agreed upon rate temporarily. I made the comment about Capital One commercials back in the day and I felt this had been false advertisement. At this point I had to return to work as it was XXXX so I decided to get off the phone and call back later.
I called back XXXX and asked for a copy of the letter that they say changed me to a variable rate. I was asked where I wanted the letter sent. I provided my email. I was placed on hold, placed on hold again, placed on hold again, then told they couldn't find it. I asked them since they couldn't find it they could switch my rate back to fixed and recalculate my balances according to the agreed upon contract in their file. They refused. I was placed on hold and then spoke to the supervisor and asked again for the letter. I was placed on hold, I then spoke to the Supervisor again and stated, If the letter notification could not be produced then my accounts should be audited at the fixed interest rate and adjusted accordingly. I was placed on hold again but then when he came back abruptly told I would receive the letter in the mail in 7 to 10 days and was offered no further explanation. I attempted to gain information about the letter as to what I believed it had said but no explanation was provided there was just a long pause. When the supervisor came back after the pause he ended the conversation.
So many questions. Why I was told in XXXX the rate would be fixed? Why did it stay at the fixed rate for so long after XXXX? Why did it take an hour to find the letter, was the letter actually found? If it was found why it can't be sent by email? Will I really receive the letter that was sent in XXXX or if it will be a fake? Was what happened in XXXX was legal to begin with?

Complaint: My father, XXXX XXXX XXXX, opened up a credit card in my name using my social security number when I was just XXXX years old. I have not personally used this card and I do not have access to it. It is affecting my credit score. Complaint: I was shocked when I reviewed my credit report and I still found multiple inaccuracies on my credit report from the 3 major credit bureaus. I've attempted several times to ratify the issue with the original creditors and credit bureaus and they still reporting inaccurate, unverifiable information.
I see Last Reported date as well as Date Last Active is different from the three bureaus. It shows chargeoff and yet XXXX see balance and a past due in their reporting. This is a clear indication that the report is inaccurate. I demand this account be deleted immediately.

Problem with customer service
Complaint: I ordered a secured credit card through Capital one. I never recieved it so I called and told them I never recieved my card. They asked for my information, including address which they said was correct. They cancelled that card and sent a new one. Again, it never came. After my third attempt ( a month later ) and them verifying my address, I found out they've been sending it to the wrong address. I cancelled my business with them and asked for a refund. They said I'll be receiving X amount of dollars in 7-10 days. I waited 12 days and it never came. They cancelled the check and issued a new one. I waited 15 days for the second check before I called. I called twice yesterday and they hung up on me twice. I feel like I've been dealing with a fake company and now I'm worried about all my information falling into the wrong hands and my credit.
