Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I received a notification that a new inquiry had been posted to my credit file by the creditor XXXX XXXX XXXX. I did not apply for credit with them so I disputed the inquiry via XXXX online. I received the reply that it was considered valid and they would not be removing the fraudulent inquiry. I also received a letter from them on XX/XX/2018 stating they were dealing my credit request and that if I needed/wanted more information as to why that I needed to contact Capital One. An inquiry was done fraudulently and it was not done by myself or anyone in my immediate household.

Complaint: My oldest Credit Card had an annual fee of {$35.00}. I called Capital One and asked if they can change my credit card to a " no annual fee '' one without closing my old account. They said " yes '', and told me that they can make this happen by doing a " change of product ''. They explained to me that not only I get to keep my old account, I get to keep my old Credit Card number as well. After a month, I checked my credit score ( report ) and they reported it as a closed account. Not only it lowered my average credit age, it also lowered my overall credit score. This practice is misleading and unacceptable.

Complaint: XXXX has been non-compliant with removing the unverified account CAPITAL ONE BANK USA which has been deleted by XXXX and XXXX. XXXX and XXXX have both completed their research and determined that CAPITAL ONE BANK USA was not established by myself but XXXX keeps verifying this accounts. Also, when I called the company they responded that XXXX did not send them all of the verifying evidence to confirm each account is unverified.

Complaint: The ongoing problem that I have with Capital One is in regards to a fraud situation. While charges were authorized, the ability to use the card was predicated entirely on Capital One approving and applying deposits to the account. Without this approval, the card could not be used. Even though the account was restricted on more than one occasion, the deposits were approved. At more than one time, I was told that the only way the money would be credited was if Capital One spoke directly to the bank or the person who owned the account. Given the fact that the credits were applied and then consequently removed proves that they did not follow their own procedure. If they could not get this confirmation, then the credits should not have been applied.
Capital One fails to explain or account for their failure to properly verify the deposits in a timely manner. Deposits that were approved in XXXX were returned as late as the middle of XXXX, well beyond any reasonable 3-5 day turnaround time. By the time that I was notified of any issue with the deposits, the account was already used based on the positive confirmation that credit was available. It was not until XXXX before I received any written documentation, and that was after I continually pressed Capital One for information. The fact that they take no responsibility for the credits being applied because they use a clearinghouse does not remove any accountability. The extreme delay in the approval of these funds and the removal of the funds makes the approval of the subsequent charges their fault. Their stance that it is not their problem is wrong.

Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, we refinanced our home through XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, VA. In XXXX of that year, XXXX XXXX XXXX sold the loan to XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. In XXXX of that year, we re-financed again because we did not like the customer service from XXXX. We re-financed with XXXX which is now XXXX XXXX. In XXXX, Capital One purchased XXXX. In XXXX, we opened a second equity line with XXXX XXXX XXXX in second position. At that time, nothing was found during the title search. When the loan came up for renewal in XXXX, we applied for a renewal. During the title search, an unreleased loan through XXXX XXXX was discovered. I have the HUD Settlement statements from the XXXX loan and the XXXX loan showing that XXXX was paid as well as the letter from XXXX informing us that they had purchased the loan. I called Capital One to ask for a release. The customer service person was able to see the loan number and my name, but had no other information in the system. She refused to send a release. She said she would send a later explaining the situation. I received the letter today and all it said was " No information about the above referenced loan could be located. '' I need to have this cleared off the Title work for my home. It is particularly annoying as I did nothing wrong but this could negatively impact my ability to sell my home.

Complaint: I submitted an online application for a capitalOne savor credit card and after the process I was approved and received a {$30000.00} line of credit on the credit card. I immediately called capitalOne and stated that I did not ask for a $ XXXX line and said it was too high and that I wanted to reduce the line to $ XXXX. This call with capitalOne was 5 minutes after the credit card was approved online. I was told that if I reduced the line to $ XXXX it would adversely affect my credit score. I then requested to cancel the account and was again told that if I did it would adversely affect my credit score. I have an excellent credit score and work hard to keep it that way. I am a very frustrated consumer. When you go into a bank and apply for a loan you state the loan amount requested so why can a credit card company unilaterally assign you a line of credit on a credit card?
My issue : how can a credit card company unilaterally assign you a line of credit without first checking with the consumer and giving the consumer an opportunity to request that it be lower? This is an example of unfair credit practices and I feel that the CFPB should take action to protect consumers like me and to prevent unfair credit practices such as this one.

Complaint: Capital One and I have continued to have a tumultuous relationship. I have only had 1 credit card with them. Due to personal reasons, I was unable to pay the balance. However, I still paid them the balance, but they continue to send me notices from other debt collection companies stating I owe them for a card that I 1 ) do not have, 2 ) paid off in XX/XX/XXXX, and 3 ) was never actually supposed to pay due to XXXX XXXX XXXX and unemployment.
Their negligence and inability to provide proper service hindered my ability to return to XXXX XXXX in a timely manner, prevented me from securing housing at a pivotal time in my personal and business career, and to date, they have refused to acknowledge their faults.
Additionally, they are not working against me with XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX as well as another auto dealer in XXXX XXXX XXXX. These 4 actors are, to this day, refusing to take credit for their negligent and fraudulent acts that have kept me from securing personal loans, a business vehicle, and other necessities required to get my personal and business life on track. I refuse to pay, or be the victim of sedition and libel for mistakes of agents that are unethical.
The issues with my credit on the auto side originated at the XXXX XXXX branch. I met with a business banker and explained my ENTIRE business plan, and she, while kind, led me to believe that by doing a " soft '' credit check, there would be no hits to my credit by checking on a business vehicle. The actor following that transaction was XXXX " XXXX '' at XXXX XXXX. He promised he would not use my credit and only use the information on the form from Capital One. However, once I arrived at the dealership, nothing could be further from the truth. These two companies, and these two actors, in conjunction with one another, are the reason I don't trust banks, auto dealers, and based on how hard XX/XX/XXXX has been, the auto industry in general.
