Complaint: I applied online for a Capital One credit card on XX/XX/XXXX orXX/XX/XXXX and I was immediately approved. On XX/XX/XXXX, I was notified that my card had shipped. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email from Capital One stating that before I could activate the card, they needed to do one final check to make sure this wasnt someone else applying for a card in your name. The email included a link to take pictures of the front and back of my ID to confirm my identity. I tried the process 5 or 6 times, but I got a message saying that the process timed out. I called customer service and after over an hour on the phone, got frustrated and used another link in the email to find a physical address to mail my documents through XXXX.
My card arrived today along with a separate letter from the Customer Fraud Protection department requesting that I call them. I called the number in the letter and was told that a fraud hold was placed on my account, but they will not give me any further information about what triggered this hold. I am sincerely concerned that something like identity theft is happening and feel that I have the right to know what has happened. They refuse to give me any information. If a consumer is denied credit, the company is legally required to notify the consumer as to the reasons. As far as I am concerned, this may be even more serious, yet they are not required to give me any reason so that I can take measures to resolve it?
It is suspicious that a company would approve me for credit and then almost immediately place a fraud alert on the account.
I closed the account today and will never again do business with Capital One, but again, I am left in the dark if there is a problem with my identity. I am concerned that whatever caused this problem may happen to my other accounts with other businesses.

Complaint: I had opened Capital One Business credit card to finance my new business in XX/XX/2016. Business did not start too well, and I got late on my credit card payments. Once, my bank had returned the payment I made to Capital One, and Capital One soon after closed my Business account ( as charged-off ). A year or so later, I am in a better position financially wanted to pay off my balance to Capital One. I called to make a payment in full for the balance on the account, and was rerouted by an automatic service to a Law firm, supposedly Capital One had send my account to them to collect the balance owed. I never signed an agreement or opened and account with the law firm, so I had no interest in discussing my balance with them. I called Capital One, and after 2 hours on the phone and 5 transfers to different representatives, I finally had a conversation with a business account manager and was told that they will not accept my payment because the account was forwarded to law firm. The manager REFUSED to accept my payment that I was willing to make to the creditor I made an agreement with and opened an account - Capital One. I disputed this with XXXX as an account that no longer belongs to me, due to Capital One refusing to take my payment, which resulted in " account confirmed "!!!! I am furious because Capital One refused to accept my payment and XXXX did not remove the account from my file. Please help!

Complaint: XX/XX/ 2018 I made a purchase while abroad. That same evening I wanted to cancel the purchase however was unable to reach the merchant ( after store hours ) so I called Capital One to stop the transaction. I was told that Capital One could not stop the transaction and was given directions, which I followed. The next day, during business hours, since I was traveling and already out of the area, I telephoned the merchant, asking that he cancel the transaction. It turned into an unpleasant conversation. He told me to contact my bank and that he would stop the shipping.
In the ensuing three months of a dispute claim with Capital One, the merchant, in a response to Capital One, stated that I had in fact cancelled the transaction and that he did not ship anything to me.
Capital One, who initially took the charge off of my card, has re-billed my card for {$2100.00}. They've told me that the timeline for a dispute will be ending XX/XX/XXXX and that they can no longer move forward with the dispute.

Complaint: Capital One has failed to provide proof funds were received from a closeout check reissued on XX/XX/XXXX, delivered the following day on XX/XX/XXXX. Prior to this, a check in the same amount of XXXX was mailed on XX/XX/XXXX, received on XX/XX/XXXX, the day before I left for vacation. This check had a stop payment placed on it prematurely, Capital One reps did not allow enough time for first check to receive before placing stop payment, reissuing it. I left for XXXX XXXX the morning of XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX with XXXX XXXX XXXX picked me up, drove me to XXXX Airport at XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX can be reached at XXXX. I have attached a statement from Mr XXXX stating he picked me up on said date and time, the itinerary from XXXX is also attached. I spoke with a supervisor named XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, he stated if check was in fact intercepted and cashed by another party as it was then I am still owed funds by Capital One, he requested a replacement check. A reply from another rep, XXXX, states no check will be sent. Prior to this, I've requested Capital One review signatures on both checks, they will see signatures do not match. This was requested yet again, Capital One requested additional time to respond, then turned around and marked complaint as a duplicate. They fail to recognize this fact, my signature was forged, if they did so, they would have to reissue check.

Complaint: The company has failed to respond to the fact that they have failed to place the required " notice of dispute '' disclosure within the required 30-day period and did not furnish the credit bureaus with the required disclosure, within the period required by law. I have retained a copy of their signature and date of receipt, as well as a time-stamped copy of my credit reports, showing that they have violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Section 623 ( a ) ( 3 ) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Section 807 ( 8 ) by not placing the disclosure within the required 30-day period. I demand DELETION of this derogatory account from my credit file ( s ) with any or all credit agencies ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ). As this company has violated federal law, by not properly providing the credit bureaus with proper notice within the required timeframe, and I have evidence of such, via certified mail receipts, they must now REMOVE the item they are currently reporting. Any other action ( or in-action ) on their behalf will result in a small claims action against their company.

Complaint: i am dealing with identity theft. I called Capitol One XX/XX/2018 to close account that was fraudulently opened in XXXX. In order to get information about the person who commit the fraud like man/woman who talked to them seeing as how all lines are recorded for monitoring. They want me to send in a copy of my SS CARD, BC, AND Picture ID. When I asked why was someone able to open account without all this information XXXX ( capital one representative ) replied that you only need a SS # AND DOB. So, in order for me to retrieve information about when this account was opened, what the account number is, and what information was received they wouldn't allow it. I do not feel comfortable faxing over all this information seeing as how it was stolen in the first place.

Complaint: I had approximately 6 credit cards ( Capital One, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX and XXXX XXXX ) and with each of them I opted to pay extra monthly for " credit protection '' which claimed in case of identity theft or an unexpected event took place such as loss of employment, or injury occured my balances would be taken care of. After seven years of paying into said " credit protection '' following an negative occurrence which lead me struggling to keep up with my payments till eventually not being able to even meet the minimum payments ; the " credit protection '' was nothing more than a waste of money that did the opposite of protect my credit. It lined the pockets of the financial institutions and destroyed my credit. I had contacted my creditors numerous times, but it was a waste of time that led me from one representative to another.

Complaint: I am selfemployed. I had a capital one card for 10 or 12 years. I started using it for my business and I paid it off every month. I had to call after a few years of use because I seen where they had a points thing and I had been missing out for years on thousands of points. That was a little aggravating. You would have thought that them knowing what I was using it for they would have recommended it. Anyways. I messed my credit up when I was young and had finally worked really hard to fix all that. I was getting increases as my business got bigger and bigger. That was awesome. In XXXX the called and asked if I would be interested in getting an insurance that was XXXX on every {$100.00} dollars at the end of the month. Sounds like a good idea so I got it. After a while I forgot I even had it. In XXXX I got into a bind and didnt get payed on a couple of jobs and I was left with over {$10000.00} dollars owed. I forgot I had been paying that insurance all those years and I couldnt make the payments. When I did remember bout it I contacted them and they said it had gone out just a few months after I got it and had only paid like {$9.00} dollars on it. I requested they send me a copy of every monthly statement for the entire time I had their card.
Needless to say they where lying. I had paid hundreds of dollars over the years on that insurance. Even up until my last statement. It was XXXX XXXX dollars. I also found out when requesting my statements the had the wrong address for me on file. I always paid with my app and never knew it. Also I found out that over the years I had spent hounded of dollars on late fee peniltys cause as I said I paid with my phone and never looked at all that. I thought the payment was on the same day every month so for years every other month or so I was paying a late fee. And on top of that every so many years the fee would go up. In the end I was paying {$50.00} somethin dollars a month every other month or so. Now you would think that they would have seen that and said something but they didnt.
They said the program ended coincidentally a few months before I got into that bind and they gave another so many months to file but like I said I wasnt paying it by then and I defiantly wasnt getting their mail outs on that kinda stuff. End the end they would not let me file one the very thing I had been paying for all those years when I really needed it. Now when I really need good credit cause of a wife and XXXX children and XXXX more on the way I have bad credit. If yall could help that would be awesome.

Complaint: Good Evening ; I dont understand how you are continuously able to verify this account! I dont recall ever being associated with this company that is unknown to me. Also, Im a bit dumbfounded by how you were able to verify this account when the other bureaus were not and have removed it from my credit report. I'm not an expert on this, but I'm sure this is a violation either under FRCA or and FDCPA.
