Complaint: I have been a Cabelas XXXX XXXX card holder for XXXX plus years. I had one issue during that period that was easily rectified. In XXXX 2018 Cableas switch to Mastercard, during this transition I received no statement so I called them, I paid them over the telephone and mailed the remainder total amount due immediately that same day. I have never carried a balance over my 30 years of having a card. Since then I received a new statement {$1200.00} new balance, no previous balance, but includes an interest charge, {$59.00}! the interest charge they claim is based upon a pre-projected amount I usually charge of {$3900.00}!

Complaint: I was a victim of what some would call a scam that involved a motel called XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX, North Carolina. I was not given the type of room that was expected when I arrived on XX/XX/2018. Because the room was shabby and didn't meet my expectations so I refused to stay there. I've contacted the consumer protection agency of North Carolina about my experience and did not get satisfactory help. Most importantly my credit card company was notified immediately the same day about my problem. I was asked to submit all the necessary documentation to prove my case to Capital One so that funds would not be taken from my card for this motel. I sent more than enough information to prove my case but again was denied and therefor was stuck with paying for a XXXX dollar 2 night stay that didn't happen. I've been a customer with Capital One for over 10 years and have never asked for a refund on anything until now. I don't think Capital One had my best interest in this matter because like most companies it's not gon na benefit them if the money was not charged to my account. From all the negative feedback that I submitted from other tenants about this motel it was clearly evident that this merchant was scamming me for my money. Capital One did not care about this and did not give me the representation that they should have.

Complaint: This is my third CFPB Complaint, my account is restricted and I was told to verify my ID and SSN card, SSN form and I sent that over to them, however now their requesting a bank statement for a payment I made XX/XX/XXXX that cleared months ago, they are letting me know why they need my bank statement for a payment that cleared months ago, I did let them know I would not provide my bank statement for my privacy as it contains my private information and Capital One not telling me why they require it. I had this account for years and Capital One is treating me terribly with poor customer service, the person handling the case XXXX is not being responsive and not helping me with my case and I would like a manager and someone else to help me with this matter. I wanted to dispute some unauthorized charges on my account as well but I am not able do so because there is a restriction. I am also filling a consumer complaint with The Office of Attorney General XXXX XXXX because this issue has been unresolved now for months.

Complaint: OnXX/XX/2019 I came to a settlement with capital one for my credit card. The amount requested was {$5500.00} and I settled for {$3900.00}. I was advised via verbal communication and via letter that this account would be settled in full and I have satisfied the claim. The balance was reported to the credit bureau as me still owing {$1600.00}. I contacted capital one around the beginning of XXXX about the balance they are reporting and was advised that this would be updated on XX/XX/19 as settled in full. I received a new report on XX/XX/19 that showed Capital One reporting an increase to the amount. The new balance showed {$1700.00}. The report is still showing I owe a balance. I contacted capital one again and the representative I spoke to was not professional nor willing to understand nor help with the issue. The representative told me that is not how capital one works after I told her that when settling an account the balance should be {$0.00} unless they planned on collecting more, but being that they agreed to a settlement they cant do that. The representative continued to try to tell me what they were doing was not illegal and that was how they do it at capital one. She then tried to tell me my original balance was {$6000.00} and I only settled for {$2500.00}. When I told her I paid almost {$4000.00} she snickered so I snickered back to mock her when trying to explain again. She finally transferred me to a supervisor after threatening to hang up on me. The supervisor understood where I was coming from and submitted a request to another department to reflect my account at a 0 balance. The supervisor advised this department reports to the bureaus. I have submitted several disputes with the credit Bureau all of which they continue to not report this balance correctly. The statutory basis for the required update is FCRA 623 ( a ) ( 2 ), which imposes a duty on any furnisher to promptly update prior reporting so as to maintain its current accuracy. Once a debt has been paid to the satisfaction of the creditor, regardless of the amount they chose to accept as satisfaction of the debt, there is no more debt due to the OC, and no more debt subject to continued collection by a debt collector. Ergo, each must promptly update their respective reportings to {$0.00}.

The Card I had in XXXX was not a secured card. Recently in XXXX of XXXX I recently got a secured card with them with a {$200.00} dollar limit. Instead of Capital One reporting that I had a new Account with a new Card someone went in and changed the information on my non prepaid account to show that the old account in XXXX limit dropped to {$200.00} from {$300.00}. Complaint: Dispute Resolution Process- Capital One Card ( Visa ) The representative and supervisor stated that the dispute process takes up to 90 days- allowing the merchant to respond. If the merchant does not respond, the dispute status is changed from pending to resolved and closed. However, for my dispute the 90 days count did not start from the moment the dispute was made ( XX/XX/XXXX ). It was started on XX/XX/XXXX ( a date I was out of the country ). After speaking with the representative supervisor she said actually, the process takes 45 days. Then she said it took 30 days. I asked her why she went from stating 90-45-and then 30. She stated that 90 days is what is stated in the confirmation letter sent to consumers. But in actuality it is 45 days if the card is a MasterCard and 30 days if it is a Visa. I explained to her that I needed to have the correct information because I was pending a pre approval for a mortgage and the dispute was showing in my credit report as pending. I needed a clear date or a letter from Capital One indicating that they were waiting for the merchant to respond within 30 days and if no response from the merchant, the dispute would be resolved. She stated that she was not supposed to tell me that information. That she was " educating '' me. The practices of this Company 's dispute process are misleading as they are stating misinformation to the consumers and jeopardizing the financial opportunities to those that have been loyal customers to its business.
