Unable to open an account
Complaint: I am long time customer who attempted to open a CD with my bank-Capitalone.com. I contacted customer service after several online attempts to open an online CD. I was informed that I need a cell phone to receive a security code in order to open an online CD. I was explained that there is no other way to send me a security code, not via land line phone nor e-mail. I do not own an appropriate ( Capitalone.com ) approved cell phone. This is customer disservice, not to mention discriminatory. Apparently Capitalone considers cell phone ownership a secure means of verifying a persons identity. If security is genuinely the issue, then Capitalone should make the effort to be more inclusive. Instead of racial discrimination, Capitalone practices cell phone ownership discrimination. Can anything possibly be done to serve the customer instead of further encouraging a two class culture?

Complaint: I opened a Capital One XXXX XXXX account in XX/XX/XXXX because there was an offer ( code XXXX ) saying if I transfer {$50000.00} from other financial services company by XX/XX/XXXX, I can get {$500.00} bonus. After opening, I transferred $ XXXX from other banks to this account by XX/XX/XXXX. The terms said I will get the bonus within 60 days, but till today, the bonus is still not posted.
I contacted Capital One, and the agent told me I had a savings account with them and I did not transfer the money within 10 days of opening. I went back and looked at the terms more closely, and did not see the requirement of " within 10 days '' at all. All I see was open the account between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, and deposit by XX/XX/XXXX, which I did. The agent also said I had a savings account, but I don't remember that as well. Whenever I logged into my Capital One account, I only saw a credit card account I have with them. That was the only account I opened with Capital One before this XXXX XXXX account.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX XXXX I received a phone call from my husband threatening me, and letting me know he was gon na destroy me, hours after, all my devices were hacked, my passwords were changed and my private information was deleted, I called the police several times but as today Im still being hacked, I lost my job And I have no incomes to pay the credit cards, I called the phones companies ( XXXX , XXXX XXXX, XXXX ) in order to get some kind of help, but unfortunately I didnt get it. I have called the different companies to let them now about my situation, but the option that they provide are no really helpful according with my situation. They keep charging fees and interests, plus I still dont have access to my personal account, and every time I try to create a new one is been hacked again.

Complaint: To Whom It May Concern : Hurricane Irma hit Florida in XX/XX/XXXX, and Capital One was offering Hurricane Relief to its customers following the hurricane. I lived in Florida, and contacted Capital One to confirm. Capital One told that as long as I made a minimal payment ( less than the actual 'minimum payment due ' ) on my credit card each month, they would waive late fees.
I pulled my credit report recently, and Capital One reported that I made late payments on my account during the months of XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX.
I did make payments on my account each month, which is documented on the attached statements. These payments were less than the 'minimum amount due ' in accordance with the Hurricane Relief they were offering.
Capital One reported incorrect information to the credit reporting agencies, which has now affected my credit score and caused me harm.
If Capital One offered to waive late fees and accepted lower payments during their Hurricane Relief, they should not have reported incorrect and negative information to the credit reporting agencies.
I have been a loyal customer to Capital One, and always made my other payments in full and on time.

Complaint: Re : Accounts ending in XXXX and XXXX Capital One Case : XXXX CFPB No. : XXXX I disputed both account # XXXX and # XXXX with Capital One for these two accounts. Capital One sold both accounts to a collection agency. Captial One chose one account # XXXX to request back from the collection company and did not request the second one back. They both have the same dispute errors mentioned. I am requesting the specific reason as to why Capital One chose one over the other when both accounts have the same issue and are listed the same way.
How can this be fair business practices? I am requesting the details of why they requested this account be removed and returned to them and not both.

Problem with balance transfer
Complaint: This complaint is regarding a balance transfer with my Capital One credit card.
On XX/XX/XXXX i initiated a promotional balance transfer with my Capital One Venture card.
The amount was for XXXX. The fee was 2 %. ( {$140.00} ) The Promotion was suppose to be 0 % APR until around XX/XX/XXXX.
After the BT was completed, i was charged interest starting in the next pay cycle.
On XX/XX/XXXX i noticed i had to pay {$91.00} in interest.
I figured something was wrong, but i did not want to accrue more interest, so i paid off the balance.
On XX/XX/XXXX, i received a letter from Capital One letting me know they had made an error, and that they would refund me the interest, but charge me the {$140.00} fee.
By this time, i had already had to look into other solutions to pay off the deb so that i did not continue to accrue interest.
If Capital One had processed everything correctly, there would be no complaints. But they made an error, and i in turn made a decision not to accrue more interest on my card. They realized their error, fixed it, and still charged me a fee after i made corrections on my end.
This is not good business. They advertised a 0 % promotion, which i gladly accepted, and then they charged me interest. Then they said there was an error, and then charged me another fee after i took action.
I called them in early XXXX, got transferred 2x, and then spend an hour on the phone talking to someone that would not help waive the fee.

Doe admits he used mail fraud, a deceptive practice and has perjured himself by submitting false and misleading information via federal telecommunications and directly to a government website as demonstrated in the Capital One letterhead attachment to his online responses.
