Complaint: Since XX/XX/XXXX I have attempted to obtain a credit card. I am a XXXX year old, educated, responsible adult with a work history since I was XXXX y/o. I have been paying a car loan, on time for the last few years and have been working full-time for 3 years as an XXXX. The only thing I don't have is a credit card. The only derogatory marks on my credit report are the 4 banks that have attempted and declined my application for a credit card. The most recent being, last night, XX/XX/XXXX.
My attempts to resolve this issue have been exhaustive and to no avail including phone calls, written communications and prior inquiries through CFPB.
To summarize : Each time I apply for a credit card, my application is declined. Based on the information available to me, the reason is " inability to verify my identity with the credit reporting bureaus ( it seems with XXXX and XXXX ). In f/u with the credit reporting bureaus they assure me my file has been corrected and send me a complementary credit report that doesn't address the issue/my questions. Since I have no information, I then apply for a credit card and get declined. With this, another hard inquiry is added to my credit file and the process starts over. It is repetitive, frustrating and time consuming.
On XX/XX/XXXX, after receiving a mail offer and based on XXXX XXXX site recommendations, I applied for credit with Capital One. I then contacted XXXX ( Spoke with XXXX and the Manager, XXXX ). They were not able to verify my identity, therefore, were unable to provide me any information. They instructed me to once again, start the robotic dispute process.
How do you correct something, when you have no information? Clearly there is a disconnect, and something is not adding up. That said, it is my problem, and my problem to correct, but I can't get any information because my identity can not be verified. My requests/efforts, to speak or work with a single, knowledgeable and enpowered company representative who can actually work to resolve my concerns have unsuccessful.
At this time, I am frustrated that this process can even be legal. I have worked hard to establish good credit and can not allow this to wrongly impact my credit.
At this time, I am requesting : 1. A member of management contact me who I can work with from beginning to end to resolve this issue.
2. Access to and specific information regarding why my identity can't be verified. What is it, that leads to that message? What ever that information is, I want specifics and I want to see it.
3. I want all hard inquiries removed from my file - since the hard inquiries are related to not being able to verify my identity ( the credit card company says the credit bureau has to remove and the credit bureau says the credit card company has to remove. Here I am put in the middle of this no win situation. Again, a situation which I have no information about and can't correct ).

Can't use card to make purchases
Complaint: My Capital One credit cards have been in a restricted status for over a year with no separate adverse action letter sent. I called on XX/XX/19 to find out what was going on and was finally told that my accounts were permanently restricted and Id never regain charges privileges. The representative said the great news was that I could apply for another line of credit.
I was told that I was sent 4 emails regarding restriction notice but I keep all emails from financial institutions and although I received pat due notices, I have never received an email stating that my charging privileges would be permanently revoked or even at risk.
Capital One is deceptive in continuing to charge membership fees on an account I will never have access to again and in failing to communicate what restricted means and how/if restricted status could be lifted.

Complaint: I started a XXXX XXXX account in early to late XX/XX/XXXX and I had no credit score when I first created the account. In early or late XX/XX/XXXX, I noticed that I suddenly had a credit score and a credit card had been open under a fake name and what I assume a fake address. I tried contacting Capital One that night, but was not successful at getting ahold of a representative, because I did not have the account number or credit card number associated with the fraudulent account. I also noticed that an XXXX XXXX XXXX bill had appeared on my XXXX XXXX account along with XXXX. I have never been with either company. I have reason to believe that, the person may have gotten ahold of my social security number somehow. I'm in the process of contacting Capital One by mail and hoping to get this resolved.

Complaint: I Made full payments on XXXX on my credit cards to help raise my credit XXXX XXXX XXXX and Capital One, unfortunately my bank account was closed due to fraudulent activity and the paymentswent back then they decided to close my account with no questions ask didnt let me pay the balance not even to reopen my credit accounts they completely shut it down and sent it to collections, which has damaged my credit. Billing problem
Complaint: I successfully applied to refinance my spouse 's vehicle with Captial One. The company specified that I should continue to make payments with the previous lender as they process the pay off amount with them. The agreement also specified that the payoff amount may change depending on certain factors. We completed our last payment of {$300.00} with the previous company and Capital One provided them with a check for the pay off amount of {$7900.00} according to our statement records.
Currently our balance with Capital One is {$8200.00}. It seems our last payment with the previous lender was NOT applied to the loan.
I have contacted Capital One and the representative tried to tell me we should be receiving a refund from the previous lender. However, the previous lender says this is not the case.

Complaint: Attached I have XXXX card statements from my Capital One card. Each statement says XXXX points earned. I spent around {$2100.00} and {$80.00} and {$650.00} the last XXXX months. XXXX total points were given on each. However I should receive XXXX point per dollar spent. I am owed XXXX points.
Additionally, I reviewed my past year and you are to get double points on fast food restaurants. From XX/XX/XXXX2018 to XX/XX/XXXX2019 my family had {$1600.00} in purchases that qualify for double points.

Complaint: I sent three checks to different banks as payments of my credit cards bills.
My bank ( Capital One Bank ) returned these checks unpaid even though my account had sufficient funds to pay these checks. I am confused, stunned and surprised for {$5300.00} debt. I spent loads of time contacting GM Card, XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX, and Capital One to investigate the arrears of {$5300.00}. Because I did not use GM account since XXXX and I did not receive new GM card since XXXX. How could it be I use {$5300.00} from XXXX to XXXX.
2. I found that Capital One sold GM account to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, then XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX was sold to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX after I spoke to Capital One customer service.
3. According to my bank account statement, XXXX XXXX withdraws from my bank from XXXX to XXXX total amount is {$14000.00} + late fee of each withdraw {$2200.00} = {$16000.00} ( XXXX XXXX statement has 66 pages ) GM did not issue a new card to me, without my consent to take my money from my bank, and I also am unable to login online to check my account status because I don't have GM new card.
4. On XX/XX/XXXX, I sent totally 91 pages statement to Capital One and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX via USPS certified mail with return receipts. But I did not receive any response from both sites.
I reasonably believe that it is possible due to identity theft, or fault, or GM employee mistakes or any reason from XXXX to XXXX. But GM, Capital One, or XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX have liabilities to my loss.
5. On XX/XX/XXXX, finally I received XXXX XXXX statement I can see GM took my money {$1800.00} and plus charged me let fee {$35.00} for each transaction. Totally {$2000.00}.

Complaint: I have a Capital One Platinum Credit Card. Last year I was going through financial hardships because I was in between jobs. I could not make a payment on one of me credit cards right away and missed the payment due date.

Complaint: I have an Credit Card from Capital One. credit limit was {$3000.00}. XXXX I used the card up to {$3000.00} and was paying minimum payment due. the card was stopped by company and account closed. I was still paying minimum due. Suddenly I received the statement for {$6000.00} I called Capital One representative to enquire about the charges and requested that how some one can use closed account card and over the credit card limit and use it for {$3000.00}. I requested for an inquiry. Which they promised that they will start an inquiry.
In between I called Capital One many times every time I got the answer that they are inquiring the case. Now I got a letter from collection agency that they represent Capital One and I should pay the amount otherwise they will take me to court. Complaint: I have 2 credit cards with Capital One, I have credit protection which should suspend my payment for 6 months, which I just called to activate. The agents are documenting inaccurate information, I suspended my auto draft payment and money is still being removed from my account.
