Complaint: My credit card account with Capital One was closed, a balance of around {$5800.00} or more left on it, well over my credit limit in the amount of {$5000.00}. I do not have account number available to me at this time. Prior to this, I attempted in good faith to lower payment amounts/work out a payment arrangement. Capital One does not offer any hardship program, did not offer any kind at the time. There are several fraudulent charges on the account, I attempted to make these arrangements despite these charges. The live chat rep at the the time would not cooperate and stated to wait until a recent payment posts before making any kind of future arrangements, a prior CFPB complaint was made pertaining to this and against that rep in question. The account was later charged off due to failed attempts at lowering payments and resolution of fraud charges, account sent to an attorney here in Connecticut. The attorney was offered a settlement amount of which I do not recall, however, he did not accept it. On XX/XX/2018, a close out check in the amount of {$4200.00} was sent from Capital One via XXXX, intercepted by a third party and cashed in my name fraudulently. This amount represents the remaining balance in the Capital One 360 Checking account. I was in XXXX XXXX at the time check was left at my address, intercepted by third party and cashed. I did not receive any of the funds, numerous CFPB complaints made pertaining to this issue and unresolved, Capital One will not reissue check or investigate further, despite information I provided showing I did not receive funds. If Capital One will mark my credit card account as paid in full with a XXXX balance, I will consider this matter as resolved. If not, Capital One will not see any payment on account as again, there are fraudulent charges which were made on it and I am owed {$4200.00} for intercepted check. If they will accept this amount as payment in full, this will resolve both issues. Failing to accept this offer, Capital One will not see any payment on account and additional complaints filed in regard to intercepted check and funds owed to me. I believe this is a fair offer

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, someone obtained my personal information and fraudulently opened a Kohl 's credit card in my name, as well as applied for 2 other store credit cards with out my knowledge. The Card was sent to my address, as well as a letter in a separate envelope from Kohl 's stating they couldn't verify my information, and suspected fraud, yet they continued to open the credit card anyways. I was completely unaware of any of this. I check my credit on a weekly basis, and nothing showed up on my credit until a week after the events occurred. I contacted all three credit bureaus to place a fraud alert for one year on my credit file. I called Kohl 's to let them know of the fraudulent activity. They said they would close the account, and make the inquiry a soft inquiry instead of a hard inquiry. Then a few days later the Kohls credit card showed up on another credit bureau, which I will now have to contact them again and have that removed as well.

Complaint: My XX/XX/XXXX Capital One credit card statement showed my balance was {$3200.00} with a due date of XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I paid the balance in full ( {$3200.00} ). On XX/XX/XXXX, I was assessed an interest charge of {$40.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, I called Capital One customer service to inquire about the interest charge since I had paid the balance in full by the due date. The first person I spoke to said she could not determine why I got the charge and then consulted with someone else. One hour later ( put on hold numerous times ), the other person told me that interest was charged from the time the statement came out ( XX/XX/XXXX ) until the day it was paid off ( XX/XX/XXXX ). I then asked what the purpose of the due date ( XX/XX/XXXX ) was if interest was going to be charged from the day the statement was sent and not the due date. The rep said I had been under a 0 % interest rate for 12 months but the promo expired on XX/XX/XXXX. I asked how I would've known that interest would've started accumulating that day and not after the due date as it is with most companies?? She advised it should have been in the welcome packet I received in XX/XX/XXXX ( over a year ago ) when I opened the account ; she said they don't provide any notifications on the statements. She refused to remove the interest charge and when I asked to speak to someone else regarding the issue, I was advised I would have to call back and get someone else. I then called back and asked for a supervisor again who also refused to remove the interest charge. I explained I thought it was a deceptive business practice to begin charging interest on the date the statement was sent and not after the due date. I then requested to close my account if that is the way the company operates and is unwilling to credit an interest charge ( that should've never been applied ) for a good customer. They promptly closed my account without trying to retain me. I do not think it is fair for me to have to pay the interest charge and am requesting it be removed. I would've paid the balance in full on the day I received the statement if it was stated that I needed to. I never pay interest fees on any card. I feel the way they are handling this promo and interest rate period is very deceptive and an easy way to get unsuspecting customers to pay an interest charge as soon as the promo ends.
