Problem with a lender or other company charging your account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Transaction was not authorized
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I received an email from Bank of America of a debit card transaction for {$2300.00} at XXXX XXXX. I received that email at XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. Immediately I went on my Bank of America app and locked my debit card. I received an email from Bank of America at XXXX confirming my card was locked while I was on hold with the Bank of America fraud department. Once I finally got someone on the phone I told him I did not make that transaction and it's weird it got approved. Anytime I've ever made a big purchase my card ALWAYS gets declined and I get a text message to call Bank of America to approve the transaction. When I bought a LV purse and wallet online it was declined I want to say 3-4 times for the same transaction and each time I had to call my bank and the XXXX XXXX store. When I tried to buy XXXX XXXX in XXXX my card got declined twice and had to call my bank. So how did a {$2300.00} transaction just get approved with no consent? The fraud specialist said he did not know but would put that claim notes and would have to cancel my debit card. He said it could take up to 90 days till they reach a verdict on giving me my money back. Earlier this week I called Bank of America fraud department to follow up on my case and they said XX/XX/XXXX I should receive a " temporary credit '' of {$2300.00} until they get feedback from the merchant. I have even tried to call XXXX XXXX and they would not give me information about the transaction and says my bank will have to contact them. Then today I get a email from Bank of America denying my claim. So I called Bank of America asking why the claim has been denied they say it just seems suspicious the claim happened on the same day I got paid. I'm not sure why that matters and I asked them have they got any feedback from XXXX XXXX they have not but decided to deny my claim anyway. I call back today and ask for documents on why they came to this decision and I need this for the police report I'm filing today and they decide to reopen my claim but I will not receive a " temporary credit '' of {$2300.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. After I filed the police report and gave them copies of my bank statement, emails of everything I have regarding the claim I go to the Bank of America local branch and have the police report faxed to their fraud department. A few hours later I call the fraud department again and ask if they received the fax. He says it may take serval days for the fax to attach to my claim so I asked him if he can put in the notes the Police report case number and reporting officer. He jotted my information down and says it may take 45 days for them to reach a decision. I feel like I'm just getting the run around about this, Allegnt Travel I looked it up and it is an airline company. How hard is it to call them and find out who booked plane tickets using my debit card number? This has put me in a tremendous bind and I'm scared to even put money in my account to cover my bills this month because I'm worried of this occurring again and Bank of America will be no help. Being a 12 year customer with Bank of America I don't feel like this acceptable at all. I called and locked my card soon as I was notified of the transaction within 7 mins of receiving the email I don't understand why they are dragging their feet on getting this resolved.

Managing an account

Checking or savings account: Savings account

Deposits and withdrawals
Complaint: My husband and I own a joint savings, and 2 joint checking accounts with bank of america. I am the primary on one of the checking and he on the other. On XX/XX/2019 I got a notification that our savings was below {$25.00} so I quickly logged into our account to see very unusual activity. The activity consisted of {$1900.00} transfer from our joint savings to the checking account where he is the primary account holder. I immediately called in to Bank of America to report this. The {$1900.00} that was transferred into the checking was then moved out of our account via XXXX transfers of {$100.00} each, ( 19 transactions in total I believe it was ). Whomever was in our account then went back into the savings and completed 2 or 3 more {$100.00} XXXX transfers. All of these transfers went to names that both my husband and I do not know nor did we authorize them. Bank of America put an immediate hold on our accounts at this time and told us to visit a banking center the following morning as it was close to their closing time. Saturday, XX/XX/2019, my husband and I visited the bank of america banking center in XXXX, NH at XXXX. We met with an employee there and he worked on our accounts for the next 2 hours. We closed all 3 of our accounts and were issued 3 new accounts ( 1 savings and 2 checkings ). We were told that our fraud investigation would conclude on Thursday, XX/XX/2019. They agreed that these transactions looked very fraudulent as we could not even begin to pronounce the names listed and we have never once used XXXX before. I called the Bank of America fraud department for check ups numerous times to ask if there is anything we can do as our mortgage is now going to be late ( was due XX/XX/XXXX ) and other bills are now started to be late as well. They assured me the investigation would be completed by XX/XX/XXXX. Sure enough it is the end of the business day on XX/XX/2019 and we still are missing a ton of money. I am on unpaid maternity leave in 2 weeks and need to this figured out immediately. We are now going to ( according to bank of america ) be stuck with late fees for the payments we can not make since our money is missing for over 2 weeks.

Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Complaint: I received an offer for 0 % interest and I used the check to take advantage of the offer. Bank of America charged me fee and 18+ % interest rate instead of the offered 0 %. I lost over {$1100.00} dollars. This is a follow-up complaint to XXXX which described the initial issue. On XX/XX/19 I received a call from a representative of the company who claimed that he look into the original complain and that I was never offered the 0 % offer. In addition, he claimed that the offer I described was for a different credit card. I did include a copy of a similar offer that came from the second credit as an example but it was misinterpreted by BoA employee even after I explained it. I do not believe that the employee ever looked into my issue and was simply trying to get rid of the complaint instead of helping me resolve it. I informed the employee on the phone that I have a copy of the original offer for the disputed credit card but he did not even attempt to look up my account or asked e to email it to him. He finished the call saying that he will be in touch. The only offer he made was that he was going to call BoA Marketing to extend the 0 % offer to me which does not make sense since I already received that offer and I used it just to find out that I was overcharged. My issue is that the company did not honor its commitment and overcharged me by over XXXX dollars before I was able to pay off the balance. I have been a customer of BoA for 21 years, I can not imagine how they treat others.

Fraud or scam

Money transfer, virtual currency, or money service: Virtual currency

Complaint: I had an online friend ( XXXX ) real name he told me was XXXX for 2 years that scammed me with a money flip scam over the internet. He was very persistent and kept telling me he had a really big job as a XXXX XXXX and he made XXXX every 2 weeks. He recently bought a house with a girlfriend and that's why he needed money for food. He first asked for XXXX he was giving me options and finally we settled through XXXX using my bank of America account he got really excited about XXXX. I didn't think at the time why XXXX but now I found out that XXXX unlike XXXX has XXXX fraud protection. He then said this was my chance to make some big money so I should send as much as I can so then I sent XXXX. He said he would give me XXXX XXXX XXXX on Thursday. Then literally the next day he told me to be a good friend again and send him XXXX dollars so he could take a plane ticket to go see his girlfriend because her mom just had a XXXX XXXX and he wanted to be there for her. He said if I didn't help him with XXXX there was no way he would be able to pay me back but if I did give him the money I got get back XXXX so I thought about it and realized I was already XXXX dollars in with this guy 's scam and was scared because he threatened to not pay me back if I didn't comply so like an XXXX I did again. Right after he scammed me out the money he started avoiding me and blocked my phone number I tried a million times to explain to him that if he needed money he could've just told me and I would've helped him with what I could. But instead he decided to scam me out of all my money and now I feel like an XXXX thinking I could've made XXXX. I tried calling XXXX and reporting what happened but they said they can't do anything about it. I tried telling them that I have proof of what he did and they know both or accounts and the proof coincides with the text messages but they want to treat the scam like its not a scam and I just decided to openly give all my money to someone I've never even met with or he wasn't tricking me to giving him everything.

Complaint: I reported unauthorized charges on our credit card account XXXX and Bank of America did not even investigate our claim and didn't send any correspondences, they just sent one letter stating they denied our fraud claim. I read from numerous places and have been told that Bank of America has a practice of not investigating claims and quickly denies claims. This is an unethical practice and we should not be treated like this

Problem with a lender or other company charging your account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Money was taken from your account on the wrong day or for the wrong amount
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I deposited a check into my Debit ( Checking ) account. I have proof of deposit. On XX/XX/2019 my bank took that same amount of money out of my Checking account ( On the statement it reads : Debit Adjustment Duplicate Item reversing deposit made on XX/XX/19 as duplicate it em. followed by a reference number and ISN number. ). It shows a minus sign ( signifying withdrawal ) followed by the amount listed. The issue is simply that the amount was not a duplicate deposit. It was deposited only once. I have proof in both documentation form ; via receipts, my bank statement and photographs of balance changes, as well as proof from witnesses at the bank branch itself who saw all of this information, found it confusing, contacted customer service over the phone and still werent able to get it solved. I also contacted, upon one of the employees recommendations, the customer service specialist number provided in my mobile banking app ( unfortunately, they also werent able to understand or solve this issue ). So, I have an already withdrawn amount to my bank for absolutely no verifiable reason.

Complaint: In reference to # XXXX I received communication from the thoroughly dishonest Bank of America. XXXX not just to me but to officials of the US Government. I believe that is a crime. I object to the 60 day response period. I object to the bank saying they could not verify my identity. Really? Last I am in possession of an e-mail from Bank of America that proves they are lying. Either that or they can not do simple arithmetic. Not only do I want this resolved in my favor I want the CFPB to open a class-action as I am sure the bank has injured thousands and thousands more. Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: Attached please find a second copy of my FTC Identity Theft Report which I mailed to all three credit bureaus and emailed to Bank of America on XX/XX/XXXX after being advised by the FTC to submit it along with copies of my driver license, social security card and most recent utility bill with a letter that outlined these same accounts which I attached. The accounts are Bank of America acct no. XXXX and account no. XXXX. After speaking to the FTC again today after receiving a report with the accounts still listed I was directed by the FTC to file another complaint. The FTC directed me to a section of their website called Knowing My Rights ( attached ) under subheading pertaining to credit bureaus which states : Get credit bureaus to remove fraudulent information from your credit report. This is called blocking. You must send them a copy of your FTC Identity Theft Report, proof of your identity, and a letter stating which information is fraudulent. Then the credit bureau must tell the relevant creditor that someone stole your identity. Creditors can not turn fraudulent debts over to debt collectors. I am attaching. I have done this and mailed this information on XX/XX/XXXX the credit bureaus are ignoring it. I have also sent My FTC Identity Theft Report directly to Bank of America. Under the FTC section Knowing Your Rights, Communicating With Creditors it states : Stop creditors and debt collectors from reporting fraudulent accounts. After you give them a copy of a valid FTC Identity Theft Report, they may not report fraudulent accounts to the credit reporting companies. Apparently neither the credit bureaus and Bank of America are ignoring the Federal Law and continuing to report fraudulent accounts. According to what I have been told by the credit bureaus and by the FTC Bank of America will not remove these accounts because XXXX and his XXXX friends linked these accounts to the only account I had which was my checking account and made payments until XX/XX/XXXXat which time he was caught by a XXXX County Sheriff ( 2 reports attached ) and dumped. Also noted on my FTC Identity Theft Report is fraud with Bank of America dating back to XX/XX/XXXXwhen my purse was stolen in XXXX XXXX, and closed down and a new checking account opened in person in XXXX, Texas. There were no credit card accounts. Please remove these accounts.
