Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I received an email inviting me to upgrade an existing American Express XXXX XXXX credit card to the XXXX version of the same family of cards, with a bonus of XXXX XXXX XXXX points after spending {$4000.00} within three months of opening the card. On XX/XX/XXXX I upgraded my account to the XXXX, completing the spending requirements on the same day in a single transaction. According to the terms and conditions of the offer, the bonus points should post within 6-8 weeks ( so, XXXX XXXX at the latest ). On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted AmEx 's online chat support to inquire about the points posting, and was told by the customer service representative that a 'case ' would be opened since no such upgrade offer appeared to be attached to the account. I was told that a resolution may take 6-8 weeks ( so at the latest, XX/XX/XXXX ). On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted AmEx by phone to inquire on state of the case and the missing points, having never received any contact since XX/XX/XXXX. The rep asked me to upload the upgrade offer to a document-submission website, and I was told that a resolution should take approximately two weeks ( so, XX/XX/XXXX ). On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted AmEx once more by phone to inquire regarding previous cases, to be told AmEx had deemed the matter a non-AmEx problem and that the only solution is to submit another resolution request with the same information - expecting another 4-6 weeks for a resolution. I noted that I would be submitting this information to the CFPB for review, as AmEx does not seem inclined to resolve the matter directly.

Complaint: Hello, My name is XXXX XXXX. I was just recently under financial review with American Express. During this process, American Express has significantly lowered my credit limits to low amounts that can cause substantial reporting issues with my credit report. I have been a member of AMEX over several years and never missed a payment, never held a high balance and also used my credit with the highest responsibility. Upon notice of the financial review, I had a hard time trying to reach AMEX staff upon this matter due to me Being XXXX overseas with the US Government and Military. I made several attempts to let AMEX know of my situation. It finally took 3 weeks to reach someone after constant leaving voicemails of my matter. AMEX financial review never picked up my called but left a voicemail for me to respond to. Apparently, this financial review was initiated for pay pal purchases that I have made to start a Business project. Upon charge, I immediately made payments in full of each transaction totaling {$13000.00}. I do not like to hold Large balances on Amex Cards and so I made payments immediately. ( I attached statements ) Once I was able to finally track down what was the issue, AMEX wanted to see financial documents that would show my network and liquidity of my assets. I agreed to prove, however, there was an obstacle I had to face. I told AMEX I have over 10 Checking and Saving accounts within all my assets and broker accounts totaling {$200000.00} if not more. Amex, however, responded that they can only allow 2 financial statements for 2 financial institutions. I believe this action limited my ability for AMEX to allow to see my full financial assets which in turn allowed AMEX to wrongfully Lowering all Credit limits one all cards as well as putting a strict guideline in payment terms. I Have over 10 different checking and savings bank accounts with an average of {$5000.00} - {$30000.00} each. Amex only allowed 7-10 days to provide 2 financial documents. If I managed to move all my assets to one account it would have taken weeks of planning to make this happen. Also my status of being XXXX overseas with the US Government and military limited my ability to allow this to happen. If AMEX doesn't allow someone to be transparent with their financial assets why are they limiting my ability to provide all my financial assets to allow my accounts to stay in good standing as well as leaving my credit limits back to the way they were. I feel like I was wrongfully assessed on this matter. My history with AMEX has always been great with on-time payments and responsible credit usage. However, I felt they have wrongfully assessed my situation. Prior to Financial review, I had all credit limits and accounts in good standing for many years. I have a total of ( 6 ) credit cards only ( 3 ) below are affected. Accounts bellow that has changed XXXX XXXX XXXX Platinum Charge Card Original Limit ( Preset normal can vary from $ 1- $ 50k ) Lowered to {$13000.00} Personal Blue Cash Everday Original Limit {$20000.00} Lowered to {$3300.00} Personal XXXX Honors Cards Original Limit {$7000.00} Lowered to {$3300.00} All other accounts have remained the same with no changes.

Complaint: Hello, 1. Due to negative balance, AMEX issued credit balance refund check for {$1200.00} on XX/XX/2019. 2. Since we are out of USA, we called AMEX customer service to inform that they need to cancel this check and credit the amount to our account. Promptly, AMEX cancelled the check and issued credit for {$1200.00} on XX/XX/2019. 3. However, due to an error on their side, they issued another credit balance refund check for {$1200.00} on XX/XX/2019. 4. We again called AMEX customer service to inform that they need to cancel this check and credit the amount to our account. 5. However, as of date, in spite of multiple calls, and after AMEX agreed to cancel the check and issue a credit, AMEX has not done the needful and our account still shows balance of {$1200.00} + fines and late fees. 6. AMEX has now threatened to report me to credit agencies and also have reduced my spending limit. Please see attachments : 1. Complaint: I believe American Express is illegally billing for late fees and interest. I have been billed for late fees and interest even though my payments arrived in time, which they acknowledge. Their policy is that even if the consumer made the payment prior to the due date on the statement, they charge fees and interest based on when the bank actually cleared the check. I have written documentation from them stating this is their policy. How can a consumer be charged fees if they sent the payment in on time? It is out of the control of the consumer as to when a bank would " clear '' the check. In my case, it was several days after my payment had been received by American Express. How can this be legal?

Complaint: American express refused my application for a new card after being a card holder in XXXX and XXXX for over 48 years. I have only a minuinmal credit report based on 1. no activity and 2. education payment by one of my children AND 3. Just returning to USA after working for years out of the country. So American express simply rejected my card transfer. OMG after years of good credit with them. And offered no help, no interest, nothing. There policy is so terrible and the credit report is so so misleading. And they should no interest in check y credit ith them or any one else over the past 40+ years. That rejection has causes me great embassment and many problems. I also have great credit with banks in XXXX and XXXX and other credit cards with great credit. The Amex system is unfair and wrong and misleading. The situation is costing me money and other problems having to use cards regester in other countries.

Complaint: I stopped using my american express card 4 months ago and american express actually you owed me money {$210.00} which paid back and they still owe me cash back money. Today I get a balance for {$3600.00} under " adjustments '' so I called amex and they could not give me an explanation of what those adjustments were coming from so they gave me a reference ID number XXXX and that it will take up to weeks to resolve this investigation. I have not used this card in 4 months, where are these adjustments coming from? 6 to 8 weeks to resolve what? unacceptable.
