I did not give permission to be added as an Authorized User on these accounts and I respectfully request that I be removed. I have contacted American Express directly to have me removed from these accounts, however I have not been successful.

Complaint: In the mail, I saw a letter addressed directly to me from American Express, stating that I qualify for XXXX bonus miles with the expectation I spend a certain amount of card spend within a given time if I sign up. I thought that was great, so I chose your card. Over the last 5 or so months I have put 10 -15 thousand dollars on that card, paid on time. Despite spending over the minimum, I never received my bonus miles, so I decided to call in a month or so ago, and the agent said that my miles are on the way and to just wait 8 12 more weeks ( spend more money on the card ). I waited weeks and spend several thousands more, and called again today to see if the miles were to be included soon. On that call, I come to find out that I never even qualified for the bonus miles, Amex had known from the beginning that I would not qualify because I owned a similar card years before. No one ever told me I didn't qualify, they just kept saying to wait and wait and the points are on the way. This was very disappointing, and in my opinion a very unethical business practice. I would have canceled this months ago and signed up with another had I known this to be the case. For starters, If they knew I had a similar card before and knew my address and name, they knew they were offering me something I didnt even qualify for, hoping I would sign up, spend a lot of money and later find out because of a rule I was unaware of, that I would never even earn the miles. I never would have signed up had they not sent me that letter, I would have put my 10 -15 grand elsewhere. On top of that, because I was told by their agent that the miles were on their way earlier and I waited and waited. Not only was I misled into signing up, I was misled into keeping the card longer, therefore being coerced into spending thousands of dollars on a card under the premise of false promises. I reached out to Amex after all of this and they said they would do an internal " investigation '' that would take 6 -8 weeks and during that time I would have to keep my card active. Meaning once again they just want you to keep the card keeping spending money and never actually give you points.

Complaint: American Express is violating the ECOA that requires them to provide specific reasons for taking adverse actions. I applied on XX/XX/XXXX for an American express credit and was approved. On XX/XX/XXXX, I receive a vague email from american express : " We want to let you know that after a recent review of your American Express account ( s ), we have cancelled the accounts referenced above because one or more of these accounts, or other accounts to which these accounts are linked, have been identified as not being used for the intended purpose. '' When I try asking for specifics what they are referring to me to they refuse to answer and stand behind their technical agreements which provide they can cancel the card for any reason. This is the 2nd time they are doing this to me. They did this a few month ago on another card, Just abruptly closing it with the same letter. I complained at that point to the CFPB and amex refused to answer with specifics. Just the above mentioned email in no way explains in any shape or form SPECIFICS about why they closed it. This is just a broad general statement. I begged them to explain specifically what transaction they think was not used for the intended purpose, they refuse, standing behind legal gibberish. American express is violating ECOA. @ Amex What about basic human decency? We had a relationship for about 18 years. Just terminating it without providing detailed specifics smacks of corporate detachment from basic human decency. @ Amex Perhaps this is just some corporate bureaucracy issue and my concerns have just not reached the right individual at Amex. If that is the case, this time around kindly forward my concern to the proper authorized corporate individual at Amex that has the capability to respond properly.

Complaint: On a number of separate instances over the last few months, American Express customer service employees lied to me about the benefits of a credit card they wanted me to pay more for and upgrade to. They told me I would get complementary airfare credit this year, but instead, the airline ( Delta ) - after I signed up for the card and went to use the benefit - said American Express had lied and that was not true, and that I could not have a credit.

Complaint: I received two prepaid reward cards from American Express as rebates for items purchased from XXXX XXXX. The first was received in XXXX for the value of {$75.00} with an expiration date of XX/XX/XXXX. The second was received in XXXX for the value of {$80.00} with an expiration of XX/XX/XXXX. I have purposely held on to both cards, along with others, for a specific purchase. When I went to use the cards XXXX of XXXX at XXXX XXXX, the cards had XXXX value. I called the number on the cards, which was American Express, and was told that due to non-use a {$2.00} fee had been charged each month depleting the funds. They did state it was in the disclosure sent with the card and was also printed on the back. I will admit I did not read the back of the card as I thought this practice ended with the card act in XXXX. Regardless, this practice is wrong and somewhat deceiving as you have an expiration on the front of the card which suggests the value of the card is good until this time only to find they are already taking funds from the card for non-use. American Express stated there is no way to replenish the funds and it is my loss. Basically, you snooze, you lose. I feel this is a very unfair and deceptive practice. The card act talks about this practice and the unfair practice. I feel I should receive the {$150.00}. Card numbers XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX

Complaint: My prepaid card was charged XXXX for a fraudulent purchase. The purchase was Made at a XXXX in a city I have never visited. After communicating to American Express Serve that this was not a valid purchase the transaction was approved anyway. I filed a claim for fraud with American Express Serve and was told it would be resolved by the XXXX of XXXX. I never heard back from the company. I called on the XXXX and was told to check back on the XXXX. Checked back on the XXXX and was told to check on the XXXX. Called back on the XXXX and still no resolution. They will not share the findings of their investigation via email or phone. I just want my money back.

Complaint: I notified American Express and I reported my credit card lost/stolen but I told them there was no fraud activity on that card number ending XXXX ( the new card number ) and the next day I was trying added this card to XXXX XXXX and American Express has blocked my card for fraud in which is false and told me I need to fax in some documents back to them in 15 days ... and I explain to them I dont have any ID or social security card to send them over and I have a police report and they refused to accept that neither nor the supervisor would and i have the police report from XXXX XXXX police department # XXXX and once again they refused to accept it ... I will be closing my account in about a month this is the third American Express has put my account in fraud review

( Please see page 14 of the attached credit report. ) I make regular monthly payments to American Express Platinum, over the minimum amount due, every month and I have never missed a payment. The monthly payment due is {$890.00} and I am making payments of over {$1000.00} per month. This account is reporting a past due balance of {$6700.00}, with a minimum payment due of {$6700.00}. How can my regular monthly payments of {$890.00} escalate to a minimum payment due of {$6700.00}? This miscalculation has triggered a late reflected on my credit report and consequently this account has been charged-off. How did American Express calculate this past due payment? According to the American Express Platinum website regarding payment calculations past due amounts can not just increase thousands of dollars unless there was a missed payment. As I stated above, I have never missed a monthly payment on this account. American Express Platinum is reporting lates but can not provide a specific date. There are no lates to report. The inaccurate reporting of this account is a direct violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and is harming my credit score. This information needs to be updated to report accurately on my credit report.

Complaint: I had spoken to a gentleman in the AMEX collection department Rep Id # XXXX about a week or so into XXXX. The call was recorded so the exact date can be found. He told me that my past due amount on my personal loan account was {$670.00} and that would bring me up to date. He also told me that after making that payment and bringing the account up to date they would be able to remove at least two of the return check fees. I scheduled a {$670.00} payment for XX/XX/2019 that was processed and posted. I received a call from XXXX XXXX from the AMEX collections department a few days after the {$670.00} payment posted for my AMEX personal loan. He told me that my account was not up to date and that a payment of {$320.00} was still needed to bring my account up to date. I told him that the last gentleman I had spoken to assured me that the last amount of {$670.00} brings me up to date and that at least 2 of the returned payment fees would be credited. XXXX XXXX confirmed that the information provided by the prior gentleman was not correct and the chances of having those two returned late fees credited is very slim and needs approval by a higher department. I was clearly lied to by representative # XXXX to get a payment for any amount. In addition AMEX had attempted to pull funds out of my XXXX XXXX Account 9 times unsuccessfully due to insufficient funds. If the funds were not available I believe 9 attempts is excessive, but unsure if that particular protocol violates any laws. I was not properly notified of these withdrawals and 9 times seems to be excessive when funds are not available. Each time my bank declined the transaction not allowing for any overdraft fees or a payment to be processed. Despite the denying of these payments by my bank I was charged a {$39.00} returned check fee 9 times. I believe the following things and this is why I am filing this complaint : 1 ) Not properly notified of the 9 attempts to withdraw funds out of my account 2 ) Lied to by a representative about the payment amount due and reversal of fees 3 ) Unscrupulous collection tactics and what seems to be a toxic culture in the AMEX collection department.
