Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: My complaint relates to the way American Express investigated our dispute with XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) in XXXX Missouri which started in XXXX of 2016. Now that the dispute is a year old American Express has closed it. Throughout the dispute process we were told to contact XXXX in order to come up with a resolution. WE attempted to do this. However, once American Express paid XXXX, XXXX would not return our calls, emails or snail mail. American Express sent us documentation sent to them from XXXX which appeared to indicate that we used the third party time share exit team XXXX XXXX XXXX. We were unable to use the XXXX XXXX exit process because XXXX XXXX asked us to sign a totally blank enforceable agreement form which we refused to sign. XXXX then told us that we could drop out of the process. So the amount of money that we charged on our American Express card - {$2.00}, XXXX which included {$750.00} for XXXX XXXX XXXX should have been refunded back to us. American Express did not do this because XXXX told them that we owed them {$2.00}, XXXX. XXXX knew that we did not use XXXX XXXX XXXX and when XXXX XXXX XXXX from XXXX was talking to us he referred us to another time share exit team, XXXX XXXX XXXX, also in XXXX,. So we opted not to use this group either. So we opted not to use this group either which according to Better Business reports, was under investigation. So we opted not to use this group. We tried to open another dispute with American express with the {$750.00} amount subtracted but American Express said it was too late that they had already paid XXXX. XXXX has our money which means that technically we are members of this group but they have not communicated to us in any way to even acknowledge that they we are technically members of XXXX even though we do not want to be members and only joined because we were told that this was the only way we could access the exit team that they could guarantee would get us out of our XXXX resort time share. Unfortunately, the XXXX promises that we were depending on were all verbal. We understand that according to contracts that we signed with XXXX we owe them some money but not the money that went toward a time share exit team that we clearly did not use.

Complaint: In XXXX 2017 I applied for two AmEx products -- XXXX and XXXX. Both were subsequently approved. After receiving my cards, I jumped through a few hoops to verify my identity and began using the cards. I especially used the XXXX card to meet the spending threshold to receive XXXX Membership Rewards Points. Approximately one month after using the cards, I received a message telling me my cards were suspended. I immediately knew why -- American Express decided to conduct their infamous " Financial Review. '' I 've read countless horror stories about this prior to applying for these products. They did n't bother me because most of them involved circumstances that do n't apply to me. I know American Express claims they do this as a " sound business practice, '' but when reviewing data points, it does n't seem like it helps because in recent quarterly reports, XXXX and XXXX showed the strongest performance when it comes to overall portfolio health ( chargeoffs, loan debt, interest income, operational cost ). They both surpassed American Express, and they do n't conduct the infamous " Financial Review. '' After learning my suspicion was correct, I contacted AmEx and it was requested I submit documents requested by XXXX XXXX, 2017 or my account would be closed. When speaking to the representative, I told her to go ahead and close my accounts because I was not interested in playing American Express ' game. She insisted that she did not want to close my accounts and that I should just submit to the review. She won the day, so I acquiesced. I do n't receive any taxable income. My income consists of Social Security, Roth IRA and child support I receive because I am the legal guardian of my granddaughter. ROTH IRA draws are not taxed because they are originally contributed post income tax ; I do n't exceed the threshold for SS tax and ROTH IRA withdraws do not count toward the threshold ; and support income is not taxable. As such, I am not required to file taxes and much to American Express ' dismay I 'm sure, there 's no tax transcripts for them to poke through. I submitted bank statements to American Express approximately a month ago. Since that point, my accounts remained suspended and I heard no reply. I received several phone calls during this time, but they were messages telling me they needed the Social Security number for an authorized user -- which they already had because the account was duplicative. Today, XXXX XXXX, 2017, I received an email from AmEx telling me my accounts were canceled. If I said I was shocked, I 'd be lying. I 've read how American Express conducts business, and this was par for the course. However, I 'm concerned about two things. First, this was done without communicating to me why and without any communication from the people in the ivory tower who conduct these reviews. In addition, I was told I had until XX/XX/XXXX to complete this, and this action was taken on XX/XX/XXXX. It would be nice if AmEx reopened my accounts, and that is my request, but I 'm not naive or delusional enough to think that 's going to happen. I 'm not going to fret if they do n't. There are plenty of other card issuers available, and most are in better shape than American Express -- especially after hemorrhaging from their loss of XXXX portfolio. Instead, the main purpose of my complaint is to receive the XXXX membership rewards points and to create one more entry in the complaint database against American Express. Sure, it 's just one more complaint, but it gives one more piece of information to regulators to reel in the credit card industry from engaging in the egregious act of summarily closing cardholders ' accounts with no notice or explanation. Surely the industry realizes that the days of this practice are coming to a close, and as soon as the Orange pretend President, Donald, is impeached or resigns and the country is cleansed of Republican greed, a Democrat will take action to curb these abuses.

Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX XXXX, I already qualified for the XXXX bonus miles with my American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card ending XXXX SkyMiles Account : ending XXXX with more of {$1000.00} within the first 3 months of Card Membership. The miles have not been Accredited to my account and it 's been 6-8 weeks after I reached the spend threshold. I opened the account on XXXX XXXX and completed the requirements the first week of XXXX 20017. I called American Express Customer Services XXXX several times and the Account Representatives explained different reasons and excuses all the time but they do n't give me any results. There is a case open XXXX but they do n't have any resolution. I 'm trying to purchase a Delta Tickets but I need the miles to be accredited to my Delta SkyMiles account in order to purchase the tickets. This is the reason why I opened the credit card. Complaint: I opened an American Express delta skymiles card in XXXX with a promise of XXXX miles if I spent {$1000.00} in four months. I did that. I waited the 6-8 weeks it said for the miles to post to my Delta account. They never did. I called Amex onXX/XX/XXXX and was told this had happened to other people. They opened a complaint investigation and told me it would be resolved in a week. It was n't. I called back the following week and was told it was actually 7-10 business days, and would be resolved the the end of that time. It was n't. I called back today and was told the investigation takes four weeks. I spoke to a manager, who could not explain why the earlier representatives told me other times. He could not correct the error even though he cvould see that I had qualified. I know this is a minor complaint, but this company has failed to fulfill their terms and misinformed me multiple times about remedy. I feel like this stuff always happens to me and I 'm sick of it.

Complaint: I want to terminate my American Express Card on the XX/XX/XXXX and I scheduled my final payment for the XXXX of the month.
I have rewards that I earned and that I want before terminating the card. American Express will not give me my rewards. I previously filed a complaint # XXXX because I filed a dispute against XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX as they fraudulent billed my credit card for {$150.00} for a tow truck, ( the car I rented stalled and would not start ). American Express received the complaint on XXXX XXXX, 2017 and as of this date has not resolved the dispute. I filed a complaint with the State of Hawaii Consumer Protection Bureau and received no support for my claim of Fraud from American Express. I no longer want this card ; however I do want the rewards that I earned over the past 10 years. I have exhausted myself resolving this dispute alone, without the support of American Express who has taken far too long to resolve this matter. Their merchants are more important to them than their customers. I have had it.

Complaint: American Express Delta Skymiles sent me offer of a gold AMEX card, offering {$50.00} credit for qualifying Delta purchase and XXXX bonus miles providing I spent a certain amount in a certain time frame. Both offer obligations were met by me and American Express customer service agents as well as the manager have confirmed this to be the case and agree 100 % that I SHOULD get the {$50.00} credit and the XXXX bonus miles. I called on XXXX XXXX, 2017 and spoke with XXXX, she confirmed I should get the miles and $ credit within 7 business days. Case was opened, case # XXXX. Nothing received, so I called on XXXX XXXX, 2017 and spoke to someone else, they said case was resolved on XXXX/XXXX/17 and they should be fulfilled ( miles & dollars ) by XXXX XXXX, 2017. I checked on XXXX XXXX, 2017 and nothing, so I called again and insisted on speaking with the manager. After 30 mins of waiting on the phone, I spoke with the so called manager, XXXX, and she said there were " technical difficulties '' in fulfilling everyone 's bonus miles and dollars, said it had something to do with XXXX XXXX and delta airlines, said it should be resolved in a week. A week has gone by, and it 's XXXX XXXX, 2017 today and just called and spoke with XXXX. Same old, same old ... .yes, I have met my obligations, but there is still problems fulfilling what was promised to me. REALLY American Express Delta Skymiles???????????????????????? I have never thought that American Express was this sort of a company where promises are made and then they hoped I would just go away. Next time, keep your offers to yourself and I can assure you I will TEAR UP EVERY SINGLE OFFER THAT COMES MY WAY. Lost ALL faith in this company.

Problem during payment process
Complaint: Please refer to my previous complaint XXXX on X/XX/2017 This a fresh or new complaint about the same card product.
I have added this card into my userprofile at americanexpress.com which already had my blue rewards card.
When i have all my cards added to my user profile - why did n't the new card ( Delta Skymiles card ) are having auto pay setup as per the user profile? and Amex can not have the excuse that we have to verify the bank account or user might wanted to pay using some other way - that 's all lousy excuses. Moreover I have constant issue with the customer service chat : 1 ) I can not save, print or sent the chat via email - every other financial institution let me do that - why not Amex? Is Amex does n't want to be on the record?
2 ) As per AZ law every conversation that i am part of should be recorded by me - if Amex is recording the chat - why not me?
3 ) And why it is so difficult to reach the customer service? Almost a wait of 9 minutes on the chat. Is this what Amex is bragging about JD Power Customer satisfaction award?

Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Complaint: After 23 years of membership, AMEX changed the terms of my membership WITHOUT notice to me. I was a Platinum card owner and had no preset limit and had the extended payment option on my account. I made a {$2500.00} payment last billing cycle with the written understanding from AMEX that my account had the embedded extended payment option. Recently, I received notice from AMEX that my entire balance was due and AMEX charged me a {$38.00} late fee. AMEX also charged me {$450.00} to renew my card. I called AMEX on XX/XX/XXXX and told them to cancel my membership immediately as of XX/XX/XXXXand provide me with my balance. I made 2 payments last nite. One for {$3000.00} and the next for over {$6900.00}. I asked AMEX reps if the balance included the renewal fee. AMEX confirmed that the balance given to me did NOT include the {$450.00} membership renewal fee. This morning, I checked my accounts online and AMEX defauded me into believing that they did not charge me a renewal fee. I now have a CREDIT balance of {$780.00}. When I asked AMEX on XX/XX/XXXX, why they lied about removing the {$450.00} renewal fee. They told me to file a dispute online. I want my {$780.00} refunded to via wire transfer immediately. AMEX should not get free use of my money when they clearly defrauded me by lying about my account balance and renewal fee.

Complaint: I recently contacted the CFPB to dispute a late payment that American Express is refusing to move for XX/XX/XXXX. I did not have additional documentation at the time but have gathered my statements. American Express is claiming they are reporting the information correctly, that my account was 30 days negative for this month. However, my statements show consistent payments during this time. I have not disputed the accurate information from previous late payments, only this one that was made in good faith to get back on track with my bills. My XX/XX/XXXX payment was received XX/XX/XXXX through the agency, and my credit report shows it as on time. My XX/XX/XXXX payment in question was received on XX/XX/XXXX yet it is marked as late. AmEx has not even reported payments after the XX/XX/XXXX, evidenced by the screenshot. When I try to correct this, I always get told about the integrity of the credit report, but it appears to me based off my statements and the other months on my report that AmEx is more concerned about saving face than admitting to an error.

Complaint: XXXX XXXX is reporting the last 3 months late. Im actually enrolled in a consolidation program that is making monthly payments to XXXX XXXX so there is no way this account is behind. XXXX XXXX XXXX has a late mark for XX/XX/XXXX. Not only is this over three years old, but I have been in college for the last 5 years and finally graduate next year with my XXXX in XXXX XXXX XXXX. This is incorrect as I have not been required to pay my student loans while still in college. XXXX XXXX XXXX, my Credit Card was stolden in XX/XX/XXXX and I was issured a new credit card. Somehow my credit card doubled in just late fees and became out of control. I tried to work with the company but they would not offer any financial assistance programs to lower my payments as I was willing and wanted to pay but just couldnt as it was made impossible by XXXX XXXX. I then set up XXXX XXXX in the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX as requested by XXXX XXXX we made a {$60.00} payment to be considered for this debt program so I could make lower monthly payments. However my XXXX bill reflects the {$60.00} payment, but was immediately turned over to a C/O when I already made arrangments to pay. I was not given any time to make this account right and have the hundreds of dollars in late fees removed so I could actually pay the credit card company the amount I charged. Now over half the bill is just charges, no actually charges were posted to this credit card after my replacement credit card in XX/XX/XXXX. 2nd XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, This account is currently enrolled in XXXX XXXX XXXX and has been paid every month on time. There is no late payments as XXXX XXXX agreed to be enrolled in the debt program and get monthly payments like XXXX Credit card. American Express account was closed in XX/XX/XXXX and charged off in a bankruptcy that is over 2 years old. This doesnt not need to negatively impact my credit score or have any negative comments as this was not a neglected account. I was granted a bankruptcy by a judge which I paid for the bankruptcy so I wouldnt have late payments or a charge off reported. I tried to do the right thing with what I was able to do at the time. I just got this American Express card and my exhusband got ahold of my credit cards and maxed it out. Once I was divorced I filled for thousands of dollards in debt do to my 4 month marriage to a XXXX XXXX that took advantage of my perfect credit. I 'm still paying for that short mistake to this day. XXXX XXXX XXXX-XXXX DOCKET #, there is no benefit to any for this to be displayed on my credit report. It state date paid was XX/XX/XXXX. Please remove this

Complaint: I have the American Express Business Platinum card ; a card that carries an annual fee of over {$400.00}. The reason I pay that huge amount is to be able to use my Membership Rewards points to book travel on XXXX. However, I have not been able to book online on the website. I have tried going so twice ; once about 4 months ago, and again on XX/XX/2017. Every time I try to book a flight on XXXX, COMPLETELY covering the travel with my membership rewards points, the final screen says payment failure and I am unable to book. I have called in, and the travel team has indicated that this is a known problem and they are " working '' on it. They can book it over the phone, but it is an incredible hassle and waste of time waiting for them to answer the call. Moreover, the " amex member '' pricing, which gives a discount on the published fare for booking with points, is not accessible to the phone representative. THAT IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE ANSWER FOR THIS PRODUCT ; this is clearly illegal and misleading advertising.
