Trouble during payment process

Mortgage: Home equity loan or line of credit (HELOC)

Complaint: Wells Fargo Mortgage is claiming ( again ) that several payments have not been made. Last XXXX , I filed a complaint abou t four consecutive online payments that had been stolen, XXXX , XXXX , XXXX , and XXXX XXXX payments. This was resolved through CFPB. Wells Fargo is again claiming that payments have not been made ; XXXX and XXXX , XXXX , in the last XXXX statements. All payments are being made by check at a local branch, with th e WF account number, the month being paid for, and specifying payment to principal, interest, and escrow. I make a copy of each check and retain the receipt given me by the teller. Once the check clears, I print out a screen shot of the cancelled check. I was told by a legal advisor that this is the only form of payment I should make, so that a check can not be " lost '' in the mail. I am being called twice daily, on both my land line and cell phone, and being sent letters saying I am missing payments. I made a phone call in XXXX and was told that it would be corrected, which it was not. All of my payments are current, and I have copies of the cancelled checks.

Closing an account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Can't close your account
Complaint: On XXXX XXXX , XXXX , around XXXX , I called to close my Wells Fargo checking account. I was surprised that all I needed was the account number and the last XXXX of my social. Those XXXX numbers do n't provide very much security to my account. An identity thief could easily get access to them. I would have expected verification of address/phone number, full social, mother 's maiden name, and maybe online account password. I did n't even need a pin. I did want to close my account, just want people to be aware of the lack of security with Wells Fargo.

Problem when making payments

Credit card or prepaid card: Store credit card

Problem during payment process
Complaint: I have an issue with Wells Fargo Financial National Bank, XXXX . I live out in the country and sometimes have difficulty getting my mail. I went online and signed up to make my payment on line through Wells Fargo. W hen you go to the make payment section it request your bank account and amount you would like to pay. I select the monthly amount I owe and send the payment. Today I received a paper statement and this time I opened it, ( I usually do n't because I make my payment online. ) The statement said I owed a {$37.00} late fee. I was charged a late fee because I was making my payment early ( in advance ). I did n't know that was not excepted by Wells Fargo and have never heard of a late payment fee for an making an early payment. I contacted Wells Fargo and spoke to XXXX ( e mployee # XXXX ). She said that the fees could not be credited back to my account for making early payment and I was charge {$110.00} in XXXX and {$74.00} in XXXX , # XXXX each time. XXXX said I should have read the fine print and Wells Fargo w as not at fault and she could n't credit my account for the charges of ( Making an early payment ), I ask to speak with her supervisor and she said she was as high up as I could go and refused to provide me with a name or phone number of someone who could assist me with this problem. I ca n't believe in XXXX when most people are late or do n't even make payments at all, Wells Fargo was charging me {$37.00} a month for making my payment EARLY! I Hope someone can assist me with this or please let other consumers that Wells Fargo is taking advantage of costumers that make early payments. This is another way Big Banks take advantage of costumers that go out of there way to make sure there payment is not late. Thank you ... confused and disappointed consumer that closed their Wells Fargo account and will refuse to do business with them in the future.

Trouble during payment process

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: In an effort to pay my loan off in XXXX years, my XXXX daughters agreed to have a total of {$910.00} drafted from each of their checking accounts per month. This was in addition to my payment of {$940.00}. This totaled a minimum payment of {$1800.00} per month. Moreover, I agreed to make my payment every XXXX weeks thus making an extra payment per year. The necessary draft amounts to pay the loan off in XXXX years was calculated by the XXXX XXXX mortgage loan officer who is no longer employed with the XXXX , AL branch. As previously stated, he explained and we agreed that my checking account would be debited every XXXX weeks to make an extra payments per year, thus shortening the term of the loan. This coupled with my daughters ' extra monthly payments would ensure a five-year payoff. The date of the refinanced loan was XXXX XXXX XXXX , for {$100000.00}. The specifics of the loan include : annual percentage rate is 3.625, XXXX XXXX , XX -year loan. I learned that the error had been made when I received information from WF that my escrow payment was inadequate and would increase in XXXX . When speaking with the resolution specialist, she stated that when I called to give the checking accounts from which to debit the mortgage payment and extra principle, that I did not explain adequately and also that there were documents that should have been filed by the mortgage specialist in XXXX . I did explain and I have never had an issue with self-expression. The resolution specialist stated when I called her concerning the incorrect application of my loan payment that it was too difficult to go back XXXX years, but they could probably go back XXXX year. My question to her was why could n't the same procedure be utilized for both years since a dreadful life-changing error had been made. I expressed to her that it was our goal to have the loan paid off by the time I was at the retirement age of XXXX in XXXX . If we do not get my money correctly appropriated, first, I will have to work longer and secondly, my children 's selfless effort to help pay the loan off in XXXX years will be all for NOTHING. PLEASE HELP turn this situation into it 's intended positive outcome. Please contact me to clear up any ambiguity. Finally, I just want to stress that I do not want anything free or anything that I have not earned. I just want WF to do what is right and I want to be treated like a valuable customer, I have never been late in paying a mortgage payment in the XXXX plus years as a homeowner, I have an exceptional credit score of XXXX . When I called to get help with this problem, I was told that my account was paid up to the year XXXX because of how the payments were applied. My question which is yet to be answered is, why would anyone choose to pay forward rather than apply extra funds toward the principle of their loan. I am at a loss to understand why anyone would throw their hard earned wages away in that fashion.

Closing an account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Fees charged for closing account
Complaint: This is about XXXX accounts ; please read to the bottom. Wells Fargo Account Number XXXX - Closed account in XXXX XXXX . Went in person to the branch in XXXX , TX on XXXX XXXX . Closed and paid a mortgage in full, withdrew all remaining funds from an IRA ; closed a savings account and closed this checking account. In person so I would not have any further issues with Wells Fargo. Now, I receive a statement from Wells Fargo f or Account number XXXX with an Overdraft Fees Charge off of {$35.00} + Closeout Chargeoff Credit of {$10.00} for a total of {$45.00}. I have been on the phone with XXXX departments of f Wells Fargo including the Collection Dept and the Executive office. They told me to drive back to the branch off ice and talk to them or pay the fees because it is not the Collection Dept or the Executive Office 's iss ue that the branch did not close the account correctly. The Executive o ffice says a charge of $ XXXX {$11.00} from XXXX was pending and it is my fault that Wells Fargo did or did not pay it - she would not say - she / the Executive office only said it is not Wells Fargo fault and I have to pay this {$45.00} for a XXXX pending transaction that the branch personnel did not see in the computer when closing my account. At the same time as I closed the account Wells Fargo did another overdraft fee against my account for the Paid in Full Mortgage Account. Wells Fargo is over drafting and charging fees without permission. In order to stop them from putting this against my credit report I was forced to pay it again now through the collection dept because the Executive office lady said she ca n't take payments and they will not fix their error. I also told her 'pending ' electronic payments is why I closed all accounts with Wells Fargo , for months WF would not stop withdrawing money from XXXX account. No person a t WF could verify why their computer system was still withdrawing from my XXXX account ; the Executive offi ce just now told me that is not her concern because it is a different bank XXXX but actually it was WF that was withdrawing without permission. XXXX stopped all WF withdraws and did not charge me an overdraft and did not charge me a stop payment fee for WF wrongfully continually trying to take {$25.00} a week out of my XXXX account. For this issue I had also gone to the XXXX , TX branch and they told me they do n't see why WF is taking {$25.00} from XXXX as I do not/did not have automatic withdraws set up ; in their computer the withdraws had been stopped months prior. WF is using their poor computer software system to charge overdraft fees without proper authority. The owe me my {$45.00} + the overdraft fees from the checking to mortgage account when the mortgage account was paid in full. I know they wo n't refund or pay it back to me which is why I closed all accounts at Wells Fargo including the Estate Account I set up on XXXX account ending in # XXXX . I paid the mortgage # XXXX they say is over by {$410.00} the account is Way to Save Checking Estate Account is overdrafted. And my account # XXXX is now being paid over the phone by echeck from my XXXX account. The mortgage was paid in full along with all taxes, all fees, everything but they now say the estate account has a due balance from a mortgage was paid in full.
