Complaint: I am not able to make my payments and Sallie Mae does not care. They only offered two payment options that would increase my monthly payment even more then they already do. I have called multiple times and nothing was done to help. They told me to not pay it so I can get calls from their collection agency. I live with my grandma and I help pay the bills and I barely have enough to make it day to day. I can not continue paying $ 1000s of dollars going up so much each month. And no one will consolidate because I dont make enough

Complaint: Sallie Mae basically refuses to offer any help to me since I have a private loan. My co-signer and I can not afford the {$1100.00} payment/ month. They have told me numerous times to apply for the " rate reduction program ''. Both times, we failed. I received legal advice from my attorney, and he says they 're completely in the wrong. When I told Sallie Mae that I have an attorney, they basically tried to cover their tracks and asked me to apply for this rate reduction program again. After leading me into forbearance for nearly a year, my total loans has gone up {$4500.00} in interest. I 'm out of options.

Complaint: My son took out a Sallie Mae student loan. He listed me as the " closest relative ''. Apparently he is behind on the payment - he says he has talked to them, I do n't know if it 's true but I am not responsible for his debt and do not want to receive calls regarding his debt. They continually call me almost every day, even though I am not a co-signer and have asked no less than 15 times not to be called anymore. XXXX ID # XXXX at XXXX ext XXXX has called me 3 times in the last week alone, despite being told every time not to call me any more. What can be done about this?

Problem with customer service
Complaint: XXXX XXXX - 1st found out that I had Sallie Mae loans in my name ( XXXX ) and federal ( XXXX XXXX ) and have determined that XXXX XXXX obtained these loans fraudulently without my authorized signature, and also without loan entrance counseling. I contacted Sallie Mae Allegations and Fraud Department, Office of the Customer Advocate, police department, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, Florida Attorney General, XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have documents ( time sheets ) that show that the date all the federal and Sallie Mae loans were applied for, reviewed, acknowledged, processed, and signed for that I was at my place of employment with no access to a computer and social media that evidences that after work I was at a dealership test driving a car. I also received no benefit from the loans as XXXX XXXX misrepresented and when I requested XXXX as my major, XXXX told me I had to take XXXX XXXX first ( which I found out in XXXX XXXX that XXXX XXXX did n't even have a XXXX program at XXXX in XXXX XXXX when I applied! ) I now have totally useless credits from XXXX XXXX and have begun college education all over again, from the very beginning.
XXXX XXXX - submitted paperwork to Sallie Mae Allegations and Fraud, as instructed by XXXX in the Sallie Mae XXXX XXXX, with police report, affidavit, and documentation.
XXXX XXXX - Sallie Mae denies my loan discharge due to fraud. I request IP address of where loans were generated, and am denied this information. I believe the IP address would further validate my documentation that these loans were obtained fraudulently in my name without my authorized signature. I also request documentation of their investigation as to why the discharge was denied, and am also refused this information. XXXX XXXX - I resubmit documentation with new evidence that my Sallie Mae loans were obtained fraudulently and with no loan entrance counseling ( this is a federal mandate ). I sent this paperwork to Sallie Mae Allegations and Fraud and Office of the Customer Advocate. Calls have been placed in regards to status and determination, as well as certified letter sent XXXX XXXX XXXX requesting update. I have received no update or decision or request for further information from either Sallie Mae Allegations and Fraud Department, or Sallie Mae Office of the Customer Advocate as of today, XXXX XXXX. One phone call placed to XXXX XXXX. and XXXX stated that XXXX, my XXXX XXXX would be calling me to discuss. I have never received a call from XXXX. I would like the IP address and status update that customer service has not provided. It has been over 2 months since filing my appeal for loan discharge based on fraudulent loans, and I have had no communication from Sallie Mae. They also began billing me for interest for the fraudulent loans, even though I am still in school, and I have filed for fraudulent loans, and have requested loan payments to stop. I am fearful to stop paying them, as I do not want to jeopardize any financial aid grants I may qualify for as I have begun all over again my college in XXXX XXXX.

Problem with customer service
Complaint: Sallie Mae is quick to charge me ridiculous rates for my student loans, putting me into massive debt, but they ca n't adhere to their own customer service policies. On their website, which is the only way to get information about them, it states the wrong phone numbers and wrong operation times. This makes it nearly impossible to pay my loans on time on a regular work day schedule. After an hour going through an automated phone message, which had no options for speaking to a representative, only by going through the " change address '' customer service number was I able to find out that they closed 8 hours prior to when the website says they 're open until.

Complaint: At least twice in the last three weeks my husband has recieved a call from sallie mae. I recieved a student loan in XXXX with my name being the only name on the loan. I have never lived in a community state. They were trying to recieve payments and told him to verify my birthdate to recieve all of my private confidential financial information. I have never sign or voiced permission for them to speak withanyone on my financial information. I understand myself getting calls to pay the loan that I am not able to pay currently but they have no right to contact my husband nor give him my finacial information, as well as bother him at work. That is illegal.

Complaint: Complaint against Sallie Mae I am writing today to complain about the handling of my student loans with Sallie Mae. Although I appreciate their consideration to provide me with a loan modification in XXXX 2017, they have reported me and my father 60 days late on our credit report. My mother, who is authorized to discuss my Sallie Mae loans, repeatedly asked the representative if this would impact our credit scores and we were told no you are not 60 days late. The representative who assisted us in arranging the automatic payment schedule even stated the day of the month initially picked would not be good because it would make me 60 days late, so we changed the payment date. In late XX/XX/XXXX, early XX/XX/XXXX, me and my father received a text message alerting us about a change made to our credit report. Upon further review, we found Sallie Mae reported me and my father 60 days late on my student loans. We have called Sallie Mae to lodge a complaint and resolve this matter but with no success. They said we received phone calls and correspondence regarding the loans being past due, which we are not disputing. But when we contacted Sallie Mae to ask why we were receiving the calls and letters, they responded they are automated and will continue to receive them until our 3rd automated payment was processed. We were never told our loans were 60 days late. We asked for a copy of all telephone transcripts of our previous conversations leading up to this point and were told they do not provide them. I understand we are responsible for the management of our loans, but we strongly believe we were misinformed and misrepresented. We reached out to Sallie Mae for assistance to try and avoid the exact situation we find ourselves in today.
Based on our last phone call today, XXXX XXXX, 2017, to try and dispute this matter with Sallie Mae directly, they stated they will not correct the reporting to our credit reports since we were 60 days late. We are not sure if it will make a difference or not but me and my father have placed a dispute on all 3 credit bureaus against Sallie Mae for reporting us 60 days late.

Complaint: Around 2013, I decided to go back to school. I applied for a private loan, and the loans total about {$60000.00}. After graduation, I had to take work as a substitute teacher as I could not find full-time employment.
I called the company and asked for forebearance, which they granted for one month only. The fee for forebearance was # {$100.00} per loan. {$200.00} to keep it in forebearance for one month.
I called to lower payments, but it was not working. They said they do n't do forebearance for a year, but it says on their website that it is for 12 months. That is all I ask. One year.

Complaint: Sallie Mae is making it extremely difficult to enter a repayment plan for my student loans causing undue stress and financial hardship. I began repaying my student loans, in full, 6 months after I graduated. I was an entry level employee with the federal government and lived at home with my parents. Even then, my total student loan payments were causing financial burdens. I inquired about repayment plans and was told I should try to lower my interest rates by activating automatic payments. So I did. I didnt see much of a change to make them more affordable. That was 3 years ago. I have now farther advanced in my career, in the field of which I studied in school, and my job became more demanding so I had to make geographical relocations and take on more financial responsibilities. Even though this was even more of a financial adjustment than previously, I continued to try to pay my student loans and was able to enter an income-driven repayment plan with my XXXX student loans. I inquired about income -driven, or any, repayment plans/options Sallie Mae offered and I was told my only choices were to now defer my loans, ask a co-signer, or consider filing bankruptcy. I was forced into deferring my loans. Sallie Mae explained they would only allow me to put my student loans into forbearance for 12 months, for the lifetime of the loan. I would accrue interest during that time. After watching my principal balance increase drastically in just a few months, I decided to inquire about repayment options again and cancel my forbearance period. They told me the only way I could even be considered for a repayment plan would be to allow my loans to become delinquent. I called multiple times to speak to someone about this and they all advised me to do the same thing. So, ultimately this company wants you to allow your financial situation to get worse, have your credit score take a hit, on top of cause undue stress, just to enter a repayment program. Making someone pay {$1400.00} a month for private student loans when they make less than {$2500.00} a month is robbery. Their representatives are very unhelpful and it seems as if that is this companies motive. I know they allow them to say certain things and tell them not to offer/say certain things. This is an extremely unethical way of conducting business and as a large stake holder in student loan debt in America, the federal government should hold companies such as these to higher standards. Especially for the greater good of the American people that simply wanted to afford a better life by going to college.

Complaint: on XX/XX/XXXX, I filled out a Smart Option Student Loan application with Sallie Mae to see if I would be pre qualified for a loan to borrow up to 100 % of the school-certified cost of attendance. I did not complete the application seeing i decided not to apply for the loan. I have received countless automated emails from them since saying " my action was required to move forward. Log in to our Activity Center to review and accept the terms and conditions of the loan. Log in to our Activity Center to e-sign your application. '' ******on XX/XX/XXXX I got an email stating this : " Application ID : XXXX Dear XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Thanks for choosing Sallie Mae Bank and for submitting your loan application. Please log into your account using the link below to view a letter from us. " I did not complete the application process therefore a soft inquiry should have been done rather than a hard one. I want this inquiry from Sallie Mae removed from my credit report, please.

Complaint: SALLIE MAE AND XXXX XXXX IS FULL OF XXXX! they dont want to help at all they just care about getting their money even if you are in a financial struggle, unemployed or just dealing with a financial hardship and not able to make monthly payments. i called XXXX XXXX asking to lower may monthly payments the guy gave me no better options except just pay {$220.00} a month then get 6 month forbearance but it makes my overall loan amount way higher. i tried explaining that i cant pay the XXXX but he ignored ne and would n't listen all he kept saying was i could just pay that amount. i wanted to lower my payment or try deferment but sallie mae and XXXX XXXX dont give you that option!. i owe XXXX per month for sallie mae for 12 months then a bigger amount and they refuse to help me lower my payments. im unemployed and my family is in a financial crisis but they dont care. i owe sallie mae about 44.241.76 and XXXX XXXX XXXX but i cant make payments at this time. and its not fair that only know college tuition is free!!!!

Complaint: Four years ago I co-signed for my grandson to get a student loan. I was told by XXXX that if my grandson made 12 consecutive payments without being late he would be able to release me from the loan. Well I made sure my grandson paid his bill on time so that I could be released. My grandson put in the release form after making the twelfth payment. He received a letter back from XXXX stating his request had been denied.If I had known this would happen, I never would have co-signed. Im sure they want to keep me as a co-signer due to having a credit score of XXXX but that wasnt the deal we made. Can anything be done about this? Theres has to be a law against these companies ripping seniors citizens off.

MY MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER HAVE FEDERAL LOANS IN THEIR NAMES ON MY BEHALF AND NEITHER ONE OF US ARE ABLE TO PAY THE LOANS BACK. DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES IN REGARDS TO FAMILY AND FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS IT HAS BEEN A BURDEN RATHER THAN A BLESSING. Don't agree with the fees charged
Complaint: For the last 2 years, I have been making payments to them and when I tried to get my payments lowered they told me they could not do it. I was making my payments on time for 6 months plus on time then they decide to change my payment after I called them to tell them not to change my payments because I was going back to school. Then they tried to charge a late fee and add an extra payment at the end of my loan after I talked to one of their customer service representatives and told her not to change my payments. This year has been challenging because I know I signed up for fixed interest rates but they said I did not and now my payments keep going up because of that incident I just explain.I am so ready to pay them off it took me 1 1/2 years to get my payments under {$10.00}, XXXX. I signed up for interest only payments because after reading the instructions that were misleading I thought I paying off the a set interest rate that was accumulated on the principal of the loan but I was not. Now my payments are going up a {$1.00} it seems like every month. I was at {$210.00} now I am at {$210.00}. I just hope it stays there because I can not afford to go any higher and they are not willing to help with getting my payments decreased.

Told them that I would be starting a new job soon but would like to alert them and delay payment for the next month or two. Was told that there was no way to delay interest payments and was actually made to pay " good faith '' money in order to stop making payments for one month. Have still been charged interest payments and getting calls that I need to make interest payment despite having told them that I would not be able to make an interest payment for a month or two.
