Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: I went through a financial hardship and tried to make a payment plan. Sallie Mae would not work with me. I would answer their calls and try to do partial payments until I was caught up. I was told I would have to make a full payment. I fell behind on payments as I tried to make the monthly payments and was told that I wouldn't be able to refinance and that I would have to pay for the full amount owed or they would send my loan in collections. I basically had to try to pay it back down or owe the full amount of the loan. I told them it was utterly impossible and they did not work with me. Deferment was not discussed with me. Also, they called my employer multiple times asking for me, three times after I told them to not use my work phone number as it could get me fired and then I couldn't pay them. Most of the representatives were rude and demeaning, even to the point of getting loud with me. The employees went as far to call my father ( who is not even on the loan ) and discussed personal information on the loan- which is illegal to discuss details on a loan to someone who is not a borrower. The employee even told my father that he was responsible to the payment on the loan and had to pay to make it current. My father knew he was not on the loan so he told them to discuss it with me and then he called to tell me what was said. They continued to harass him so I had to remove the number as one if my contact numbers.

Student loan: Private student loan

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: Sometime in XX/XX/XXXX a loan was issued in my name which I did not apply for or sign for. I found out about the loan from my credit report after {$600.00} of interest had accrued. I called Sallie Mae to inquire as to how they could allow someone to take a loan out in my name without my signature or notifying me. I was told someone had my information and I was stuck with the loan, it was my problem. As interest was accruing and I feared my credit report would be damaged I had to take out a loan to pay Sallie Mae in XX/XX/XXXX. I never received a promissory note, loan terms of agreement or any communication from them regarding this loan prior to it being reported to the credit bureau. I felt like the response I received was very irresponsible and left me feeling angry, taken advantage of, hopeless and without recourse.

Student loan: Private student loan

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: DOCUMENT WITH CLEAR SUBDIVISION TITLED SALLIE_MAE_NEGLIGENCE_NOTES.PDF ATTACHED : XXXX ( XXXX ) XX/XX/XXXX XXXX received first statement from Sallie Mae with payment information about both loans ( # XXXX and # XXXX ) 1st payment due XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX realized he was unable to afford payments at this time. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae to set up a 3 month forbearance due to repayment difficulty. Sallie Mae made XXXX aware that there was a maximum of 12 months forbearance for each loan. XXXX paid a {$50.00} good will forbearance payment per loan. Sallie Mae received the {$50.00} forbearance payments totalling {$100.00}. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX received forbearance approval documents for both loans ( # XXXX and # XXXX ) from Sallie Mae. Forbearance period documented as XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX. Payments to resume on XX/XX/XXXX per the statement document received on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX ( XXXX ) No activity due to forbearance. XXXX ( XXXX ) XX/XX/XXXX XXXX and XXXX received XXXX statement for XXXX payment, stated as due on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX & XXXX both miss one payment. Because XXXX is a cosigner on XXXX two loans, they decided to handle all payments and correspondence through XXXX Sallie Mae account for ease of communication and because they share a bank account, making payments much more convenient. At this time, XXXX and XXXX mutually agreed to set up a 3-month forbearance for XXXX loan ( his first forbearance on his one loan - # XXXX ) and an additional 3-month forbearance on both of XXXX loans ( his second forbearance on both loans - # XXXX and # XXXX ) due to repayment difficulty. XXXX ( XXXX ) XX/XX/XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae for the 1st time regarding the repayment difficulty on all three loans ( # XXXX, # XXXX, and # XXXX ). XXXX still wants to make sure Sallie Mae gets some form of payment and makes a {$50.00} payment on each loan. The Sallie Mae employee with whom he spoke offered forbearance as an option on all three loans and said he would reverse the initial payments, and make them good-will forbearance payments for all three loans ( XXXX one loan and XXXX two loans on which he cosigned ). XXXX requests the 3-month forbearance for each loan from the time of the call. Sallie Mae receives the initial {$50.00} payments for each loan totalling {$150.00}. Sallie Mae reversed the payments on XXXX two loans - # XXXX and # XXXX ( not on all three as discussed over the phone ). Sallie Mae then receives the {$50.00} good-will forbearance payments for XXXX two loans. The employee XXXX spoke to failed to reverse the initial payment on XXXX one loan ( # XXXX ) and make it a good-will forbearance payment. Sallie Mae told XXXX over the phone that they were going to process the forbearance requests and that everything was good to go. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX and XXXX received XXXX statement for XXXX payment, stated as due on XX/XX/XXXX despite the request of the XXXX forbearance to begin at the time of the phone call on XX/XX/XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX Sallie Mae charged at late fee to both of XXXX loans despite the request for forbearance. XX/XX/XXXX Sallie Mae charged a late fee to XXXX loan despite the request for forbearance. XX/XX/XXXX Late charge adjustment to both of XXXX loans. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX and XXXX received forbearance approval documents for both of XXXX loans ( # XXXX and # XXXX ). Forbearance period documented as XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX despite requesting the forbearance to begin at the time of the phone call on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX Payments to resume on XX/XX/XXXX per the statement document received on XX/XX/XXXX despite the request of the 3-month forbearance to begin at the time of the phone call on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX ( XXXX ) XX/XX/XXXX XXXX makes his 2nd phone call to Sallie Mae inquiring about the past due amounts listed on all three loans despite the 3-month forbearance requests for all three loans on XX/XX/XXXX. Sallie Mae told XXXX that the forbearance request was processed incorrectly, and they would need to do it again properly. Sallie Mae told XXXX to disregard all past due notices via phone call/email/letter/etc. XX/XX/XXXX Sallie Mae charged a late fee to both of XXXX loans ( # XXXX and # XXXX ) despite the request of a 3-month forbearance on XX/XX/XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae for the 3rd time to inquire about lingering past due amounts on all three loans. Sallie Mae once again told XXXX that the forbearance requests were processed incorrectly and would need to be processed properly in order for the all accounts to be brought to current status. Sallie Mae told XXXX to continue disregarding all past due notices via phone call/email/letter/etc. XX/XX/XXXX Sallie Mae charges a late fee to XXXX XXXX loan ( # XXXX ) despite the request of a 3-month forbearance on XX/XX/XXXX. *NOTE : XXXX has received zero correspondence ( phone call/email/letter or otherwise ) from Sallie Mae personally regarding his past due amount since the 3-month forbearance request on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae for the 4th time to inquire about lingering past due amounts on all three loans ( XXXX one loan - # XXXX and XXXX two loans - # XXXX and # XXXX - on which he cosigned ). Sallie Mae told XXXX for the first time that the 3-month forbearance requests on all three loans had been denied. No other communication had been made about the status of the 3-month forbearance requests on all three loans since the time the request was submitted on XX/XX/XXXX. No payments were made toward either loan during this time. Sallie Mae told XXXX that if he wanted the forbearance, he would need to make the request again and make the {$50.00} good-will forbearance payments again on all three loans totalling {$150.00}. XXXX agrees to make the three {$50.00} good-will forbearance payments totalling {$150.00} officially requesting the 3-month forbearance on all three loans. XXXX asks how he can make sure these payments will be processed correctly this time, and the employee with whom he is speaking assures him that she would make sure it gets processed correctly. The three {$50.00} good-will forbearance payments were again processed incorrectly as regular payments toward each loan without communication to either borrower. The regular payments were then reversed and corrected to good-will forbearance payments officially requesting the 3-month forbearance. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX received a missed call from his account manager ( XXXX XXXX [ sp? ] ) at XXXX PST in the morning on Saturday, XX/XX/XXXX requesting a call back as soon he received the voice message. XXXX calls the number and extension provided by XXXX ( sp? ) as well as other Sallie Mae numbers a total of 16 times, but he couldnt get past an automated system because Sallie Mae was closed, despite receiving the call from XXXX that morning. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae for the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd time to return his account managers ( XXXX [ sp? ] ) phone call from the Saturday prior. XXXX account manager was unavailable at that time, and he had still received no answers regarding the ever-growing past due amount listed for all three loans ( XXXX one and XXXX two on which he cosigned ). XX/XX/XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae for the 24th time to inquire about the lingering past due amount on all three loans despite requesting a 3-month forbearance on all three loans for a second time after the first request was denied without notification. Sallie Mae told XXXX there was another processing error on their end in regards to the latest forbearance requests. The employee with who XXXX spoke stated that they will be submitting a clean-up on his account that would take approximately 48-72 hours. The employee also told XXXX that any negative impacts such as credit reporting and/or late fees would be reimbursed or extracted from his account. Sallie Mae told XXXX that his account manager ( XXXX [ sp? ] ) will call in the following week for an update. XXXX never received a follow-up call from his account manager, XXXX ( sp? ). XX/XX/XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae for the 25th time to inquire about the lack of a follow up call from his account manager, XXXX ( sp? ). XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX that the clean-up was submitted, yet it hadnt been processed due to there being a high volume of requests for students returning to school, despite being told it would be processed in approximately 48-72 hours. *NOTE : This makes it seem like Sallie Mae couldnt care less about a graduate in repayment, and that theyre preying on new students so they keep making money. This sounds like predatory action on the part of Sallie Mae. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX that the 3-month forbearance requested on all three loans had not yet been processed because it was waiting for multiple account manager reviews for final approval, due to there being no clear indication of if XXXX could meet the minimum payment in XXXX. When XXXX made the last forbearance request on XX/XX/XXXX, there was no inquiry on Sallie Maes part as to how he would make the minimum payment. The initial forbearance request for all three loans was made on XX/XX/XXXX, meaning the minimum payments would not begin until XX/XX/XXXX, so we thought, making XXXX comment about minimum payment in XXXX confusing. XXXX was told that the forbearance would bring his account current and that his next payment would be in three months per the recorded terms and conditions playback during both the XX/XX/XXXX call and the XX/XX/XXXX call. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX that hardship forbearance does not allow three months without minimum payments, despite the recording telling him payments would resume three months from each forbearance request. XXXX told XXXX ( XXXX ) to cancel whatever forbearance was in progress. XXXX ( XXXX ) gave him the option of enrolling in auto-debit to bring the account and subsequently all three loans ( # XXXX, # XXXX and # XXXX ) to current. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX that in order to do this, the minimum amount due for each loan would need be paid. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX that she could reallocate the good-will forbearance payments from XX/XX/XXXX to the minimum payments for each loan, and XXXX would have have to pay the difference to makeup for the remainder of the minimum payment. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX the remaining due in order to enroll all three loans in auto debit would be {$200.00}. XXXX paid the {$200.00} and it was received by Sallie Mae on this date. The payment was divided as follows : # XXXX ( XXXX loan ) {$55.00} # XXXX ( XXXX 1st loan ) {$44.00} # XXXX ( XXXX 2nd loan ) {$100.00} There appears to be no reallocation of the good-will forbearance payments in any transaction history, so this area is a bit confusing. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX that once the payment was processed, his account, and subsequently all three loans would be brought current, and automatic payments would being on XX/XX/XXXX on the XXXX of every month billed for {$350.00}. Payment confirmation code : XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae for the 26th and 27th time to make additional inquiries about previous phone conversations and was hung up on both times. XXXX called Sallie Mae back for the 28th time to inquire about the statement made on XX/XX/XXXX about all negative impacts being reimbursed/extracted from his account. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX that he didnt want to give XXXX the wrong answers, and he therefore transferred XXXX to XXXX in escalations. XXXX told XXXX that he is forwarding the inquiry to the credit disputes department of Sallie Mae and that Sallie Mae will get back to XXXX with answers. XXXX has received no answers to his inquiry thus far. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae for the 29th time to inquire about the remaining past due balance on his account for all three loans ( XXXX one and XXXX two on which he cosigned ). Sallie Mae told XXXX that the payment had processed on their end, but because it might not have gone through XXXX XXXX end, the auto-debit had not been activated on either loan. Sallie Mae told XXXX to check auto-debit status again tomorrow. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX called Sallie Mae for the 30th time to inquire about the remaining past due balance and lack of auto-debit enrollment on XXXX two loans ( # XXXX and # XXXX ) despite the payment being processed on both Sallie Mae and XXXX XXXX end and despite XXXX one loan ( # XXXX ) appearing current and enrolled in auto-debit. XXXX asked what the minimum payment due was for all three loans to make sure everything added up correctly. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX that she could not tell him the minimum payment because XXXX two loans ( # XXXX and # XXXX ) appear to be past due and arent displaying a minimum payment. XXXX ( XXXX ) then asked out loud how the previous employee was able to calculate a minimum amount due when neither of the three loans were listed as current. XXXX ( XXXX ) transferred XXXX to XXXX ( XXXX ) for further assistance. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX to check auto-debit status on XXXX two loans ( # XXXX and # XXXX ) again on Monday because it was appearing to have processed on her end, and it might take a little while to appear current and enrolled in auto-debit on XXXX end. XXXX ( XXXX ) told XXXX that his one loan ( # XXXX ) was already in forbearance as of XX/XX/XXXX even though the first request wasnt submitted until XX/XX/XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX *NOTE : There has been no subsequent communication from Sallie Mae since the last phone call. *NOTE : XXXX has not received a follow-up call of any kind from his account manager ( XXXX [ sp? ] ) since Saturday, XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX. *NOTE : XXXX still has received no correspondence about his past due amounts on either of his loans this entire year. *NOTE : XXXX two loans are still past due to this day with no sign of being enrolled in auto-debit, despite appearing so on Sallie Maes end.

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I have struggled with paying the minimum amount of my student loans. They have suggested a flexible option, but I told them the amount was still too much. Somehow they have my roommate 's phone number and called her on XX/XX/XXXX. On that phone call, I asked them to remove her information as my contact because she has nothing to do with my account. On XX/XX/XXXX, my roommate received another phone call from them. They call me 5-7 times a day and have even called my job when I've asked them to stop.

Problem with customer service
Complaint: I've been having financial struggles for some time now due to my father 's gambling issues. He left my family in XX/XX/XXXX with the handful of visits in XX/XX/XXXX to take some of his belongings. He co-signed my loan with Sallie Mae, at the time it was understood he would help pay for 1 year of my college education. I've come to understand that is not the case anymore, so be it. I have been doing MY very best to try and handle this. I left university XX/XX/XXXX because I needed to work and could not afford school. My mom was also becoming very sick ( XXXX XXXX ). I knew my grace period would end and my first Sallie Mae payment would be XX/XX/XXXX. I called well before then to sort out a payment plan because I absolutely could not afford the {$420.00} payments. In XX/XX/XXXX, I was advised by a representative that in order to explore payment plans that would work for me, I needed to wait until my account was past due. She advised I call back when my account is 6 days past due. 6 days after XX/XX/XXXX, I called Sallie Mae again and was told by the representative that they still could not look into payment plans for me, and suggested I try going through general customer support solutions. I was transferred and went over the forbearance and interest only payment options. I said alright well, right now the only option I can do is the forbearance 3 months at a time. I had lost my job in XX/XX/XXXX and was struggling to find work especially in a place with no public transportation ( I have no car ). The representative, after going through the two options, told me I actually do not qualify for either of them because I was unemployed. They told me to borrow money from everyone I know and then call back when I got a job. If I have steady income I would qualify for forbearance and interest only. I called again after I finally got a job in XX/XX/XXXX, I still had not received a paycheck but I wanted to see if I could now explore payments options that worked for me. I was transferred twice and extensively went over my financial situation each time. I never demanded Sallie Mae to hunt down my father and make him pay, I simply explained I was the only one trying to work something out and that my father clearly did not care. I was told that to qualify for interest only and forbearance, I had to be current in payments. What? Why did they advise me it was an option then??? I had to call back again a week later, 1 day before I was 60 days past due. The representative I spoke to, after spending nearly an hour talking and going over my finances and family situation, told me that he could not help me further until my father contacted them ... I gave the best number I knew for my father which is probably outdated, but the representative called and left a message. He said he could not help me further and I did not qualify for any payment plans, did not qualify for any temporary solutions to give me time to start getting paychecks. I could only make the full past due amount payment and continue my regular monthly payments going forward. I asked then, alright I obviously can not make payments as I do not even have {$400.00} in my bank account, what am I supposed to do if my father never calls back? The representative did not answer and simply said I should contact them back to see if my father called because that is the only option available. How does that make sense? I had listened to their advice every time I called, I attempted to have this sorted out before my payments even began. How can they continuously offer and then rescind help? Each time, I had been told to do X Y Z so I could qualify for A B C, and every time I did what was asked and called back, I got a different story and was told essentially the only option is a regular payment. If in the end, nothing can be done to the account until my father calls, why did they not tell me this from the start? They intentionally waited until I was past due 59 days to tell me this. If I was advised in XX/XX/XXXX, that they needed my father to contact them in order to qualify for additional options, I would have had time to try to track him down. I am furious because I have done my absolute best to figure this out in a timely manner. Sallie Mae is NOT the only debt I have. I would throw all my money at them if I could. They should have the decency to at least provide accurate, consistent information from the start instead of waiting until there is no return to tell me. My father clearly does not care about his credit score, I care about mine even though it is nearly nonexistent because I just turned XXXX, have no car or insurance, and hope to slowly better my life in the next decade. Sallie Mae waited until I was 59 days past due to tell me they need my cosigner in order to make any changes to the account, which is appalling. I can not conjure up $ 1200+ in a day to beat the 60 days past due mark. Now this will be on my credit score for the next 7 years even though I had spent the last 7 months trying to prevent it from getting to this point. I am at a loss. How can a company have so many uncaring employees?

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: About 2 weeks ago ( end of XX/XX/XXXX ). I was behind on payments but was able to make the lowed payments, but was still delinquent due to missed past payments. I was contacted ( received a call ) by a rep from sallie mae after making a payment a few days prior. I was told they have a " 3 pay program '' that could help me get caught back up to make my accounts current. How it works was as long as i make my next 3 payments on time, the account will be brought current and the delinquent payments would be added to the end of the loan. I agreed to enter this program and did the verbal verification over the phone on their recorded line and that was the end of it. Today, I called them to verify that the payment was still scheduled and verify the amount to be paid. I was able to confirm both, but the new rep proceeded to tell me that I was not actually eligible to be in the " 3 pay program '' and that the payments I scheduled and was told would bring me current, would not. The reasoning I was told was due to already having my payments reduced and I " cant be in 2 programs at the same time '' So my complaint would be, why would they call me to tell me about a program, I agree to the terms and enroll into said program, schedule payments, and not actually be eligible from the very beginning? The lady on the phone was nice so no issue with her, but she said she would " elevate this to a manager '' and then I was on hold for close to 30 min before I hung up. Aint nobody got time for that.

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem with customer service
Complaint: I have a private student loan through Sallie Mae. The total amount received each semester reflects both the amount of tuition plus the amount that is estimated to be the total living expenses for a semester. The funds are directly distributed to my school, XXXX XXXX University XXXX XXXX XXXX ( based out of XXXX, TX ), who is supposed to apply the funds towards tuition and then distribute the remaining balance to me ( since after all it is MY loan and I'm paying interest on it ). This is the second semester in a row that the school has kept my funds. Last semester, Sallie Mae distributed the amount of {$12000.00} to XXXX XXXX University on XX/XX/XXXX. A credit of {$4800.00} was supposed to be disbursed to me for living expenses for the semester. Instead, I didn't get my disbursement until XX/XX/XXXX, leaving me with no money to live off of for the entire semester. I realize this is a problem with the school and not necessarily Sallie Mae, but I believe Sallie Mae should hold the school accountable for making sure students get their money in a timely manner. I called Sallie Mae on two different occasions, and both times a customer service representative told me that once the funds are in the school 's possession, what happens to them is out of their hands. I don't understand how that could be possible as the loan is in my name and I'm the one making interest payments on it. If that were the case, what's stopping the school from keeping my money indefinitely? I believe that the school is using students ' funds to either make interest by keeping the money in their private bank account for an entire semester, or they're using the funds improperly in some other way. It's a very small school and in no way should it take 4 months to distribute these funds. It happens to multiple students every semester. Sallie Mae disbursed my funds for this semester to the school at the end of XX/XX/XXXX, and now in the middle of XX/XX/XXXX I, once again, am without funds to pay rent or bills ( which is ridiculous because I'm still paying interest on loan money that is not even in my possession ). When I reach out to the school or to Sallie Mae they are of absolutely no help, and I believe that Sallie Mae doesn't care at all that the school is taking advantage of us. I believe that Sallie Mae should be held to a higher standard than what they currently are. The school should be required to distribute the funds in a timely manner. Please, please help me with this situation as I have no idea what else to do. Thank you very much for your time and help with this matter.

Problem with customer service
Complaint: This problem is not about a loan I have. I am being harassed by Sallie Mae about my niece 's loan. I am not even a co-signer on it. XX/XX/XXXX- I was called by a representative named XXXX XXXX from Sallie Mae . Apparently, when my niece first applied for a college loan in XXXX, she put my name down as a reference. She is having trouble paying right now because she recently had a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and is only working part time. So, because my niece put my name down as a reference 10 years ago, these people called me because my niece won't answer her phone. I called them back the same day to complain and I told them not to ever call me again, that they have my niece 's contact information, and I can't make her answer the phone or call. They assured me I would not be bothered again. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX - There was a voice mail message on my phone from someone at Sallie Mae. I could not hear the name, but I believe she said her agent number was XXXX. She said her extension is XXXX. Again, she was saying she needs to talk to my niece and wants me to call her back immediately, and wants me to do anything I can to get my niece to return the call. I am not getting into my niece 's business and she isn't going to listen to me. I've told my niece to stop avoiding the calls, I can't do anything else. I have enough to do in my own life to help these Sallie Mae people. My husband and I have two elderly mothers and his XXXX sister to care for right now, and I work full time at a very demanding job. I am furious that they called me again after I told them already that I am not going to get involved and they assured me I would get no more phone calls.

Dealing with your lender or servicer

Student loan: Private student loan

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: Loan # : XXXX. The loan I took out in XXXX with Sallie Mae was setup as a variable interest rate private loan. The orginal interest ( SEE ATTACHED ) was between 9 % and 10 %. The interest rate may vary based on the current market flux. ( SEE ATTACHED ). That said, I have paid the loan since XX/XX/XXXX, making {$140.00}, {$32.00} of which is in interest. That totals roughly {$5800.00} in total payments on a {$7000.00} loan. Somehow, i still owe {$3700.00} to this day .That is probably because I am paying {$32.00} in interest. Thats 22.8 % interest. Not 10 %, like my promissory note states. I have complained to them that a REASONABLE consumer would not be able to determine how they came up with this but this is the formula they use they told me. Interest rate is calculated at {$390.00} interest annual divide by 365 days= $ XXXX 31 days in billing cycle. Monthly interest. {$33.00} XXXX. XXXX. A REASONABLE consumer, and an HONEST government agency such as the CFPB, should see that this is a PREDATORY lender, and that they are being dishonest, and are robbing me off my money and livelihood. This effects the economy, as I am now going to end up paying almost {$15000.00} when this little loan is paid off. I want a reasonable rate restored, or the loan forgiven. ( 10 %, which is what my promissory note states ). My hope is that as a Federal agency, you will see how Sallie Mae has deceived me, and so many others into believing that they are paying a variable interest rate, not a made up arbitrary one using a formula that is NOT stated anywhere in the promissory contract, which they claim is calculated by XXXX.

Getting a loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Fraudulent loan
Complaint: Sallie Mae opened 7 accounts for XXXX AND XXXX XXXX where I'm listed as a cosigner. The borrower 's mother asked me to cosign for ONE loan. I talked to the borrower over the phone, she asked me some information and said she'll show me the application to sign, which she never did. The borrower 's income on the application is {$13000.00} and she got approved by Sallie Mae for a lot more than her annual income. False information about me includes my income, my address, my e-mail address ( it's hers ), my monthly mortgage, my citizenship status, my assets, my employer phone number, and in the last application my cell phone number, etc. She continued using my social security to obtain loans for herself and, later, for her sister making up information without my knowledge, permission or authorization. Sallie Mae is refusing to investigate the fraud, and take me out of the loans they approved without verifying the information. There's a lot of made up information about my self that Sallie Mae could've used as red flags to deny further loans.

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: I am writing this because Sallie Mae has wrongfully added a 60 day late notice on my credit reports in XX/XX/XXXX. Allow me to explain. I filed for a chapter XXXX bankruptcy on XX/XX/XXXX and the Bankruptcy Court initiated an automatic stay. Sallie Mae sent me my last statement on XX/XX/XXXX, and they deactivated my online account access once they received the automatic stay notice. The bankruptcy discharged on XX/XX/XXXX. Sallie Mae then sent me a letter on XX/XX/XXXX, notifying me that they noticed that the bankruptcy case was concluded and that they will be sending me correspondence relating to my loan and that they restored my online access. They then sent me my next statement on XX/XX/XXXX, and I proceeded to pay them. Now I check my credit report and it shows a 60 day late status on XX/XX/XXXX, which is between the time that the bankruptcy case was active, I received no bill for, and my online Sallie Mae account was deactivated. I have disputed this with the three major credit bureaus, of which I have only heard back from XXXX so far. The results of the dispute says " The company that reported the information has certified to XXXX that the information is accurate. This item was not changed as a result of our processing of your dispute. Please review your report for the details. '' I feel that Sallie Mae didn't even look at the facts I presented. I am trying to rebuild my credit after a bankruptcy and I do not need a recent 60 day late status showing on my credit reports. Please help me to correct this inaccuracy.
