Account status incorrect
Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXX, it was brought to my attention that Santander Bank was reporting me delinquent on two different occasions toward the end of XX/XX/XXXX. It was dropping my credit score by about 50 points. I was not delinquent and they acknowledged this in a letter to me dated XX/XX/XXXX. Problem solved after many hours of phone calls.
They are now doing it again. This time I am not so forgiving. This is inexcusable. I called them and sent them an email. When I called, I was told that they made another error. I was not late. As a matter fact, I havent been late on anything in years. Again my credit score dropped 50 points. The problem is still not fixed. Had I not applied for a student loan refi, I would never have known about this problem. Again more hours on the phone. I am considering litigation at this point. I feel that they should compensate me for time lost taking care of these issues. I am a XXXX and have my own XXXX XXXX. I charge XXXX per hour and have spent at least 10 hours on this problem. I am sure that you get many of these but these large companies need to take customer service more seriously.
Thank You for your time.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 Santander Bank removed without notifying me {$3400.00}. Seems someone claimed that they sent funds into the wrong account. Seems to me that anyone can make a claim of doing this but can they show proof. Seems that the banks do not demand some proof of this. Thereby creating a back door for scamming and thief.
i have gone into my hangouts account and have printed a portion of my conversation with XXXX XXXX showing that the funds were sent to the account specified and to me. I have added those pages to this complaint. One must remember that there is no way to print out a conversation or partial conversation for hangouts. One must copy and past to XXXX or a writing software.
The individual to call and confirm is XXXX XXXX her phone number is XXXX It is a XXXX number. Seems the funds were put into Ms. XXXX XXXX 's XXXX account.

Funds not handled or disbursed as instructed
Complaint: Santander Bank failing to refund funds from 2 forged Checks. On XX/XX/2018, I wrote two checks to pay for a title search to obtain a mortgage from what I thought was XXXX XXXX XXXX, under the name of XXXX XXXX XXXX, which I had found was bought out by XXXX XXXX XXXX.
As it turned out, this was a loan scam, and the person who cashed the checks was not a mortgage loan officer or worked for any bank, as reported by Washington State Department of Financial Institution. furthermore, XXXX XXXX XXXX has impersonated the identity of a licensed mortgage loan originator to gain my information and trust. XXXX XXXX XXXX I requested a stop payment on both checks, which was denied by Santander bank. They told me that the checks had already posted, but I knew the funds had not been withdrawn, as I had as well demanded my money back and the guy was assuring me that the would refund me the money. As soon as the checks cleared, I was no longer able to contact XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX.
I was not allowed at first to file fraud claim as the Fraud Agent at Santander told me that my signature meant there was no fraud since I had signed the checks. What he did not tell me was that the Signature on the back of the check, which was forged should have allowed me to file this claim.
I was able to file the claim after receiving accurate information that both signatures must be valid and that Santander bank, was perpetuating a Fraud by failed to disclose this information. It was clear to any reasonable person looking at the back of this check that the signature was forged.
The person was able to cash the two checks made out to XXXX XXXX XXXX with a fake stamp and a fake signature through XXXX XXXX, which has stonewalled me with regards to my claim, stating that only my bank has the right to put in the claim.
XXXX XXXX instead demanded an affidavit of forgery from XXXX XXXX XXXX, the band that was supposed to be receiving the funds. When I went to get the affidavit of forgery from XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX, the Customer service representative at XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX, stated to me that it was Santander 's responsibility to get that the Affidavit and that I should have had the funds refunded a long time ago.
I already provided a notarized affidavit of forgery, which I signed and is attached to this complaint. XXXX XXXX is now refusing to refund the checks mentioned above, on the grounds that they need an affidavit of forgery from XXXX XXXX XXXX, is a fake company and signed with fake signatures. Therefore both Santander and XXXXXXXX XXXX is perpetuating a Fraud, by not disclosing the person who cashed the checks, knowing that they are liable for the damages or possibly closing that account knowing that it is being used to perpetuate a fraud. The bank is also refusing to disclose any information, as to who cashed the checks and therefore are perpetuating this fraud. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Transaction was not authorized
Complaint: My account was charged a numerous amount of different transactions without my authorization. I filed a police report after being denied claims from my bank ( santander ). They told me i was denied because the person who took the transactions out of my account gave them documentation that they had my email address and mobile number. They took all of my funds and left my account on XXXX which is starting to add up because of overdrafted fees. I have never gave anyone permission to take a consecutive number of transactions out of my bank account ten transactions all different amounts. I have been banking with this bank for three years I trusted they would get to the bottom of this and they simply told me was not their problem, that it is my responsibility to protect my own account. I am a single mother of twins Ive had to borrow money from family members co workers in order to pay my bills. I was working a 9 hour shift when the transactions started to take place. I didnt notice until it was too late for the bank to stop this person from stealing from me. I filed a police report and the officer told me filing a report wouldnt help much. Im unsure of my next step Santander bank has the worst customer service each representative told me it was my fault.

Complaint: In XX/XX/2018, the loan was in foreclosure and my home was scheduled for sheriff 's sale. The lender ( Santander ) reported the principal at that time was {$350000.00}. In XX/XX/2018, I paid the required reinstatement amount of {$68000.00}. In XX/XX/2018, I made another payment for {$8000.00}. After I made these payments ( for a total of {$76000.00} in payments ), Santander now reports the new principal is {$340000.00} -- a mere {$13000.00} difference? I understand that there are fees and penalties associated with foreclosure, but this seems excessive. Moreover, this practice is extraordinarily misleading, the reinstatement papers should have clearly disclosed that less than 10 % of my {$68000.00} would go to principal.
The lendor ( Santander ) has failed to provide a clear breakdown of how the {$68000.00} was applied or how escrow was used. I have called numerous times and none of their reps will explain anything. Moreover, when I called in XX/XX/XXXX to inquire about the Santader 's receipt of the reinstatement amount ( {$68000.00} ), and asked when to resume monthly payments, Santander 's rep said that they had no info about the $ XXXX payment, that the loan had been " sold '' and that no additional payments were due- the rep said I'd be hearing from the " new lender. '' When I didn't hear from a " new lender '' by XX/XX/XXXX, I called Santader again, and was again told that they didn't have the loan. After hours on the phone, the rep finally determined that indeed Santander did still have the loan, but that a new account number had been assigned. The rep refused to provide any information on Santander 's receipt of the {$68000.00}, or how it was applied. The rep only continued to demand money and thousands of dollars in new late fees!

Complaint: While reviewing my statements for securing some pay-off figures with the Lender, Santander Bank, I have just discovered that an annual {$50.00} fee has been added into the balance of the loan principal amount due, thereby increasing the ending balance figure. This inflated balance figure is subject to ongoing interest expense ; which has occurred for the duration of my HELOC account with this Bank. This practice has been happening since the loan rewrite in XX/XX/2014.
The expense of an annual {$50.00} fee and aggregate interest ( a variable figure ) was rolled into the loan amount, which increased my costs to a non-calculated amount. This increase in interest for the inflated amount has benefited Santander for the past four years.
I have notified Santander, with the intent of paying off one portion of this structured loan, but now the amount due, as shown on their statements, has been inflated by the practice described above.

Complaint: I have lived in XXXX for four years after being a Santander customer for over 10 years, starting when I took out a home equity loan in XXXX and opened a checking, savings and XXXX credit account. I currently have a Santander XXXX XXXX and they are now advertising a new Santander XXXX XXXX XXXX credit card that pays 1.5 % cash back with no foreign transaction fees, which is a higher cash back rate than my XXXX XXXX which currently has foreign transaction fees. They will not allow me to apply for this card as an XXXX resident, they only offer this card to residents in 12 states. Santander is a National Association and should not be discriminating based on state of residence, especially for existing customers. Thank you.

Complaint: Forty eighXXXX years ago, my husband and I opened a savings and checking account with XXXX XXXX XXXX. Over the years, I opened several more accounts at the bank and the bank has changed hands three times. These accounts were my primary accounts and they grew substantially to include our household savings and checking, our children 's savings and college acoounts, and a trust account. With each change of banks, I made sure that all of my accounts would be tied together so that I did not have to pay any fees and this was the case until recently. We had as many as eight accounts at the bank and never had a problem. Over the years, I have spoken to bank representatives about my accounts and I was assured that all the accounts were linked so that our substantial balance would preclude any fees. A while ago, I received a letter from the current bank, Santander, notifying me that I would be charged {$1.00} per month on my trust accounts because they were inactive. I promptly went into the bank and spoke with the branch manager. He reversed the charge and I was not charged that fee again.
When I retired in XXXX, I had the time to closely scrutinize my bank statements. I was very surprised to see that I was being chraged {$30.00} a month on the trust accounts. I had never received a letter informing me that this would be done. Instead, a blanket statement was printed on monthly statements. Since I had always been told that my substantial balances at the bank would preclude any fees, I did not think that this generic statement applied to me. The trust accounts were only a few XXXX dollars below the minimum required for the fee to be waived on those accounts, while the aggregate amount of all of my accounts was significantly higher than the minimum required balances. I could have easily transferred that amount into the trust accounts if I had been notified of pending fees by the bank. And, for a while I was also charged a {$3.00} monthly fee for a paper statement for the trust accounts. Since I am well over 65 years of age, this violated bank policy and was later recinded. But I had to bring it to the bank 's attention when they certainly had the information in their records.
Once I became aware of the charges, I went to the bank and spoke with a representative. He assured me that he would handle the situation At one point, he told me that my accounts should have been " grandfathered ''. While he was doing this, Santander continued to charge my account. The branch manager did credit my account for those charges but she has a limit of {$100.00} and these charges had gone on for 5 years. So, there is a significant amount that was not returned to my account.
The local bank representatives referred me to the district executive. After speaking with her several times, she told me that she would refund {$500.00} as a courtesy because of my longstanding relationship with the bank. When I once again told her that I had been assured by a number of bank employees that I would not be charged any fees because of my substantial bank balances, she told me that none of the people with whom I had spoken were still with the bank so she was not going to honor what they had assured me about my accounts! I was told by my branch representative that I needed to keep the accounts in question open so that the {$500.00} would be deposited. The bank continued to charge me the monthly fees which the local branch credited back to my account. Finally, after 2 months, I closed the trust accounts. I am presently in the process of moving all of my accounts out of Santander Bank. This has been a major inconvenience for me. The bank should refund the {$30.00} monthly charge that has been deducted from my account since XXXX, XXXX.
