Debt is not yours
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I was notified by XXXX of a credit collection claim that had been filed against me by Receivable Performance Management ( RPM ) and spoke to a customer service representative. Prior to this point I had not received notice of any type from RPM, or from the company the alleged debt was owed, XXXX XXXX. As I informed the customer service representative, I am a current customer of XXXX XXXX and my account is in good standing.
After requesting some basic contact information about me the representative informed me that the claim related to a " XXXX XXXX '' for service provided at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, AL. The service for which the collection was based upon ran from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX.
I informed the customer service representative that I had, in fact, resided at the aforementioned address, but that my lease ended and I relocated in XXXX XXXX, prior to the period in question. Additionally, my name is XXXX XXXX, not " XXXX XXXX. '' The representative advised me that they would mark the account as disputed and dispatch a packet to my attention with paperwork to fill out to dispute the claim.
As of this date, XX/XX/XXXX, I have not yet received any correspondence from RPM.
I was told by the representative of RPM that the collections claim was filed using my social security number, however, a subsequent call to XXXX XXXX 's fraud department indicated that not to be the case. XXXX XXXX confirmed that I have no claims against my account, nor have I in the past. I am a current customer of their service in good standing. XXXX XXXX further told me that this sounded like an instance of " skip tracing, '' which prior to that date I had not heard of.
Subsequently I put a 90 day hold on my credit reports and requested a full version of my Equifax report, which revealed the details of the errant claim that was made against me.
My credit scores dropped over 30 points due to this collection claim, but have since rebounded as it was apparently removed. As I never heard anything from RPM I am concerned as to : 1 ) how/why my credit was incorrectly penalized, and 2 ) whether this erroneous claim has been fully expunged.
I am filing this complaint to notify the CFPB of the skip tracing tactic that was applied to this account, erroneously leading to a collection effort against me, simply because I shared a common name with a person who resided at an address that I left years ago.

Complaint: After Hurricane Maria passed I went to XXXX on XX/XX/2017 to have all lines switched over. It wasn't until two months later that I was notified that XXXX XXXX still had an open revolving account. XXXX did not switch all lines and the reason how I found out is because I was waiting on a final bill from XXXX XXXX to have XXXX process electronic visas to pay off the XXXX XXXX account. There were additional charges added which I notify XXXX about. I also notify XXXX XXXX that they did not have my correct address on file and that's why I never heard anything from them. I am currently still waiting on XXXX to process those electronic visas to pay XXXX XXXX. By the time two months had pass when I found out about the account still being open I had been laid off by my employer. I became XXXX and have not been able to obtain employment to make any payment of my own.

You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Complaint: whatever company this is has been calling my cell phone repeatedly since XX/XX/XXXX since XXXX/XXXX XXXX, they constantly call, pretend to leave a voice mail ( with no message ) and continue to argue with me that I am a person called " XXXX or XXXX '' so I assume this may be a debt collector. I have repeatedly called them numerious times and told them I am not XXXX or XXXX and to take me off their callling list. They continue to call me numerious times a day and when I call back they put me on hold or hang up on me and when I ask to speak to a supervisor they put me on hold for a long time, hang up on me or argue with me. I am ready to pull my hair out. In the last two weeks I have had at least 30 to 40 calls and when I finally get someone to answer my call and demand that they take me off their list to call they say that I need to wait 24 or 48 hours and to " give them a chance '' which is the same story they have been giving me for 2 months now. I can not believe that a company can be so RUDE and abusive!

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: I have disputed a collection on my file more than once and they refuse to remove it.
I recently completed a chapter XXXX bankruptcy. Everyone on this planet that I owed money to was listed on that bankruptcy. No entity was left out.
Shortly after the discharge of my bankruptcy I requested a credit report. Mysteriously, a collection that was never on my account prior to the discharge suddenly showed up as a collection AFTER the bankruptcy. The collection, IS NOT MINE. The collection shows as a joint account from XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX. First and foremost, I have NEVER had a joint account with anyone. Second, I currently have a XXXX account which I just barely opened last year and it is, IN GOOD STANDING.
First thing I did was contact the collection agency, SEVERAL TIMES. The agency is, Creditor Information RECEIVABLES PERFORMANCE XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, WA XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX When I contacted the collection agency and finally talked to someone it was not the person I was supposed to talk to. They refused to transfer me to anyone else. Would not even transfer me to a supervisor. They just kept telling me that they could not remove it because I did not have an account number. I explained I did not have an account number because IT IS NOT MY ACCOUNT. I also explained about the bankruptcy and that if it was my account it would have been listed prior to discharge. She refused to hear me out and said she could not help me without an account number.
I contacted and emailed their accounts " escalations '' department and left at least 10 messages with my name and phone number and nature of my call. I have yet to receive a call back OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS. Below is a list of contacts I have utilized : Telephone Phone : ( XXXX ) XXXX XXXX XXXX Phone : ( XXXX ) XXXX Escalations Phone : ( XXXX ) XXXX Email : XXXX Shortly after informing them on a voicemail that this was not my account and that I had a bankruptcy of which this account was not a part of, mysteriously somehow without a supposed " account number : '' they were able to find the account and report to XXXX that it was in my bankruptcy. WHICH IT IS NOT. ( I have a lawyer and he can verify this information. ) When I saw that on my report I exploded. I tried reporting both XXXX and the collection company to the FTC. So far I have not heard back. I sent an email to every executive I could find in XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX and both XXXX and XXXX do not have this collection on my reports and have responded to my request to make sure it does not get on the report.
A XXXX executive responded by giving me a letter specifically stating that my account is in good standing and I do not have a collections. I sent this to everyone and still no help or changes have been made to my report.
The people who have never responded are XXXX, except to deny my dispute and they have made it impossible for me to access my account information on XXXX to keep disputing it. They keep saying my password is wrong and when i call them they say they fixed it but they never do and I have not had access for over a month now because they seem to be blocking my ability to get into the account. They tell me to call them and I do and I do everything they ask and I still cant get access. I have done that at least 3 times or more.
I have never heard from Receivables Performance Management. If they cant help me without an account number how are they able to change the false information they are reporting to XXXX and falsely claim that the collection is on my bankruptcy? IT IS NOT!!!!!!! BECAUSE IT IS NOT MY ACCOUNT. I did not include it in my bankruptcy because IT IS NOT MINE!!!!! To me this suggests their is illegal practices being coordinated inside both companies.
I promise you I spend most days crying about the entire ordeal. I am a XXXX Veteran with XXXX and this has sent me into XXXX, made me XXXX and cause me to exacerbate my XXXX. I do not know how much more I can take. I have taken several months to do my bankruptcy as perfectly as possible. I have contacted a law firm to find out if I have a lawsuit against both companies.

Threatened or suggested your credit would be damaged
Complaint: A bill that I owe XXXX XXXX XXXX was sold to RPM by XXXX XXXX XXXX. RPM was calling me approximately 10 times a day. I expressed to them that they were calling me while I was at work. yet they continued to call all day. When I talked to them on the phone they told me that if I did not set up a payment plan they were going to turn the bill over to an attorney and report it to the credit agencies. I told them when they expressed this that they violated the Fair Debt Collections Act. The person on the phone told me that he did not know that company.. I had to explain it to them. I asked numerous times for them to send me a paper statement so that I could put it into my bills and get it into my home budget so I could make payments. It took them 2 months to send me a bill. When I called to try and make a payment over the phone they said that they would not accept any payment that was less than {$500.00}. They refused to accept any lesser amounts twice and I was told that if I was to pay any less than that I needed to send a check. As soon as I received the bill I sent a check. They now have reported on my credit report as " Collections ''. I have no other derogatory remarks on my credit report other than from a company that is impossible to work with, I did not even have an address to send a payment to for nearly 2 months.

Debt was paid
Complaint: This was an account with XXXX XXXX. I canceled my hot spot at the end of XX/XX/2016. I was told that I could come back at anytime and pick up the service. I told them in XXXX XXXX XXXX and then after 60-90 days they were still billing me. I work out of state and was not able to get my mail. I paid everything online. I then called XXXX again and again. They kept telling me not to worry about it. I called the next month then someone else told me that they would not do anything about it and it would go to collections. I paid on this every month that I had this account on time. I then have been disputing this collection for over a year and I have given all the credit reporting agencies the time line when I switched with bills showing when I canceled the account and still because of these big corporations can put in accurate information on your credit report at anytime. I paid on my account and paid for services that I have like any other account that I have. XXXX should do the right thing and take this off my credit report.

Debt is not yours
Complaint: I have been disputing with Receivables Performance Management against inaccurate and unverified collection account on my credit reports. I have sent letters informing them that I am unaware of this account with them, sent debt validation letters for proof and evidence that I am the person they are asking to pay this debt and a contractual obligation that legally binds me to pay the alleged debt to them. I have attached most of those documents that I have sent to them. I have yet to receive any response from them with the proper proof. 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 ( b ) of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) grants me the right to request validation of any alleged debt a business says that I owe it. It also states that upon receiving this validation letter, one must cease from collection calls, letters, and efforts and delete the account from my credit files until the debt can be validated. This is a clear violation of the FCRA. Also, the bureaus have been reporting collection agencies own the same accounts. My credit report, as of XX/XX/18, shows XXXX XXXX XXXX collection agency owns XXXX XXXX at {$1200.00}, and Receivables Performance Management collection agency owns the same XXXX XXXX account listed with Receivables Performance Management at {$770.00}. It is a violation of FCRA law to report various inaccurate and unverifiable collection accounts owning the same accounts with different balances within the same 30 day period. I have included pictures of my credit reports to verify my claim on this. Please help me to get XXXX XXXX to delete these inaccurate and unverified accounts from XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. I have been fighting with them about these accounts for over three months.

Debt was result of identity theft
Complaint: ON XX/XX/XXXX Receivables Performance XXXX a collection agency reported a debt on my credit reports that somebody who stole my identity owes them. The original creditor the collection agency purchased the debt from is XXXX XXXX. They state the unpaid date of 1st delinquency is XX/XX/XXXX and balance as of XX/XX/XXXX is {$1600.00}. I disputed this with XXXX and other credit reporting agencies and clearly stated that this is not my debt. I never had service from XXXX XXXX in my life neither have i ever lived at the address linked to the XXXX XXXX service that was unpaid by the identity thief. Still XXXX has wrongfully concluded after I sent them proof of my real address that never had service from XXXX XXXX and i quote " We verified that this item belongs to you '' and instructs me to contact the collection agency. Last year i put a fraud alert on my file when i first became aware that my identity had been stolen and used to acquire services.these agencies are failing to protect me

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: I disconnect my phone line from XXXX company last year and they send me last bill on XX/XX/2017 in the amount of XXXX and pay the full amount. when I call them I clearly say disconnect all the line I have in my account and from that point on I did not use any line and till this day on their web site USAGE OF THOSE LINE SAYS XXXX. And now they send me a bill of XXXX for usage on XX/XX/XXXX plus XXXX dollar on XX/XX/XXXX for the line i never used since the first initial contact with them to disconnect all the line when I ask two line is still active BUT as I say I call them to disconnect all of them and doesn't make sense to cancel 3 line and live the other two. Now every time I call they say we will give you credit for those charges but not only they never did that but they send the balance to a collection agency and I can take it any longer. The same exact word I got last month from their agent we will cancel the service and credit you back the amount and I got it Monday. when I ask their supervisor or any body responsible for this kind of mess they told me they are in back of office and their is no way they connect me to solve the problem. Now the bill jump to XXXX dollar. Now they say still those two line are not cancelled why because the billing cycle is till XX/XX/XXXX. I don't have any other way to communicate with them to solve the problem except writing for you. I do appreciate the service you do and expect hopefully something good from you. Thanks.
