Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt is not yours
Complaint: Company appeared on my credit XXXX without proper notification as they were obligated to do in accordance to FCRA rules. I have no knowledge of this account and the company has never sent me any correspondence given me the opportunity to obtain validity prior to reporting on my report. Prior to filing this complaint I called the credit bureau and was informed that the company provided proof that the account was mine because of matching addresses on file and birthday but the social didnt match and they flagged my file as having a double credit file and sent out notices to the company to send proper validation with my social or delete from the file. When I tried to call because I have no idea what this is from the customer service agents was unable to speak with me unless I verified my information. I gave her my social and the account number furnished on my report. She was unable to speak with me as the information didnt match. When I asked her to send me a letter stating they had the wrong information the call conveniently disconnected. I called back and asked another agent and he said its against their policy to discuss the account because the information doesnt match, when I asked him to send me verification of the debt and to cease collections he stated they wouldnt collect anymore but he couldnt stop it from going on/remove it from my credit if I didnt pay. I AM NOT PAYING FOR AN ACCOUNT THAT IS NOT MINE and they couldnt even verify in their system. From my credit report I see the original creditor is XXXX, however I sued XXXX and won as they were unable to furnish proof that the accounts they were attempting to collect on were mine as my social nor signature matched their files. I would advise this company to cease collection and remove ALL reporting from my reports as I have obtain legal counseling due to the selling and buying of a discharged fraudulent debt.

Debt collection: Credit card debt

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: I was sent a collection notice from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX MO XXXX ) dated XX/XX/XXXX. I spoke with a representative there on XX/XX/XXXXand set up 6 months worth of automatic payments with the understanding that these would bring my account current. I made a note while speaking with them and they stated that they " do n't report to credit bureau '' as in this was possibly an internal collection company. My payments were deducted as scheduled but inXX/XX/XXXX I received a collection notice from a DIFFERENT collection agency ( datedXX/XX/XXXX ) stating they are collecting a past due balance that was more than the original notice. When I looked at my account online I found that XXXX XXXX has been charging me a late fee each month and is now stating that the payments I was making did n't meet the minimum due and that 's why the payment is considered late, even though a payment was made on time each month. At no point did XXXX XXXX XXXX tell me that the payment I set up with them would n't be satisfactory to get my account back on track. I had to set up a similar process with another creditor but once I made the agreed upon payments my account was considered up to date and back on track. I 'm not understanding how this is legal to set up a payment arrangement but still charge a late fee each month because the minimum payment is n't met - which is the whole reason it went to collections in the first place.

Threatened to contact someone or share information improperly

Debt collection: Medical debt

Contacted your employer
Complaint: The first call I received was on XX/XX/XXXX. Today is XX/XX/XXXX. I have received a call every weekday, twice a day, since. The second time they called, I answered and they informed me that I had a medical collection that was due in the amount of {$130.00}, from early XX/XX/XXXX. I asked her for a paper bill and informed her that I would pay the debt in full once I receive the bill. She was happy to take down my address and informed me the bill would be sent out, this was the second call I had received that day so i asked that I not receive anymore calls. The next day I received another call from the same company asking about the same collection. When I informed her of the conversation I had the previous day she grew very upset and told me that I do n't need a paper bill. That I know I had visited a hospital in XX/XX/XXXX and did not need a bill to verify that I " Owed the doctors money. '' So I told her that I had health insurance at the time so i need to verify with them that the amount they are claiming I owe is the actual amount my insurance company did not cover. She said that i dont need to verify anything because " i know I had a bill and chose not to pay it. '' I told her that I have never received a bill from the hospital or anyone else about this. She then repeated my home address back to me, I verified that was my address and informed her that she only had it because I gave it to her colleague the day before. This seemed to make her even more upset. She told me that if I paid the bill then and there that they would not report the debt to my credit report but if I waited for the paper bill then they would report it and it would have an extremely negative affect on my credit score. I told her that i work in the banking industry and deal with credit reports every day. I let her know that a single medical collection would not have that large of an impact on my score, so I was not worried and was still going to wait for the bill. She told me about how long she has worked for her company, and all of her experience with credit and how she knew it would severely impact my score. She again she requested my payment details. At this point I was fed up and informed her that i have already requested a paper bill, have already requested not to be called, and would satisfy the debt when i receive the bill. I hung up the phone. I received another call from the same company later that day and did not answer. So they changed tactics. They began calling my bosses personal cell phone. The first call my boss received was on XX/XX/XXXX. They informed my boss that they were a collection agency and wanted to speak to me about satisfying a medical debt which had gone into collections. My boss informed them that she had absolutely nothing to do with my debts and asked that they not call her back. Since then they have called my bosses personal cell every weekday, up to three times a day. Today my boss was fed up. They called her again and this time she put me on the phone with them. They informed me that they were trying to satisfy a medical debt from XX/XX/XXXX, in the amount of {$130.00}. I was furious. I told her that she has been calling my bosses phone over and over again even though they asked that her company stop nearly two weeks ago. I asked for a supervisor. The supervisor told me that they would remove my bosses number and make sure i am not called again. Needless to say I received another call from the same company just a few hours later. It has been weeks and they have completely failed to provide me with a paper bill while at the same time embarrassing me with my employer.

Frequent or repeated calls
Complaint: Not sure what type of company this is ( whether debt collector or not ) but they called me at XXXX XXXX at which time I was in a meeting. When I made it home I found out they called my husband, his ex-wife, my ex-husband, and my sister leaving a message that said they are calling to verify whether they have the correct address for me, for a pending matter and to avoid any further proceedings we need to contact XXXX Ref XXXX. When I contact the number I immediately asked for a supervisor and she went silent as if getting someone and I told my husband it did not make any sense they calling all over and she said, " We will call all over and whomever we want '', and then hung up the phone. I called back and again pressed 2 to get customer service and asked for a supervisor and the woman began trying to read off something at which I told her I do not want to hear anything because you have violated my rights and I would like to speak with a supervisor. She then proceeded to began to say how I will not talk to them raising my voice and I hung up the phone because it is apparent they this company is either so use to these tactics until they do n't know that they are wrong.

Debt collection: I do not know

Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: I received a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. They have also placed this on my credit reports. If you look at my past complaints you will see that this is the same account that XXXX XXXX has, which was removed from my reports. The debt was closed and sold and resold several times. The account was closed and sold between XXXX. It is now XXXX. It is well past the statue of limitations. So how are they being allowed to continue to sell this old debt and continue to place it on my reports as a new account. The credit bureaus never ever fully validate any debt with a paper trail. All they do is send a letter saying it was verified. Their is never anything showing how it was verified. I can not get a copy of any documentation

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: I reached a settlement with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX on an XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ) ending XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX account reference # XXXX. The settlement was being paid on timely manner and Collections agent, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, did not honor and worse kept additional funds not properly adjusted form balances and agreement. According to settlement agreement payments where to be received in a timely manner which they were sent and post marked correctly. Nowhere in the settlement letter it states that funds had to clear by the date provided but sent in timely manner which they did revive as such and deposited. This collector is in violation of FDCPA by collecting and already provided and being paid for agreement and also not accounting for all funds. I have provided settlement documentation and payments effected which clearly reflect that I had until XX/XX/XXXX to complete settlement and the collector simply voided settlement without regards for my compliance and payments effected in timely manner

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt was paid
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from Central Credit Services, LLC stating that I owe XXXX XXXX {$120.00}. I called XXXX XXXX and was told that I had forgotten to return a power cord for the XXXX XXXX XXXX. I was told by the representative to return the equipment and they would credit the account. I returned the power cord through XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with XXXX ( employee ID # XXXX ) at XXXX XXXX. After an hour and a half on the phone with him trying to figure out where the ball was dropped, XXXX spoke to his managers and found the returned equipment via the XXXX tracking number that I was given. XXXX spoke with the financial representatives at XXXX XXXX who said they would contact XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX " at their convenience '' to let them know the debt was settled. I sent a dispute letter to XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX via certified mail and received a receipt that it was delivered and signed for on XX/XX/XXXX. I received phone calls/messages on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX about this debt after I had sent the dispute letter. I called and left a message for XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX that they were not allowed to contact me about this debt, and they need to contact XXXX XXXX. I received correspondence from XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX with a statement date of XX/XX/XXXX stating I still owe the {$120.00} even though the last few pages XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX sent me from XXXX XXXX clearly state that my balance is {$0.00} as of XX/XX/XXXX. The balance was a " non payment partial write off '' on the bill for returned equipment. Now I 'm not sure if XXXX XXXX has even contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX about the resolution of this debt. They can be quite a difficult company to work with. Also in the paperwork from XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX was a bill dated XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX XXXX for {$120.00} with a due date of XX/XX/XXXX. The initial correspondence from XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX was dated XX/XX/XXXX which was before the XX/XX/XXXX due date. I had called XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX and given them our new home address. All of the bills were being sent to our old address even after I notified the company of the address change. This complaint is first with XXXX XXXX and second with XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX.
