Complaint: In XX/XX/2019, Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC ( " PRA '' ) agreed to a settlement on an account they had assumed from XXXX XXXX XXXX. The original balance of the loan was {$8000.00}. The settlement reached was for {$4800.00}. They have been accepting payments, which have been made as scheduled, on that settled amount since the settlement was agreed to. However, PRA continues to write to me showing the amounts paid as being credited against the full {$8000.00} debt. They are also reporting the same to the credit agencies. This fraudulently makes it appear that I have an outstanding credit collection account of ( currently ) more than {$7000.00}, rather than the {$3000.00} that should be showing. I have written to them twice asking that they correctly report the amount owing and both times they have refused to make this correction and stop reporting the incorrect amount. I have not yet received the confirmed settlement letter from my debt resolution company, but it will be received shortly. I can forward it later. It shows the settlement of {$4800.00} was agreed to by PRA in XX/XX/2019. The Company is Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, VA XXXX

Complaint: i previously sent a DEBT VALIDATION request to Portfolio Recovery Associates in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and all the I received back was a statement of an alleged charges without my signature on it. This alleged statement did not meet the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION and THE FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT guidelines to constitute proper debt validation. I have repeatedly called this company in an attempt to rectify this situation and i got was a complete runarounds with absolute no interest in resolving this issue. I will file a lawsuit against this company in 30 days for deliberately damaging my credit report and defamation of character if this derogatory information is not deleted from my credit report.

I have previously contacted them stating that the amounts they are trying to collect are not correct and have even tried to settle the accounts by making agreeing to make small payments. They agreed to settle my accounts and lowering the amount, however, the amount did not go down after making two payments. Now I've been not only harassed by an outrageous amount of calls, but my family and friends have also received calls from this creditor. Now it has escalated to them threatening to sue and garnish my wages and have also shared my credit information with other fraudulent companies threatening to sue in their name.

Complaint: I have tried to contact portfolio collections agency they email and phone and each time have gotten no response back when I first received a letter. Now later I am trying to repay the debt and find out it is with a lawyer who also wont return my messages and I did not receive any paper work or was not served any papers for court saying this was going to happen. I am trying to buy a house and want to get this fixed but after months and months I cant get anyone to help now its defaulted and I dont know what to do.
