Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt is not yours
Complaint: I have disputed this account several times requesting physical verification from Online Information Services. I mailed all letters certified mail with signed return receipt in XXXX, XXXX, and XX/XX/2018. I do not have a legal agreement/contract with Online Information Services to pay this debt and I asked them several times to remove this account from my credit report. Online Information Services continues to demand payment from me. Per my rights, I requested a copy of the original contract with my signature that says I agreed to pay Online Information Services yet they refuse to provide me a copy. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ), you are required by federal law to verify through physical verification of the original signed consumer contract for any and all accounts you post on a credit report within 30 days. Since Online Information Services refuses to provide me a copy of a legal agreement with my signature that says I agreed to pay their company for this debt, they must REMOVE this account from my credit report. Online Information Services has responded by sending me a copy of an old statement from another company. Statements are not sufficient in verifying debt. The law states you must provide me a copy of the original contract with my signature. Online Information Services has and continues to violate my rights according to the FCRA.

Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: This letter is being sent to you in response your erroneous reporting to the Credit Bureau { s }, the highly negative impact on my personal credit report. Please be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 { b } that your claim is disputed and validation is requested. This is NOT a request for verification or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above-named Title and Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you. Please provide me with the following : What the money you say I owe is for : Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe : Provide me with copies of any signed papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe : Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable : Identify the original creditor : Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account : Show me the you are licensed to collect in my state : Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent or Agent of Service : At this time, I will also inform you that if your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the 3 major Credit Bureaus { XXXX, XXXX or XXXX } this action might constitute fraud under both Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you represent, I will not hesitate to bring legal action against you for the following : Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Defamation of Character If your offices can provide proper documentation as requested in the following Declaration, I will require at least 30 days to investigate this information and during such time all collection activity must cease and desist. Also, during this validation period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with my legal counsel for suit. This includes listing any information with a credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or invalidated or verifying an account as accurate, when in fact there is no provided proof that it is accurate. If your company fails to respond to this validation request within 30 days from the date of your receipt, all references to this account must be deleted and completely removed from my credit report and a copy of such deletion { to any/all of the 3 major credit reporting bureaus : XXXX, XXXX and XXXX } request shall be sent to me immediately. I would also like to request, in writing, that no telephone contact be made by your company to my home or my place of employment. If your offices attempt telephone communication with me, including but not limited to computer generated calls and calls or correspondence sent to or with any third parties, it will be considered harassment and I will have no choice but to file suit. It would be advisable that you assure your records are in order before I am forced to take legal action against your company and your client. Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt was paid
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I made a full payment to Online Services, a debt collection agency. I have been waiting a proof of payment letter. On XX/XX/XXXX I called to request another letter be sent to me. Per a conversation with one of the call takers, the request would take 10-15 business days. On XX/XX/XXXX I called and spoke with a floor supervisor and she advised me that the only way to correspond with Online Services was through standard mail. It has been over a month since the payment was made and almost a month since I have requested a proof of payment letter and Online Services is doing nothing to rectify this situation. Furthermore, the account is still being reported to my credit. I understand that this may be on XXXXs part. However I find it peculiar that I paid other collection debts the same day (XX/XX/XXXX ) and some before the day that I paid Online Services and those amounts have been corrected on the same Transunion report. I understand that things happen with the mail, however, Online Services has done nothing on its part to help correct this situation. Online Services decision to do nothing about this after multiple calls of complaint speaking with two supervisors ( a woman on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX ) as well as the collections account manager XXXX, is unprofessional and unacceptable and has caused delays in my financial life which is causing strife within the rest of my life.

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Investigation took more than 30 days
Complaint: Online Information Services Inc XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX NC XXXX Business failed to respond to collection letters required by law. They will not remove accounts from the credit agencies. I checked my credit report and found this organization placed a collection account on my report. I contacted the organization on XX/XX/XXXX regarding this issue and asked the send me their initial letter to collect a debt. I found the information they provided to be incorrect. On XX/XX/XXXX I sent a certified letter of dispute asking verification of debt. This letter was sent with a signed receipt. After 30 days past, there was no response from this organization. They are required to provide verification of debt within 5 days and a response with 30 days according to Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCAP ) as outlined in 15 U.S.C. 1692 ( outlined in my letter I sent them ). Because no response was received, I sent another certified letter with delivery receipt on XX/XX/XXXX demanding the remove the information from my credit report and consider this matter closed. In this communication I also provided a copy of the original letter sent. There has been no contact from this organization and they fail to respond to my written contact per the FDCAP. They also have not removed the account from my credit report. I am seeking resolution here before I file in small claims court.

Written notification about debt

Debt collection: Other debt

Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: I was out of the country during the XXXX and upon returning in XXXX I received a letter from XXXX XXXX, on behalf of XXXX XXXX attempting to collect an unknown debt. Their letter was dated XX/XX/2018. However, due to delayed mail and my absence I did not have 30 days to dispute said debt. I called them immediately and requested for a delete for payment. They were not accommodating. They advised me to call XXXX XXXX. I called XXXX XXXX because I was never even aware of the debt to begin with. It was a final bill from the sale of a home in FL. I live in XXXX. I never received any bill from XXXX XXXX ( my previous bills were e-pay, but upon closing account I lost access ) and XXXX confirmed that they had an erroneous mailing address. I had no idea this bill was even owed and should have been given the opportunity to pay it in full. XXXX neglected to mail it to the correct address and closed my online account so I had no access. XXXX XXXX failed to give me 30 days to dispute this debt. I mailed XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX a written request to delete this from my credit and give me the opportunity to pay, but I have not heard any response from them. This is the only derogatory mark on my credit and I was never given an opportunity to pay.

Debt collection: Other debt

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: After multiple attempts to receive validation of debt from Online Info Services via a utility collection, I called and spoke to a rep named XXXX who hung up on me because she was caught giving false statements regarding validating my identity to access my account. I called back to speak to a supervisor but the consumer collection department screened my calls and did not answer. I called back to back and unfortunately I had to call from another number for someone to answer to assist with my account. XXXX from the consumer collection dept. finally answers the phone so I asked to speak with a supervisor. The " assistant '' manager XXXX told me a letter was sent to an old address that I do not reside anymore so I provided her with an updated address. After providing an updated address XXXX stated the company will not send anything they have on file that states I owe this alleged debt. I asked to speak to her supervisor XXXX and I was sent to his voicemail. This is unacceptable and unlawful for a collection agency to consistently withhold information from the consumer, as the consumer is privy to information that being reported about them.

Complaint: I have been attempting to resolve this debt with XXXX XXXX to no avail. I just spoke to the company rep. and was prepared to pay the bill in full if they removed the entry from my credit report due to them not sending any notification. The young lady I spoke to advised me that they didn't have a forwarding address and that's why nothing was sent. She continued by stating 'they don't do deletions ' but would mark it as paid with a XXXX balance. I asked her again to work with me and she said she would not delete the entry and couldn't assist me with this any further. I filed a report with the cfpb last month and that case number is XXXX.

Debt collection: Other debt

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: I never owed On-Line service any money and I asked them to prove how I owe them and they haven't. I finally got them on the phone and they said they would not delete the info even though I never owed them and they don't have any documentation with my signature, a copy of my driver 's license nothing at all to support this debt. After going and back forth with them they said the only way to get this deleted off my credit was to pay them. So, I paid it as it would be cheaper than getting a lawyer and going back and forth to court. A year later it's still on my report as a collection opposed to not deleted. Which is the same as not paying. It was a classic bait and switch to get me to pay them. ACCOUNT NUMBERS # XXXX, and # XXXX

Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Debt collection: Other debt

Threatened or suggested your credit would be damaged
Complaint: On or after XX/XX/2018 I contacted and spoke with a representative from XXXX XXXX. I was told they were collecting for XXXX XXXX for a bill that I owed and the details were discussed. I told the representative that I would be handling the debt directly with XXXX XXXX and they should cease and desist all communications and actions with this account. I was further told fine maam and was abruptly hung up on. I further proceeded after verbally communicating with XXXX XXXX to send a certified return letter stating according to the FDCPA to cease and desist all actions and communications with me. XXXX XXXX received and signed for the letter on XX/XX/2018. To no avail, Online Collections reported this collection to the credit bureaus on XX/XX/2018. I contacted XXXX XXXX again on XX/XX/2018 and spoke with XXXX the assistant manager who refused to give her last name and was very rude in her demeanor. I attempted to let her know that I sent a letter and went over it with her but she rudely cut off. XXXX stated the law only applies to communication we can still report it to the credit bureaus. I told her she clearly wasnt knowledgeable in the law pertaining to Public law 95-109 and 99-361. Needless to say, the conversation did not end up nowhere. I made her aware that I would be contacting the Federal Trade Commission and my Attorney General 's office. She then asked for my attorney 's information. I stated there is no need for me to give that to you and the proper channels will contact Online Collections.
