Opening an account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Unable to open an account
Complaint: I have attempted to open both a personal checking ( within the last year ) and a business checking account as recently at XX/XX/19 on both occasions the accounts were opened by XXXX XXXX representatives and on both occasions, the accounts were opened then immediately closed followed by erroneous letters with Chase letterhead that gives you no explanation other than checking with the three reporting credit bureaus. In the second attempt like the first the reps are cryptic in their approach and only give yur word and warning that " the account that was opened will be discontinued and closed immediately '' nothing more nothing less. It is important to note that I owe nothing to Chase Bank ... an have separate accounts at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX that are both in good standing. This bank is egregious in its behavior and seem to have some sort of prejudice to certain clients and should never be allowed to take monies and open an account only to close it with absolutely no explanation whatsoever except some erroneous letter that states that they made the choice with no explanation or cause whatsoever.

Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: I am filing a formal complaint regarding Chase Credit Card Services handling of Claim ID : XXXX. This claim has been grossly mis-handled by Chase. I am formally appealing Chases ruling that the charge of {$290.00} dated XX/XX/XXXX was valid as I have provided written evidence contradicting such conclusion to Chase multiple times. I will provide some background on the purchase and the various pieces of written evidence that have been provided to Chase as part of the dispute process, which has been ongoing since XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I authorized a charge of {$3600.00} with the merchant XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. This payment was related to a package tour of the country XXXX with the merchant including all of the goods and services listed in an itinerary the merchant provided via email on XX/XX/XXXX ( Enclosed as Exhibit 1 /2 and provided to Chase on XX/XX/XXXX and once again, on XX/XX/XXXX ). The tour was scheduled to take place XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. Unfortunately the merchant did not deliver the package as agreed to in the itinerary. Exhibit 1, Page 7 clearly states that the package included a hot stone bath at your hotel as part of the package price that was charged in full on XX/XX/XXXX. The merchant refused to provide this part of the package despite it being included in the written itinerary upon which was agreed to between both parties prior to payment. Upon confronting the merchant, I was informed in writing ( via email ) that the merchant made a typographical error on the itinerary and would refuse to provide the hot stone bath because it was too expensive. ( Enclosed as Exhibit 3 and provided to Chase on XX/XX/XXXX and once again, on XX/XX/XXXX ). The merchant charged my credit card account in full for a package tour which included a hot stone bath. The merchant then decided not to provide this service. I filed a dispute with Chase on XX/XX/XXXX for the cost of the hot stone bath which the merchant refused to provide and acknowledged that they refused to provide in writing. The cost of this service was included in the price of the package but was not provided, so the charge for the package is clearly disputable. The merchant claims that they did not charge for the hot stone bath but that is clearly incorrect as the charge of {$3600.00} which was processed on XX/XX/XXXX was for an entire package including the hot stone bath as one component of that package. Not only is Chases ruling of the charge as valid in error, but Chase has grossly mis-handled this complaint. At no point was I provided with the merchants written response to the dispute despite multiple requests via telephone. At no point was I permitted to speak with the Claims Examiner responsible for my dispute, despite repeated requests. And I was forced to provide written documentation to Chase multiple times before anyone acknowledged receipt ( Exhibit 2 was provided to Chase via email on XX/XX/XXXX but the claims examiner failed to review it until it was provided a second time on XX/XX/XXXX ). Lastly, and most alarmingly, Chase has ruled this charge to be valid, despite numerous pieces of evidence to the contrary, and Chase refuses to escalate this matter further in complete ignorance of the facts provided. Chase has provided three written letters ( XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX ) stating that the charge is valid, but refuses to provide any rationale or reasoning to overturn the written evidence I have provided to the contrary in clear violation of the consumer protections afforded by the FTC. As a consumer and a loyal Chase customer, I am disgusted at how Chase has handled this situation and a copy of this formal complaint will also be provided to the FTC as well as the CFPB. I hope that Chase will review its dispute resolution procedure as this experience has been unacceptable and in violation of every basic consumer protection afforded by the concerned regulatory bodies. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Company closed your account
Complaint: I opened a Chase XXXX Credit Card was approved then after 3 weeks they closed my account without any reason, I reached out to a person that works in Chase and was told that I was on a so called " Blacklist '' with Chase. I have never done anything wrong to Chase but 5 years ago my accounts with Chase were subpoenaed by the court for an investigation so they closed all my business accounts at that time. Since all this time has passed and I was approved I figured that is was all good.

Complaint: I received an alert, that I had a hard inquiry on my XXXX credit report on XX/XX/2019. I viewed it and it was from Chase Card. I contacted the business the following day, informing them about the alert and the fraudulent hard inquiry and was told to dispute with XXXX. I did not dispute with XXXX, because I have a fraud alert attached to my credit report, because of previous fraudulent activity and any company that receives an appliication is to contact me and Chase Card did not.

Checking or savings account: Savings account

Banking errors
Complaint: Filing a new complaint because Chase closed my previous complaint without a response ( I made 6 phone calls to their Executive Offices which were not returned : XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX of 2019 ). In XX/XX/XXXX2019, I received a tax document mailed to my home, addressed to my mothers name at my home address. My mother and I have a joint checking account together, but she has never lived at my address and she always gets statements mailed to her own address. I logged into my Chase.com account to see if Chase had somehow mixed up our addresses. I went to the joint account that she and I share, and I clicked Statements. When the PDF statement opened, it contained my mothers name, her home address, and full details on ALL SIX of her Chase accounts NOT just the one that she and I share. I called Chase and reported both of these problems : ( 1 ) the mail sent to the wrong address ; and ( 2 ) the privacy violation on the website. The customer service agents did not seem to think either of these issues was concerning. They told us we could fix the data disclosure issue ourselves by having my mom de-link her accounts so that they did not all appear on the combined statement. So essentially Chase is telling us that they will disclose financial data ( via a combined PDF statement ) to someone who is NOT an account holder ( me ), unless we specifically take steps to opt out. They told me there is a disclosure given to someone who chooses a combined statement. The wording of the disclosure does not make it clear that data for ALL accounts will be shared with an individual who is a joint account holder on only ONE account. I filed a complaint, and called back several times to check the status, for a total of 3 hours and 19 minutes of my time, with no resolution from Chase, so I am now turning to the CFPB. This is careless disregard for personal financial data. I am extremely disappointed in Chase for failing to protect my mother 's private financial information and for failing to treat this matter with any urgency.

Struggling to pay your loan

Vehicle loan or lease: Loan

Denied request to lower payments
Complaint: A loan request ( refinance ) was done XX/XX/2019. It was denied. Verbally, a representative took the complaint regarding the extra interest. Chase refused to refinance and never addressed that. Chase sent papers for " voluntarily surrendering '' the vehicle. Using Chases secure messaging a request was made asking that Chase " waive the defiency ''. This was also denied. When the vehicle was purchased I was told I could refinance in 6 months. That was not true. There were several misconceptions. During this time Chase phoned no less than 8 times, which would have been great had I known it was Chase. The calls were all toll free and I thought they were robotic calls trying to get money. Also, I did not know how to retrieve the voice mail. My wife got them all today Monday XX/XX/2019. When I became ill my wife stopped working to care for my needs. So the extra income we had was gone. A lower interest rate would have really helped during this difficult time. It is emotionally and financially draining. Late fees were applied more than I can remember. No matter if the payment was on the XXXX or XXXX day of the month, there was a late charge. That was never addressed. Verbally, Chase said " payment isn't late till the end of the month ''. That wasn't true. This was also a hail damaged vehicle. Because of my XXXX I couldn't see all the damage on the top of the care. Below is what I believe has happened with me ; Article by XXXX XXXX " The editorial page of the XXXX XXXX XXXX recently weighed in on an important but underappreciated aspect of the financial crisis : The systematic targeting of communities of XXXX for risky and unfair loans. As the XXXX put it : Pricing discrimination illegally charging minority customers more for loans and other services than similarly qualified XXXX are charged is a longstanding problem? '' After the fact of dealing with Chase, several articles have stated that higher interest rate loans are given because they know you will default because rates are too high to be paid back. Shame on Chase. Being an older person I thought I would be treated fairly and without partiality. That isn't true. We are doing the best we can under our circumstances. Thank you, XXXX XXXX

Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: I have multiple credit cards with Chase. I opened a Chase XXXX XXXX card more than a year ago, a card with an annual fee of {$450.00}. I already had a Chase XXXX XXXX card, which is the less premium version of the Chase XXXX brand, and it had an annual fee of {$95.00}. I was led to believe by Chase representatives that with the Chase XXXX XXXX card, I would not be billed any annual fee on my Chase XXXX XXXX card. I was unknowingly billed {$95.00} on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. I was not aware of this billing as there was a credit balance on the account, and the assessment of this fee seemed to cancel out the balance and made the charge itself ambiguous. I received a statement in XX/XX/XXXX telling me that another {$95.00} was going to be billed on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, and I immediately called customer service to stop the annual fee. Chase has refused to fully refund the {$95.00} annual fee on the Chase XXXX XXXX product and has only agreed to refund {$7.00} of this amount. I have not used the card once since the last time the annual fee was billed, and I do not even have the card in my possession. I have been using the premium version of the card, the Chase XXXX XXXX card. I never received any statements for the XXXX version of the card and was hardly aware that it was even open. I feel misled and disrespected as a customer, as Chase misled me as to the correct fees on my accounts when I opened their most expensive card ( Chase XXXX XXXX ). Furthermore, I feel like an XXXX for being taken for {$95.00} whilst never getting to use any of the benefits or features of this card.
