Getting a credit card

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Application denied
Complaint: I went in to a local Chase bank branch approx XX/XX/XXXX to open credit card accounts for my in-laws and sister-in-law as their Attorney-in-Fact. The POA documents were with me. After an extended time there with a representative, the branch manager became involved and said they will not honor POA for extending credit. I then called Chase executive offices and one of their reps said yes that is their policy. This appears to violate State of Connecticut General Statutes 1-350R/S, and the focus of abuses mentioned here : http : XXXX Under the old law, many people were frustrated that they had planned ahead only to have a bank disregard the POA for various reasons '' Your assistance is requested in bringing enforcement actions to the institution for so blatantly disregarding their legal responsibilities

Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I filed a dispute with Chase Bank for {$2000.00} on a {$4700.00} charge with XXXX XXXX, the details are as follows : On XX/XX/XXXX I paid {$4700.00} for a seat advertised as a fully lie flat bed on a 15 hour flight from XXXX to XXXX. Once in the air at altitude, I discovered that the seat did not fully recline as advertised, and functioned more as an economy seat. I mentioned it to the flight crew, the seat was not fixable. I had no recourse to fix this, was stuck in a broken seat beyond my control. Once landing, I reached out to XXXX to explain the issue. Their response was to credit me {$200.00}. I responded that this was not acceptable, the credit was far too low given that the {$4700.00} seat did not function as advertised for a 15 hour flight. XXXX did not remedy the situation, so I filed a dispute with Chase. The response from Chase was wholly inadequate and disingenuous. Chase responded that because I accepted services from XXXX, I was not entitled to any refund and my dispute was denied. I find this unacceptable and incorrect. I purchased a seat that was explicitly sold as a lie flat bed, this is the reason I bought it for a 15 hour flight. Once in the air, there was literally nothing I could do, so a refund is clearly necessary.

Complaint: My wife was using our chase card to do laundry. Considering I constantly deposit money in the account, I constantly check the account and noticed 2 fraudulent charges. I have never been to that XXXX nor have I ever in my life spent more than XXXX dollars at XXXX. Why would I? Wife and XXXX XXXX girls. We are also practically vegetarians, so we don't buy food like that. Chase does not care and I refuse to pay for charges I have not made. Complaint: We used two credit cards from chase bank to purchase two services. We never received either service. We disputed all five charges which were made from one merchant who billed us under two names. Chase agreed with us in three if the charges but has refused to provide relief for the last two. We disputed the charges in XXXX of 2019, provided all information requested. Even had our chase banker fax information the information from her bank to credit card division in XX/XX/XXXX. We also faxed the information ourselves to them in XX/XX/XXXX. I made multiple calls to them and asked what additional information they needed to resolve the last two disputes. We provided everything they asked for. In XX/XX/XXXX I was told that too much time has passed to resolve the final two disputes. One of the disputes they had resolved in XX/XX/XXXX was to the same named company that the last two disputes. I asked them the logic of approving one of three disputes with the information provided but not the last two. No answer provided. I requested a copy of all information we had provided them. They sent only the information provided on the claims from the card with the two open claims, not the information from the card which had a very similar charge settled in our favor. I have request that information again and am waiting for response. Thank you.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, I stopped by XXXX XXXX ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ) XXXX. I test drove a car and the sales rep was being very pushy about working numbers out even though I told him I was just looking around at several dealerships. Since they were about to close, he asked me to fill out the top of a form for his supervisor to show me some numbers without running my credit score and that he would call me back on Monday. 10 minutes after I left the dealership XXXX notified me XXXX/XXXX XXXX XXXX had added an inquiry to my report. On the morning of Monday, XX/XX/2019, six more inquiries were added to my report from XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, and XXXX XXXX XXXX. Later that day the sales rep called me to inform me I was approved for a loan of {$20000.00} and I confronted him about all the reports, and all he said was that in order to show me accurate financing numbers his supervisor had to run my report ( even though I had not authorized it ).

Struggling to pay mortgage

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: I fell behind on my mortgage back around XX/XX/XXXX. I had a bad break up with an x and was left to pay unsecured debts and try to keep up on the mortgage plus my other bills. I ended up falling behind 3 months on the mortgage and once i was good to be back on my feet, i was denied my payment. I was told i needed to pay up the whole amount which was about {$4800.00}. My morgage was {$1400.00} a month and at that time i was offering to pay them {$1800.00} and from then forward i was going to be able to pay $ XXXX- {$300.00} over my minimum payment to start catching back up. I was denied those payments and was told i needed to pay in full what was owed. I then turned and decided to sell the property. I was living alone so it was not possible for me to just catch up in one payment. I listed the house for sale, had a possible buyer within 3 weeks. The buyer put in a good offer and was going to close by XX/XX/XXXX. While this was going on i was figuring out a place to go. I ended up moving in with a woman who i have known for almost 8 years now. She is now my wife. So i moved in with her and the house was empty. After i went thrugh 3 seperate closing dates, the buyer backed out due to him not meeting stipulations with his bank. At this point, because i was helping with my now wifes bills in her apartment, i was not paying the mortgage but i was paying for oil, eletric, and maintaining the house. Once the buyer backed out i got back in contact with Chase bank to try their mortgage assistance program. Something i should have done off the rip but i made a mistake, i am human. So when i talked to Chase bank, they told me the only way i could be cinsidered for any loan modification or any mortgage assistance, i needed to be living in the property. At this point a foreclosure process had already began. So i agreed to move back into the house with my now wife and her XXXX year old son. We left her apartment and went back to the house in hopes to figure out a solution to the past balance and move forward in keeping and paying for this house. In the mean time, we were saving money. We both work full time and make more than enough to pay the {$1400.00} mortgage payment, but we were not able to obviously to pay montly payments because they wanted full payment which at this time was about {$10000.00} with the late fees, attorny fees for the foreclosure and past due payments. This was around XX/XX/XXXX when we moved back into the house. About 3 months after we moved in, we finally got word with the mortgage assistance. Chase bank told us that I was only approved for a short sale because there was no way to lower my interest rate '3.75 % ' or my montly payment of {$1400.00}. " I never asked to lower the payment, i offered to pay MORE to catch up. '' They told me that the house was affordable and that they could do nothing for me. Short sale was the only option. So i ended up putting it up for short sale. I had a solid buyer offer {$210000.00} for the house. Another month and a half went by, Chase bank ended up saying they wanted {$210000.00} for the house. The buyer backed out due to the fact he would have to come up with another {$4200.00} that they didnt have at the closing. At this point i beyond had enough. Chase bank sent me a letter saying that i had until XXXX, XXXX XXXX to have another buyer or the short sale would be terminated and the house would go back to a foreclosure process. It was at that time i found XXXX XXXX XXXX which is a law firm out of XXXX. California. They told me they have a 95 % success rate in turning around mortgages and helping people stay in their homes. This was what they specialized in. So i highered them. I submitted all the info thay needed on my mortgage and i paid them {$3500.00} for their retainer fee. They worked with me and contacted Chase bank over the last 3 months. This past saturday, XX/XX/XXXX i recieved a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX stating that my request for any sort of option to keep my house was declined, for the same reasons that were stated before when i was told 6 months prior i was only approved for short sale. Also stated that they could not lower the payments or interest. Which I NEVER WANTED OR ASKED FOR THAT. I feel there has to be some sort of way to fix this problem. My credit is shot now when it was a XXXX score when i purchased this house in XX/XX/XXXX. We have looked into a few apartments but due to this being on my credit, even with my wifes pretty decent credit score XXXX ' we are denied because of these unpaid payments. She makes {$15.00} an hour full time, but is not enough alone to get any sort of mortgage or any decent apartnent. I make {$24.00} an hour and have overtime every week. That money cant count on any application due to my bad credit score ive accumulated because of this situation. Togeather we NET {$5500.00} a month. Take home ... i find it hard to believe that Chase bank CANT work something out with us. We want to keep our home. We also have a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, which i had mentioned to Chase bank with what seems to be, no care in the world. At this point it does not seem we have anywhere to go if we lose this house. With a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and two full time decent paying jobs, i dont see what the huge issue is with letting us pay extra each month until what we owe is caught up, then putting the payments back to normal. I want to pay, we want to stay in the home. We just need the OK to start sending out the checks. At this point the past due balance has accumulated to just about {$24000.00} in 12 past payments now plus fees and attorny fees. Thank you.

Problem using a debit or ATM card
Complaint: I was attending a yoga class when my car was broken into and personal items were taken from my vehicle including my purse and wallet. The person who broke into my car decided to use my debit card at a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, charging over XXXX dollars. When the bank called me about the suspicious charges, I said that I did not make those charges, but I did say the card was in my possession because I did not know that my car had gotten broken into at the time. When I discovered that my car had gotten broke into, I immediately filed a police report and notified Chase. Chase gave me a temporary refund, but reversed the reimbursement, stating that in a letter the payments were authorized. When I called Chase to ask for my reimbursement, they said that there was nothing they can do about it. I have been a long time Chase customer and never had an issue with Chase, but I can not believe how unreasonable they were during this process. I could never spend that much money at a grocery store for just one transaction. I was hoping that they were able to work with me and get me my money back, but they have not contacted me since they said they would reopen the investigation on the fraudulent charges made on my card.

Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Complaint: I signed up for a United Explorer Chase credit card on XX/XX/XXXX through the United Airlines website, offering me a {$250.00} statement credit and XXXX bonus miles. I went through the full online application process and received a notification that day ( XX/XX/XXXX ) from Chase that my request had been approved. After booking my flight, I asked to speak to a United agent to see how I would receive my credit. She told me that Chase is in charge of the program and I would receive the credit on my first statement. Subsequently, on XX/XX/XXXX, I called Chase to confirm that the credit would show up against the United flight payment I booked on the card, only to be told that offer the {$250.00} credit would not be honored, and instead they were offering me XXXX bonus miles after spending {$2000.00} in the first three months. When I asked how that was possible given that I had signed up for the {$250.00} offer ( which was in fact the only reason I was enticed to get the card ), she couldn't give me an answer and told me she would take it up with Customer Service who would get back to me. I received a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX from Chase stating that indeed the {$250.00} offer would not be honored, stating that " one must apply through [ the United.com ] channel '' to receive this offer. When I called Chase to explain that I in fact had applied through United.com, I was told there was nothing he could do. After arguing for a while, I decided to simply cancel the card and file a complaint rather than wasting any more time with them. This seems like classic " bait and switch '' advertising that in my view is outright fraud. Not only should Chase lose my business for treating customers so poorly, but I believe they should be otherwise fined or publicly reprimanded to help other customers avoid being duped.

Opening an account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Unable to open an account
Complaint: In or around the summer of XXXX, my bank account was closed out by Chase bank. I was told that no information could be provided to my as to why. My wife had several accounts. Some of which were joint accounts with her and I and some she had added me to. I know a few people that have higher managerial roles within the bank and when I asked them to look into it for me, they advised that they closed my accounts based on a negative history with ANOTHER bank, XXXX XXXX XXXX. I pulled my consumer reports, both XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ), and my records are crystal clear. I don't owe any banks any money, not XXXX XXXX XXXX nor Chase. I used to work for XXXX XXXX XXXX and I bounced a check back in XXXX. I was terminated and all my accounts were closed. From then on, XXXX XXXX XXXX has me on a indefinite fraud block and says that I can't get an account with them until XXXX. I'm well aware that XXXX XXXX XXXX and Chase bank own XXXX which means that they can ultimately share internal data and records. Although they have the ability, it's an unethical and illegal practice. At best is discriminatory. Chase is Chase and XXXX XXXX XXXX is XXXX XXXX XXXX. I'm now in the position, both credit wise and financially, to become a Chase Private Client, and I am unable to take advantage of the benefits that many of my elite counterparts. Like I said, at best, not allowing me to be an account holder with Chase, is at best discriminatory. Because I have not negative history with Chase.
