Problem using a debit or ATM card
Complaint: To whom it may concern : On XX/XX/2019 I entered the CHASE Bank at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX VA, intending to deposit a sum of {$6000.00}. In the past I had always given the bank associated my cash deposit and it was counted manually, after which I was given a receipt. This time the bank associated urged me to make the deposit using an ATM machine, unlike the previous times. The clerk showed me how to deposit the money in the machine. The receipt I received from the machine credited my account with only {$3000.00}. The bank manager said there was no way to recount the money and I would have to rely on the banks accounting at the end of the day to correct the error.
The next day my account was credited with the missing {$3000.00}, but then I received a letter on XX/XX/XXXX, nearly a month later, declaring that the bank admitted to a miscount of only {$400.00}. I have complained several times at various levels and the bank refuses to admit their mistake.
This is outrageous. I had to deposit my money in a machine that the bank admits makes mistakes, and accept their word for correctly accounting for what they have done, whereas they will not accept my word for the amount I brought to the bank. I handle cash every day in my business, as I am a state employee of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and have been a Store Manager for The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control ( ABC ) for 18 years. I know how to manage and count cash. I would like the remaining {$2500.00} returned to my bank account.
I attach my original complaint letter to the CHASE bank, and copies of two letters from the bank, one apparently admitting their mistake and the other changing their conclusion.
I would greatly appreciate your agency helping me settle this bank matter as soon as possible.
Respectfully, XXXX XXXX XXXX

Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Complaint: Between XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX, 2019, my credit card was used to make several purchases at XXXX and XXXX stores at various locations around XXXX. I called Chase Fraud Operations to report these charges as fraudulent, and they credited my account while they investigated the charges. I then received a letter, dated XX/XX/XXXX ( attached ), stating that they had completed their investigation and that I was found responsible for the transactions and would be re-billed for them.
On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with XXXX XXXX ( sp? ), my fraud representative, and she stated that the transactions were made using a chip card that matched the card I had confirmed was in my possession. I reviewed the transactions again and confirmed that I did not make them, as they were at store locations I do not shop at and were made during the week when I was at work.
On XX/XX/XXXX, I called to report this, and the representative, XXXX, stated that they would file a dispute on my behalf for the re-billed transactions. I requested that they provide me with the specific addresses of the stores. They stated that they could not provide me with this information, but that if I filed a police report, law enforcement could contact them to request it. I did file a police report that same day ( XX/XX/XXXX ), and I submitted a copy of the report to Chase as documentation ( also attached to this complaint ). I also requested time stamps and a list of purchased items for each transaction ( as further evidence that I did not make the transactions ), and they stated that they did not have this information.
I received another letter, dated XX/XX/XXXX ( attached ), stating that Chase had investigated the charges again and confirmed their previous finding that they were valid, and that I would be re-billed for the charges.
A list of the transactions in question ( along with locations I was able to find by searching store numbers ) is below.
XX/XX/2019 : {$110.00} at XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2019 : {$110.00} at XXXX XXXXXXXX XX/XX/2019 : {$59.00} at XXXX XXXXXXXX XX/XX/2019 : {$120.00} at XXXX XXXXXXXX XX/XX/2019 : {$68.00} at XXXX # XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) XX/XX/2019 : {$57.00} at XXXX # XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2019 : {$74.00} at XXXX # XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) XX/XX/2019 : {$65.00} at XXXX # XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Add-on products and services
Complaint: Chase Sapphire Preferred card includes a roadside assistance benefit. I had an auto breakdown on XX/XX/11 and sought to use this benefit but was denied.
The breakdown occurred outside of cell phone service. I had to hike to a yellow box emergency phone operated by the California Highway Patrol. The emergency phone was able to connect me to a tow company but could not connect me to Chase customer service to notify them that I was accessing the benefit.
I paid the tow company {$360.00} out-of-pocket ( charged to the card ) with the expectation that I would be able to file for at least a partial reimbursement of the cost. When I contacted Chase to do this, they informed me that the benefit only applies if you contact Chase in advance of the tow. This was not possible in my situation.
Chase does not qualify the benefit language by specifying that the benefit only applies when a car is traveling in an area where cell phone service or a pay phone is available.
I called Chase and spent an hour on the phone trying to resolve this. In the end, however, they bewilderingly instructed me to contact the towing company for a reimbursement. The towing company does not owe me anything and is under no obligation to reimburse. Chase, however, is.

Sued you without properly notifying you of lawsuit
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX filed a false claim against me in the District Court of Maryland for XXXX XXXX stating they were the owner of an account I had with Chase Bank in the amount of {$1000.00}. An Affidavit of Service was filed with the court made with false statements that the Process Server personally served me on XX/XX/XXXX, which is completely false. I was never served by this processor. A Bill of Sale was filed with the Courts which was dated XX/XX/XXXX and stated it is by and between XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, a Delaware limited liability company ( the " Seller '' ), and XXXX XXXX XXXX, a Delaware limited liability company ( the " Buyer '' ). The Bill of Sale is clearly from a junk debt buyer and does not mention my name, social security number, and original credit account with Chase Bank. XXXX XXXX XXXX is not the legal account owner of any accounts I previously had with Chase Bank. I was not an educated consumer and was intimidated after finding out I had a judgment against me and was receiving a notification that my wages were going to be garnished in XXXX of XXXX and I contacted the Attorneys, XXXX XXXX and XXXX, who represented XXXX XXXX XXXX according to the notice I received. I made payments to avoid a garnishment after the law firm used deceptive tactics to make me believe I owed them money. I had a lot of financial difficulties and could not afford to make payments continuously. I was not aware that XXXX XXXX XXXX was not the legal owner of my account until recently after my wages were garnished and I started doing legal research and found out XXXX XXXX XXXX had violated the Consumer Financial Protection Act of XXXX, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. XXXX XXXX and the attorneys representing them did not verify that the records, including the Bill of Sale were accurate and legal before filing a lawsuit against me and causing me mental anguish and emotional distress by garnishing my wages. They will not attempt to prove standing and are now refusing to provide me documentation I am requesting to prove they are the legal owner of my account and had a legal license as a collection agency in the State of Maryland.

You never received your bill or did not know a payment was due
Complaint: In XXXX of 2015 Chase Bank put a 30 and a 60 day late payment on my account. This was a business account that was supposed to be closed in XXXX but due to some charges after our business closing which should have been denied, the account got charged and became active again. We closed the account because we had closed the business, and since the business did not exist at the location anymore we did not receive any mail or bill so that we could pay this off on time. In XXXX when I went into the bank I was told that I had this negative balance on this card which is now closed due to non payment and I started to pay the balance back down. I have been a long time Chase customer and have never had any issues with any payment and would request that this late payment be taken off my history. This has been affecting my credit history and holding me back and has greatly affected my credit score.

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: Chase Auto received payments from my insurer XXXX and GAP for balance on Total Vehicle Loss. I made monthly payments until the claim was resolved. Sometime after final payment. Chase demanded an additional {$59.00} to cover payoff. This amount was reported to the credit bureaus resulting in a dramatic scoring drop. This has effected my ability to get my home refinanced.

Complaint: To whom it XXXX concern, I am writing to report a fraud of {$2600.00} by a woman named XXXX XXXX. I had posted a post on XXXX XXXX page and for sale page about a housing post that I was putting my room on rent. This woman who messaged me asking to rent my place, she said that she would pay XXXX upfront and from that XXXX will be for my deposit and the rest XXXX, I had to send it to her movers. She wrote me a check for {$2800.00}, which I attached below. I added it to my account and when I saw the pending balance, I had sent her the money in multiple payments to some guy named XXXX XXXX, who is supposedly her movers. 2 days later when I check my account the check has bounced out and I message her that her check bounced out and tried calling her but she was using a textnow number ( fake number ). The text messages between me and her are in chronological sequence. You can see from my repeated text I sent in the screenshot below, where the check she mailed bounced, she didn't respond to my texts, I called chase freaking out to report this fraud because {$2600.00} is significant amount of money for someone who is a college student, and doesn't have much savings to my name, and now providing proof. Lastly when chase refunded me the money in the form of a credit, I was delighted that chase made things right for me. I messaged her saying I got my money back and she responded that I am happy you got your money back, proving that she did try to scam me. Also when I researched her name on XXXX she had sent the same text messages to multiple people, and scammed multiple people. I have provided Chase my bank with proof of all the text messages, the check she sent me, the screenshot of the check bouncing out.

Complaint: I got divorced XX/XX/XXXX. I was awarded the house in the divorce and immediately started the process to assume the mortgage with our lender, Chase, to remove my ex-husband 's name fro the loan. After a lengthy process, this was finalized in XX/XX/XXXX. A few weeks ago, I received a letter in the mail from XXXX XXXX stating that they had purchased my loan from Chase but Chase would remain as the servicer of the loan. This letter from XXXX XXXX has both my name as well as my ex-husband 's name on it. Concerned, I called Chase Mortgage on XX/XX/XXXX and was told that according to their records, I am the only owner. However, we called XXXX XXXX and they verified that their record lists two owners on the loan ( both me and my ex-husband ). I went into a local Chase Mortgage branch office ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) the next day and spoke with an associate named XXXX and a manager named XXXX. They called into their mortgage department and was told that the issue was that my ex-husband 's name was still listed on the deed. They weren't sure why this wasn't dealt with when I assumed the loan, but that in order to fix it, I would need to fax a letter to Chase Mortgage, asking the to remove his name from the deed and then contact XXXX XXXX to get this corrected on the loan. I did this same day at their branch location and was promised a call back on Monday from XXXX. I received no call back so I called again on Tuesday. I have made many calls to XXXX at the branch office as well as the Chase Mortgage Executive Office ( where I was told me case was being handled ). XXXX isn't returning my calls and each time I call the Chase Mortgage executive office, I am told that the case manager assigned to my case, named XXXX, is not available but they will put in a callback request. I never get a call back. I've been given a case number of XXXX. In the meantime, I have gone online to the website for the XXXX County Clerks Office and located the request to have my ex-husband 's name from the deed, filed on the day of my divorce, XX/XX/XXXX. And now I remember my lawyer walking me to the clerk 's window to file this document and pay the fee on that day. So Chase 's explanation of that being the source of the issue is completely false. The simple truth is that they screwed up by sending old information to XXXX XXXX when selling my mortgage to them and now they refuse to return my calls or make this right. I'm very concerned that this will cause major issues should I ever decide to sell the house and if I was to pass away, the bank would see my ex-husband as the owner of my house.
