Complaint: My bank account was withdrawn {$12.00} for fees for using a non Huntington ATM. This charge happened weeks after I actually used the ATM. They quickly charged me more and more overdraft fees of ridiculous amounts. I spoke to a customer service agent who told me that as long as I made my account positive by XXXX XXXX, they would refund me the overdraft fees. I did this BEFORE XXXX XXXX and they refused to honor their word. In my eyes they lied to me and stole my money. I should not have owed them {$200.00} for a {$12.00} charge in the first place. They also refused to honor their word when I made a payment promise to them. I was told I would have {$60.00} in my account after the fees were removed, which did n't happen. The customer service agents were very rude and unprofessional and refused to help me.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, XXXX, I purchased a used vehicle from XXXX XXXX of XXXX, in XXXX, OH. Three days after purchase of my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX service lights came on when I started it. The service lights were XXXX control. I immediately contacted my salesman XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX making him aware of the issue. After communicating via text messages, I took the car in for servicing. This was only the beginning of the issues I 've had with this vehicle.
My wife and I have always leased new vehicles. I purchase a second vehicle to prevent from going over my miles on my current lease. XXXX XXXX stands on the premise of servicing the community where their dealerships are. I served on the XXXX XXXX XXXX, I wanted to make a purchase near where I live.
I 've had several issue with this vehicle, as of today XXXX XXXX, XXXX the car is not operable. My father and I tried to jump the battery with no results. It appears nothing was done to this vehicle at trade in. I understand the vehicle was purchased " AS IS - Without Warranty '' but never did I expect to have issues 72 hours after purchase that have proven to be ongoing and dangerous. I have n't had the vehicle 6 months.
Please review all attachments to include my attempts to resolve this issue with the dealership. I 'm the XXXX, therefore I understand how some things happen. I 've invested a lot of time, money and suffered inconvenience. I contacted the management at XXXX XXXX trying to give them opportunity to make this right. Complaint: I stopped at our local Huntington Bank in XXXX OH. to get information about a construction mortgage loan. They took my information and XXXX XXXX XXXX called me. I told him we currently own property that I 've corrected the drainage, cleared the trees and installed the driveway. He stated that they could not provide a loan because that 's considered preconstruction. I have done everything to what the country Building Department has wanted. I 've pulled the permits had the inspections and everything passed. So, how can a bank supercede a county building inspector? He was more concerned about my land, that I own, than modeling a loan. How is this fair? I feel discriminated against for upgrading my property. What lending laws did I break?

Complaint: On XXXX, XXXX, my wife and I applied to Huntington Mortgage and were told it would take 45 to 60 days to complete the loan. On the initial telephone call, they ran our credit scores and said the scores and the credit were good enough for a conventional loan. The loan process began.
Huntington asked for an appraisal of the home ; it appraised at {$320000.00}. I requested {$160000.00} to pay off the current XXXX mortgage, plus {$18000.00} to pay off construction debt and {$27000.00} to pay off an automobile loan. This totals {$200000.00} leaving {$110000.00} in equity - roughly 35 % equity in the home after the loan would have been completed.
Also, Huntington quoted my new loan with them would be {$20.00} per month less than my current mortgage payment ; plus, we would n't have a car payment. This car payment was issued by Huntington XX/XX/XXXX.
In XX/XX/XXXX, this home burned down and we had to rebuild. I left my job ( have since returned to it ) to rebuild the home. XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX refused to release insurance money needed to complete the house. XXXX withheld this money because they said the repairs were not done - however - the inspection was based on a repair list from the insurance adjuster based on the house that had burned and been torn down. Please reference your Mortgage Complaint number XXXX. This caused financial difficulties finishing the home. We were forced to move into the home when it was not completed. We financially needed this loan, and Huntington realized this, leading us to believe the loan would be approved once we fixed some items.
We spent roughly {$3500.00} to satisfy Huntington. This {$3500.00} came directly out of our monthly budget, causing even further financial difficulties. All of the requirements from Huntington 's inspector were satisfied, and Huntington agreed they were. We felt comfortable spending the {$3500.00} only because Huntington was sure we would get the loan.
Huntington kept stalling, asking for paperwork already sent. They regularly pulled our credit reports, which lowered our credit scores. XX/XX/XXXX, Huntington said our current mortgage company, XXXX, had us on a partial loan payment agreement, but we were not on any such agreement. We previously clarified the issue. XXXX removed it from our credit. The bank questioned other credit issues, and I showed some issues were errors ; however, Huntington continuously stalled by asking numerous questions repeatedly, all the while we spent money that caused us difficulties.
On XXXX XXXX, XXXX, I expected a call to close the loan. Instead, the loan originator said the loan was turned down because of the {$40.00} late fee we mentioned above. I explained the credit card company representative stated he did n't know why the late fee was there because I have had a XXXX balance since XX/XX/XXXX, and that the money had been " refunded. '' The late fee went on in XXXX, XXXX. Why did Huntington not see this at the beginning of the loan and not at this later date when the loan was rejected? Also, why had they not seen this when they gave me the car loan? I have done everything, answered every question that Huntington requested and do n't feel the loan should have been turned down.
After reviewing the entire loan with credit advisors, lawyers, and the FHA, I feel that the loan should not have been turned down.
Our son who has XXXX, caused our home to tragically burn down. We have faced a series of hardships since, including financial institutions ' inaccuracies and errors and continual reconstruction problems. We have received little to no assistance.
After being told Huntington could do nothing for me, I contacted Senator XXXX XXXX 's office and was referred to the Ohio Dept. of Housing, which got me in touch with the FHA in XXXX. A second complaint follows on another form involving that matter.

Complaint: Last year the weekend of XXXX XXXX, 2015 there was a glitch in their debit mastercards. Customers were charged twice for their purchases. Huntington did go through and refund all the double charges.
- Some customers like me had checks bounce and payments bounce because of the excess of charges caused the account to go negative. I had to pay Return Check Fees to the merchant 's that were sent back. Huntington refused to cover any other merchant fees.
Huntington offers a 24 hour grace for checks that may not clear this gives you a chance to go in and get your account caught up. The problem is you do not know if they will give you a chance for the 24 hour grace or not there is no clear guidelines. You are told it is at the Bank 's discretion. I have a disclaimer for the 24 hour grace if XXXX XXXX needs it.
I have written the Consumer and Financial Protection Bureau because of the excessive fees that Huntington has imposed on my account. In XXXX some of them fees were finally returned.
Our account has been in good standing and in XXXX I found out that huntington took my account from a " Huntington XXXX account '' to a " Asterisk Free Checking '' without notice or my permission. I have asked why and they can not answer my question. They tried to say it was to save me money. Which makes no sense because I did n't ask to have it changed. I did not want it changed and was not notified that it was changed.
Then on XXXX XXXX, I found out a check I wrote a week earlier was bounced back. I had {$14.00} in my account and thought the check cleared. The check was for {$35.00} and they sent it back.
I called and called and tried to find out why I did not get " 24 hour grace '' and asked why? They said it was at bank discretion ( We have had 24 hour grace for larger amounts ). Immediately I paid the Overdraft fee to bring the account current.
On XXXX XXXX, the check went through again. I was charged another {$37.00} on the same check.
The problem is Huntington refuses to return any money to me. They say they can not return any money because they credited my account too many times.
I then asked why I was not offered a 24 hour grace and finally I am told " you overdraft too many times and you are no longer eligible '', I asked why I was not notified?
The bank 's reply was " We do not have to notify you ''.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I was charged a NSF fee for XXXX due to a check I wrote around 2 weeks before this date.
Upon investigation and many phone calls I was told the {$37.00} could not be refunded because Huntington has credited me too many times in the last year. One of these credits is due to the last complaint with the CFPB.
I also found out that Huntington changed my account without my permission to a " Asterix free checking '' When I had a " Huntington 5 account '' I found out I was using ATM and being charged fees also, then found out my account was no longer the Huntington 5 account.
There was no notice of my account changed, there was no reason from huntington on why it was changed and this was done without my permission.
I am very upset that the check that was bounced back was not covered under the huntington 24 hour grace. What is disturbing is nobody can answer why it was not covered. All I am told is " It is up to the bank ''. The check would of put my account negative {$21.00} if I would of gotten the 24 hour grace. Thus would of been paid ( I did pay the NSF charges the same day.
The disturbing part is the Huntington Customer Service. The local bank declared " Personal checks are not covered by 24 hour grace '' Call center agents tell me that I am not eligible for 24 hour grace anymore because of my past account history. Well I was never sent a notice that 24 hour grace is not longer available for me.
The local banking center says I am eligible for 24 hour grace still and that they are sorry my account was changed without my permission.
This is a very frustrating bank and I was also told I can never have any money refunded until XX/XX/XXXX. Because you are only allowed {$50.00} a year and the {$300.00} from my last CFPB complaint exceeded that. I thought this would be a good jester from Huntington and did not realize if I made anymore mistakes I was going to be staked out and have all my privileges removed.
