Complaint: I made a payment to Discover for {$32.00} ( payment due date ) on XX/XX/ 2019. On XX/XX/2019 at XXXX XXXX I get a email from Discover stating that my account has been closed because of another collection account. So i call Discover that morning and spoke to a agent regarding the matter, and I was placed on hold while she spoke with her supervisor. Once back on the phone she informed me that I would have to give them 24 hours to look into the matter and to call back XXXX XXXX 2019 before XXXX XXXX. I called back on XX/XX/, 2019 and spoke to someone and was transferred from department to department ( given the run around ). I was once again told several times that my account was closed because of a previous account that has been charged off. I was then transferred to a supervisor which in turn transferred me to someone in another department named XXXX. Once XXXX got on the phone he ended up transferring me to some company called XXXX XXXX XXXX ( which does business with Discover ) and spoke to a lady there which placed me hold after getting my name and social. Once someone got back on the phone it was a male agent now, which asked me for the same information that the previous lady asked for ( name and social security number ) and he informed me that I am not showing up in his system and he cant help me ( company that handles Discover collection accounts ). so I called back to customer service and was connected to XXXX in XXXX Arizona which switched the story and told me that my account was closed because of Discover system ( a late payment ). I told her that she was giving me an excuse and her own opinion of why my account was closed and that I have spoken to several agents that made it clear why my account was closed. I was transferred to someone else and they gave me a phone number to another department and transferred me to that department. Once connected it was the right department after all ( after 8 different agents and 3 phone calls later ), and was told that my account was closed because of an account that had been charged off. But once investigated I was informed that the account in question whoever the person is has my first and last name, and date of birth but a different social security number and that I was right that the account is not mines.

Complaint: My daughter and I were purchasing a house. On XX/XX/2018, the closing attorney requested a wire transfer in the amount of {$28000.00} for the down payment. We went to our local XXXX XXXX branch. At the time we were negotiating the wire transfer, my daughter presented a new set of instructions she had received. The bank associate executed the wire transfer without verifying the information. Within two hours we became aware that it was a fraudulent set of instructions. We immediately went to the branch and were told there was nothing they could do to stop the transfer. They would report it to the Fraud Department. A week later the XXXX XXXX Fraud Dept. called for details. In the mean time, we reported the fraud to the FBI and the XXXX XXXX Police. A detective at the Police Department called a contact at the Discover Bank and immediately got the account frozen. At that time there was still approx. {$21000.00} in the account. It has now been 10 months and I can not get the Discover Bank to give me my money back. I call XXXX XXXX and they say Discover Bank has not sent them anything. I called Discover Bank and they won't talk to me, so I got the closing attorney to call and they told him we have to go through XXXX XXXX. Why can't I get my money returned.

Complaint: I am writing this complaint as I have exhausted all other options. For several years, my family and I have been victims of credit card fraud, bank fraud, and have all had our credit scores immensely fall.
My mother, a government worker ( USPS ) for over 30 years has a credit score of XXXX after 2 fraudulent accounts were opened in her name by XXXX XXXX XXXX and Discover Bank.For 20+ years my mothers credit score and credit history was perfect, 750+ credit and fico scores for over 20 years and in a matter of two years her credit devastated.
I, a XXXX year old college graduate have been unable to even open a credit card. There is one account that is currently on my credit report and several Hard Inquiries. I have filed FTC reports but that did not help. I have filed fraud for these inquiries and account and yet no proof is provided that they are my accounts. The credit card account in question is a discover card with a balance of {$1200.00}. Please help me get my credit back on track.

Complaint: I open up a fraud investigation on a credit card account discover financial service and its has a high balance of XXXX and I didnt apply for this card and it was open on XXXX with a credit limit of XXXX and never applied and I send XXXX and XXXX documents to have this account to be removed and it was put back on my credit report on XXXX and I called XXXX yesterday on XXXX to have the credit block in place and they refused to do so and protect me from fraud and I have a membership with XXXX and XXXX never explain that the company has a claim dept for customers who had fraud charges I have a membership with XXXX and they refuse to remove that account off my credit report and its hurts my score and it went down to XXXX and Im so worried about my current credit cards and they will be closed due to low credit score ... .XXXX told me I need to contact discover to have this fruad account removed and I contacted discover too many times and at first they said I wasnt held liable for this account and few weeks later they said I cancel the fraud claim and I never made a request to cancel my fraud claim discover credit card resume it and they are taking too long to resolve it its been over a year ... Complaint: An authorized user was added to my Discover credit card. They won't tell me the name or date that it happened. So far I have found over {$10000.00} of fraudulent charges because of this.
I have provided proof that my computer and online account was hacked, that they sent cards to addresses that I've never lived at, have filed a FTC identity theft report, and filed for corrections to my credit report. Discover said they conducted investigations, but when I would call to ask for updates, the client services department would have no record of investigations. Eventually, some of the charges were looked into. They claimed no proof of fraud ( despite everything I provided and no evidence that it was a legitimate claim ) and then re-charged my card for the amounts disputed, even though they never provided a debit while investigating. I've had 4 card numbers opened, immediately fraudulently charged, and then closed over the last year and a half. Each time a mysterious " TRANSFER BALANCE '' charges show up, even though no one at Discover can tell me what they are for.

Complaint: Dear Officer, My discover cashback debit account ( 8359 ) has been posted with a check withdraw with the amount {$4800.00}. However, it turned out the check is not wrote from my account, and the people who wrote the check is not related to me at all. It was Discovers ' system error that mistakenly link my account to somebody else 's check.However, if I did not notice this transaction, my money will be transferred out of my account.
It was the 2nd time that I found out Discover bank posted a completely unrelated check to my account. I can not rule out if there are other wrong transactions that I am not even aware of. I have to fill an official complaints to protect my rights because this type issues happen over and over again.
Due the lack of safety and accuracy by the Discover system, it costs me financial loss as well as tons of my time to communicate again and again with their customer services. Therefore, I urge the bank to give me an official solution to prevent from these issues and pay me compensation for all my loss in money and time because of their wrong-doings.

Complaint: In XX/XX/2018, I discovered that my ex husband opened a joint credit card account without my knowledge, which I was alerted to when it impacted my credit score negatively. I filed an Identity Theft Report with the FTC, the 3 credit reporting bureaus and Discover card ( the issuing creditor ) on XX/XX/18. Discover claimed to " investigate '' the matter but did so without contacting me at all. Their determination was that the account was opened online without my signature but with my correct personal information, had been open for 4 years so they claim it is a valid joint account, the credit card information went back on my credit report and is again affecting my credit score negatively.
I NEVER gave permission or consent to be a joint member on this account. I have never used this credit card account, not one single purchase. I never saw one credit card statement that came to the house. This account didn't exist to my knowledge prior to XX/XX/2018. It was opened over the internet, not in person ; there is nothing to indicate I am a willing member of this joint account. My ex husband had my personal information because we were once a couple, pure and simple ; he then used that information fraudulently. I want Discover to recognize this is legitimate fraud, to remove my liability from this debt and remove it from my credit report.

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: I have private student loans with discover. There are a number of loans and I have been struggling to pay and get a lower payment. They charged off several of them on XX/XX/2019. They claimed that they called me but I never received the call and they did not leave message. They called on XX/XX/2019 and I spoke to them. I asked about reversing the charged off loans and was advised that they have a great reversal department. When I called that department after bringing the remaining loans current they advised that they would not reverse but would settle for 70 % of the amount owed but that I would have to make a down payment of over {$7000.00}, and that the loans would have to be paid off in 5 years instead of 10. I advised that that was quite obviously impossible to which they responded there were no other options. I am trying to pay the loans and work with them but they make it such that even with their so-called options it is still impossible to pay. So essentially the only option is to have mine and my father 's credit forever ruined. They are worse than loan sharks.
