Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX and I am XXXX years old. In XXXX 2015 I received a phone call from XXXX saying my computer was ready to crash and needed protection. It scared me to think it might crash and I would lose everything. They said they could fix it, and protect it, if I purchased their program. I accepted their advice, and offer, and used my XXXX card as payment. However, after thinking about it, I did not have a good feeling and worried it was a scam. The very next morning I spoke with XXXX and XXXX to cancel it and issue a credit. XXXX was not happy I wanted to do that, but said it would be done. I spoke with XXXX and they issued a pending credit, which showed on my last statement. In late XXXX we moved and I no longer even have that computer. I just received my most recent bill and the credit was reversed. Both I, and my husband have been on the phone with XXXX and XXXX today trying to resolve this. We called XXXX first and they said to call XXXX. I then spoke with a woman there who said it had been cancelled. She connected me to someone else, but i was disconnected. We are looking to you to get this resolved as soon as possible. Thank you.

Late fee

Credit card:

Complaint: My complaint is with Discover Card. I have been a card holder with them for over 4 years and have never missed a payment, I always pay on the due date and receive email reminders regarding the account. I simply made an oversight on my bill due XXXX XXXX, 2015. I had gone on their website, as normal on the due date and inadvertently, I did not hit " submit '' after entering my payment information. I realized I had made an error the following day and promptly scheduled the payment one day past the due date. I asked them via chat and an email to wave the late fee due to my impeccable payment history. They declined both the requests and advised me of email alerts again which I already have set on the account. I feel they are being unfair because I was an authorized user on my spouse 's discover credit card account that fell behind and he recently had to file bankruptcy due to an under performing business that he shared ownership in. He is listed on my account as an authorized user as well. I am also a former employee of discover and was given a very low fixed interest rate on the account. I feel this is also a factor as about a year ago they lowered my credit line sighting too many balances close to the credit line which was not the case as most of my other creditors raised my limits around the same time without me even requesting increases. The decrease on the credit line also mysteriously got lowered at the same time my spouse 's discover account had fallen a couple payments behind. So I feel that they are using his history and his bankruptcy to treat me unfairly as well. I 'm quite sure they have treated other former employees the same and are using very deceptive practices. They also do n't follow FDCPA regulations because when my spouse 's discover account was in collections they would at times leave more than XXXX message per day on the same phone number which is not in compliance with FDCPA regulations. All I want is a {$25.00} adjustment from a company who makes XXXX of dollars. It is not the monetary value of the late fee that is discerning rather the blatant disregard for a customer of 4 years who has never been late previously. In essence I feel that because of the card act and my low fixed interest rate and their inability to raise the interest rate without just cause, that they are bullying me into voluntarily closing the account as they are not able to make a significant profit off of my credit card account as the operations cost are somewhat equal to the revenue they generate from my account. With ten years experience working in the credit card industry for several of the world 's largest credit card issuers the general rule of thumb is that customers are eligible for a courtesy late fee waver once every 12 months for an open account in good standing. They failed to adhere to the rule of thumb in this case. With these unfair practices I find it hard to see how Discover has a reputation for delivering superior customer service with ratings just behind XXXX XXXX. I do n't intend to sit back and let discover bully me as a consumer.

Complaint: I opened an online savings account with Discover Bank with the promotion code XXXX, which was to award new savings account customers with {$100.00} if they open a new savings account by XXXX/XXXX/2015 and fund with at least {$15000.00} by XXXX/XXXX/2015. When I entered the promo code in the account application process, it immediately showed the terms of the promotion, so I felt confident it was being applied to my account. I opened the account on XXXX/XXXX/2015, and funded it over {$15000.00} by XXXX/XXXX/2015. However, now that the 30 days has passed since funding ( the specified time frame in which the promotion was to be awarded ), I contacted Discover and they informed me that they had no record of a promotional code being used to open my account. I would not have opened the account, or had the predictable transaction pattern, had I not signed up for this very specific offer which appeared to be successfully applied when I opened the account. They are now saying it will take them 8 weeks to investigate my case, for a promotion that was supposed to have paid out in 4 weeks already. This seems like an extreme amount of time.

Complaint: On XXXX, I signed up for a double cashback promotion that Discover had offered to its existing cardmembers as well as new cardmembers. Yesterday, I chatted in to make sure it was still on my account. To my disbelief, the chat representative told me they did n't see anything about it on my account and that I had never called in to add the promotion to my account, which is false. I know for a fact I called in, but they oddly have no records of it. I chatted in a month or two ago to confirm ( but chat was a separate issue ) and they confirmed I 'd receive double cashback XX/XX/XXXX. I called in today and was told the same as yesterday. All I want is the promotion I was promised months ago.

Complaint: On XXXX/XXXX/15, my spouse, suddenly and unexpectedly, passed away. XX/XX/XXXX, it was discovered that there was a Discover credit card in my name, ( wrong middle initial ). I immediately contacted Discover and was advised to submit a fraud claim. I had no knowledge of the card, no physical card, had never used the card. The only activity on the card were payments, as the credit was balance transfer. After several months of dispute, dozens of phone conversations, and mail communications with Discover, they continue to say that I am responsible. When I have asked about how the credit card was opened, I have received different responses, but have been told it does not matter. I truly had no knowledge of finances, in our home. I have been left with only my income, ( no life insurance, no pension or Soc Sec from my spouse ). I can not afford to pay off this bill, approximately {$6700.00}, that I had no knowledge of.

Delinquent account

Complaint: I received a call from a company that would n't identify themselves and immediately started recording the call. I asked who it was, and they would n't say and started asking who I was. I told them I would n't say unless they identified themselves. It went back and forth like that several times until they finally identified themselves as XXXX Business Card. They were recording this entire time. It turned out I had missed a payment. My complaint is that when calls like this are made, they need to ( 1 ) identify themselves immediately and ( 2 ) ask permission before they start recording. Neither happened. If this is not a requirement, it should be. I am also now concerned that XXXX has flagged my account as a collection problem or as an uncooperative customer. In a world where people are increasingly getting scammed by callers who are insistent or downright bullying, there is plenty of reason to not trust someone who calls and exhibits these same behaviors. And it most definitely should be prohibited for any credit card company to use these tactics, which puts them in the same league as phone and online criminals.

Complaint: I filed an complaint with Discover on XX/XX/2015, I advised Discover that, Title 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2, " Responsibilities of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies, '' mandates the reporting of only accurate, verifiable information. Put another way, the FCRA requires that all items on my credit report must be verifiable, accurate and complete. In this regard, I hereby requested a copy of the original contract, signed by me, that began this alleged debt. This copy must contain my authentic signature, and must be mailed to the address provided below. As I am sure Discover are aware, if the documentation requested above is not available, the disputed item must be removed from my credit report, otherwise Discover company will be in violation of the FCRA. Unless the original, signed contract is provided to me within 10 days of your receipt of this letter, I will be forced to assume that Discover are intent on failing to comply with the law. In this case, the item must be removed from my credit report. If Discover fail to respond in writing, signed by hand, in a timely manner, I will assume that Discover are in error and this matter will be challenged. As Discover further know, this notice has the same effect as a dispute of the accuracy of the alleged debt and Discover claims. This notice is an attempt to collect evidence of your noncompliance in case further action is required. It is not a statement, election or waiver of status. If you fail to comply within 15 days from the dispute dated XXXX, I will file a complaint with the CFPB, as well as the XXXX. As of today XXXX, Discover have not provided the contract with my authentic signature that begun this alleged debt. The allotted time for dispute pursuant to the FCRA has expired and the tradeline is currently reporting on the CRA.
