Complaint: I got a new discover card because they had the promotion of 10 % back for upto XXXX payed with XXXX pay. There should have been an other 10 % cash back after 13 months. There was no limitation like gift cards, or need to have recipes or share purchase itemized data with discover. but now Discover do not awarded any bonuses for transactions they subjected to have gift cards included. So the process is to flag bigger dollar amount transactions and make the customer provide the information if he wants the cash back bonus. SO at a nut shell Discover changed the therms retroactivly. Discover has no level XXXX data so now they want recipes for purchase made XXXX so i guess discover does not care about privacy laws neither ....

Complaint: I had opened a Discover Savings account using a promotion. I fulfilled all the terms and conditions mentioned in the promotion code including entering the promotion code also. Just to be on the safer side I got a cross confirmation from Discover that i will get the promotional bonus also-i had the email conversation via secure message center. Later when i am expecting that i will get the promotional bonus - i come to know that Discover is asking me whether i had entered promotional bonus or not? May be they are having second thoughts now. And most interesting - why they are deleting the messages like this? I can see that on the website they have mentioned that " all messages are going to be deleted after 30 days '' ... why??? In this age of Bigdata and analytics ( where storage is so cheap ) and moreover for legal reasons - financial institution should not do something like that - why DFS is not following it?

Complaint: I was laid off and am currently receiving unemployment. I have explained to Discover Card Services that due to my circumstance, I am unable to make the full payment, and have asked them for their help regarding a hardship payment reduction plan, and they have refused saying they can not do any better than my current interest rate of XXXX %. I have continued to make a reduced payment as to the amount that I can possibly afford, yet they continue to call and demand more from me, and have said that they will turn report this to the credit agencies. In the meantime because I am unable to make the full payment they are tacking on late fees.

Complaint: I have a private student loan from Discover. I am currently a XXXX, making XXXX per year and can not repay my loans at this time. With all other loans, including all other federal and private loans I am able to apply for forebearance as long as I supply proof that I am still in training. Discover has told me that I " can only be in residency 4 years '' and that my ability to forebear my loan is over and I must pay up. I have explained to multiple discover reps who call to harrass me that I am still in traning. They continue to tell me that I can only be in training for 4 years and now I have to pay. I make $ XXXX. Complaint: On XXXX XXXX Discover announced that they would offer 10 % cashback ( doubles 1 year later to 20 % for new members enrolled in double promo which was me ) for all XXXX Pay purchases using a Discover card. Press release available XXXX I contacted them XXXX to ask about any transaction restrictions and advised there were none. Due to the incredible value of the promo, {$1000.00} cashback on {$10000.00} purchases doubled to {$2000.00}, I decided to buy XXXX Watch for nearly {$350.00} as it would be profitable. On XXXX, Discover changed the terms to exclude gift cards. They had 9 days of internet speculation and the promo was already live and then they decided to exclude gift cards. They did not, however, update their terms and conditions until later that evening. I have the original terms along with my XXXX conversation which I will upload. Further, on XXXX XXXX, they sent messages to many card members stating purchases we made contained a gift card and would not be eligible unless we provide a receipt to prove otherwise. There are many reports online of people who received these emails for purchases that did NOT contain a gift card. This means Discover is guessing based on transaction amounts and retailers and now, days short of two months after announcing the promo, expecting cardholders to have saved receipts we were not told to save. They are placing the burden on us. Guilty until proven innocent. In addition, Discover has no definition of what is a 'gift card '. I purchased some XXXX Cash Reloads which are not classified as gift cards and are used to load a XXXX account. So Discover has changed terms twice, once to exclude gift cards and now two months later to require receipts we were not told to retain. We only have 21 days to provide receipts. I authorized Discover to obtain receipts XXXX which they said may take 30 days. How can Discover run a promo that they do n't have the infastructure to support? If they ca n't prove a gift card purchase, they ca n't exclude it. If they want receipts, we need to be told to keep them. It 's just ridiculous and now I 'm out an Apple Watch and many transactions I did assuming I would get 10 % cashback doubled to 20 % because Discover has gone back on their word and been so incredibly unprofessional.

Complaint: I asked Discover to issue me a new credit card so that XXXX could n't find me to charge an annual recurring charge of {$59.00} for an account that was set up by my minor child without my consent. XXXX was not helpful when I called and kept asking for information I did n't know because I did n't set up the account. Discover issued me a new card with a new number and promised me that XXXX would not find me. The next year ( in XXXX ) the XXXX charge showed up on my new card! I have been disputing this since XXXX XXXX and talked to numerous people. In the end ( after disputing and removing XXXX different times ), Discover made me pay the {$59.00} XXXX charge AND XXXX cancelled the account. The last time I called, the agent conferenced in XXXX and witnessed how difficult XXXX is to deal with and that it was impossible to resolve without knowing certain information about the account ( tag number or something like that ). So here are XXXX giant companies who no longer have the ability to provide customer service to XXXX small customer.

Complaint: I was out on maternity leave. ( XXXX - XXXX ) I was coming up short on my payment, so I called before my bill was due. ( this is for the bill due XXXX ) I told them my situation, said I would be back on track by XXXX. They were awesome about it, explained there was no pay options available to me at the time, but offered me XXXX dollars in hardship money. Thats when I had someone from Discover hounding me about a payment and daily had to explain my situation. That when someone said you can stop the calls by setting up promise to pay ... XXXX long story short, apparently I felt obligated to set it up. I had every intention on getting right back on track. A DOUBLE payment was taken out the same week I said I could n't pay. I know I would have not authorized that payment!!! It over drafted my account and has been bad since! I asked to listen to the tape, they placed on hold, they listened to it, came back and said I had authorized it. I know in my heart I would not have, I did n't have the money! I asked to listen to the tape, they would not allow me. Is there a law that prevents customers to listen to their own recorded calls? There has been several contacts between the company and I. My history with the company has been excellent, until the reason events. Recently I have became very very upset! I 'm loosing my cool with this situation. ( Not my norm ) I made the comment that this can make people hurt themselves. They sent the cops to my house. Boarder line harassment. I just want to listen to my tapes, the dbl payment was not authorized by me! Thanks for your time in advance!

Complaint: Our complain is about new Discover bank Online Saving account - we received the proposal from them by mail for opening this new account, XX/XX/2015. We accepted and opened this new account with confidence since we have, for years, good relationships with Discover Card and Discover Bank. We have with Discover bank : Regular CD- joint ownership by myself, XXXX XXXX and my husband XXXX XXXX ; and IRA Jumbo CD of XXXX XXXX . For new Discover Online saving account we transferred money from our regular bank, XXXX XXXX XXXX, with no trouble. At this time, we were able to access the new account. The trouble started when we startedtransfer some amount back to Peoples bank, on XX/XX/XXXX. One of customer service members mentioned that transfer of certain amounts could cause the problem, but NOexplanations on rules and limitations were given then and up to now. This transfer was completed, and transfer back to Discover was successful too on XX/XX/XXXX. Last time I could see the account, with Customer service long help, on XX/XX/XXXX, not on XX/XX/XXXX. I was told back in apx XX/XX/XXXX, that a special team is working on our problem and will call us. We never heared from them. Complaint: Over the past couple of month, I have made several purchases of various electronics and other health related items. Discover is/was offering a promotion where they stated that customers would receive a 10 % reward bonus for using their XXXX account when making the purchase with their Discover Card. I was just sent an email today informing me that I would not be receiving this 10 % reward bonus even though it was specifically stated in the terms that it would be awarded. I called their XXXX number and was told that they thought that I purchased gift cards because of the dollar amounts. I did not purchase any gift cards with this promotion. They still refused to award the points and said that I could send them receipts. This seems ridiculous considering that these purchases were from two months ago and some of them have some private information on them, including various medications that my family members are currently on.

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I left the USA to XXXX in the pursuit of a XXXX. By mid XXXX I was still jobless, so I was unable to keep up the payments from abroad. Therefore I pursued negotiations directly with Discover to find a hardship program or some payment system that would at least lower the payments. End of XXXX, we had reached a deal to work a payment plan that would lower the payment and keep the credit from faltering. Unfortunately, they denied everything that I had negotiated as if it did not happen and I was only bubbling the payments. They rudely cared little for me and did nothing to help, only demanding only payments. By the end of XXXX I tossed my hands in the air. I had to make a decision between food and the payments. Of course, I chose food. I swore to myself I would take care of this when I returned. After four fruitful years in XXXX and XXXX studying and working, I returned to the USA this past summer jobless once again. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter from XXXX XXXX ( debt collector and possible new owner of the debt that has not been verified ) requesting I accept the current situation or dispute it by XX/XX/XXXX ( 30 Days ). No response will mean I accept the amount of the debt. I will be sending a letter soon to dispute this wrongful situation. Complaint: Last year I set up an automatic ACH payment with a vendor ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) to be made to my bank ( Discover Bank ). I recently cancelled the service with the vendor. I requested that the vendor cancel the automatic withdrawals. I advised my bank NOT to honor any further ACH payment requests from this vendor. However, in spite of my written and verbal requests, the bank continues to honor these unauthorized ACH payment requests and continue to pay the vendor long after the service has been cancelled. I have repeatedly requested that the bank stop and they refuse to do so. I am not concerned about PAST payments - that money is gone, but I would appreciate if they would STOP payments in the future. This should not be that difficult to do.

Complaint: Discover Bank sent me an offer stating that if I opened up a savings account with them, depositing at least {$10000.00} by XXXX XXXX 2015, they would issue me a {$100.00} promotional credit within 4 weeks of opening the account. I opened the account, placed the promo code in the field, saw where it said I would receive {$100.00} and proceeded to deposit {$15000.00} into a savings account transferred directly from an external credit union. After 4 weeks, they only issued me a {$50.00} credit. I complained to Discover Bank but was told they needed 6-8 weeks to " investigate '' the issue. This seems like a well thought out scam - the bank gets my money and can loan it out or invest it at a higher rate than I am receiving, and they delay on giving me the full promotion to which I am entitled thereby making even more profit off of the offer they seem unwilling to honor.

Complaint: Yesterday I contacted my credit card company, Discover Card, to understand the calculation behind the interest charge on my XXXX statement? It is a simple question. I requested that they provide me a daily breakdown of how the balance subject to Interest Rate is determined. Yes I want Discover to be fully transparent in how they calculate that number. I also requested that they provide me a breakdown of the how annual percentage rate ( 11.99 % ) is applied to the balance subject to interest rate. They were kind enough to deny of my request however they did give me the verbiage in the credit card statement or agreement. Obviously that is not enough because it is not transparent. I am a visual person and need to physically see and verify what they say corresponds with the mathematical commentary.
