Complaint: I have been a Discover credit card member since 2005. Several years ago, I used the card to purchase home improvement material. The monthly payments were being made on time. However, after making payments for some time, Discover representative informed me that the low promotional interest rate would now change to higher interest rate. While I tried to explain this promotional rate should remain, they would not hear of it and raised my rate to around 9 %. After another year of making on time payments, Discovered called again and raised the interest rate a second time to around 16 %. I objected to raising the rate on purchases that were initially made on a low promotional rate offer. In addition, for no reason provided, Discover significantly reduced my limits on the card to the balance remaining further preventing me to purchase on the card. I continued to make on time payments, and once again Discover reduced the limit to balance remaining. This practice of reducing limits continued as the principal was paid down. I objected that if I am making on time payments at higher rates and never late, why the reduction in credit limit. The bank stated that this was their normal practice based on review of my credit card statement. Again, I had no choice but to continue to make monthly payments on a higher interest rate. Finally as recently as a year ago, the rate was once again raised to 21 % and the credit limit was once again reduced. I believe the bank is illegally changing terms in the middle of the contract and continuing to raise interest rate higher than those offered by competing banks. Also, Discover continues to reduce my credit card limit although payments are always made on time. This is not a fair bank practice and in my opinion illegal. A loyal customers like myself who has been with this bank since 2005 should not be taken advantage of and who has demonstrated good on time payment history. Because the bank unreasonably increased my rates several times and reduced my limit several times, these actions by Discover has placed undue hardship on me and my family, taken advantage of my financial situation, and in my opinion is an illegal practice.

Complaint: Last month I received a new credit card from discover card. They changed the product that I already owned as I was not using my existing card anymore. The new card looked better therefore I activated it. When I checked my account online it showed a negative rewards balance of {$120.00}. It did n't make sense for me to have a negative balance as I was not using the card much for over an year. When I inquired they did n't give me a an explanation and said they would check and get back to me. I never received a call therefore I called again to check. At that time they said it could be due to returns but since the returns over 2 years did n't even amount to {$500.00}, it was unlikely to get - {$120.00} balance. That theory was rejected and then they said they will get the issue to headquarters and some supervisor would call me in XXXX hrs. Never received a call again. I then sent a message and they replied that a supervisor had left a message on account that it could be due to a transaction that was not paid using discover card. Again it was a theory and they never mentioned the transaction in dispute. Also, how could they offer a reward and then reverse it when the card was n't even used. It did n't even make sense. I again asked for explanation and have n't heard back yet for a week now. I need to know why I have negative balance in rewards and if there is no decent explanation I want the negative balance to be reversed.

Complaint: In 2003 I got a divorce, at the same time my husband filed for bankruptcy. Shortly after I had a judgement on my credit report for a debt from Discover for my X husband 's credit card. I disputed for years finally it was off my credit. Recently the debt collector filed a writ of revival. I tried to hire a lawyer however the cost of lawyer was more than the debt. This is not my debt, I never gave them my social security number. At this point I do n't know what to do.

Complaint: I applied to Discover personal loans for an installment loan in order to consolidate multiple balances into one place. By any objective criteria, I would have been approved for the loan - DTI, credit score, etc. I provided all of my personal information to Discover ( which they had on file, since I have had a credit card with them for 2.5-3 years ). When I called back to Discover, they told me they denied me because I had no credit history. Due to their incorrect information, I was not able to get an appropriate loan. I have lost a significant amount of money paying interest charges, and if I apply now, I may not receive an interest rate that will assist me in making payments. I am unsure why Discover thought I had no credit history, but I have a long and strong credit history.

I did not receive a receipt for this wire transfer upon payment, and after calling and requesting a receipt, I was told it would take a few business days for them to mail me a receipt, which is in direct violation of terms set forth for a wire by cfbp. Complaint: I have had an automatic payment set up for the XXXX of every month since 2010. I have paid over the required payment every month. On the XXXX payment I changed the amount to the minimum payment due for financial reasons. Discover is telling me because I changed the amount of the payment it changed my due date the XXXX of the month. I was never notified of this change. I have always known that after the XXXX of the month all my bills are paid and what is left is mine to survive on for the month. Discover did not try to take the payment until the XXXX of the month. They continued to try on the XXXX and the XXXX. Since I get paid on the XXXX of the month there were no funds in the account. They caused XXXX overdraft charges plus a {$.00} foreign transaction fee costing me {$75.00}. They refuse to refund this amount to me due to their uncharacteristic change of due dates on my bill. I could not access my account due to my computer being down so did not realize this had happened until today.
