Complaint: I recently was selected to upgrade my Discover Secured Credit Card account to a Discover Unsecured account. This transaction occurred several months ago. I logged into my Discover credit account online to apply for a credit limit increase on XXXX, 2017. The website submitted my request and it went on for further review. The message stated, " Your request is under review. Decisions are typically made within 2 business days. There is nothing else that you need to do at this time. '' I was not contacted by Discover Bank and did not get any confirmation email that my request was under review.
I contacted Discover Card Customer Care within the 48-hour period and was told that there is an ongoing system issue that is preventing my requests for a credit increase to be reviewed by a credit analyst. No timeframe was given to reapply. I was told to keep resending the applications if I get " bored '' and to see if it gets fixed.
I also attempted to contact the online chat support, and I was informed that the credit analyst team did n't review my request for an increase and that I should call them. When I contacted them, they advised me the request had to be deleted.
I feel that Discover is unfairly preventing me from utilizing my account by not accepting requests to increase my credit limit. Other Discover Unsecured credit card customers are able to submit requests to increase their limit, and sometimes get instant decisions, however, " graduated '' customers are not due to a system issue because my account was upgraded. I feel as if Discover bank is discriminating against me because I had a secured card, and will not allow me to ask for a higher limit on the upgraded account. I feel as if " Graduated '' customers of their secured card are not fairly treated and that their lending practices are not fair as we can not request an increase in credit on our accounts. Our requests are queued and then deleted.

Complaint: I lost my job and had to stop paying my monthly payments in XX/XX/2016. I called Discover card today to try and settle my account. I spoke with XXXX from Discover card who after me opening up and explaining a very personal situation he began to judge me and basically school me like a child regarding my account. I felt very insulted at the way he was talking to me when I was the one who called them to try and settle the account. He began to assume the reason why I stopped payment and was not listening to the real reason why. I have been with Discover card for 16 years and have never stopped paying the account. I wanted to settle my account but he was trying to shame me as to why I hadnt paid.

Complaint: I recently received a copy of my XXXX credit report. The credit report showed a credit inquiry that I did not authorize. I have previously disputed this item and it was removed from my credit. I understand that you should n't be allowed to put an inquiry on my file unless I have authorized it. Please have this inquiry removed from my credit file because it is making it very difficult for me to acquire credit.
I have sent a letter certified mail because I need a prompt response to this issue. Please be so kind as to forward me documentation that you have had the unauthorized inquiry removed.
If you find that I am remiss, and you did have my authorization to inquire into my credit report, then please send me proof of this.

Complaint: I have a Discover card account, have had it for years, last XX/XX/2016 some fraudulent charges appeared on my account, i called discover told them i hadnt made the charges, they took all charges off, a month later i received mail saying that i was liable for charges that i did not do, i contacted them and they said for me to get a police report I sent them a police report and they still would n't take the charges off, they say a call came from my cell phone to verify charges, i have no such phone call on my phone records, I had XXXX email them a copy of my phone records that do n't show the said call and they still say I 'm liable, this is XXXX dollars they want me to pay them that i did n't do

Complaint: I opened a Discover Credit card to re-establish my credit and raise my credit score. Everything was fine at first, then Discover started " losing my payments '', blaming the other financial institutions for the " errors '', they then claimed I was at fault, dropped my credit limit, I made several attempts to pay balance in full that I doubted I even owed. However, they claimed that the XXXX times " the payments were returned by Discover ''. I do n't know why a payment made to a Credit Account would be returned, that makes no sense. Then Discover started claiming that I owed double the original amount. This is common among the complaints I have seen regarding their services. I even think that employees in their company have constructed a pretty good skimming scam here. No one could give me a straight answer as none of the people I have talked to can explain how my account has become so damaged. I also believe that someone may have stolen my identity, through this process. I need help and protection from these entities. My credit score was above XXXX when this started and now because of Discover 's misdeeds I am at XXXX. I really need your help to clear my credit and get this ridiculous debt amount cleared up. As this has caused XXXX of my accounts and pending the XXXX to be frozen, locked and or closed for their mistakes or wrong doings. My life and reputation has been black marked due to this and it was n't even my fault. I just want my credit fixed right away. Thank you for your time and help in any way. Complaint: Discover card filed an investigation I received a letter stating I was n't responsible for the charges on the account. Then come to note the lady gets rude and decides to keep my account closed and tells me I need to reapply for a new card. I paid whatever remaining balance was on the account and the account is a XXXX balance and they still wo n't reopen my account.

Received bad information about my loan
Complaint: My loan was sold from XXXX To discover student loans and improperly charged off. I was called in XX/XX/XXXX and told I must pay off all late payments or my loans would be charged off. I entered into a repayment program after I was informed that they had charged off to do whatever I could to repair my credit. I was informed by discover that they have no credit repair options, and that even though I was going to bepaying double the minimum payment two Months after it had originally charged off, it would have no positive effect on my account status or credit report. After I was unable to make the full payment, my loans were charged off and I was informed by a different employee at discover that I could have made a minimum payment to bring my account into a current status. I payed off the loan In XX/XX/XXXX and the loan is still showing as a charge off even though it is paid in full 3 months ago and it is preventing me from getting a mortgage and buying a home.

Complaint: I received communication from Discover Card that they had removed or discontinued some sort of consumer protection service from my account that I had no idea had been activated. When I researched the issue, they had been charging me for more than 50 months for something I knew nothing about. When I called to have them remove the charges from the card, they said they would only remove 6 months worth. I asked them to produce some form of documentation showing where I had signed up for the service and they could not. I would like those fees refunded.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2017 I received a letter from my credit card company ( Discover Card ) that they have reduced my credit limit from {$4600.00} to {$4300.00}. They have not provided my any explanation for the action. I have been current and have never missed on all my payments. This lowers my debt to credit ratio thus lowering my credit score. This, in turn keeps the interest very high for this card, thus extracting more money from me in the form of interest. This is a form of " loan sharking '' and is illegal.

Complaint: Discover Bank charged me {$30.00} to send an outgoing wire, only to reverse the transfer 8 days later, {$42.00} less and no good explanation.
On XX/XX/<YYYY>XXXX/2017, I initiated an outgoing wire in the amount of {$120000.00} from my Discover Bank account to a XXXX bank account. Discover bank deducted from my Savings account {$120000.00}, plus a {$30.00} transfer fee, and mailed me a confirmation, indicating that fund would be received on XX/XX/2017.
On XX/XX/2017, Discover Bank returned {$120000.00} " Reverse Outgoing Wire '' to my account. I got a missed call from them, but they did n't leave a message.
From XX/XX/2017 and XX/XX/2017, I have been in contact with Discover bank 's outgoing wire department through secure messages and phone calls. I learned that the reason for the returned wire was " no conversion instruction ''. I disputed that no such info was required, and it was clear on the wire instruction form that fund sent to an foreign account would be converted to local currency. I demanded an investigation and to receive a written response, and to be refunded the {$72.00} that I lost.
As of XX/XX/2017, I received no response. The " secure messages '' I sent and received on Discover bank 's website have disappeared as well.

Complaint: To Whom It May Concern, On XXXX of last year ( XXXX ), my wife have ordered a XXXX from XXXX using our Discover credit card. When the product was delivered to our home, we found that the merchant has sent us a product that is completely far from the item that we have paid for. We then called the merchant right away to notify them of this discrepancy but no resolution was put into place as the merchant refused to send us the right item or refund us back our money as they claim the circumstances to be impossible. Devastated on the outcomes of our conversations with the merchant, we then contacted our issuing bank, Discover Bank on XX/XX/XXXX to seek for help and initiate a dispute against a charge of {$3800.00} from XXXX. The dispute process took nearly 6 months as Discover bank kept siding with the merchant AFTER my wife and I have provided them with all of the documentations they asked. In that span of time, we had to contact them multiple times to re-open the case and have also provided them with more compelling evidence for them to even re-consider their decision after they would close their investigation in the merchants favor. Our chargeback dispute was denied three times even though the evidence and documentation we have given them are far more substantial than what the merchant, XXXX have provided them. Also, on XX/XX/XXXX, when we provided more evidence to re-open the case for a FINAL dispute, we were told and promised by the MANY discover bank representatives that we will be getting a final decision within 15 days from that day. Now, two months later after not hearing back from them, we received a notification that states that we are liable to pay for the full amount as they ( discover bank ), find the merchant to be correct. This ongoing unfair practice that Discover bank has been doing to us have caused us to close our account with them after being their loyal customer for 6 years. As of now, both my wife and I feel discriminated and violated of our consumer rights and all we want is justice that I believe we are entitled to.
Dealing with this corporate greed and new form of " evilness '' I did n't know existed made me do my own research online and I have found many others, just like my wife and I to be a victim of Discover banks unruly practices. Not only are they biased of their decisions ( they ALWAYS side with the merchant ) but they also do not practice their own rules and regulations. As when I researched their chargeback dispute guidelines, it clearly stated that, customers MUST obtain a decision within 15 calendar days during the final review. But clearly, that was not the case for us, as 2 months and 2 billing cycles passed and here we are getting hit by the money we have to pay back for the item we did not even get to see nor enjoy.
This is indeed very hard for us as we no longer know any other recourse to fight this chargeback anymore and we wish that no other honest consumers will have to go through this XXXX we are going through. If there is anything consumer advocates out there could do, it is to spend some time to review the unfair practices Discover bank is doing to their customers.
