Complaint: I borrowed {$27000.00}, have already paid {$18000.00} and still owe {$32000.00}. Much like so many of my peers, I am so overwhelmed with by the weight of my student loans. I have been paying more than the minimum payment, on time for over five years. I get extremely discouraged when I see I still owe {$5000.00} more than what I originally took out. Every three months, the interest rate rises. The interest rate is now up to over 12 %. Interest accrues daily, and my payback amount goes up every month. These rates are despicable and should be illegal.
As a teenager, going into college, the financial aid department and loan companies assure you, once you graduate you will be able to pay off these loans. I was ignorant to believe this. I did not know I would be paying back double what I borrowed. I think the schools and loan companies need to be more transparent and educate students on these terms.
At a time when young people should be planning their lives, many now are faced with inescapable lifelong student debt which sucks away most of their disposable income. Many in our generation wake up every morning and realize that we will never be able to afford a car, a home, health insurance, or even to start a family. The American Dream? Gone.

Complaint: I have Discover Credit card for years. They have a price protection plan. in simple terms - if you buy something online and that something is found to be of lesser value within 90 days - one can submit the claim and get the difference amount. I submitted one such claim Claim # XXXX My price protection claim was denied for really weird/unacceptable reason. The XXXX XXXX camera with lens that i bought it - it was found to be cheaper within few days. But still my claims was rejected.

Keep getting calls about your loan
Complaint: Applied for new loan XX/XX/XXXX with very new permanent address for borrower and cosigner. Had to send verification of address and identity. They rejected serveral documents that were on their list. Made a call to them on XX/XX/XXXX to resolve and felt like we were on the right track. Got another email saying action was still needed and called again Sunday XX/XX/XXXX. During that call I accepted my interest rate and accepted my loan. I was informed it was now up to the school for dispersion. Yesterday we received a call that action was needed. At this point we should n't need any action as you can not accept the loan unless all parts are there. Not the case. I had to upload another document and correct the address once again. If the address was different you think they would have mentioned or noticed. While every representative was polite and as helpful as they could be, I am very displeased with discover. It was a long and frustrating process that was unnecessary.

Complaint: XXXX/XXXX/2017 - I was notified by Discover Bank that my checking and savings accounts had been frozen for security reasons because I had added an external checking account for transfers. Verified my identity and had them unfrozen.
XXXX/XXXX/2017 - My mortgage payment in the amount of {$1200.00} was supposed to have been deducted from my account, however, only a partial payment of {$640.00} was deducted. I contacted the lender, XXXX XXXX, to find out what was wrong. XXXX told me that they received no payment at all because they were told the accounts had been frozen. The account specialist at XXXX conferenced Discover Bank in to assist as they had not initiated the ACH and had not received any funds. Discover Bank informed me that they did not know where the ACH had come from but that they could not give me the money back until they investigated the transaction and would get back with me in 7-10 days.

XXXX/XXXX/2017 - I sent a secure message to Discover Bank through my online account center stating the following : " There is a disputed ACH on my account that was supposed to be removed within 7-10 business days. It has now been nearly 3 weeks and I have heard nothing. This was Discover 's error as they had apparently frozen my accounts at the time because I dare to do the unthinkable and add a checking account to my external accounts, resulting in a declined mortgage payment. However, Discover screwed up and still processed the payment in partial, never giving the funds to XXXX but also never returning the funds to my account. XXXX was conferenced in and verified that the funds were never received as well. I need to know what the status of this request is and when the funds will be returned to my account. " XXXX/XXXX/2017 - Response received from Discover : " Dear -- -, Thank you for your message.

Complaint: I have had a Discover Card since XXXX and I will admit that I am not always the best at thoroughly reading through my statement. I was reviewing statements recently and saw that I am being charged for Discover Payment Protection on a monthly basis. This is a program that I never authorized my enrollment into. I have since checked all of the statements that Discover has for my account online ( they only have back to XX/XX/XXXX ). Totaling up all of the charges I was charged an overall amount of {$1100.00}. This is just the last 2 years. I called Discover on XX/XX/XXXX once I came up with this total and spoke to a representative named XXXX who told me that I started getting charged for this service about 3 months ( since 2010! ) after I opened the account. I questioned how it was that they enrolled me and she said that they had previously sent out letters asking for authorization to enroll their card holders. I informed her that while I got those letters I did not sign that I was authorizing my enrollment, so how is it that Discover enrolled me anyway. She then informed me that she would cancel my enrollment and reimburse me for the last 3 charges. I asked why I was not being reimbursed for the total amount that I was charged and the response that I got was that I would not be reimbursed the total amount because the letters they sent out were what enrolled me in the program, therefore I should have known that I was being charged. I again asked how a letter that I did not sign ( and at no point did they get verbal authorization from me either ) gave this company the authority to enroll me in this program. She was unable/unwilling to answer this question and was not able to direct me to anyone else within the company whom I might talk to about the issue.

Complaint: Seems that Discovery believes that because I live in Michigan they do not have to follow the XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX federal court orders! I was told by them if I did not pay their illegal charges and their Illegal transfers of funds from one of their cards to the other and back that they would take my home and put me in prison<
Also When I ask about why I was not paid accordant to the XX/XX/XXXX court order that I was not a card holder! BUT now that they are taking me to court for not paying what I do not owe them I am!

The payment was paid before the closing date of the statement. I had {$0.00} worth of purchases. On XXXX XXXX, 2017 they started charging me interest on my {$0.00} purchases and {$0.00} amount balance. I was not looking at that account online anymore because I closed the account. On XXXX XXXX, 2017 they sent me a past due letter saying that I owed them {$120.00}. On XXXX XXXX, 2017 my wife called and spoke with XXXX and she said that they would adjust the amount to {$0.00}. In the mean time Discover kept reporting me delinquent to the credit bureau, making my credit score drop dramatically. XXXX of Discover did nothing to make my balance {$0.00}. On XXXX XXXX, 2017 my wife called Discover again and spoke with XXXX to adjust the amount. Finally they credited my account to be {$0.00}. My wife also spoke with XXXX and she marked the account closed as of XXXX XXXX, 2017 but refused to back date any of the credit reporting. Because of this I can not get LP gas for my house or a vehicle loan.

Complaint: Discover Card and a few other collectors keep calling my cell phone and my mother 's cell phone for my brother 's debt. I told them this is not his phone number, I do n't owe you the debt and to take me off the call list. They say ok and then they still call / harass, almost every single day.
