Complaint: I applied for a Discover card on XX/XX/2017. During the application process I was told to upload a copy of my driver license and SS card, which I did on their online portal. Then, a Discover representative called me to verify information. The application was declined. When I called into the reconsideration department I was told that they were unable to verify information I provided and the application was declined and the decision was final. If I wanted further consideration, I would need to reapply, resulting in another inquiry.
I now have an inquiry on my credit report from Discover Card which they say they will not remove. This adversely affects my creditworthiness.
They did not properly process my request for credit. I have a XXXX FICO score, so it is unusual that I would be declined with that score.

Complaint: Discover Student Loan Complaint Background XX/XX/XXXX Primary Student Borrower : XXXX XXXX Cosigners : XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX Total Amount Owed : XXXX My name is XXXX XXXX, and both my step-father, XXXX XXXX, and my mother, XXXX XXXX are cosigners on my Discover Student Loans. All of our credits have been ruined by Discover Student Loans, although we have been trying to work with Discover since I graduated from college in XX/XX/XXXX to get more reasonable payments based on my income ( please see additional attached documents ). After ignoring our pleas and ruining our credits, Discover decided to put me on a Hardship Program, after I lost my job. This went into effect in XX/XX/XXXX.
My mother called Discover Student Loans at XXXX at XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke with XXXX . She requested that our credit reports be corrected since we have been trying to work with Discover Student Loans for years to come up with a solution. XXXX told her that Discover will not do this, so she sent an email requesting that the phone call recording be escalated to senior leadership at Discover. She received a call from XXXX XXXX at Discover on XX/XX/XXXX and was informed that the issue is being escalated to Discover Executive Leadership. My mother received another call from XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX stating that Discover Executive Leadership will not correct the credit reports and will not look at the loan until after the 1 year hardship program has ended.
We have been trying for years to work with Discover to reconcile reasonable payments. We sent emails to Discover Leadership as far back as XX/XX/XXXXto demonstrate Discover Student Loans role in the following : Using unethical tactics to assign high interest rates to students with high credit score cosigners.
Using the high interest rates to create payments that students can not afford coming out of college.
Attacking cosigners before working with the direct borrower to get payments.
Making undocumented suggestions that students not pay to demonstrate hardship in an effort to go after cosigner assets.
Using XXXX-type tactics ( high interest, bullying, ruining credits, and lies ) to get from borrowers what they should never have owed.
Discover Student Loan tactics role in decreasing the amount of students entering college in the US and therefore leading to the demise of our nation relative to other nations.
Discover Student Loan tactics role in increasing crime as students get desperate because of the bullying and threats and knowledge of the fact that bad credit ruins futures ( ability to get that next best job, ability to buy a house or anything else that requires good credit, etc. ). This threat is real to these students and the resulting desperate behavior would probably surprise us all.
I am filing this complaint in hopes of driving a large investigation into this behavior and thereby driving change.
I dont know how Discover Leadership sleeps at night. They are a lending institution but it doesnt mean that they have to play this big of a role in ruining America. What they are doing is everything that is wrong with America today.

Over a week ago I called Discover credit card customer service to request credit refund via ACH Transfer to my external bank account. However, it has been more than a week but I have NOT received the refund in my external bank account yet. I call Discover customer service for quite a few times, but never got resolved in this issue yet.

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: I got a letter in the mail from Discover student loan, saying they sent me a check that was never cashed. It mentioned I must cash byXX/XX/XXXX or call to get it reissued. However I did not get this letter until after XX/XX/XXXX. I called their toll free number that was stated in the letter but they said they had no information regarding this check, when it was sent, the amount, etc and I must contact the XXXX to get this resolved.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I received an email notification that my statement was available online. I was shocked to discover that I had exceeded my credit limit by approximate {$600.00}.
On XX/XX/XXXX I reviewed my statement online and contacted Discover. To put this as succinctly as possible, there were a total of 17 transactions authorized beyond the credit limit.
The first transaction exceeding the credit limit was on XX/XX/XXXX. Subsequently, an additional 16 transactions were authorized, including the final transaction pending on XX/XX/XXXX, the day I called in.
Discover agreed not to charge an over limit fee, and also agreed they would not be charging an over limit fee in subsequent statements, under full knowledge that, if I only paid the minimum amount due, I would still be exceeding my credit limit by {$350.00} at the time of the discussion on XX/XX/XXXX.
While it may be nice from a consumer standpoint, to not have been charged an over limit fee for a transaction that exceeds the credit limit, I find it incredibly excessive, and possibly abusive, that the company would continue to allow an addition 16 transactions to be authorized over the course of the next 3 weeks, resulting in a balance approximately {$600.00} above the credit limit.
While I appreciate the company agreeing not to charge any over limit fee, I am concerned they may raise my interest rate, and perhaps more importantly, they have put me in a position of debt that I never had to be in.
I feel that some type of penalty should be incurred for Discover 's practice in this matter. I fear that I may not be the only consumer dealing with this scenario, and I am filing this complaint to be proactive and make sure this practice does not continue.

Complaint: Summary - All my credit cards went to Past Due/ Charge Off/Closed/ Collection statuses for no fault of mine.I never had any derogatory marks on my credit score/history in the past but, unfortunately in the past couple months everything changed and started receiving collection notices.
One of the company named " XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX '' approved me a special purpose loan and promised in the agreement that they will take care of all the credit card debt I owe to the banks.As per the agreement each month I have to pay " XXXX XXXX '' a low fixed interest rate for all the debt I owe to creditors ( The payment includes the total Credit Debt $ + Lower interest rate ).
I was asked NOT TO PAY a single Penny to credit card companies from the day I signed the agreement with XXXX XXXX XXXX as they are taking ownership of the debt.
Once I signed the agreement I started paying 600 $ + to this company every month from XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. I did make the payments to this company for almost a year but, it never paid a single penny to the creditors. I did follow up with the company asking the status and I was always told that the debt validation is in progress and takes some time. Recently, the company was sued for fraudulent claims and promises and all the website info, contacts no longer exists. I have no clue whom to contact and how to get this resolved.

I received a letter from discover card saying Im pre-approved for a personal loan for {$28000.00}. Next day I called Discover Card and they asked me what the money is for I advised them I was trying to pay off my other high interest credit cards and just have 1 payment every month. They asked me how much I owe I said {$25000.00} then they asked how much I make and I told them {$50000.00} and they said anyone in the house hold I said yes my husband and they asked how much does he make I said {$120000.00} they said I am approved. Then they asked me to send them pay stubs I did. My husband pay stub was showing {$93000.00} but then I called them and said no his XXXX shows {$100000.00} because he gets bonus every year and its {$100000.00} they asked me to send his XXXX so I did, I got a phone call 2 days after that they said sorry you dont qualified. My issue is I didnt want and hard pull on my credit and the agent insured me that its not a hard pull until the loan is approved so here I am with no loan to pay off my other credit card and I have an extra inquiry on my credit report. I asked them to give me a smaller loan they said they are sorry and they cant help me.

Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: A Discover Card solicitor called me around the beginning of XX/XX/XXXX in order to transfer two of my credit card balances to their card for a onetime fee and a 0 % interest rate for the life of the card which I agreed to. Upon receiving my first billing statement I discovered that my monthly payment was to be 2 % of the unpaid principle balance which was more than what i was currently paying for the other two credit cards. I would have never agreed to those terms if i was informed of them initially, which i was not. I immediately called and spoke to a Discover rep who stated that she would pull and listen to the original conversation then get back to me. I never received a follow up call. Upon calling them back I was then informed that they only keep the calls for 30 days and they no longer have my call on file. I requested that i speak to the rep who originally took my call when at that time they further explained to me that they do not keep records of who customers speak to when they call in. I had to reiterate my concerns and frustrations once again which they ultimately told me that the terms are what they are and I basically have to agree to them and start making payments which I refused due to the gross information that was initially conveyed to me. I truly feel like i was told half the story with no initial payment details being disclosed and Discover Card is turning a blind eye with ZERO personal accountability. I hope and pray that your institution will be able to aide me in remedying this matter. Your time and efforts are beyond appreciated.

Complaint: Seems that Discover Bank has set up quite a few accounts using my name, SS number, birth date, home phone and/or home address to laundry money again!
I have been getting calls from XXXX XXXX, and other Credit companies demanding payment for money transferred to XXXX accounts that I do not have but are in my name, SS number, birth date, home phone and/or home address!
Discover has been taken to federal courts for setting up fake accounts, money laundering and other illegal actives. Now it seems that they are preying on us seniors and Veterans!!!
And I am still getting phone calls from them telling me that I am going to prison if I do not agree whit what they demand in court!!!
I think I have to report this to the DOJ and Home land Security for possible money laundering! I could be in trouble if I do not?

Complaint: Discover enrolled me in a Payment Protection Program back when I first signed up for the card. Since then it appears to have been on my statement as a small fee that would has gone unnoticed for the full length of my membership with them. Upon calling Discover all anyone can say is that I gave permission for them to charge me over the phone without any additional information, recordings, or names. They then continue to state again all that they attempt to do keep members aware that they are being charged these fees with no statements as to how I was specifically enrolled originally or what they are doing to address such concerns in the future.

Complaint: discover card wo n't dissolve new card account. I closed account and received new card and did not authorize it and it is getting used by someone. 'I did not want it used. I ca n't make them understand to not use this account.
I 'm also having problems with my other c/cards. My fraud people will go and change my passwords or pretend to be me and authorize my changes when I want to place a hold or try to cancel.
There has to be a better system in place to keep my accounts safe when someone finds your ss #. I need help.

However i was not paying much attention to the card, i found after a month saying that they have been trying to deliver my card to an address which i never gave them not changed my self on the account. When contacted the customer care. They simply do not have any clue on how that new address even came up on the account. So scared my details have been compromised. Complaint: I received an e-mail ( attached XXXX from XXXX XXXX indicating that I had placed an order for {$2500.00} for a camera to be shipped to XXXX XXXX in XXXX. I placed no such order and do n't know who XXXX XXXX is. There was no account number on either the e-mail or the receipt, just that it was paid by a credit/debit card. Complaint: In early XXXX I found out that a fraudulent account for Discover card had been opened under my personal information. I tried working it out with the bank but they did not believe that my account was fraudulent. Discover claimed that I had transferred my credit to XXXX XXXX XXXX, something that had never happened ( even fraudulently ) because when I talked to severa XXXX XXXX XXXX representatives there are no existing account under my information. I appealed to the credit bureaus : XXXX and XXXX who had told me that they will open a dispute with Discover. I received confirmation in late XXXX from XXXX and XXXX stating that the case has been successfully resolved ; Discover had removed me from their end ; it was also removed from my credit report and I received a new credit report stating that my Discover card is now closed. Complaint: I was upset once I reviewed my XXXX XXXX and XXXX credit reports and found that I was reported as having a late payment on the date below : 30 days past due XXXX2016 I already disputed this with the credit bureaus and they verified it as being accurate. I am not sure how this happened, I believe that I had made my payments to you on time when I received my statements.
