Other problem
Complaint: I opened a secured credit card with Discover Card 2 years ago with a {$2500.00} security deposit. When I was signing up, Discover Card staff explicitly promised me to return my security deposit after a 7 month good monthly payment history. After 7 months, I contacted Discover Card and was informed that though I had a good payment history their 'system ' blindly determines when I get my security deposit refunded. This was news to me ... if I knew this I would not have chosen Discover Card because I needed the security deposit paid within the 7 month agreement. I have since called Discover Card on the 9, 12 and 16 month points. Discover Card simply will not return my security deposit payment.
Its now been 2 years, I have an excellent payment history with Discover Card, kept my purchase balance low and my credit score has even risen over the last 2 years. I want Discover Card to reimburse my secuity deposit as advertised and promised to me when I invested in a secured Discover Card.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Discover Student Loans charged off my student loan in XXXX of XXXX. Due to a chapter XXXX bankruptcy, they were unable to collect on the account.Upon dismissal of my bankruptcy case, Discover harrassed myself and family members several times per day to collect on the account.
I sent in payment in full on XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$6100.00}. Discover cashed the check on XX/XX/XXXX but failed to apply the payment to my account and claims they have no knowledge of the payment.
In response, I submitted the copy of the check to Discover as proof of payment. Discover continues to fail to acknowledge proof of payment and the balance remains outstanding and a negative mark on my credit report.

Complaint: I do NOT have a signed contract nor any contract with Discover. I have never done business with this company. They failed to provide me with a signed contract that validates them to collect this debt. I am not liable for these collections. I should not be responsible for a debt that I did not do. I am a victim of identity theft and I had to submit a police report and FTC aftidavits the credit bureau for proof that my identity was stolen and these companies are still is saying that I owe them. My next steps will be to get an attorney and sue because they are calling me after a do not call letter had been sent. They are destroying my credit with these false accusation of these accounts. I sent them a letter requesting proof any contracts, signatures, a copy of my id anythings that shows I opened these accounts and all they sent me was a bill which only shows me that someone went shopping.

Problem with the interest rate
Complaint: I contacted Discover student loans for a student loan for my daughter which I was going to co-sign. They asked how much I make, but also asked how much was in my savings and retirement accounts.
I 'm a XXXX so I only make approximately {$15000.00} a year but my FICO score is XXXX ( which I would say is better than most ).
The form also proceeded to ask what my savings account had as well as my retirement account. I told them {$20000.00} in savings/money market and {$300000.00} in retirement.
Well, it came back with a 8.990 % loan figure which is ridiculous.
I proceeded to contact the bank at which time they basically told me that the only things they look at are the income and the FICO score. So I asked the girl that was helping me why they asked the questions about how much money I have and she did not know. She even put me on hold for a few minutes and came back and still did not have an answer.
At that point, I asked why do they even ask the questions about how much money we have in our accounts if you are not even going to consider them, and she did not have an answer for that. I then told her that the bank needs to take those questions off their form if they are not going to use them as a basis for the loan. She really had no comment except she said she would pass the suggestion on.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: My lender, Discover, issues an email message to me monthly to notify me that my current statement is available to view. However, Discover did not notify me in XXXX regarding my statement for the payment due on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. In addition, Discover has not notified me or even created a statement for me for the payment that is supposed to be due on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I typically make my monthly payment the date I receive notification that a statement is available, so I have incurred additional interest as a result of Discover 's recent procedures. In addition, from my understanding, these are Regulation Z violations. I called Discover and spoke with a customer service representative, but I have not received any assistance regarding this matter. My account number is XXXX.

Company closed your account
Complaint: I opened a Discover Bank Checking and Savings account on XX/XX/XXXX. I transferred {$5.00} from my XXXX checking account for the initial opening of both accounts, which was received and accepted on XX/XX/XXXX, I had also scheduled for {$50.00} to be sent to the new account on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I received an email that both accounts have been suspended and to call immediately, which I did. Upon calling them, I was told the accounts were n't suspended, but actually closed and the initial {$5.00} would be sent back to the issuing bank and the {$50.00} that was in the process of being transferred would be rejected and sent back to the issuing bank, as well. It is now XX/XX/XXXX and none of the money has been sent back. I called them today to find out why the money had not been returned to my issuing bank. I was told a variety of stories : 1. The issuing bank had to send a letter of indemnity to Discover in order to return the funds. When I asked why, I was told it was policy. I explained I had been told in the last phone exchange that the money would not even be accepted, so I should n't have to jump through this hoop. I asked for a supervisor.
2. XXXX, the supervisor, continued to say that it was policy to get the letter of indemnification. I asked for the policy that dictates this. She led me to the National Deposit Account Agreement online, wherein it states that " We can close your Account at any time for any reason, including if the balance in your Account is zero. If we close your Account, funds on deposit will be disbursed to the Accountholder ( s ). '' I asked XXXX where it says anything about a letter of indemnification. She said it 's policy to require it. I told her she was a liar and wasted my time. I explained I could understand if they had policies in place to guarantee that I was me if I wanted them to send me a check, but I only wanted the money returned to the account from whence it came. I was n't asking them to return it directly to me, so they would have no loss and would therefore, not need a letter of indemnity 3. On a subsequent phone call ( we were disconnected ) to XXXX, she stated that when their " investigation '' was done and the letter received, they could release funds. I said, " What investigation? '' She said I was being investigated for fraud and that was why they needed the letter. She refused to tell me what prompted this investigation. I told her this sounded like a ruse to avoid releasing funds since it has not been mentioned in ANY other correspondence or communication. It was unlikely that I was committing fraud for {$50.00}!
I believe Discover holds funds they are not entitled to in order to increase the interest they can get off those funds and the more hoops customers have to jump through, the better. They have told numerous lies throughout this process and they should be held accountable for this.

Problem with customer service
Complaint: My online/web account with Discover Student Loans has been limited for several months now - apparently due to problems they are having with an upgrade ( or so they tell me ). Every time I log on to the online system I am greeted with these error message : " Access to your account is limited at this time. Please call customer service at XXXX for further assistance. '' " Due to system maintenance your Account Center payment history may be incomplete. We are currently working to resolve this issue. We anticipate the issue will be resolved in a few days. In the meantime, for complete payment history, please see your monthly statement ( s ). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. '' These website issues prevent me from paying my monthly loan payments online, downloading copies of my monthly statements, and seeing other pertinent and important information related to my loan.
I have tried to contact Discover Student Loans numerous times via phone, chat, and their online messaging system and keep getting useless responses - from they are working on it, to generic form responses that do n't even apply, to some of the representatives I spoke with not even being aware of the issues. I have sent numerous emails to senior managers/executives and they have not responded. I have requested that they suspend my monthly payments ( and interest accumulation XXXX until they can get their act together and fix this, but they have not done so. I have been forced to waste time making payments via phone calls and do not feel comfortable continuing to do so.
