Complaint: Discover card states that they have a claim against me, which indicates that they think I broke the law. They are threatening to turn this over to an attorney to obtain a judgment against me if I do not pay them.
I feel as though this is a violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
Lots of threats contained in this letter attached.

Problem with fees
Complaint: Discover Card has been charging me a fee labelled as " Discover Payment Protection Fee '' that I Never Authorized. I can only review the past two years of statements online, but I suspect it goes back much further because I have never been able to get the balance down.
In XX/XX/XXXX the Fee was at {$34.00}. It has gradually increased. As of XX/XX/XXXX it was in the amount of {$89.00}. The full amount charged between these two dates comes to {$1300.00}. I do not know how much was accrued before then.
I have brought this to their attention. They sent complicated instructions on how to change my account settings, but I was unable to do so. But, even if I was able to removed the future charges, it still did not offer a solution for all the money lost.

Complaint: About three weeks ago I opened a new Discover XXXX XXXX account with an online promotional offer. According to this offer, after I deposit XXXX balance, I should receive XXXX bonus credit in my XXXX savings account. Then I deposited XXXX to my XXXX savings account over two weeks ago. However, so far I have NOT received the XXXX bonus in my account yet.
I have a friend who opened the Discover XXXX savings account around the same time as me but he has already received his XXXX bonus. But I have NOT received any bonus yet.
I request Discover Bank to post the {XXXX to my Discover XXXX savings account immediately without any further delay.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: I previously submitted a complaint involving Discover Card.
They are reporting on all 3 credit reporting agencies that I have a balance of {$6000.00}.
At one time they were reporting that the balance was {$330000.00}.
I received a letter from the attorney 's involved in the matter and they are saying that the amount that is due is {$3400.00}. I have contacted the attorneys concerning the matter. I have offered to pay only with the guarantee from them that this account be deleted from my credit report. Dispite several letters, I have had no response.
Please see attached file which is the letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX. It clearly states that the balance due is {$3400.00} ... .not {$6000.00} as reported on the credit reports.

Complaint: I filed a complaint against Discover Credit Card after someone abused a POA and opened a credit card in my name. I submitted the notarized documents ( attached ) proving this was not an account I opened myself. XXXX and XXXX both stated they would not reinvestigate this matter, saying I needed to send them the very documents I have sent over on more than 3 times. I am starting to believe that they unlike XXXX are unwilling to accept the military investigation results and the notarized documents obtained during that investigation. I did not open this account and am still being held liable for it.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I used Discover Card to pay the merchant ( a law firm, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX ) {$300.00} for legal service, but he didnt show up in the court to represent me ; on XX/XX/XXXX, I called Discover Card and they opened a dispute for the dissatisfaction with credit card purchase and I closed the dispute on XX/XX/XXXX.
However, on XX/XX/XXXX, the merchant discontinued his service to me because he didnt get the money from Discover Card ; and since the merchant didnt get the money from Discover Card and discontinued his service to me, Discover Card should credit back the money to my account, but Discover Card didnt ; obviously, this is a billing error.
Therefore, begun from XX/XX/XXXX, I exercised my billing rights to dispute the billing error, and asked them to correct it. However, while I kept sending them the inquiry to dispute the billing error by discover.com/billingerrornotice, Discover Card kept acting like they never got my inquiry to dispute the billing error and pretended that I just wanted to continue the dissatisfaction with credit card purchase, which has no longer existed and been relevant since the merchant didnt get the money from Discover Card and he didnt need to deliver the service to me ; and refused to do anything about it.
So far, Discover Card did not open the dispute for the billing error as I requested begun from XX/XX/XXXX, did not explain why not either ; did not answer my questions - why the merchant didnt get the money from them, whether they gave the money to the merchant or not, what had gone wrong to cause this, where the money is now, why they couldnt get the money back and credit it to my account, and why I should pay them for the money they lost.
Obviously, Discover Card has a problem ; either lost the money somewhere else, or gave it to the merchant but couldnt prove it ; but either way Discover Card can not make me pay for their problem and have to credit the money back to my account.

Complaint: I opened a Discover Secured card back in XXXX of XXXX. It 's now XXXX of XXXX. They advertise that their secured card will become able to unsecure after 7 months, and tell you the same thing over the phone, however in the 16 months I 've had the card, the past 9 I 've been waiting for the card to unsecure. Keep in mind, the only time I made a late payment ( less than 30 days ) was in XX/XX/XXXX - When I lost my car and almost everything I owned in Hurricane XXXX. When I called the company they told me that there was nothing that they could do, no tips they could give, and that the only option I had was to cancel the account - Which would take almost three months to do.
The reason I signed up for the card was because I was under the impression that it would eventually unsecure. Now I 'm stuck with a tiny, low-balance credit card that refuses to unsecure, and closing the account would probably tank my credit, as it 's one of my oldest cards. This is absolutely unacceptable ; Discover is basically holding my credit hostage after lying to me about the benefits of their card, and there 's nothing they will do to help, nor is there anything I can do.
Do NOT get a secured card from Discover. They do n't give a XXXX about you, and will lie, lie, lie to get you on the hook.

This harassment has been going on for weeks, with multiple calls being made to my home daily at all hours of the day and night. I have repeatedly asked them to stop, but they refuse. Each time I am told that my number will be removed from what ever account they are trying to collect on, but again, they are not doing it. This needs to stop.
