Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: Hello CFPB, My name is XXXX XXXX. On XXXX XXXX I went to XXXX -- all products -- credit cards -- See if youre pre-approved before you apply.

XXXX : XXXX? XXXX I was approved XXXX times with the following text : Congrats XXXX XXXX, you XXXX XXXX for these cards : XXXX XXXX Card and XXXX XXXX XXXX. I decided to go for XXXX XXXX which was 14 month XXXX apr. After I was done with my application I received the following text : " Call pre-approve now.You are almost done. Thank you for your application. We just need a few more minutes of your time. We can help you complete your application quickly. XXXX support is available ''.
I called and they were super nice. I thought it was the proper way for verification not to go through a new applications. A representative today told me the pre-approval system was down on Thursday-weekend and told me to reapply using the pre-approval again and for the next XXXX times was the same text. A they keep telling me XXXX hours stating that Th Pre-Approval system has been down and they dont even see my completed application last rep I spoke with told me he will forward it to the supervisor and to wait XXXX more hours. after many days and several hard inquires i found that I was denied because a change in my credit report. Nothing changed in my repot, all my credit cards are reported that paid to " XXXX ''.
I am asking CFPB that the inquires to be removed from my credit report given that it was done under the false pretense that I was " pre-approved ''. I would not, under any circumstances, have applied for this card had it not used text that led me to believe I was already approved. My request is that XXXX to remove any hard inquires that did on my credit reports between XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.
I will NOT accept the hard inquiry being on my report when they gave me false hope that I would not be denied.

Charged too much interest
Complaint: I have an account with Discover. Recently I transferred three different accounts to my Discover account for no/lower interest rates. Because of this I have 4 separate interest rates ; 0 %, 4.99 %, 4.99 %, and 19.99 %. When I make a payment, the minimum payment goes to lowest interest rate and whatever I pay over the minimum goes to the highest interest rate. My problem is this ; the two accounts at 4.99 % are charging interest that I pay monthly along with the interest charge on the 19.99 %. Even though I am paying the interest charge on the 4.99 % accounts, Discover is adding the interest to my overall amount owed in the 4.99 % accounts. So my 4.99 % accounts are increasing every month. So essentially they are double charging me for the interest. I am paying it but they are adding it on my bill. My monthly statements can verify the charges.

Sent card you never applied for
Complaint: I had noticed 2 hard inquires from XXXX XXXX on my credit reports and that a Discover credit card had been opened in my name with Discover during XXXX 2016, the exact time frame that the 2 hard inquiries were put on my account.
I have written to discover numerous times explaining that I did not apply for any credit with them ever and I did not authorize that card. I immediately closed it out and disputed the inquiries and the credit card on my report but the bureaus nor discover care to resolve this with me.
I have reached a point of where I wanted to bring this to your attention before I proceed with legal action to have it removed from my report.
I do n't want a discover card, never have, never will, and never applied for one.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Discover Student Loans recently changed its software program. As a result, the company did not migrate auto-pay and banking information for its customers to the new system. I did not receive notice of this until I logged on to my account on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX and saw that the payments for XXXX and XXXX XXXX had not been processed. I called the company that evening and they advised me of the software change.
This loan entered repayment in XXXX XXXX when I graduated law school. I have made nearly eight years of timely payments. When their software deleted my auto-pay details, XXXX took away my on-time payment rate reduction XXXX 0.5 % ) and my auto-pay rate reduction XXXX 0.25 % ), which raised my interest rate from 3.5 % to 4.25 %. The representative could not guarantee that I would be allowed to have these reductions back, despite my years of on-time payments.
I can only imagine that XXXX did n't undertake the likely simple process of migrating auto-pay information from its old system to its new to be able to take advantage of higher interest rates, late fees, and penalties from its customers. Fortunately, I noticed the missed payments before being assessed any late fees or penalties, but I 'm certain many others will not notice in time. The company told me they begin assessing fees and penalties after an account is 60 days delinquent.
I would like my rate reductions restored, as I believe the company engaged in this practice with the intent of raising rates and assessing penalties and late fees.

Complaint: On XXXX/XXXX/XXXX my payment of of {$290.00} was received by XXXX XXXX XXXX, who was assisting me in debt consolidation and was paying my credit card bills as a third party. Of that amount, {$8.00} should have been disbursed to Discover Card XXXX on or before XXXX/XXXX/XXXX but was not. The payment of {$8.00} was finally made to Discover Card XXXX on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. This now shows up as derogatory information on my credit report for being a month late.

Complaint: I have inquiries on my credit files with XXXX and XXXX from this company dated XX/XX/XXXX. I did not apply for credit from them on this date. I have an inquiry from XX/XX/XXXX, that is a legitimate inquiry. I have asked the credit reporting agencies to remove these inquiries, but they do n't have to follow the law, so that was a waste of time. I have written to the company directly requesting documentation supporting their permissible purpose in accessing my files, but all I got I reply was verification that they did, in fact, access my files ... no proof of permissible purpose. Accordingly, pursuant to the FCRA, these inquiries should be removed.

Complaint: With the greatest respect to the government agency that ensures the protection of rights of consumers. I am the XXXX student and have applied three XXXX, XXXX XXXX and Discover entities for the student loan because the search engine gave me the option of private loans without COSIGNER as soon as I have applied my credit score downgraded and I had an issue with renewing and renting new apartment. Their decision, all three was to provide COSIGNER with high credit score and applicable income which by itself makes it impossible because COSIGNER which signs contract also loses Credit Score. I have already finished most of course load and if I knew that my credit score was to downgrade just for applying and I wont be able to receive impossible term student loan I would have even applied. My complaint based on if you get rejected why should you score downgraded, why three companies aggresively advertise private loan without cosigner in the search engines such as XXXX, and the most important why would person cosign if he already knows that his score is going to downgrade because later the financial institutions will increase the cost of borrowing and all other consumer purchases would be expensive for him or her. Right now I have issue with renting apartment because of that and I have family and kids. I have the lifelong experience and education never consign and never apply that makes me not wanting to access finance thus leading to financial XXXX so it happens to be the services for the status selected which credit bureaus assume from family history and other criterias. My complaint is not take action but for improving the system set by private businesses. Thank you.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: Credit Card : XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX Account XXXX.
A cosmetics company charged my credit card when I specifically told them not to. I disputed the charges, totaling roughly {$400.00} to Discover Bank. They gave me a temporary credit and notified the merchant. 1 month later, the merchant ressonded with " screen shots '' of their website ( nothing more ) and XXXX reversed the charges. The merchant provide no evidence that I gave permission to charge my card, nothing with my signature.
On appeal, i sent XXXX evidence that this merchant was a scam and has scammed other people. They ignored me saying that " THEY ALREADY KNEW THAT ''. Really ... already knew that? Then why are n't you canceling these charges I said. They have not responded since.
I was on the phone at the beginning with this merchant and warned them DO NOT CHARGE MY CARD. They did it anyway after they tricked me.

Complaint: I initially contacted the company in regards to a charge on the account that was not honored at the location. They responded with a company generated mail stating that the charge was valid because it was made through my account. Responding to that, I stated it was in fact made by my account, however it was not honored at the location. I was told that the tickets were already used. I told him it was not possible because I just arrived. The clerk stated that I can dispute it but i would have to purchase another ticket to get in. I went to purchase another set of tickets with my spouse 's card and was told by that clerk as well to dispute the charge when i get home.
I showed documentation that I had paid for the tickets via other to the card company, but I was responded to with the same merchant documentation that it was non refundable and that the tickets was emailed to my account. I responded again telling them that I 'm not disputing that I did n't make the purchase, I 'm disputing that I was not allowed in with the tickets that were provided. They responded with " we are sorry your dispute did n't yield the resolution you desired '' and closed the case.
I do n't believe anyone actually looked into the case, because if they did, they can see that the documentation that the merchant provided was computer generated. Further Discover themselves generated their own non human response and called it a day.
My only thought is that I made the purchase on a public computer at my hotel. I also printed the tickets there as well where I initially had problems printing.Neither I or the hotel can be sure that this was the reason to this, but the park also did not request ID upon entrance. So basically if anyone had access to that wrong printout, they were able to enter the park in place of me, leading to my ticket, if i went after them, to be invalid.
Please help with this situation, this is a substantial amount and is not something that can just be paid off by me and just move forward, especially when i had to pay twice for it.

Complaint: This allegation of having a charge off on my credit report IS DEFICIENT of CERTIFICATED PHYSICAL PROOF of being adequately and fully COMPLIANT to all mandates and laws as related to my state, the FCRA and METRO 2 data formatted reporting standards.
Also, how can they report different information to all three credit bureaus? The high credit, credit limit, date last reported, date last active and date of late payment are all different.

Complaint: Since XXXX 2017, my Discover It Chrome Card has not been showing up on my XXXX XXXX XXXX it showed up from XXXX to XXXX but that was it then the card had dropped of the report and my credit score went down roughly XXXX points. Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: I called Discover card customer service about an old credit card debt from about 10 years ago. They referred me to XXXX XXXX XXXX and provided the phone number. I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX and requested written information on the debt, including payoff. They requested that I fax a signed statement that I was not being represented by an attorney before they would speak to me. I complied. I called again and requested the written information about my debt. They said they would have it to me by the end of the week. They did not. I called again XXXX, they said they would have it to me by XXXX. They did not. I called again and was told they would have it to me by XXXX. They did not. I called again the following XXXX and could never get a person on the line. I called again XXXX and could not get a person on the line. I called Discover card. The Discover Card representative attempted to contact XXXX XXXX XXXX as well, and was unable to reach anyone after a very long hold. So, ultimately, after more than 2 weeks and a multitude of phone calls and requests, I still have no written statement of my debt. In the meantime, there is a lien on my home, and interest continues to build daily ( as I was informed ).
