Complaint: Because my husband passed away onXX/XX/XXXX and because we had made an over-payment on our Discover account, I spoke with Discover mid-XX/XX/XXXX advising them to cancel account and to send a check for the credit amount of {$430.00}. I have called numerous times and they are in agreement that they owe me the {$430.00} amount, but still as ofXX/XX/XXXX have sent no check. They obviously are holding on to MY MONEY as long as possible. Since they would have charged me interest, if I had owed them the money. They should rightly pay me 3 months interest on their late payment of my money that they are holding. Every phone call to Discover ends in them telling me that they will send the money, but I have yet to get a check.

Complaint: I found wrong negative information from Discover on my credit report as I have been late on a payment for more than 60 days, when I contacted them I found out this card does not belong to me, it belong to My husband which he never received a statement from them and he paid them when they contacted him and when he learned about what mess they caused me he paid off the balance and closed the account. when I contacted them asking them to remove the wrong information from under my name as I do not own this card and these charges do not belong to me they refused stating I am an authorized user on the account I explained I am an authorized user on the account to manage the account and I am not responsible financially on charges do not belong to me, they confirmed i am not responsible financially but under the law they have to report this information under my name I asked them which law they are talking about giving them the right to report wrong information about me while i do not own the card and I did not ever use it they refused to share that law with me. I believe this is an abuse of power i Believe they should not report me late on a card not mine for charges does not belong to me

Complaint: Few Months ago I moved into a new home and I Updated my mailing address with every one, on XX/XX/2018 around XXXX XXXX I received a call I have a past due account on Dicover card which I do not use that often I did explain I just moved to a new address and I never received a bill or statement from Discover I provided them with my address I asked for a copy of the statement to be mailed to me I asked not to put me on paperless statement. I thought the problem was taking care off. till my wife found out they are reporting her being late on the payment for more than 60 days and they are reporting me as well. we contacted them we asked them to remove the wrong false information about my wife as she is not the owner of this card she did not use it and the charges do not belong to her they decline our request they inform us they are allowed by law to do that but they did not share which law they are talking about. I explained to them it seems as they did not send the statement to me I explained to them that they contacted me on XX/XX/2018 I paid over the phone to make the account current and I was waiting for the hard copy statement to check the charges i questioned them why they collected payment from me and reported me the same day me and my wife. they said because maybe the payment took more time to post to the account!!! I paid them over the phone so the account could become current and I avoid any late charges or any problems but they still reported me late on payment which reduced my credit score more than 40 points and that will cause me and my business too much harm. they refused to remove the wrong reported information, I paid the account in full over the phone I closed it and I asked them to remove negative information about me and my wife they declined our request.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I called Discover Student loans to investigate a payment assistance plan. I end the phone call with my payment being reduced to by 50 % reducing my payments from XXXX to XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I went to purchase gas and my card was declined. I used the app on my phone and found that in addition to taking the XXXX from my account Discover Student Loans also took XXXX from my account for a total amount of XXXX being taken from my account. I explicitly asked them woman on the original call to remove the original auto payment amount from my account and she confirmed it would be removed. This was not the case. Ive been going back and for with Discover Student Loans going on eight months receiving first apologizes and promises that a refund would be issued and the loan repayment assistance plan retro actively added to my account, then receiving promises via the electrotonic messaging inter face that my case was being looked over by numerous supervisors. Now and I all I get from them is phone calls and emails saying that my account is seriously in default. I have never stopped making monthly payments of {$230.00} what I was told over the phone my reduced payments would be. Im worried my credit score will take forever to recover for something that numerous people have admitted to me over the phone is definitely not my fault. Please help.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I opened up an online savings account with Discover with initial deposit of {$15000.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, while on vacation, I received a voice-message from Discover asking me to call them back for account verification. When I called back, the Discover Account Security Rep., XXXX XXXX, XXXX, asked me if I made two wire transfers in the amounts of {$5100.00} and {$9200.00}. I immediately replied NO, I have not made any transactions from or to my account since the opening date. She stated that she's going to reverse those wire transfers and would credit my account for the transfers amount and wire fees since I did not made those transactions. She also assured me that per the Discover {$0.00} Liability Fraud Policy, attached, I am not responsible for unauthorized debit card, online, or mobile banking transactions. She later called that day informing me that she was able to reverse one of the wire transfers, {$5100.00}, but the second transfer the receiving bank has not responded yet. She also recommended for extra security to open a new saving account to transfer the remaining balance and create a verbal password when call in, until the other transfer is cleared. I then requested to talk to a supervisor, XXXX ID # XXXX, for crediting my account for the second unauthorized transfer and he too stated, Discover {$0.00} Liability Fraud Policy that I am not responsible for unauthorized debit card, online, or mobile banking transactions, however, crediting my account may take up to 7 to 10 business days. Last Friday, on XX/XX/XXXX, I called XXXX but he was not available, so I spoke with another supervisor XXXX,, who she said she would call me back before the EOB day Friday to give me an update. When she called back, she then put me in touch with Discover Investigation group representative, XXXX, XXXX, whom told me a different story than the rest of Discover staff. He stated that he's going to investigate and request the receiving bank to return the funds but there is no guarantees to get my money back!!!! He also requested me to sign an affidavit, which he's going to mail to me for signature, when I asked him why can't he email or fax me the blank form to save some time, he stated that's Discover policy, I am now waiting for the form to come in the mail. On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted the company to request a reduction of my 21.24 % interest rate. I spoke with a CSR named XXXX and his Supervisor, XXXX. They both told me that their records show that I am eligible rate, however, no lower rate was shown in their system. XXXX was " intrigued '' by the situation but could not provide an interest rate reduction. He did offer a refund of the {$74.00} interest that I was charged on my last statement. I think I should receive a lower interest rate.

Complaint: While I was attending school at XXXX College I took out a private student loan. I graduated in XX/XX/XXXX and 6 months later Discover bank contacted me and stated I owed {$800.00} for my monthly student loan payments. I explained to Discover that I was not making enough money to pay that and asked about a payment plan being worked out. Discover Bank turned me down multiple times stating that they do not do payment plans. Finally my mother XXXX XXXX ( co-signer ) and myself got a lawyer XXXX XXXX of XXXX, NY to help with Discover Bank. On XX/XX/XXXX myself and my mother XXXX XXXX signed a payment agreement contract with Discover Bank lawyer XXXX XXXX of XXXX XXXX XXXX stating that in 10 years I will have paid the loan off of {$74000.00}. Since then I have been making the agreed payments every month however Discover Bank is reporting it to the credit bureau that the loan was " In Collections/Charge-off '' and it's " charged off as bad debt Dispute resolved ; reported by grantor 's ''. I have disputed this with XXXX by sending them my payment history of my mothers bank account where it shows no payments have been missed because the checks are being cashed. XXXX then passed it on to Discover Bank and Discover stated after there investigation that they are reporting it correctly and it will not come off my credit report until it's paid in full. This was not an issue until recently, from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX they were reporting it as making agreed payments now all of sudden Discover Bank is reporting it as stated above. This is a very serious issue because I am trying to buy a house for my family and because Discover Bank is reporting incorrectly they will not approve for a mortgage.

Complaint: Discover closed my account for absolutely no reason at all. Im a long time customer ( 6 years ) never been late, wasnt maxed out ( only at 30 % ) and I dont have negatives on my credit report. Their letter when closing my account stated we are no longer able to meet your service needs. No real explanation, and no help when I called to ask why. Said there is nothing they can do. This hugely effects my credit negatively as I have limited credit, and did absolutely nothing to deserve this.
