Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I walked into a XXXX XXXX to make a large payment {$2500.00}. Before I went there I called Capital One and they said I could make a large payment at the store. I went to desk and made payment, or so I thought. I then received my statement and it indicated that the payment was not processed correctly by the employee correctly at the store. I immediately called the Capital one and spoke with a supervisor. The first supervisor told me that the account had accrued {$70.00} in interest, I was told that if I made a payment by the next due date then the XXXX dollars would come off, so I did a complete balance transfer. Additional charges were made to card, so I called to make another payment and to see if the XXXX dollars had been removed. I spoke with a second supervisor I was told that there was not XXXX dollars in interest and that the first supervisor had suspended the interest so I would not have to pay interest until a payment was made. I argued that the first supervisor had stated there was 70 dollars but the 2nd supervisor stated there was not interest because it had been suspended, I didn't agree but I paid the balance. In the meantime I had dropped a class from a local college I was told by the school that the money would go back into the Capital one card, so I called today to see if the money had been returned. The automated service said that there was a finance charge of XXXX dollars, so I spoke with a third supervisor he stated that it was interest from the account that had collected and that it was being assessed to my account. When I asked if he could listen to the previous record of my phone calls he said he would not going to do that, I asked multiple times for someone to dispute these charges he said he was the only person I could dispute charges with. Multiple mistakes have been made and it seems the only person paying for them is me, first my payment was not processed properly and intrested accrued. I was then given the wrong information not once but twice by two different supervisors, I was then again assessed interest which I was told had been suspended but had not been. I also find it very convenient that the day I clear the account more money is charged not two days later on an account that should of had a zero balance.

Complaint: I am writing to state that Capital One 's credit card business is purposely trapping consumers with late fees. And they should be required to update their site and billing practices to correct this. History of events : 1. Bill was sent with payment due date of XX/XX/XXXX, to the amount of {$7000.00}. ( ok ) 2. Next bill was due XX/XX/XXXX for {$7000.00} + fees and interest totaling {$7100.00}. ( ok ) 3. Their website site offered the following payment options and info : a ) Last statement balance ( and showed the amount ), b ) Current balance ( and showed the amount ), c ) Minimum payment ( and showed the amount ). When I paid {$7100.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, which was the stated total of the bill before the XX/XX/XXXX due data ( and {$0.00} over the amount due ), I expected to have paid in the amount in full, and have a zero balance due. However, according to Capital One the " Current balance '' is DIFFERENT FROM what they call the " Pay off balance '', which is the Current balance PLUS unstated additionally charged interest. Having addition interest due on the due date that is beyond the amount noted IN THE BILL is poor credit card business policy ( to the point of sounding questionable legally ). But, MORE importantly, not having this " Pay off balance '' amount clearly stated on the main account page of their website, nor on the payment page, is nothing short of a trap. Yes, I should have opened my next bill. But knowing that I paid it in full well ahead of the due date, and then removed that card from my wallet -- I didn't. To be clear, when I reached out to them, they did reimburse me for the late fee ... though NOT the late fees applied to the late fees on the unstated interest for the next 3 months.

I've attempted several times to ratify the issue with the original creditors and credit bureaus and they still reporting inaccurate, unverifiable information. I see multiple CO remarks from XXXX and XXXX and there is no XXXX payment history. I'm pretty sure this is inaccurate reporting and a violation.

Complaint: I noticed that a collection was appearing my credit report from Capital One Bank. I sent Capital One Bank a written letter on XX/XX/2019 requesting some sort of verification/validation of this erroneous reporting. Capital One Bank responded with a letter onXX/XX/2019stating that the debt was reporting correctly. Capital One Bank, blatantly ignored my request for verification since they are STILL reporting this erroneous, misleading and slanderous information to the CRAs. Why is it the consumers job to provide the creditor information to do their job. If they reported the information to the CRA 's then they SHOULD have all of the information readily available.

The option to pay on the past due amount was an ideal proposal and I began to make payments and arranged a future payment schedule. I have been paying this way for about 2 months. Now this month when I went online to make my payment, there is a red message telling me the account is closed and for me to make payments until the balance is paid off. About 2 months ago the account was breached and I sent XXXX a message that someone had been phishing my account. I knew this because I had to change my password to access the account. Meanwhile, XXXX told me that there was no problem with the account and if it had been breached, just to change the password. XXXX also told me that I could continue to use the online feature of XXXX to make purchases, I just could not use the XXXX charge card to pay for them.

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I discovered that 6 years after our divorce, my ex-wife had a credit card with Kohl 's that I was listed on. That account was over the credit limit at approximately {$1600.00} versus their {$1500.00} limit. I notified my ex-wife and provided her with funds to 1 ) pay off the account and 2 ) close the account. My ex-wife paid approximately {$600.00} of the {$1600.00} and closed the account, which dropped my credit with XXXX from XXXX to XXXX in late XX/XX/XXXX/early XX/XX/XXXX. I filed challenges with XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX XXXX who all referred me back to Kohl 's. I called Kohl 's and explained the situation to which they said that I was second and " not an Add-on '' to the account, therefore they were holding me responsible. Both my ex-wife and daughter called Kohl 's to exonerate me. By having Kohl 's launching these attacks, including another today, my credit is being held hostage, now at XXXX as my ex-wife does not have funds to pay the account so they wreck my credit trying to extort money from me. I would like this situation to be stopped since I did not sign up for, receive, or use a Kohl 's Credit Card and did nothing to cause the problem. Kohl 's is trying, in my opinion, to extort payment from me even though I never signed or received a Kohl 's card. Also, I have lived in California, not in Texas to this date, where some of the credit agencies are listing me as living in Texas at my ex-wife 's address. Our divorce was final on XX/XX/XXXX. Kohl 's obviously does not have a contract wet-signed by me.

Complaint: CAPITAL ONE REFUSES TO OFFER A HARDSHIP PLAN! Account has not been paid since XX/XX/2019 and they are still refusing as of XX/XX/2019 to offer help to me. On top of that, Capital One has called me excessively regarding my delinquent accounts. They call every 30 minutes, even though they are able to leave a message. Today, Saturday, I have 6 calls from them in an 7 hour period. ** I have 2 Capital One accounts that are past due by 2 payments, soon to be 3 payments past due on the XXXX. ** I've called several times over the past 4 weeks, and recently these are the 2 in-depth conversations listed below. XX/XX/19 : I talked to them for over 45 minutes, and was told the system didn't show any programs for me. Only that they could not charge a late fee, which doesn't help a thing. XX/XX/19 : I called today, and another rep also said no program is available, and then he told me that only ONE time in 24 months has he ever seen someone's account show a program. DECEPTIVE AND MISLEADING PRACTICE : When you are on the Capital One website, they have this automatic form that says " Payment Option '' " Build Your Payment Plan ''. No matter what number you type in there, it rejects your offer, unless you type in the entire past due and current amount. In other words, this form is rigged. I am behind {$290.00}, and it wouldn't approve {$50.00} a month, or {$100.00}, or {$150.00} a month or {$200.00} a month. It would only approve {$290.00} or higher. I can't afford {$100.00} a month, but I typed it in to see. ALL of my other creditors XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, ALL offered me a long-term hardship plan. All offered 0 %. EVERY SINGLE ONE. We are in a place of significant financial hardship. My income is down significantly since last year, and has been all through 2019, and we had a $ XXXX emergency vet expense, that required a down payment, to go on a vet payment plan. I can't keep up with the payments, and Capital One REFUSES to allow a plan. I've tried EVERYTHING to get on a plan. They just want to continue stacking fees on top of my 27 % interest rate. When it goes to collection and I finally get a settlement, the balance is going to be so high that it won't be doable then. They are absolutely the worst company to deal with. I wish I had never done business with them. In fact, I pro-actively closed all my accounts today! I will never do business with them ever. Their inability to help me is causing me emotional anxiety, extreme stress, poor health from the worry and not able to sleep, and hard to focus to keep business going during the day, especially with all their excessive phone calls. RESOLUTION SEEKING : 0 % Long-term payment plan - like my other creditors have done.

Complaint: I applied for and opened a new Spark Business Rewards Credit Card in the beginning of XX/XX/2019. Before I received it my wife received an offer for the SAME card with better promotional terms/bonuses AND and lower annual fee. Upon calling the company they informed me that nothing could be done without closing the account, reapplying for the new card with a new credit check and new inquiries on the credit report ( which was done one week prior ). I understand the promotional terms change on cards from time to time and that is perfectly acceptable. But these more beneficial promotional terms are being unfairly sent to specific people. New promotions are not being offered to all of the public equally. Understandably, certain promotions are based on credit worthiness, but everyone should equally be given the chance to apply for a card with same promotional terms available.. The application process should be used to determine if one 's credit worthiness is sufficient to receive the particular card. Still, as of today ( XX/XX/19 ), these promotions are NOT being offered on the capital one website to the general public, but are being solicited to specific individuals ( regardless if they own a business or not ). I applied for my card on the website without any solicitation and was not offered these terms and I am still not being offered these terms. I understand the purpose of solicitations, however unequal treatment of who these terms are being offered too and not making them available to anyone applying for the card is unacceptable, not to mention discriminatory.

Complaint: I was offered a credit card in store when I made a large purchase of over {$500.00}. I excepted the card and never received the actual credit card. About two months later I receive the statement with the total amount of the purchase and late fees - even though I still hadnt received the card nor a previous statement. I had tried to create an account online to pay it off quickly and I couldnt do that because I didnt have the card. I called to complain and they said they would send me another card. Meanwhile I decided to pay off the total amount and they said they would take off the late fee since I wasnt able to pay due to the problems with the carD delivery. I spent over an hour on the phone they told me they would takeoff the late fee and I paid the total balance and asked to close my account. They assured me I was paying off the total amount and yet I received another statement a few weeks later with another charge of interest and another late fee fora rotal od {$33.00}. I called to inquire and let them know that XXXX shouldve been taken care of and they told me at that point that unbeknownst to me, my balance had climbed to {$61.00} - versus XXXX! So now they not only didnt take off the 1st late fee that they promised but then they slapped on another {$27.00} and compounded interests! - yet my account is CLOSED. This is absolutely predatory- fraudulent ans needs to be stopped. I went from paying off jy total balance to owing {$60.00} without purchasing even a needle for a penny!!

I followed those instructions, but the merchant stopped communicating with me. After several attempts, I disputed the charge. Capital One took my complaint, but even with written evidence of this in an email chain, they would not resolve the complaint and asked me to take unreasonable measures such as spending a lengthy amount of time on the phone ( over XXXX minutes ) and seeking a second company to provide an opinion on the matter. The agent from Capital One who wasted my time and was unable to process this matter was XXXX ( XXXX ).

Complaint: I was charged to my Capital One Savor credit card in the amount of {$110.00} on XX/XX/19 with a charge showing as XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX. I contacted Capital One ( CO ) when I saw the charge on my account to let them know that I did not authorize or recognize the charge. They temporarily credited the amount to my account and they claim to have conducted an investigation. They claim that the credit card was physically present at the time of the alleged transaction and that that makes me responsible for it. They charged the amount of {$110.00} back to my card on XX/XX/19. On the day of the original fraudulent charge I was in XXXX, XXXX flying home to the United States. The charge says XXXX XXXX on it, but I have never in my life been in XXXX XXXX. CO has been unable to provide me with an address and exact time that the card was allegedly charged. I cant even find an establishment with a name that matches any part of the charge name that is in XXXX where I was on XX/XX/19. CO does not have a receipt of the transaction, they have no signature from me ( or anyone else for that matter ) for the transaction, there is no itemized information about what the charged alleged service or good may be, and there is no name of an individual at the alleged establishment that is known. Honestly I dont even know if there is a human being associated with this charge on the other end and it seems like CO has no idea if there is either, and yet CO is still asking me to pay for it. I reviewed all other charges from my trip to XXXX and I recognize all others as authorized, but this one I did not consent for and do not recognize. I know for a fact that I did consent to any individual purchase of over {$100.00} on the day that I departed from XXXX. Furthermore, I did not have the credit card in my physical presence and eyesight the entire time I was in XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX ). I handed the card over to merchants on several occasions for them to run it through for other charges that I recognize ( like for a dinner or gas ). So, it is possible that at some point a person that I gave my card to then charged my card for an unknown and unauthorized charge unbeknownst to me. Also, I never received a written letter from CO stating the results of their investigation. They say that they mailed it but they didnt provide any delivery confirmation and I am still waiting for this correspondence today. In summary, I did not authorize this charge or receive any further details about the alleged merchant associated with the charge, and therefore I do not believe I should be held responsible for paying for it.

Complaint: Greetings, this is the second time that I had to write to the cfpb in regards to this matter that I am facing with capital one. During the hurricane capital one put me on a program to help individuals with difficulty not to have late fees on their account, and they sent me a letter putting all three accounts on the program and I accept and again there is no where in the letter that mentioned if you are late that they will report it to the bureaus and if they had clarified that I would of asked for help to pay on time but since they say that I will not have any issues so I accept to be in the program. I called capital one this week XXXX XXXX and spoke with a young lady that I explained to her that I am doing a va loan and it is imperative that I dont have any late payments shown in my report even though that I paid both accounts full and after those two months of XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX my account never late or before XX/XX/XXXX never late, so please see what you can do for me please mam to remove those two closed accounts from my file. She responded that she will call me back within an hour to investigate the account completely. Now, she did call me back and states that sir, I do show that you were on a program for the hurricane that happened in Florida in XXXX and that we can not remove the late remarks or remove the account because they have to report it so I answer her, mam, then why was I put in a program to get help from capital one during these difficult times. So basically, capital one is reporting to the public that they are helping people and yet that is not true at all, because if you read what I wrote at the beginning of my letter it clearly states that they have a program to help military individuals which I am a 100 percent total and permanent XXXX veteran. I made sure I paid in full both accounts without ever missed a payment and capital one dont have the decency to remove an account that I paid in full from my credit that is already closed. That is sad and ashamed especially when I am trying to put a roof over my families head, put yourself in my shoes president of the bank, workers of capital one, ceo of capital one put yourself in my shoes, especially when you didnt do, anything wrong. I WAS PUT IN A PROGRAM AND I NO MATTER WHAT I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE MYSELF FROM IT AND PAID IT IN FULL WITHOUT ANY LATE PAYMENTS.

Complaint: I am a customer at Capital One bank, XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have had this account for over 3 years now. I have been waiting on a settlement check from an auito accident back in 2017. I planned on using this amount ( XXXX ) to pay credit cards off and mortgage payment, ; and also a lawyer for a divorce i an going though. I had stopped using this account last year due to excessive overdraft fees imposed by cap one. ( XXXX fees at XXXX each ). for XXXX check i thought I cashed already. I talked to cap one, but they would not remove only XXXX. So I did not use that account. Until this past week when I needed to deposit the check i got for the settlement. I had tried other banks, but it was too large. So i tried XXXX, and it took it. and it was put on hold as i expected it would be. Then within the next couple of days I showed {$5000.00} available. Then the next couple days I paid bills with the available amount. This was on XXXX - XXXX I paid XXXX different bills. and my XXXX that i held off until i got this check. After the weekend i had not noticed the balance changing. I thought maybe becasue iof the weekend that come this week they would start being paid. On Tuesday -* Wednesday, still no change. So i tried using the debit card for that account., it was declined. That wast the first time I really figured there was something was wrong. So i called XXXX XXXX. At first they told me everything looked good and should work. Then they took a closser look. They came back to me and said my account had been charged off? What? First i have heard? So ok whats the fix, it shows my full amount available.? and i have payments going thru? Then I was told the account was restricted? What? why? and how come I didn't know? and why did it accept my check and show available? Plus they deducted the amount for the overdraft from last year!! and I still have not access to my funds, and payments are not being returned for NSF, with associated fees!! f plus a mark on my credit score for being late. XXXX XXXX tells me the only thing they can do is to issued a paper check back minus the NSF fees. and that will take XXXX to XXXX business days. so i have to wait to make all of these other accounts right, pay my mortgage, etc oh yeah and EAT! Now i have no money and i am out the fees they had already charged off. over {$250.00}. I asked them to open a new account and put money into that. Nope cant do that, have to send a check that is it. no matter who i spoke to, cold, uncaring and reverted back to fine print policy. over and over., I am so frustrated and angry at what they have done to me. and I am just supposed to sit here and be good with all of it. No. They have been unfair to m, e as a consumer. that check should have never been accepted in the first place. especially if it had been charged off, but not closed? And then proceed to show the amount available with a little green dot next to my debit card showing it was all good to go. This cant be right? I asked them if they are going to pay for al lof the fees that will ge the results of this. yeah right. Thats it. I am sitting here waiting on a check so i can try and right this ship/. but Cap One should not be able to do this to a consumer. and then basically tell you tough luck, nothing you can do about it!! this is so wrong. I am at my wits end dealing with this and all of the phone calls now coming from the returned payments! Plus with the divorce i am having to XXXX my house to pay off my soon to be ex her portion of the house to finalize the divorce. now with this, my current mortgage payment will be late and affect my credit score and possibly nixing my refi chances and that opens up a whole other can of financial mess.. This should have never been allowed to happen. if the account was restricted and charged off, it should not have been accepting deposits.
