Complaint: 1. Suffered Financial Hardship. Instead of filing BK, I negotiated with Capital One to repay outstanding credit card debt. 2. Entered into an agreement on XX/XX/XXXX at a set balance and repayment amount to make monthly payments. This account was not accessible to me online, it was by billing through regular mail only. 3. Capital One accepted monthly payments and on XX/XX/XXXX, they changed account supervisors and reset the amount owed to a higher, incorrect amount. I continued to make payments even though they changed the agreement. I was unable to get anyone to communicate why the change in amounts owed. I made 67 consecutive payments. 4. In XXXX of XXXX, I stopped receiving statements and I had no idea what my payment or balance owed was at any time after the statements stopped. The account could not be accessed via phone or online. I called my account supervisor XXXX XXXX several times with no return call. I continued to blindly make the {$100.00} per month payment with an old payment coupon.I never received any communication past this point from Capital One. 4. XX/XX/XXXX I made what would end up being my last payment. I called Capital One in XXXX, because I was no longer receiving billing or statements with the outstanding account balance ( which was incorrect from the unexplained reset anyway ). The person I spoke to said they never received a XXXX payment and the account was permanently closed. I explained to her that I had confirmation that they had received the payment. I did have a credit report pulled and it showed the payment being made, but no change to the balance owed, and again the balance owed was not accurate. The credit report indicated the account was settled. 5. I received no further communication or return calls from Capital One after they told me the account was permanently closed. 6. XX/XX/XXXX I received a collection notice demanding an amount higher than what I owed to Capital One from a collection agency. They have threatened to sue me, and ruin my credit. They insulted me about having an outstanding debt. I tried to negotiate and they refused. 7. I called Capital One to find out why they sent the account to collection instead of communicating with me directly and continuing to accept my payments. I upheld my agreement for 67 consecutive months, and I would continue to meet my obligation until the debt was paid in full, however they made that impossible when they stopped communicating with me, changed the terms of the agreement without notice, and stopped sending statements without notice or cause.

Complaint: In the year of XXXX I randomly received a letter from Capital One regarding a Capital One 360 Checking account. I was immediately scared and thought I was a victim of identity theft. I have NEVER opened a Capital One Checking account. The is account with my name and address on it seems to have a negative balance of - {$490.00}. I called Capital One using a phone number listed for them online and not the one on the letter itself. I also assumed this could be a phishing letter or scam letter. But, when I called them, after some searching they did find an account they feel is mine. This account they found is NOT a checking account at all. It was a very old and charged of account from ING an old online banking savings account that was opened in XXXX, assumed charged off and closed by me. I recall the collection process ended smoothly as I was deemed Mentally Disbaled by Social Security SSDI and 100 % of my income was non collectible by law and I did not have the funds to repay that debt. I never heard from ING again. That very old ING account has already fallen off my credit report many years ago. I sent a cease and desist letter to Capital One, they admit having it on file in relation to the bogus Checking account someone created using my name and information. I have received quarterly statements for over 1 full year now, made many phone calls to them pleading they stop sending me these statements and demanding they CLOSE this or any accounts that are NOT mine. Several times I was told they would take care of it. The cease and Desist letter was received in XX/XX/XXXX and I got another collection letter on XX/XX/XXXX for XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. The account is still listed as OPEN. I never had a checking account with Capital One. If they have acquired old ING accounts I have explained that account was Closed and charged off a long time ago and that they can't try to collect on another companies already charged off debt. I demand this fake Capital One account be CLOSED since I never opened it and I want these fake statements to stop coming to me in the mail. It is XXXX and they say the ING debt was charged of in XXXX, its not a debt to them and it is beyond collection time on this old debt.

Complaint: The issue concerns my Capital One MasterCard. My husband and I have been using this credit card issuer for a number of years. On XX/XX/2019, my husband and I left the country for several weeks. While abroad, I was unable to monitor the account activity. In late XX/XX/2019, I received an email message from Capital One requesting confirmation of a purchase. I was in XXXX, XXXX at the time and informed the institution that I did not make the purchase. I had a long telephone conversation with Capital One, from which it became clear that someone had used the account shortly following our departure from the U.S. Capital One advised that on XX/XX/2019, the day following our departure, someone had called to request a new credit card. At the time, I was in possession of my old card with the same number and occasionally used it for purchases while abroad. Long story short, I am the victim of identity theft and fraud and Capital One is refusing to take recognize that fact. They claim that no fraud had occurred and they are holding me responsible for all charges.

Complaint: Capital One bank is incorrectly reporting my credit card accounts that I have with them. I currently have two accounts, and only one is being reported. To make matters even worse, the account that is not being reported is the account that is in good standing where I have not had a late payment in 2 years and have received several credit limit increases. How can a company have such a blatant oversight that adversely affects one 's credit and finances? I submitted a dispute in this regard in XX/XX/2019 and no updates were made to my credit file.

Complaint: After months of trying to access my account with this company all I ever got was 'computer loops ' and when I called for assistance the individuals I encountered could not speak English well enough to be understand easily and some times not at all understandable. Frustrated, I contacted the 'Consumer Protection Agency '. The response I received from this company was to call again and they wanted further verification that this is my account, which I requested frozen, as they did not mail the new credit card timely or not at all and was concerned. They requested the reverse side on my expired drivers license to verify that it is my account. ( poor vision will not allow my driving at this time ). I am out of the country taking care of family business and gave them my contact information in XXXX and assured them that my residence information in the USA had not changed. After my contacting the Consumer Protection Agency, hurriedly they posted negativity to my excellent credit rating ... .because they won't allow me to access my account ... not fair and is inductive of 'we have control ' attitude. Several days ago I called again ( 41 minutes ), they did accept a double payment from me and when I said you send me email every other day as 'friendly reminders ' and now you absolutely know who you are dealing with as you asked me if you could take the payment money from my XXXX account, you, at this time are positive it is me. I then requested to allow me to change my password to access my account, they refused and when I asked to speak to an English speaking supervisor ... .they hung up. Who are these people and what the XXXX is going on with this company.

Capital one insisted that they know who was on the account for deposit and to call the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, where the deposit came from to get a full identification of the depositor. I went through 2 weeks of hold and waiting for the funds to clear. I waited on hold for hours to have then connect with the other bank and was told by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that they would not verify the deposit. Capital One would then not release any funds to me even after they said they were closing my account. I asked for a check to be mailed and that has not happened either. I need this money for emergency home repair.

I informed the representative that 1 ) I did not authorize this transaction 2 ) I received a phishing attempt after the transaction was made telling me to update my account by clicking a link and 3 ) that I suspected further fraudulent activity - the XXXX representative said the only way to receive my money back was to send them my medical records On XX/XX/XXXX I received an email from Capital One 's card investigations team requesting the following : - A copy of the original purchase receipt - Your efforts to resolve the dispute with the merchant - The expected date of the hotel stay/rental - The date of cancelation ( include the cancelation number if you have it ) - The merchant 's cancelation policy - this helps us with your dispute - Proof you canceled within the merchant 's cancelation terms On XX/XX/XXXX I emailed back providing documentation proving the fraudulent activity ( ie phishing email attempt/XXXX request for medical records ) and explained how I never received proof of cancellation because this was an unauthorized transaction. On XX/XX/XXXX I was told by Capital One my claim was denied because I did not have proof of cancelation of the XXXX within 24 hours of it being authorized.

Complaint: Capital One reported " computer issues '' in XXXX of XXXX that somehow affected their apps displayed minimum payment due with the actual amount due. Since I was enrolled in paperless billing at the time, I did not have a physical statement to compare the payments to. The app stated that I needed to pay {$57.00} dollars in XXXX when I actually needed to pay {$59.00}. They are reporting a thirty day delinquency on my credit report over the {$2.00} shortage. Yet they have admitted that it was a " bug '' in their app 's software. In light of all their recent cyber troubles I insist that they remove this delinquency. This account has been open since XXXX and I've never been late. Something is not consistent with their false accusation.
