Complaint: I had a XXXX American Express Rewards Card. I stopped using it. The program for XXXX was transferred to XXXX in 2016. They called to ask if I wanted to have a XXXX BarclaysCard. I told them I did not. I did not renew. Then I started to receive a bill every month or so, with an amount due for {$40.00}. I called and told them I never accepted this card, please cancel. It kept coming. I believe I called 3 times. Recently, my credit was pulled for a home purchase. I see that my credit score had dropped XXXX points. We found out it was because of a delinquency from this {$40.00} charge from a card I never accepted. You can call the BarclaysCard Investigation Specialist for more information. XXXX

Complaint: Re : Barclay Bank XXXX card : I wrote out a " 0 % '' cash advance check in the amount of {$6500.00} to an individual that turned out to be a fraudulent individual. The check was written out and handed to him on Friday, XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX I immediately called Barclay Bank to inquire if I could stop the check. I got right thru to a customer service agent in the U.S. He said that they could n't stop it as it had n't yet appeared on my account.but not to worry, that it would take 7 - 10 business days to clear and that I would have plenty of time to stop it the following week. I asked again, are you sure I can stop it? Not a problem, definitely would not clear before 7 - 10 business days. That Monday was a legal Holiday, XXXX XXXX, i could n't call on Tuesday because I was working. On Wednesday, XXXX XXXX - I spent 4 hours! I repeat 4 hours - trying to get thru to the credit card customer service. I even called XXXX XXXX and they connected me finally - completely panicked. I could no longer reach a customer service in the U.S. I was told the check already cleared and that there was nothing they could do to help me. These are the complaint records : XXXX, XXXX XXXX ( Agent ) and Barclay Card XXXX - ( Agent ) XXXX - Case # XXXX. I just googled Barclay Bank to see if I could reach the corporate office. I see the Breaking News that they are in the headlines for fraudulent practises.

Complaint: A few weeks ago I noticed a very unusual charge on by BarclayCard US Master Card ... interest ... .which I have rarely had in 30 years of using cards. I assumed they made a mistake and omitted the tiny amount from my payment, figuring they 'd figure it out. There was more interest charged the following bill, so I phoned them. We figured out that I had confused a XXXX for a XXXX on the first bill, resulting in a {$20.00} deficit, and thus the interest charge. Not only did BarclayCard US Master Card refuse to waive the interest given that I have been a very good customer paying hundreds of dollars per month to them on behalf of vendors we do business with, they informed me that if I cancelled the card upon full payment, I 'd lose all my earned mileage ( approx. 70000 ). And since their annual membership fee is due in a few weeks, I 'm stuck doing business with such people for another whole year in order to use the well-earned mileage from them. Beware of BarclayCard US Master Card, the ( not ) ethical company.

Complaint: Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Until recently, I enjoyed a near perfect credit history. I take considerable measures to ensure that I retain this standing as this is very important to me personally and professionally. In XXXX XXXX, I decided to increase my available credit by applying for the Barclays Ring MasterCard and was approved for a {$12000.00} credit limit. I signed on for paperless statements at that time. The card remained unused, until it happened that on XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX I mistook my Barclays card for the one I usually use. On those two days I used it to pay for a total of {$1.00} in parking fees and {$17.00} for food, for a total of {$18.00}. I have not used the card since. I received NO monthly statements, electronic or otherwise notifying me that I owed anything until an email dated XXXX/XXXX/XXXX informing me that my account payment was two months late. I then received my FIRST online monthly statement EVER on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX indicating that I owed {$64.00}. I became aware of these two emails on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX at which point I immediately paid off the full balance on my card and signed up for automatic payments. I contacted Barclays on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX as soon as I became aware that my credit report had already been hit with a late payment notification. I was instructed by Barclays to make a formal request in writing. I was asking to have the late payment report be retracted, given the fact that I had not been notified about the charges that were pending. After a review period, Barclays denied my request. I am writing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau now to help me appeal this decision. I believe that Barclays is primarily at fault for not having notified me ( in writing or electronically ) that my account was in arrears. Had I simply known about my late payment status, I would have immediately payed the balance not only to avoid late payment charges, but most importantly to preserve my good credit standing. I have attached ALL communications between Barclays and me since the initial account was opened. You can see by the records that Barclays had ample capacity to notify me ( as is their duty ) but chose not to do so. As soon as I received my first notifications, the record shows that I acted promptly to resolve the matter. By that time Barclays had already submitted their late payment report to the credit agencies. They are now refusing to reverse this report and they take no responsibility for the chain of events. This decision by Barclays is hurting my credit score significantly and my personal life financially. I request that Barclays take the necessary measures to remove these negative reports from my credit history. I believe that Barclays has been negligent in their duty to inform me of my account being in arrears and that their actions in causing me real damage. I hope that the CFPB can help resolve the issue I 'm having with Barclays. I will escalate this matter to a lawyer need be.

Complaint: I signed up for the Barclay Gold MasterCard arou nd XXXX XXXX . I was approved for the card with the following benefits : 0 % interest for the lifetime of the card while I was on XXXX XXXX service, annual fee waiver of {$990.00} ( {$290.00} for each Authorized User added to the account ) for the lifetime of the card while I was on XXXX XXXX service, and other small benefits. I recently received an email stating that Barclay changed their terms and are now making me pay the annual fee. The only way I can avoid the fee is paying off the entire balance of the card and canceling by XXXX XXXX . I am currently unable to pay off the card in this short amount of time and will be forced to pay the annual fee of {$990.00}. The entire reason I even got the card was because the original terms had the fee waived, I am unable to afford a credit card with an annual fee of {$990.00}.

I asked them to remove the inquiry, and to forward any documents that showed I agreed to apply for their credit. They replied with a letter, dated XXXX XXXX , 2017 , saying the inquiry was valid. I did not apply for their credit and I suspect this is a result of fraud. They also failed to send any documents to verify the results of their investigation.

Complaint: I paid a bill online and inadvertently sent a payment to my Williams-Sonoma Visa card instead of my Rapid Rewards Visa. I had charges for a four person trip to XXXX in my Rapids Rewards Visa and intended to send {$12000.00} to my XXXX XXXX Rapid Rewards Card. I received an e-mail from Williams-Sonoma Visa on XXXX XXXX to acknowledge my payment. I notified them immediately and it was agreed I now had a XXXX credit balance. I have called several times and have been told that the money was not actually in the W-S account because it takes a long time to clear the bank. It is now XXXX XXXX. I need this money to pay the account I actually owe. I feel W-S is keeping my money as long as they possibly can when I do not owe them any money.

Complaint: This is a debt/judgment that I owe and I am trying to pay ( that was not an option for me to choose on the previous page ). On X/X/17 I tried to pay a collection agency XXXX XXXX XXXX of what I owe from credit card from Barclays bank. I used their website to enter my checking account information. I received a receipt that I made the payment. A week passed and the collections agency did not take the money from my checking account. I called the XXXX XXXX XXXX to tell them that the money was still in my account and a representative told me that it was ok it took time for the funds to be removed. Another week passed and the funds are still in my checking account. I called again and another rep. told me they received word they could not find my account that is why they could not retrieve the funds. So I asked this Representative that I can pay the debt now and they told me no because my account is closed. The told me I had to cont act Barclays. I called Barclays to see if could pay them and they told me no too because my account was closed. XXXX XXXX XXXX told me they would have to ask Barclays for permission to open the account so I can pay my debt. As of today, X/XX/17 I still can not pay them and I feel like they are playing a game with me. I have never heard of a credit card or collections company that would not take a payment. I am trying to rectify this because I am in in the process of trying to purchase my first home and the judgment has to be off of my credit report. Also, my credit report says money due is {$2300.00} but XXXX XXXX XXXX says I owe {$2600.00} that I have been trying to pay. Is that legal they are charging me more? All I want is to rectify this, pay what I owe so it can be taking off of my credit report. Can you help me?

Complaint: Barclays through XXXX XXXX was paid off infill on XX/XX/XXXX with multiple verifications, that being Barclays phone support, XXXX online statements which it was paid with, and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX via phone and email and PDF. Credit bureau still reports that my account has a XXXX dollar balance as of XX/XX/XXXX which would be 6 months after fulfillment of payment and cancellation of account. They refuse to give me a PDF copy of my last statement showing my XXXX balance, refuse to give me a confirmation of my XXXX balance to show my bank, and are even arguing with their collection agency ; XXXX, on giving them a statement with my account ID and account number being shown in the statement.

I was approved for the card! but however your website DOES NOT state that each team have a master or Visa card assigned to each Team in my case I 'm a XXXX XXXX XXXX Fan and that team has a master card logo per your rep at Barclaycard. therefore I did n't not get the team logo of my choice that would be like someone at Barclaycard coming to work with a XXXX XXXX XXXX t shirt on that would n't go over so well! I was approved for visa. I will not carry another teams card around IN WHICH The card that I canceled would have did me no good also I will not allow another hard inquiry on my credit file which I hope you will understand Therefore it would n't have did me any good. Complaint: I have had a XXXX Barclay Master Card since Barclays started the program. Prior to it was with XXXX. I am a current card holder in good standing with an XXXX credit rating. I applied to upgrade my card to a fee based card with better bonus benefits. I received a letter stating if I did n't respond in 30 days my request would be cancelled. they asked for an original con ed bill from my residence, a copy of my drivers license and a copy of my social security card. I sent the con ed bill and the drivers license and a copy of my XXXX card which is issued from the same governmental dept. everyones XXXX ID is their social security number. either they are cherry picking or discriminating Bafclay refused to accept the XXXX card. they would not take anything printed from my social security account from the website or a statement showing my social security payments.
