Struggling to pay your loan

Vehicle loan or lease: Lease

Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold
Complaint: I received a phone call from Honda Financial Services from a customer service representative who basically read me my last rights on keeping the vehicle. I explained to her that Honda Financial disabled my account access preventing me from logging in to make electronic payments. This made the situation worse because they were not mailing me bill statements in order to make a payment.

I had problems with the car - all four doors were covered in mold and mildew, the battery had to be replaced by me, dealer refused to replace it and wanted {$72.00} to send anyone someone to get it started for the second time in 10 days. I told the dealer and AHF that I wouldn't pay until the car was fixed since it was supposedly guaranteed. Dealer refused to fix it, I refused to pay. Told them to take it back. They said that it would damage my credit - IT HAS - I am unable to buy another car. They took the car and sold it for {$16000.00}. They expect me to pay {$5500.00} for a car I no longer own and they they have recouped their money and possibly more.

Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Vehicle loan or lease: Loan

Unable to receive car title or other problem after the loan is paid off
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I purchased a XXXX XXXX XXXX through XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX with a contract maturity date of XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I signed an Extension Agreement & Amendment Contract with ( AHFC ) for an Extended Maturity Date of XX/XX/XXXX XXXX attached ). I completed the mutual Extended Agreement with a 61-month contract maturity on XX/XX/XXXX. After making the final installment payment, XXXX refused to release the vehicle title, stating an additional amount was still due. There were numerous continuing phone conversations regarding this matter and on XX/XX/XXXX, I communicated with XXXX XXXX at XXXX extensively, who sent a detailed payment history. That payment history showed 61 payments were made, however, 2 payments were missing only 59 payments accounted for. The payment history showed missing the following paid installments : XXXX, XXXX check # XXXX PAID {$370.00} ; XXXX, XXXX check # XXXX PAID {$370.00}. TOTAL PAID {$740.00} not accounted on the payment history. In addition, for at least 5 years I disputed AHFCs efforts to collect additional payment, as it sent its solicitations through collection agencies : 1 ) XXXX XXXX XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX ; 2 ) XX/XX/XXXX ; 3 ) XX/XX/XXXX. I consistently sent written communications ( attached ) that I strongly dispute the validity of the account balance or any portion thereof regarding XXXX. Since XX/XX/XXXX to date, XXXX has refused to release my vehicle title. Although I have attempted to resolve the dispute with this company and its subsequent collection agencies ( attached ), XXXX alleges additional charges are due. In Illinois, written contracts including those for auto loans and other installment loans, have a 10-year Statute of Limitations. XXXX XXXX believes that it is above the law and has placed a lien on my vehicle ( Illinois ) title to prevent the transfer of ownership to another party. The vehicle in question is 17 years old. Its maintenance issues total over {$4000.00}, well over its current XXXX value and the vehicle must be replaced. XXXX has stated that the remaining balance due -- {$330.00} -- is for outstanding payments. To date, those payments still remain due and until they are paid, XXXX will not release the title to her vehicle. I recently telephoned AHFC ( XXXX ) on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX, and spoke to XXXX XXXX, who stated there is still a balance due of {$330.00} and the title will not be released until it is paid. I have included a ( attached ) copy of the BBB which rates AHFC with an F and states the following : Our opinion of what this rating means : We strongly question the companys reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the laws licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the companys industry is known for its fraudulent business practices.

Debt collection: Auto debt

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: The lease that I got when I originally leased the car said that I would be able to buy the car at the end of the lease. When I turned the car back in at the end of the lease the salesman would not talk to me about buying the car that I was returning. He would only talk to me about other cars that were a grade below the car I was returning and cars that I did not want. He just completely blew me off. Then when I came back a second time he was helping other people and I was just left to sit and wait for half an hour. He didnt return my email. They were basically just blowing me off. Now they want me to pay this huge mileage fee. They just wanted to be able to make me pay the mileage fee and buy another car and start over. Its not right.

Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Account information incorrect
Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX The errors on my XXXX credit report have NOT been corrected. Since American Honda Financial and XXXX XXXX XXXX are so incompetent that they can not seem to read and understand and fix their errors I took the time to copy, paste, highlight and spell them out for them so that they both and XXXX too can fix them and so that the CFPB can also do their job they are paid to do by the citizens of this country, including myself, and enforce the FCRA. Again, just in case any of you have forgotten what that law states the definition is listed below. FIX my credit reports NOW!! I do not want ANY phone calls from any of you, all must be in writing AND I wanted corrections made then updated with all three credit bureaus and a copy of each corrected credit report mailed to me and the IL Attorney General for review before this case is to be closed and I will be letting your boss President Trump know this as well! I have also contacted my attorney about all, the IL Attorney General and the NCUA!!!! XXXX XXXX Fair Credit Reporting Act The Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. 1681, is U.S. Federal Government legislation enacted to promote the accuracy, fairness, and privacy of consumer information contained in the files of consumer reporting agencies. It was intended to protect consumers from the willful and/or negligent inclusion of inaccurate information in their credit reports. To that end, the FCRA regulates the collection, dissemination, and use of consumer information, including consumer credit information. Together with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the FCRA forms the foundation of consumer rights law in the United States. It was originally passed in 1970, and is enforced by the US Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and private litigants.

Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Vehicle loan or lease: Lease

Unable to receive car title or other problem after the loan is paid off
Complaint: I leased a XXXX XXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX in XXXX, California on XX/XX/XXXX. The leased ended on XX/XX/XXXX. My wife and I decided we wanted to purchase the XXXX XXXX. I contacted XXXX XXXX two times in an attempt to acquire financing to purchase the vehicle with no response from XXXX XXXX, so I went to XXXX XXXX XXXX and secured financing and purchased the vehicle. Prior to contacting XXXX XXXX XXXX I had logged into my account with HondaFinancial.com in order to get a payoff amount on the XXXX XXXX. I printed out the statement and have a copy, the payoff amount according to Honda Financial on XX/XX/XXXX was {$10000.00}. I gave this amount to XXXX XXXX XXXX but I explained to XXXX XXXX XXXX that the payoff amount shown on HondaFinancial.com, {$10000.00} and the purchase amount on the lease document from XX/XX/XXXX were different. The purchase amount on the lease document show {$13000.00}. XXXX XXXX XXXX initiated a conference call between XXXX XXXX XXXX, Honda Financial and myself in order to clarify the purchase amount on the XXXX XXXX XXXX. Honda Financial confirmed the payoff amount to purchase the vehicle to be {$10000.00} as indicated on the HondaFinancial.com website. XXXX XXXX XXXX proceeded with the purchase with the payoff amount as indicated on the HondaFinancial.com website, completed the loan documents and sent a check to Honda Finance Exchange , Inc. in the amount of {$10000.00}. After the purchase was completed by XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX issued a Transfer of Vehicle Ownership and Registration document, a Bill of Sale and Odometer Disclosure Statement and the Certificate of Title to me in order to transfer ownership, title and registration in my wife and myself. The problem we have is the Bill of Sale has an incorrect amount for the sum paid for the vehicle. The Bill of Sale indicates the XXXX XXXX XXXX was purchased for the amount of {$13000.00}. This amount is incorrect as the amount XXXX XXXX XXXX paid to Honda Finance Exchange is {$10000.00}. I've called XXXX XXXX XXXX two times now, first on Monday XX/XX/XXXX and again on Friday XX/XX/XXXX to ask them to clear this up and indicate the correct amount paid for the XXXX XXXX XXXX and they refuse to cooperate. This is delaying my being able to transfer title and register the vehicle as I can not submit an incorrect document to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, it violates California Vehicle Codes Section 20 which states, " It is unlawful to use a false or fictitious name, or to knowingly make any false statement or knowingly conceal any material fact in any document filed with the Department of Motor Vehicles or the Department of the California Highway Patrol. '' Submitting this incorrect document may also violate California Penal code 118 as it relates to perjury. Honda Finance Exchange accepted the payoff amount of {$10000.00} as the final amount to purchase the XXXX XXXX XXXX without any further documentation to indicate otherwise and by Honda Finance Exchange accepting the payoff amount of {$10000.00} to purchase the XXXX XXXX XXXX that acknowledges by acceptance the true purchase amount of the vehicle and initiates a new and complete contract for the XXXX XXXX XXXX and makes null and void any other previous documents as it relates to purchase of the XXXX XXXX XXXX.

Getting a loan or lease

Vehicle loan or lease: Loan

Changes in terms mid-deal or after closing
Complaint: On Wednesday, XX/XX/XXXX I went to XXXX XXXX XXXX of XXXX to trade in my XXXX XXXX XXXX and purchase a XXXX XXXX. I was told I was not approved for the XXXX but was approved for a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I signed paperwork showing that my payments were $ XXXX for 72 months and 18 % interest. I left that night in a brand new car. I was not given my signed paperwork as the finance guy said they were going to still look for a better deal with a lower interest rate. I brought the car back to the dealership on Saturday, XX/XX/XXXX due to the tire pressure light coming on, black smudges on the seats and to pick up my paperwork. I was told the papers werent ready and that they would give me a call. A few days later a received a call on Wednesday XX/XX/XXXX to come in and get paperwork. Once I arrived I was told that they had gotten busy and they did not need me. I would receive a call on Friday. XX/XX/XXXX I received a text stating they did not need me that day. Saturday XX/XX/XXXX I received a text to come in that morning. Once I arrived to the dealership I was then approched by the finance guy who was handling my stuff and was told that I actually was never approved for the XXXX Civic that I have been in possession of for almost 2 weeks. If I was never approved WHY ON EARTH would you allow me to leave in the car and put 600 miles on it?! I asked why none of this had been discussed the entire time the dealership had been asking me to come in and then leave because they didn't need me? I was then told that they found me a reall good deal on a used XXXX XXXX XXXX. I said no I did not want another used car and that I would rather keep my XXXX XXXX and I wanted my down payment of {$800.00} back. I WAS TOLD NO I COULD NOT HAVE MY CAR BACK AND THAT I NEEDED TO LOOK AT THE USED CAR THEY WERE OFFERING. I looked at the car, and yes its very nice but still not what I came in for and felt like I was forced to take the deal because they could not give me my old car back. I was then told that my paperwork showing the XXXX payments of {$490.00} were a lie ... payments were actually almost {$600.00} a month. Payments on the used XXXX are {$510.00} a month, again not something I wanted. I was then told that they were giving me an extra warranty for the car free of charge. This was not the case, after having someone who used to work for XXXX review my paperwork, XXXX charged me an addiontial {$2500.00} on the loan for the said warranty. I AM SO UNHAPPY WITH THIS PLACE FORCING ME TO BUY SOMETHING I DIDN'T WANT.

Problem extending the lease
Complaint: I have been a client with American Honda finance for many years, I extended my lease to which I had auto pay set up for payments. I was never informed that they would be stopping to pull out the monthly payments. Because of this I incurred twice late payments since they stopped pulling out the payments twice once in XX/XX/2019 and XX/XX/2019. This has really negatively impacted me.

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted an online dispute with XXXX to remove a personal statement on my American Honda Finance account. This option to dispute the statement was available via the online dispute on their website. Om XX/XX/XXXX the dispute was closed and my updated XXXX and XXXX credit reports showed the entire positive account had been deleted. This in turn lowered my credit score. After finally getting in touch with a live rep in the dispute dept, I was told I would have to call American Honda in order to have it put back on my report. This is unfair since it was completely XXXX 's fault.
