Problem with rewards from credit card
Complaint: Around XX/XX/ 2018, I applied for the American Express Platinum card from the American Express company. After reading about the bonus restriction that I would not be able to receive any bonus if I have received a bonus Platinum Card from the past and I confirm that I have not receive any bonus Membership Rewards in the past with my one XXXX American Express Platinum from before. After further research, I found out that American Express also put in a safeguard and inform customer or potential customers that they may not be eligible for the new card member bonus. After successfully completed the application for the Platinum card, I did not see any warning and I can't see a reason why I would not be able to get the new card member bonus. Forward to today, XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted American Express about the new bonus and was informed that. " I see that the bonus offer on your card is showing declined on the account and the account notes state that you're not eligible for the signup offer for the card. '' There is no reason why I would not be able to receive the bonus. There was no abuse nor I have had the same product before. All purchases made on the card are legitimate and I did not breach the contract. I don't mind if I am clearly communicated that I am not eligible for the product but if not issuing bonus after I have receive and spend is misleading.

Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: I entered into a contract with XXXX ( web development company ) and funded a contract with the amount of {$5400.00}. Due to outside circumstances ( delays, poor performance ) we canceled the contract on XXXX. This was consulted by XXXX dispute team and American Express. The balance of the contract was {$2700.00} which we tried to recover on XXXX and via American Express dispute. After multiple attempts XXXX advised moving to arbitration ( AAA ) with an additional fee of {$290.00} and after a call to American Express on XX/XX/2018, by the customer rep on a recorded call they said not to pay the arbitration cost and American Express will handle the dispute. On XX/XX/2018, I was notified that we lost the dispute citing that the other party on XXXX paid for their portion of the arbitration. The funds in total were distributed to the other party due to the American Express rep. American Express needs to consult the XX/XX/2018 call recording with XXXX where he states that we should not pay the {$290.00} arbitration fee. We seek American Express to credit our account in the amount of {$2700.00} as it was under their advice on a recorded call from XX/XX/2018, that we did not enter into arbitration thereby losing the money we had in our escrow account. This is evidenced by the recorded call and the letter attached from American Express dated XX/XX/2018. We have now opened three disputes with American Express. American Express acknowledged on a recorded call I am in possession of that the call from XX/XX/XXXX exists and to seek 3rd party legal help. Please see attached documents for timeline and resolution from American Express that we dispute. From the previous dispute, American Express acknowledges that they " found we could have more clearly explained how the dispute process works. We apologize for any misunderstanding you may have experienced as a result of this matter I am glad this is a {$2700.00} teachable moment for American Express. If this is such a misunderstanding why will they not release the call to the CFPB and or myself as stated here, " Phone call recordings and/or transcripts, if available, are business records of American Express that can only be provided in response to a lawfully issued subpoena. " American Express knows that they offered the wrong advise even when point blank asking if we should pay the arbitration fee, they then said no on several calls not just the XX/XX/XXXX call. I have been a customer for 14 years, you lost me and everyone I know now. American Express references a call constantly as per the two previous complaints yet fails to realize and understand the call in which we spoke to a supervisor was after the cut off date for arbitration which is even shown in the documentation sent from XXXX to American Express for their dispute records.

Problem with rewards from credit card
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, the additional cardholder on my AMEX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX card applied for Global Entry and was charged {$100.00} by XXXX XXXX XXXX - XXXX, IN. This AMEX product offers a {$100.00} rebate for Global Entry once every four years. I researched the terms and conditions for this benefit that were readily available on my online AMEX portal. They are included below. These terms do not explicitly exclude the {$100.00} benefit for the additional cardholder. References to an eligible card and membership being per person, and a separate application must be completed for each individual imply that multiple cards and individuals are eligible, which would include my additional card member. Below are these benefit terms I can access in one click from my account. When I contested the lack of a {$100.00} rebate on XX/XX/XXXX, AMEX invoked other publicly available terms, which do indeed restrict the benefit from additional cardholders : https : //www.americanexpress.comXXXX However, these terms are two clicks from my account, and not as readily available. I clicked on benefit terms and thought I had the whole story. I spent almost an hour today ( XXXX XXXX ) chatting with four AMEX employeesId be happy to provide the chat transcriptand they refuse to honor this benefit or concede that the benefit terms I was presented with first ( one-click within my account ) should govern this benefit, instead relying on terms that were two clicks from my account and harder to find. I contend that this is a problematic business practice, that the original terms should govern this benefit, that their ambiguity on restricting the Global Entry benefit should be read to entitle me to {$100.00} from AMEX, and that this be fixed for future conscientious consumers who read the terms before using benefits. The same terms should be on all parts of the website. The terms as presented to me : Benefit Terms Fee Credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre Fee Credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre XXXX XXXX XXXX American Express Luxury Card Members are eligible to receive a statement credit every four years for the application fee for either Global Entry or TSA Pre when charged to an eligible Card. Card Members will receive a statement credit for the first program ( either Global Entry or TSA Pre ) to which they apply and pay for with their eligible Card regardless of whether they are approved for Global Entry or TSA Pre. However, Card Members can receive no more than one {$85.00} credit or {$100.00} credit, depending on which program the Card Member first applies for, every four years for an application fee charged to an eligible Card. American Express has no control over the application and/or approval process for Global Entry or TSA Pre, and does not have access to any information provided to the government by the Card Member or by the government to the Card Member. American Express has no liability regarding the Global Entry or TSA Pre programs. U.S. Customs and Border Protection ( CBP ) ( for Global Entry ) and U.S. Transportation Security Administration ( TSA ) ( for TSA Pre ) charge an application fee to process each respective application regardless of whether the Card Member 's application is approved. American Express will provide a statement credit for the application fee regardless of the decision made by CBP ( for Global Entry ) or TSA ( for TSA Pre ) but will not provide a statement credit for subsequent application fees charged to the same eligible Card within four years, even if the original application is rejected. Membership for Global Entry or TSA Pre is per person, and a separate application must be completed for each individual. For additional information on the Global Entry and TSA Pre programs, including information regarding the application and/or approval process and for a list of participating airlines and airports, as well as the full terms and conditions of the programs, please go to www.globalentry.gov for Global Entry and www.tsa.gov for TSA Pre. The Global Entry and TSA Pre programs are subject to change, and American Express has no control over those changes. The statement credit benefit applies to the Global Entry or TSA Pre programs only. Other program applications including, but not limited to, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX are not eligible for the statement credit benefit. Please allow up to 8 weeks after the qualifying Global Entry or TSA Pre transaction is charged to the eligible Card account for the statement credit to be posted to the Card account. American Express relies on accurate transaction data to identify eligible Global Entry and TSA Pre purchases. If you do not see a credit for a qualifying purchase on your eligible Card after 8 weeks, simply call the number on the back of your Card. Card Members are responsible for payment of all application charges until the statement credit posts to the Card account. To be eligible for this benefit, Card account ( s ) must be active through the time of statement credit fulfillment. Global Entry Fee Credit Option : Global Entry is a CBP program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk international travelers upon arrival in the United States. Global Entry membership also includes access to the TSA Pre program with no additional application or fee required. If a Card Member applies separately for TSA Pre with the same eligible Card, the TSA Pre application fee is not eligible for a statement credit. To receive the {$100.00} Global Entry statement credit, Card Members must pay for the {$100.00} Global Entry application fee with an eligible Card. Global Entry members can opt in to TSA Pre by entering their Global Entry membership number ( PASS ID ) in the " Known Traveler Number '' field each time a flight reservation is made on a participating airline. Alternatively, Card Members can add their Global Entry PASS ID to their frequent flyer profile ( s ) with the participating airline ( s ) and then ensure that their frequent flyer number is entered for each flight booking. If approved, membership into the Global Entry program is valid for five years and subject to the program 's terms and conditions. You must reapply for the Global Entry program every five years for continuous benefits. TSA Pre Fee Credit Option : TSA Pre is an intelligence-driven, risk-based program managed by TSA that allows low-risk travelers to experience faster, more efficient screening at participating U.S. airport checkpoints for domestic and international travel. The TSA Pre application program is a DHS Trusted Traveler program. TSA began accepting TSA Pre applications on Wednesday, XXXX XXXX, XXXX. Enrolling in TSA Pre does not guarantee selection for expedited screening each time a passenger travels. To receive the {$85.00} TSA Pre statement credit, Card Members must pay for the {$85.00} TSA Pre application fee with an eligible Card. If approved, Membership into the TSA Pre program is valid for five years and subject to the program 's terms and conditions.

Frequent or repeated calls
Complaint: An American Express collection person named XXXX at XXXX has repeated called me XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX - 3 times, XX/XX/XXXX - 2 times and XX/XX/XXXX - 3 times. He has also contacted phone numbers of relatives and people NOT related to me looking for me. He has called my grandmas XXXX line, which I have never lived at and is very inappropriate when it is not a relative. He contacted my mother 3 times. He contacted my husbands uncle, who is NOT related to me. This is borderline harassment at this point. He can call me or my husband as many times. But reaching out to people who are not my relatives is unacceptable and totally violates my privacy. This should not be acceptable!

Problem with balance transfer
Complaint: I applied for the Amex EveryDay card with the sole intention of transferring {$10000.00} upon approval since they were offering 0 % balance transfers and 0 % APR for 15 months. I thoroughly looked through the terms and conditions, and all applicable additional information online, found at the following two Amex websites : https : //www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/card/amex-everyday/ https : //www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/card-application/apply/prospect/terms/amex-everyday-credit-card/36502-10-0/? pznOfferCode=2USH-57UK9D-31LD-SZW # FeeTable There is no mention on the website about a maximum amount you are allowed to transfer with the exception of " You may not request a balance transfer amount less than {$100.00} and the total amount of balance transfer request ( s ) must not exceed your credit limit. '' Seeing that I was approved for {$15000.00}, I should be eligible for a $ XXXX balance transfer. However, they told me that their policy only allows for a total transfer of {$5000.00}. This is very misleading. Furthermore, when I was on the phone with Amex, they told me they could up the balance transfer to {$7500.00} because it was their current policy. I told them that still wasn't the $ XXXX I was planning to transfer. When I spoke to a supervisor telling her this, she said that the {$7500.00} offer was revoked after I was approved for the credit card. XXXX was the name of the supervisor, and she put me on hold to review the terms and conditions. When she came back, she told me that I was absolutely right, but they weren't going to do anything about it immediately. At the very least, I'd want to transfer the $ XXXX that I planned. However, because Amex was misleading in their terms and conditions can not do that with this card. I would have applied for another credit card that honored their terms and conditions but having applied for this card hurt my credit score. I don't feel comfortable getting another card with another credit company because my score has already taken a hit.
