Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I was approved for an American Express ( Delta SkyMiles ) credit card.
On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email from this AmEx credit card offering a bonus miles promotion if I opened additional cards for family ( aged 13+ ). The online form to add a card member under did not ask for any info except for the name of the new card member. I only entered my son 's name. Other fields were all optional ( email, SSN, DOB ) so I did not provide any other information. ( See pdf screen shots. ) The card request was approved and I received the credit card for my teenager son in XX/XX/XXXX.
Then I get a notice from my ex-husband that he has access to this new AmEx credit card. He can see the account on his XXXX credit report. He knows the balance, due date and account info. Please note that I have been divorced for over 5 years. I have no credit cards with my ex-husband. Somehow AmEx accessed my personal information, violated my privacy, and breached security.
When I called American Express, they transferred me to their AmEx credit bureau. On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with XXXX XXXX ( service rep from XXXX XXXX, XXXX ) who said he could not help me because it's not my credit report. That my ex-husband would have to call them.

Problem during payment process
Complaint: On or about XX/XX/2019, an auto debit was made from my checking account for the full account balance of {$7500.00} instead of {$100.00}. This money was not available in my account. Instead, the American Express credit card company took my paycheck and my entire overdraft protection funds. As such, I was unable to pay my rent or meet my expenses for the month. I called them immediately and they said they would reverse the charge. They did the next day but two days later, they took the money from my account against without my authorization. I called Amex to ask for a payment refund. They agreed, closed the dispute, but never sent a check.
I called them again and made the same request. They said they would refund it in 7 days. 30 days went by and again, they closed the dispute and never refunded the money. Once I saw this, I called them again and asked where was my payment refund. I explained that this was my paycheck. This time they agreed to send it via wire transfer. They said it would take 48 hours. A week went by and again no refund. I called again and they said they were mailing a check. No check ever came. They keep saying the funds are being sent back, but they keep closing the dispute. I need my money back as this has caused my family hardship.

Complaint: Hello, I recently opened an Amex Blue Preferred cash back card, which offers cash back on a percentage of cash purchases. I have, however, received at least three different explanations regarding when I will be able to see whether certain purchases are eligible for cash back rewards. As is typical with cash-back cards, credit card companies will offer cash back only when merchants code the purchases in a particular way. Some merchants are affiliates, vendors, or licensees who do not code purchases as consumers might expect, the result being that no points/cash is awarded the buyer. Because of the ambiguity, I have diligently monitored my Amex account to see whether my purchases will earn the proper rewards. I can not, however, see whether the cash back will be earned as I expect. I have spoken to several Amex phone agents and received different explanations as to how/when I will earn my rewards and when I might see them. I spent an hour on the phone speaking with Amex agents/management, explaining my concerns and expressing my disbelief that under the circumstances they are nonetheless demanding I pay a {$95.00} annual fee. While I am ordinarily not averse to paying such a fee, I am averse to paying a fee for a card I may not want to keep. The only way I will keep the card is if it is worth it to me, in terms of cash back earned. Because I can not know the amount of cash back earned until I actually PAY my first statement, I may be stuck paying an annual fee for a card that is of no real use to me personally. Today, I spoke with an agent ( XXXX ), a supervisor ( XXXX ), and a manager ( XXXX # XXXX ). None of them seemed to adequately consider my position ; that is, that I dont want to pay an annual fee for a credit card that does not benefit me. Yet, they all told me that the annual fee can not be waived. XXXX did agree to look into it, but I have little confidence that will happen. In short, it seems Amex expects consumers will pay an annual fee BEFORE they know whether the card benefits them in the way the average consumer might expect -- rewards on purchases. Amexs practice appears like a BAIT AND SWITCH, and I hope you will help me resolve this matter.

Complaint: American Express would call me all the time and mail me all the time. I have disputed the debt amount but they persisted The man was always the same but with a thick unintelligible XXXX accent.
Then I decided to hear him out.
He proposed a settlement. I decided to take it.
I sent the check. They cashed the check but then put it in XXXX that I owe the entire amount. I have repeatedly disputed this debt but got tired of the man calling me so I accepted the settlement

Complaint: I have requested XXXX and associated companies no longer contact me via work where they have been harassing other employees, frequent phone calls after XXXX. They are now contacting FAMILY MEMBERS that live out of state that they have no way of even knowing these people 's phone numbers. Complaint: American Express Blue Cut My Credit Line From {$5000.00} to {$2400.00} For no good reason other then I happen to use my card a little more in a 2 Month periot then in had in the Passed .only to do work on my new condo This I belive Is a discrimination of my credit line and my personal life.
By doing this American Express has cause my credit score to drop 60 Points ...
Please note I have made my mountly payments on time all the time other then one time when my secetery used the wrong bank to make a payment was returned I noticing the problum I immediately rectified the mistake then made another payment the very next day.
I will always cotunnue to make my monthly payment on time all the time And be a loyal card member to bad American Express Blue cand do that in return ...
Point of information : I have double to trippiled my required monthly payment more then once and for this Im rewarded by having my credit line cut..
Not Fair..
I have closed this account but however the dropping of my credit line still remained on my credit reporting history causing my balance to credit line to go over 30 % and its because of that my credit score to drop Big ...

Complaint: I applied and was approved for the American Express Delta Gold Business card on XX/XX/XXXX. The terms under which I applied were a welcome bonus of XXXX Delta Skymiles for reaching {$3000.00} in purchases within 4 months which I did complete on XX/XX/XXXX. Weeks passed and the XXXX miles never posted so I contacted them via online chat on XX/XX/XXXX and they opened an investigation into the matter. I never heard back so I did another online chat on XX/XX/XXXX and was told I wouldn't receive the bonus " due to incentive bonus offer misuse history ''. I had never been warned/notified of this before/during/after the application process. I feel I don't have a history of misuse with Amex and I'm frustrated that they haven't lived up to their end of the deal when they approved me for their card.

Complaint: A pair of shoes were purchased from the merchant, " XXXX '' on XX/XX/2018 for the amount of {$720.00} using my American Express " Blue Cash Everyday '' credit card ending in XXXX. The shoes purchased from the merchant were falsely advertised as brand new when, in fact, they were used and extremely worn, defaced and damaged by another customer prior to purchase by me. When purchasing the shoes, the merchant did not allow the " packaging '' to be opened as they stated that the shoes were " brand new '' ( a complete lie ). After paying for the shoes at the store, the item was taken back home when the shoe packaging was opened and unwrapped. What was inside were damaged shoes that were nowhere near brand new. Upon discovering this, multiple ( 4 total ) attempts at returning the shoes back to the original store of purchase were made. In all 4 attempts, the store refused to accept any responsibility for the damaged shoes that were sold to me. Accordingly, as I could not resolve this issue with the store themselves, a dispute case was opened up with American Express to get the money back from this store/merchant. From the beginning, clear evidence was provided to the merchant in the form of photos taken and a written statement showing and describing the condition of the shoes. After a total of 3 dispute cases opened up with XXXX, they refused to assist in this matter any further and took the side of the merchant which essentially scammed me in this purchase. It is disappointing, but least surprising, to see XXXX side with a fraudulent store/merchant when it comes to cases like this. Nevertheless, I would like to have my {$720.00} refunded back to me from this purchase as this merchant knowingly and willingly defrauded me on this purchase by misstating the condition of the item. Not only is this is highly unethical, it is also illegal as the merchant deliberately and knowingly falsely advertised this item and refused to refund my money when caught. Due to the abundance of evidence given to XXXX regarding this illegal conduct by this merchant, a full refund of this charge is warranted and expected. Timestamps are also available on the photographs taken ( showing the horrendous condition of the shoes ) to further prove that these photos are legitimate and valid as they were taken shortly after purchase.

Complaint: Purchased a prepaid card for my grandson for XXXX. On XXXX XX/XX/2019 he ( XXXX years old ) attempted to purchase an online game for download. His computer did NOT have enough GB for download. I have been attempting to resolve this issue for 2 months now. They want to deal with my XXXX year old grandson, I am the adult, his account is attached to mines, he gets his money from me transferring funds to him. They can see this in the system. However, 2 months later I still don't have my money.
