Complaint: On XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX I made a Donation to XXXX to a party to build the wall XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, CA of {$80.00}, They took out an extra XXXX and XXXX returned the {$12.00} back into my account. Later they asked me did I want a RFUND of the XXXX dollars, I said yes. XXXX returned the {$80.00} after I closed my SERVE account. AMERICAN EXPRESS is refusing to give me my Money. I closed the SERVE ACCOUNT because AMERICAN EXPRESS went into my Account on XX/XX/XXXX and took out {$79.00} and {$98.00} for XXXX, and I asked them why they did that : I previously had paid XXXX {$39.00} for a one year service protection for my computer. I have all my receipts and emails from them. But for whatever reasons, somebody went back into my account and tried to recharge me, and I disputed the charges and closed the account because, I felt something not right. After I closed the SERVE ACCOUNT XXXX returned my XXXX dollars back into my SERVE ACCOUNT. AMERICAN EXPRESS knows this and they DO NOT WANT TO GIVE ME MY MONEY. THEY are outright HOlDING MY MONEY, they said they were sending me a check in the mail. As of today : XX/XX/XXXX. I have yet to receive my {$80.00}. I had this account with this for over three years and never had a problem, and all of a sudden I had this problem, and they keep putting me on holds and hanging up on me ABout my Own Money.

Complaint: I recently asked my cousin to take me off as an authorized user on his American Express card. All was fine until I recently got an update on my credit karma showing creditor companies saying I am still on the account. I called American Express as Did my cousin and American Express had told us I am no longer on the account. I just need this updated as soon as possible to help fix up my credit and make it accurate.

Complaint: Applied for American Express Card XXXX XXXX card in XX/XX/2018 ( believe it was XX/XX/XXXX ).
I called Amex ahead of applying for the card since this looked to be a new XXXX product.
I was advised by an American Express Representative named XXXX that this card was a new product and she reassured me that I was eligible for this promotion.
American Express failed to honor the promotion after making the minimum spend within the first three months. I made {$3000.00} in charges within the 90 day period as per the offer.
Upon contacting XXXX I was advised the promotion was never added to my card and they were not going to honor providing the XXXX XXXX Points even though I made the minimum spend as per their offer.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX my teenage son and I went to get cash from a XXXX machine using his Bluebird Card. He inserted the card into the machine and requested {$40.00}. The machine generated an error code and then reset with no cash dispensed. He tried a second time and this time it worked. The women ahead of him also had issues with the machine before he did. When we got home, I looked and he had two {$40.00} transactions debited. We immediately contacted the credit card company the they started an investigation. After two weeks of not hearing, I called and they told me that they were not credited him back {$40.00} for the first transaction. No cash was dispensed for the first transaction that ended in an error message at the XXXX machine.

Trouble getting, activating, or registering a card
Complaint: While filing my taxes, I did not have my bank account number, so I chose to have my federal tax return loaded onto an American Express Serve card. I forgot to include my apartment number when entering my shipping address during the registration process for American Express Serve. This was on XX/XX/2019. I should have received my card by mail within 7 - 10 days. Around the 7th day I realized I forgot to include my apartment number. I immediately tried calling their customer service number and was greeted with an automated system. I was able to enter the last four digits of my social and in return I was informed by the automated voice that I needed to activate my card and then prompted me to enter the 15-digit card number, which I do not have. I tried updating my address on their website, but since the first card is still considered an " active order '' I was unable to update my address. It shows a message saying they are unable to process my request at this time and to call the customer service number. Without my card, the customer service number is useless to me.The card 's estimated arrival date was XX/XX/2019. Today 's date is XX/XX/2019 and I am still trying to figure out how to get my federal refund of {$6200.00}. I can log into the website and app and see that my money is there, I can also see the last four digits of the account number but am unable to do anything until I activate my card. I even asked my post office how long they keep " undeliverable '' mail and I was told it gets returned to the sender almost immediately. I need to talk to a real person from American Express Serve, not an automated system. I have searched and searched and have found no solution!

Complaint: Hi, my dispute goes back over a year which I am trying to get this resolved and it keeps getting pushed and not resolved by American Express, I made 7 orders with XXXX all for the same amount of {$2400.00}, after XXXX shipped the orders XXXX requested the shipping company to return the items to XXXX, therefor the items were never delivered to me but instead delivered back to XXXX, but here started the problem that XXXX didn't refund me for these orders, when I tried to dispute some were approved while the last one keeps getting closed since American Express sees identical charges refunded so they consider this as a refund for the disputed charge which in fact is a different charge which was never refunded neither by XXXX nor by American Express, as many times as I tried to explain that I kept getting denied for that reason, my last dispute Inquiry Ref. No. : XXXX I actually got a letter dated XX/XX/2019 from American Express saying that they closed the dispute in my favor, but to my shock I never got a refund for this charge, this is not acceptable that American Express refuses to resolve this once and for all

Complaint: I have been a long-time American Express card holder with an exemplary credit standing.
I have two cards that earn Membership Rewards. In January, I made some large catering purchases which earned me Membership Rewards points, and made full payment soon after.
Today ( XX/XX/XXXX), I tried redeeming some of my Membership Rewards points, only to see this on the screen when I tried to submit : " This action will not be completed at this time because your account is currently being reviewed to make sure all eligible purchases meet qualifying criteria. '' What's critical, is that these points were Available points, which by American Express 's Terms and Conditions, mean they are fully available for me to use. In fact, American Express has a pre-Available status for points called Pending, where they are presumably reviewed and held prior to being Available, thereby proving Available points actually are available points.
I contacted via chat Amex today to ask for a status or know when I could use the points I earned and was entitled to use, and both the initial agent and the supervisor refused to provide me with any information or escalate this matter internally. The supervisor even confirmed there was nothing unusual with my account that he could see that would warrant an inability to use the points I earned.
** I am asking for American Express to expedite and complete within 7 days any " review '' of my Membership Rewards points, and make the points that were earned and are Available, actually available so I can transfer them to a hotel partner. If I don't have all the Available points today actually available at that time, Amex should be investigated for refusing to run and honor their reward program as advertised..
Because of the 30 minutes I've invested in chatting with two Amex representatives, I refuse to waste any more of my time since it is clear the company is structurally unresponsive -- plus there is nothing I can add to any discussion, as Amex has already reviewed and has full access to my accounts anyway.
I could have used a card with a competitor of Amex who has a similar reward program and honestly provides points to be used without this shady " review '' Amex is apparently randomly doing to prevent points from being used as a customer has earned -- especially once those points have already passed a lengthy review process and are in fact showing as Available.

Complaint: In XX/XX/2018 I received notice my payment due for XX/XX/2018 had jumped to {$540.00} which was almost {$320.00} more than what I had been paying the prior months. This was quite frustrating however I managed to figure out how to pay before it impacted my credit. My fiance was without work so I was struggling to maintain all payments and keep my credit from being impacted. During this time of trying to figure out how to make the XXXX payment I then received another notice of my payment due for XXXX which jumped all the way to more than {$1500.00}. As anyone can imagine this was a huge increase and if I struggled to pay the the additional {$320.00} I would not be able to figure this one out. I immediately reached out to American Express and asked what was going on as the payments had increased significantly. They indicated the amount due was because my pay over time balance was over the limit. I asked them what the limit was as I had received absolutely no detail on this limit and they advised {$4600.00}. I had not recently charged almost {$2000.00} so I asked for an explanation in which nobody could explain. I asked what assistance I could get as there was no way I could pay this by the required date to keep it from impacting my credit and I was told there was nothing. This was very disturbing. I have had a stellar payment history with them and all my other credit card companies. This was an unfair practice to a consumer. During my call I was also told - that I should have read my statement as it is in there. For those who pay online you typically never go in to the detail of the statement. This information needs to be transparent to consumers, not embedded and hidden. I would like to request the late payment for the XXXX payment be removed from my credit. I was able to pay the payment however I was 4 days over the 30 day mark. I did all I could to try to resolve however the company offered no assistance, was unwilling to take ownership in the misleading information, and seemed to truly not care. Not only did it hit my credit two months later I get a notice that they are lowering my pay over time limit to {$3100.00} because of credit score dropping - which was a result of their lack of informing a consumer. I also had another credit card company drop my limit from {$5800.00} to {$2100.00} because of this one late payment. I find this to be horribly unfair to consumer and they must change their way of how they handle this type of credit card with pay over time balance. I would hate to have another consumer in this position who truly could not pay.

I provided a copy of my bank statement showing the payment and I provided them with the payment transaction number provided by the bank. Complaint: I was contacted by XXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Massachusetts XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX ext XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX XXXX at XXXX which is my employer telephone number.
I advised Ms XXXX that she conacted me at my employment number and she should stop contacting me at this number for the American Express Debt. My employer telephone is accessible to other co workers and the phone recorded.
Ms XXXX contacted again on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX and left a voice message in regards to debt.
Ms XXXX contacted the third time on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX in regards to this same debt at my employment number as tried to collect on this American Express Debt. Advised her again to stop contacting me at my employment telephone in regards to this debt and I will have an attorney contact her.
My phone is monitored by my employer and all incoming calls are screened for customer effectiveness. I am afraid this call will be listened as a result.

Complaint: Receive around 14 calls a day from them. Spoke with a gentleman named XXXX at extension XXXX he advised they had already sent out statements and proof of debt what more did I want. Just pay the debt. I have not received one thing from this collection agency, not even a letter showing they have a right to collect. XXXX was very rude and abusive towards me. I spoke with my son and advised him this debt did not belong to me. He helped me fill an identity theft report and I sent a letter to this collection agency today along with my FTC identity theft report.

Complaint: I applied for an Amex Business Gold Rewards card on XX/XX/18. I was approved later that same day.
The application was advertised with a sign-up bonus offer of XXXX points for spending {$5000.00} within 3 months.
I received the card, activated it and spent over {$5000.00} within the aforementioned period. I reached out to Amex today as I had not received the sign-up bonus, and told the bonus was denied.
I note the following : 1. I have never held this card product before, 2. I met the minimum spend as per the advertised offer, 3. I did not receive a " pop-up '' upon application indicating to me that the sign-up bonus offer was being denied, 4. At no point did Amex proactively tell me that they were denying the sign-up bonus.
Based on this information, I made the minimum spend requirement and expected the sign-up bonus. Only upon inquiring why the sign-up bonus had not yet posted, was I told that it was being denied.
I consider this a bait & switch action on Amex 's part.
