Complaint: I have had a personal American Express and a Business American Express ( OPEN ) since XX/XX/XXXX. This complaint is about the Business American Express. I used the OPEN for my XXXX as revolving cash for several years. I had balances over {$50000.00} at times. In XX/XX/XXXX, the balance was over {$25000.00}. By XX/XX/XXXX, the balance had dropped to under {$1000.00}. In XX/XX/XXXX, American Express notified me that they were cancelling my " pay as you go '' ( revolving ) and lowering my limit immediately. They claimed it was due to negative credit on my credit report. However, this was not true. There was no negative credit and my credit score was consistent. In fact, I refinanced a {$180000.00} mortgage in XX/XX/XXXX with no problem. We had just opened a big project and this immediately paying off a big balance ( about {$25000.00} ) was problematic. I called American Express and they suggested that I go on a payment plan. When the payment plan was complete, my card would be good to continue use. I agreed. I made 100 % of the payments on time during the payment plan. However, American Express cancelled the card during the payment plan. When the payment plan was complete, American Express demanded the remaining balance of about {$7200.00}. I had not idea this was coming. American Express had unilaterally reduced the credit line, unilaterally cancelled the card, and unlaterally called it due to no reason. I asked to simply continuing paying the $ XXXX/month and the balance would be retired in 9 months. They said NO. I wrote a letter to the president of the American Express. The executive office called me and told me there would do NOTHING to help. Note that I had ALWAYS made payments as agreed on the both cards ; there was NO problem with my credit. I simply want to retire the debt and move on. Since then, I have received harassing calls from American Express. American Express employee, XXXX XXXX, threatened to turn over the account to outside collections. XXXX XXXX is going to call the personal account fully due and turn it over to collections as well. He promised to " ruin my credit ''. Note that both the personal card and the business card have been paid as agreed always. This seems completely unnecessary. I am willing to pay. I just need a few months. I have had relationships with many mortgage companies and other credit cards for over 25 years and have maintained perfect credit. American Express purposefully ruining my credit is highly damaging to our real estate business as we are dependent on credit to purchase properties.

However, they continue to plague me with calls, jeopardizing my employment for an overdue payment and would not provide with an answer to my request for a payment deferment on my minimum payment due to XXXX XXXX on my credit card accounts. I contacted American Express and was told that this is an internal issue due to an update and they expect to have it resolved within 72 hours. I asked why a credit could not be issued, as they were aware of the problem, and the only answer I could get is that they were " truly sorry ''. It was mentioned during the call that many card holders were affected. I believe this issue should be looked into by the CFPB.

Complaint: To whom it may concern : This complaint is in regards to a promotional offer for an Starwood Card offered by American Express. An offer was sent to me in XX/XX/XXXX that I qualified for that would allow me to receive XXXX Starwood Preferred Guest ( SPG ) points for {$1000.00} spending for each authorized user I add to my personal card account, up to four, for a maximum of XXXX SPG points potentially awarded, starting in XXXX of this year. I added my wife, my father and mother, and my sister to this card in XX/XX/XXXX, and met the appropriate spending to each card inXX/XX/XXXX. I however only received the bonus for my wife, and not the bonuses for my father, mother or my sister 's authorized card use. I have contacted American Express on four separate occasions ; three times using the online agent feature in XXXX through XXXX, last onXX/XX/XXXX, and once by telephone XX/XX/XXXX. After my second online agent discussion, I was told my concerns would be forwarded to their " rewards team '' After today 's online and telephone discussion, I was again told that my concerns will be forwarded for investigation. No timeline was given other than weeks. I have met the terms and conditions for this offer - I do n't think any agent has expressed to me otherwise that I have not. I expressed concerns that previous promises of escalation and investigation have not lead to results. I have not received any direct correspondence about any investigation from anyone.

Complaint: I have an American Express card ( cardholder for about 35 years ) and it has 3 cards attached to it. One of the card holders ( Card # 3 ), I noticed charges from an XXXX-related internet service from the State of Washington, in the amount of {$14.00} for several months. The card holder denied ordering this service ( I know they would never use such a service ), and they called XXXX to inquire/cancel the charge. The charge - despite being cancelled/disputed - continued to hit Card # 3 's American Express card. So I did the next best thing. I cancelled the XXXX card # 3. Today, I saw this totally bogus charge of {$14.00} hit my OWN card ( Card # 1 ). IMHO this can only happen if this is an inside operation between XXXX and XXXX. Here is the bogus charge which hits every XX/XX/XXXX of the month : XXXX XXXX XXXX {$14.00} State of Washington.

Complaint: Hello, Im XXXX XXXX and Im having issues with American Express. On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I noticed fraud on my credit card. I contacted American Express to report the fraud of XXXX and the started their investigation. About XXXX weeks later I received a check and letter for XXXX and they said theyve investigated the fraud and they refunded me with a check for the full amount. Well one year later they said my soon to be ex wife contacted American Express saying the charges were valid which I find funny because she received half of the money. My wife did this just to get back at me knowing the card was in my name and it would go on my credit. Because of the fraud I got a new card and stopped using American Express because of the fraud. I read online that American Express has 90 days or two billing cycles to resolve the issue or remove it. Well they did resolve it with the check they sent me in XXXX of XXXX and all the fraud was resolved on that date. Im hoping you can help me with this because being XXXX I feel there not following the law and theyre taking advantage of me. Thank you, XXXX XXXX

Complaint: During the summer, I deposited {$750.00} in this American Express Serve account from XXXX XXXX checking account. In XX/XX/XXXX of this year. I got an email stating my account was being permanently suspended. I could then no longer look at my account on line. So Not sure of balance I called them and was told the account was suspended due to " funding source. '' He would Not explain any further. I then cut my card and wrote to their main office in XXXX XXXX asking for explanation. Received nothing. I believe I had a few hundred dollars on the account. But had n't looked for a time. I called again today and got that it was a fraudulent deposit from XXXX XXXX. After thinking about it, I had automatic deposits of {$75.00} for several years. And, coincidentally, I had to open a new account with XXXX during this time. So, the only thing I can think of is one of those autimatic deposits must have been made from the closed account. What a Poor way to handle a good customer ... ..IF that is what happened, I made a mistake ... .NOT FRAUDULENT EVENT. They did n't even check with me like most businesses. That was Just wrong!!! And, I do n't know If that is What happened!!! And, They said I have No money. How do I know that They difnt keep it for FEES. They Just cut me off and added on the phone today " You may never apply for an American Express card '' who would want to!!!

Complaint: I received a prepaid reward American Express credit card by purchasing fuel for aircraft that I flew. In XXXX 2016 we loaded the card with what are called " XXXX XXXX '' bringing the total amount loaded to {$930.00}. The card is offered by XXXX XXXX which is a fixed base operation throughout the United States. Since I had not received a new card, I thought perhaps it was lost in the mail. Concerned I checked the website and saw that the balance was still on the card. I began calling American Express to let them know that I had not received an updated card and after finally getting through, the American Express representative told me that since the card was expired I could not get a new card and I would have to forfeit my funds. It was apparent that the rep did not have knowledge of how this particular card works so I explained that the funds do not expire and that we can continue to load money onto the cards whenever we receive XXXX XXXX. The rep told me I was not entitled to the funds on my cards and for me to check the terms and conditions. His answer was without a doubt, ludicrous as I, as well as my wife and many other pilots, have had multiple AE cards in the past from purchasing fuel from XXXX XXXX and never had a problem. I checked AE 's Rules, Regulations and Disclaimers and there is nothing stated that the cardholder forfeit funds that were loaded onto the card. Additionally, the card clearly states that the funds do not expire. See attached documentation.

Complaint: I 've had an American Express XXXX XXXX XXXX account for about a year now. I rarely use it. Only to store funds in. Recently I linked an external account to the american express account for withdrawals in and out of the bank since this account does not come with a card. I initiated a withdrawal from the account and I 'm thinking it went fine until a week later I check my account. My funds were never transferred they were reversed for some odd reason.I called the bank 3 times back to back. The first time I was telling the CSR my account information, then suddenly I got hung up on. The 2nd time CSR put me on hold to be transferred to a different department ... got hung up on again. The 3rd time I was speaking to a CSR after being told that I would get a call back, I got hung up on for a 3rd time. So I 'm highly furious with their customer service. They 're holding {$380.00} XXXX and will NOT give me a reason why. My account is n't frozen or anything that I know of. I have n't received any emails stating there 's an issue with my account. I have contacted the Federal Reserve because this is highly unacceptable. I even tried closing the account and requesting a withdrawal. They 're refusing to close my account or allow me to have access to my money. I attempted to close it twice already and my request keeps being denied.

Dear Sir or Madam : I am appealing a rejected dispute on my card, & another dispute that seems ignored. AMERICAN EXPRESS conclusion is wrong. I contacted AMERICAN EXPRESS various times, sending the request via mail & online. I was given a bunch of different dispute numbers for this same issue yet my balance never changed. The wording of their responses didnt match my requests. Perhaps they didnt understand. I never receive the {$680.00} in adjustments. All I got were my old missing statements but it isnt much use for me now, other than to notice all of these fees billed due to not receiving the statements. I didnt receive any statements from XXXX since I moved. This dispute is for credits towards those months of being over-billed. I am seeking adjustments for multiple fees charged per month, as not receiving statements caused my bill to increase. The minimum payment amount also skyrocketed because of it. Ive reviewed all of the transactions within the time frame when I did not receive statements. Those fees billed which are pending credit are listed below. My current balance is {$6600.00}. New credits have n't been applied since I disputed. Transactions dates & amounts : XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$37.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$86.00} ( In XXXX the interest was lower at the rate of 18.49 % ), XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$86.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX $ XXXX {$38.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$87.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$29.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$38.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$91.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$31.00}. The following 6 transactions arent listed in the statement but are shown in the inquiry area under the account services tab and in the open a billing dispute choice ( screenshot attached ) : XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$91.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$12.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$9.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$0.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$0.00}, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$3.00} ( On XXXX/XXXX/XXXX my prime rate increased from 4.00 % to 4.25 %. The interest increased up to a rate of 18.99 % ( prime 4.25 % ) + 14.74 % ), XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$24.00}. Totals : {$680.00}. Its been a difficult process requesting this credit. A response mentions the " prime rate '' saying that it cant be changed which is fine. I wouldve liked the rate to not have been affected but if that cant go back to how it was originally ; I only ask for the credits mentioned. I received another response regarding a Foreign Transaction dispute which makes no sense. ____________________________________________________ In addition, Ive disputed a MERCHANT transaction that totals {$2400.00} for service not received. Dispute Reference Number : XXXX. I submitted documentation consisting of statements, detailed explanation, & specifying all of the transactions with the initial dispute to AMERICAN EXPRESS. Then a month later instead of receiving my fair resolution, I received another letter from AMERICAN EXPRESS asking for everything I had already submitted the first time ( with my dispute which I know was received ). Ive waited 7 weeks/51 days yet nothing has been done besides the mailing of a generic reply. Describing the events surrounding MERCHANT claim : The MERCHANT didnt permit the use of the services which I paid for in advance because theyre saying it expired. Never was an expiration ever mentioned by the MERCHANT when I paid. I contacted the Merchant in good faith but they dont want to cooperate nor honor the services. If I want to use their services they rather have me pay again to earn more money. While what I paid for remains unused. The fair resolution is to receive the {$2400.00} back. As its being billed in exchange for nothing. Transactions dates & amounts with specific statement appeared on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$500.00} On XXXX XXXX, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$130.00} On XXXX XXXX, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$630.00} On XXXX XXXX, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$630.00} On XXXX XXXX, XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$630.00} On XXXX XXXX. Complaint: This is the complaint I had lodged on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX : I spent {$25000.00} using my American Express XXXX XXXX card in XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. American Express should have credited XXXX points to my XXXX XXXX account and reported to XXXX the amount spent with the card. American Express reported only {$4000.00} as the amount spent to XXXX XXXX. It did n't credit the miles to my XXXX XXXX account nor did it report the dollar spent in XXXX and XXXX which amounts to more than {$21000.00}. I called to XXXX XXXX to inquire. XXXX asked me to contact American Express. I have contacted American express four times and one of them I conferenced in XXXX XXXX. I have spent more than five hours following on this matter. American Express finally realized there is an issue. But, so far nothing has been done. I have attached evidence of my spending and also evidence of the amount not showing on XXXX XXXX side. The company responded on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX stating the miles has been credited to my XXXX account in XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX respectively. However, the miles do n't reflect in my XXXX account. Nor does it reflect the dollars spent on the American Express XXXX XXXX XXXX on XXXX side. As I have stated earlier, there is a system problem in transmitting the information to XXXX. The earnings show on my XXXX statement. But, it does n't reflect in my XXXX account. I have talked to XXXX and it has n't received these transactions from XXXX. The problem is XXXX ca n't handle issues and it is feeding misinformation to the consumers. I have attached skymiles statement from XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX, XXXX for record.

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I became very ill and had to take a leave of absence from my job and move in with my family so they could help care for me. I called American Express to notify them of this sudden change in my life to see if I could work out a payment plan with them. I had automatic payments set up to take care of the remaining balance over a period of 6 months. I was surprised to receive a letter in XX/XX/XXXX informing me that my account had been closed due to non-payment. The customer service representative I had spoken to originally had not marked my account for graduated payments or set up the automatic debit as agreed. I ended up taking care of the remaining balance, but American Express would not re-open my account or take ownership for their CSR 's mistake. To this day, my credit report states that my account is somehow still open, but that it was also closed on XX/XX/XXXX. My credit report also inaccurately shows that my account was 120 days late between XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX. I was on a payment plan at that time, made every payment on time, and met all the requirements of that payment plan by XX/XX/XXXX, so there is no reason for that to be on my credit report.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX, XXXX I made two payments to American Express Platinum in the amounts of $ A and $ B respectively. They have acknowledge receipt of those payments on those dates. Unfortunately the later payment was credited to the wrong account by my error. On XXXX XXXX I recognized the error and called American Express to correct the matter and ask that the latter payment be transferred to the correct account. American Express assured me the matter would be corrected within 48 hrs. On XXXX XXXX it had not been done. On XXXX XXXX I was denyed use of my card. I checked on the account and determined that the $ B credit had not been credited to my account so I called again to ask that the transfer be done and was assured that it would be corrected. On XXXX XXXX American Express called and demanded a payment to bring the account current and indicated that I would contunue to be denyed use of the card if I did not. I explained that I had made a payment and was trying to get it credited to the account but was not getting any help from American Express to rectify the matter. I explained the matter to the representative, they acknowledged receipt of the funds and again told me that the matter would be rectified within 48 hrs. and that notes had been made in the file to that effect. I called American Express on XXXX XXXX and was told the matter was still pending but had been submitted for approval on XXXX XXXX and should be corrected within 48 hrs. I called American Express on XXXX XXXX and have now been told that the submission on XXXX XXXX was denied because the representative did not use the correct procedure and that it will take another 48 hrs after a submission to get the matter resolved. Notwithstanding that I made the payment on XXXX XXXX I am now being denied use of my card and auto payments are being returned to the vendors.
