Complaint: I had a balance with Amex of {$2900.00}. I submitted a payment in the amount of {$500.00} and they ran it as {$5000.00}, which is over {$2000.00} more than I even owe them. When I contacted them through chat, XXXX XXXX was unwilling to provide me the information to ensure that they fix the system error that causes them to take money that is not owed to them. I have never before been allowed by any other credit card company to pay an amount that is MORE than what I owed. They kept my money for 48 hours and were unwilling to even give me back the {$10.00} I spent to transfer money immediately from my XXXX so that I would not be overdrafted from my checking account. This conversation took place between XXXX XXXX EDT on Monday, XX/XX/19.

Complaint: I found out that I am being sued by American Express through their counsel, XXXX XXXX XXXX. I contacted XXXX with XXXX XXXX to discuss settlement options on the account in XX/XX/2019. XXXX agreed that American Express would settle my account for {$10000.00} and the remaining balance on the account would be forgiven. At that time, XXXX told me to contact a fourth party, named XXXX. XXXX works for XXXX, a collection agency used by American Express ( as it was explained to me ). XXXX said I had to pay XXXX the settlement amount. Despite misgivings, I have XXXX my debut card number. My bank would not approve such a high purchase and denied the charge request.
XXXX told me that XXXX would contact me with payment instructions for my account. That was the last I spoke to anyone from American Express. If I call them, and I have called both several times each, they will not answer my calls.
I believe that XXXX XXXX broke our verbal contract because they will not allow me to make payments on my account, not answered.my phone calls. I also believe they lied to me regarding the terms of my account settlement for less than owed.
I ended up having to make a payment to try to get the account paid off before a judgement is placed on me of XXXX

Complaint: As of XX/XX/2019 XXXX XXXX XXXX has reported that I have an open account and that I owe {$41000.00} and this has been included in my bankruptcy and has not been showing up since my bankruptcy. Now all of sudden it shows up and lowers my credit score after 2 years. When I contacted the company they gave me another company 's name of XXXX and said that they purchased it just to hold on to the account, which doesn't make sense after a discharge. But still XXXX couldn't tell me why this is showing as an open account and that I am behind on my payments.

Complaint: These are fraudulent collection opened by someone who stole my identity.
Pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809 ( b ), Validating Debts : If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection ( a ) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector. ( Emphasis added ) Therefore I am disputing this debt because I do not owe it.
Because I am disputing this debt, you should not report it to the credit reporting agencies. If you have already reported it, please contact the credit reporting agencies, inform them that the debt is disputed, and ask them to delete it from my credit report. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate, or failing to report information correctly, violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
If you do not comply with this request, I will immediately file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and Attorney Generals office. Civil and criminal claims will be pursued.

Couple years ago, I have lost my ID along with all my information which had all 3 bureaus place a credit fraud alert on my credit as a result of identity theft. As a result, on XX/XX/2018, I have disputed with the CFPB and have all the disputed items removed from my credit report. Now, enclosed is a copy of the FTC Notice to Furnishers of Information, which details your responsibilities as an information furnisher to credit reporting agencies ( CRAs ). As a furnisher, upon receipt of a consumers written request that claimed an Identity Theft, you are required to cease furnishing the information resulting from identity theft to any CRA. The Notice also specifies your responsibilities when you receive notice from a CRA, under section 605B of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, that information you provided to the CRA may be the result of identity theft. Those responsibilities include ceasing to provide the inaccurate information to any CRAs and ensuring that you do not attempt to sell or transfer the fraudulent debts to another party for collection.
Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware that I dispute the debt.
As a matter of fact, one of the disputed accounts just showed up in my credit report out of nowhere. It very reckless for reporting company to report something that was never on someone's credit report.

Complaint: , On XX/XX/2019 I noticed there was pending charge of a linked external account into my account i was not aware about. The charge was in the amount of {$9000.00} I contacted Blue Bird by american express they said they will try and cancel the transaction and contact the bank it was linked to. They put account under dispute and said investigation takes 10 business days. On XX/XX/2019 which was the 10 business day i contacted them around XXXX XXXX. They said i had to wait till the end of the day for a response of my dispute. They sent me an email at at XXXX ; XXXX that my dispute for the {$9000.00} dollars was declined from American Express Prepaid Card because based on their investigation they determined no error occurred and that the transaction was authorized. I have no link accounts to my prepaid I have been saving all year all banks if you are going to do a big transaction will contact you this bank did not do anything to help me from identity theft In addition I have contacted all 3 credit bureaus. I have contacted the police for Identity Theft. I had to change all passwords. The bank does not want to give me any information about the linked account nor where it comes from. they said to send a letter and they will help in the matter I really hope me writing to their fraud Department it will make a difference .They hung up the phone on me the last 3 times i contacted On XX/XX/2019. I tried talking to their representative and they put me on hold and then hung up. In addition, it made it more suspicious on their end. I am taking all measures possible I will like the only money to be back into my account. At this point you want to save for a better future and maybe buy a home and I felt as if my money was safe with them and now I am scared to even put XXXX dollars into a bank and wake up and have nothing. My direct deposit I had to cancel as well The agents answering phones were not helpful and just kept saying to wait the 10 days. Complaint: American Express only approves me for cards with a really high annual fees. They are trying to extort me for their annual fees. When I apply for a card with No annual fee they immediately decline me for the same reasons that they approved me for. I had over ten American Express cards in the past 5 years. My credit wasn't as good when they approved me for the cards previously. FICO score was XXXX when they approved me for several cards with the same info on my XXXX credit report. My FICO score is currently XXXX with same factors on my report.. And they are declining me. Most recently got declined for a Amex Cash magnet card. The cards American Express has approved me for in the recent years when my FICO score was XXXX are as follows. XX/XX/XXXX Approved for an Everyday Card. XX/XX/XXXX Approved for a Green Amex. XX/XX/XXXX Approved for a Platinum. XX/XX/XXXX Approved for a XXXX XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX Approved for an Everyday Card. XX/XX/XXXX Approved for a Green Card. XX/XX/XXXX Approved for a Gold Card. XX/XX/XXXX Approved for a XXXX XXXX Card. XX/XX/XXXX Approved for a Platinum Card. There is a trend of American Express only approving me for cards with annual fees. When I got approved for all these American Express cards my FICO score was XXXX with the exact same report on today. Only today my FICO is XXXX according to the Bureau American Express pulls XXXX FICO score base XXXX. If American Express doesn't resolve this issue with me I will file a lawsuit against them. They only seem to listen to LEGAL action. I spoke to an American Express rep on XX/XX/XXXX and the rep understood the concern and offered me to reverse the {$250.00} annual fee on my current Gold American Express card. The only reason American Express offered to do that is because what they are doing to me is wrong. Please look into this while I start my legal claim. I have already consulted and hired an attorney who handles issues like this.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, American Express customer service sent me multiple simultaneous emails. All the emails were entitled : Important information about your account. '' In those emails, American Express said they were, effective immediately, closing ALL of my credit card account. They closed about 6 cards in one day! I lost personal and business credit cards that I had used for many years and have been a loyal American Express customer for over 20 years. The MOST devastating thing about this was that I lost XXXX membership reward points, at a cash value of XXXX dollars. There was no explanation. We called American Express over the phone on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX trying to get the cards open. They denied this and didn't know why the cards were closed What is absolutely maddening about this is that they also said that all of the XXXX membership reward points, points that we had earned by using american express credit cards for ALL of our personal and business purchases, ALL of it was taken by american express and wiped to XXXX. We tried to reach out on XXXX. No luck. We have also sent letter mail to american express at this address : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, TX XXXX. No luck. I understand American Express can close cards, but I believe they should give me a chance to use my membership reward points or cash them out, just like EVERY other credit card company.

Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: Recently, after analyzing our travel pattern, I feel that we will benefit from both Amex XXXX XXXX and Amex XXXX XXXX. So I applied for both.
I was content when the pop up appeared and told me that I was not eligible for the XXXX welcome bonus points because I already have a XXXX XXXX Card.
However, when I applied for the XXXX XXXX XXXX, I got the same ineligibility pop up. There was no specific reason offered. I aborted the application at that time because it seemed unfair to me. I have never had a XXXX XXXX card, and I never received any kind of bonus offer with the Amex XXXX XXXX I had ( it has since then been cancelled ). Of all the conditions I read, I should have qualified for the XXXX bonus points advertised.
I then contacted Amex. After hours of on the phone and speaking to 3 customer representatives, I was not able to get a straight answer as to why. One of them filed a complaint with Amex on my behave and told me they will contact you if they feel necessary. I was not contacted. I got all kinds of replies, some was made up ( i found out later ). But one thing in common is that they all agree that they dont understand why and that the decision was generated by a computer ( huh??? ). And also that I have no one to talk to at that point and just have to take it.
I am a XXXX and a responsible spender with excellent credit score. And above all, I have been with Amex since 2008, and this is how they treat their customers???!!! This is unacceptable to me and is false/misleading advertising.

Trouble closing card
Complaint: I had an Amex bluebird card. I was using for direct deposit of my payroll. The company closed my card down and did not notify me. I found out when I tried to use my card and my transaction was declined. I had over XXXX remaining on the card and they havent given me my money nor am I able to contact them by phone they wont except my call says account closed send them a letter.
