Complaint: I opened an American Express Serve account in XX/XX/2019. After several weeks, on XX/XX/XXXX I received an email notice stating that my account was permanently suspended for " activity that was in violation of the Serve Member Agreement. '' I really don't know what that activity was, since all I did on the account was make some deposits and withdrawals. I called the number in the email, and the person I spoke with told me I was not possible to inform me the reason for the account suspension. I received a separate email a few hour later, also on the afternoon of XX/XX/XXXX, stating the following : " Any remaining funds on your Account will be returned to you in a refund check mailed to the address currently on file for the Account. '' Since that time, I have received automatic email reminders every Thursday indicating the balance in the account ( {$5.00} ), even though it is permanently suspended. I called American Express Serve at ( XXXX ) XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX to find out why the funds had not been returned to me and the gentleman I spoke with told me a check had already been issued. I waited two weeks and called again, on XX/XX/XXXX. This time, a supervisor, XXXX, told me that no funds had been issued to me and that American Express will not be returning the money. He claimed that the term of service I subscribed to give American Express the right to take the money and turn in over to the state. I could not find any such language in the agreement he cited. The representatives I have spoken with have insisted that I must write a letter to an address in Florida to know why my account was suspended. I have explained over and over that I do not need to know why they saw fit to suspend the account -- that is their concern -- I just want my money returned as I have been promised.

Complaint: American Express just sent me a modified set of terms and conditions which included a requirement that ALL arbitration proceedings and settlements must be kept secret. This is patently unfair and abusive term, as American Express is using their market power to force consumers into accepting egregious terms such as these. This clause allows the company to harm innumerable numbers of customers in complete secrecy and prevents the public and other customers from even knowing about these issues. In order to hold a company accountable, the courts have long made their records public so that everyone is aware when someone is found guilty. Additionally, the COMPANY knows ALL of the consumers and ALL of their complaints, so this is additionally a very one-sided term. Indeed, historically, XXXX XXXX was able to defraud over 3 million customers -- in no small part due to the use of arbitration. With companies like American Express now forcing secrecy UP FRONT and unconditionally, this unfair and abusive behavior is only more likely to occur as there will no longer be any way for anyone to even KNOW about that type of behavior ( it was only through an investigation by a newspaper that XXXX XXXX 's massive fraud was found -- if that was held to the standards forced by American Express, it could never come to light ).

These payment reports do not show any viable proof that these accounts were opened by me. I have never authorized anyone to use my personal information to open these accounts. None of the companies have provided me a copy of ANY original documentation required under Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) & Section 611 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) ( a consumer contract with my signature on it and verification of my identity before entering into a contract ) and under Section 611 ( 5 ) ( A ) of the FCRA you are required to promptly DELETE all information which can not be verified. The law is very clear as to the Civil liability and the remedy available to me for negligent noncompliance ( Section 617 ) if you fail to comply.

An issue has arisen that would seem to be a cause for investigation of American Expresss practices that are causing customers as I, unwarranted charges. To explain : I am an American Express credit card holder. Every other month in between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX my payments have posted 2-3 days after mailing. The same months exactly one year apart and I am assessed late fees and interest charges. The same months exactly one year apart and it takes 14 days to post my payment, whereas it typically takes 2-3 days. This is to much of a coincidence. This can not be an anomaly, something is wrong. Something is happening at American Express every XXXX causing payments to be late. If it happened to me, it has probably happened to others as well and American Express is making a lot of money collecting late fees and interest charges across the spectrum of their customers during the timeframe mentioned above. This is not right. I have the means to pay these charges but many people may not. These late charges may also be effecting peoples credit scores and thus their financial situation.

Complaint: I have a judgement lien against my house which was in my name and my ex husbands name. after our divorce American Express obtained a default judgement against my ex husband and put a lien on our home. When I had my exhusband sign over the deed of the property ( court ordered ) I was unaware of the lien on the property. Ex husband has passed away ( 2017 ) and I am in escrow right now to sell the house. American express has said to me on many occasions that they aren't authorized to disclose any information about the account without proof of being an executor of his account. My escrow company handling the sale of the house has also tried various times to obtain a demand/release from American Express and have been denied with zero cooperation from American Express. I am trying to get the debt taken care of in order to be able to complete the sale of my house and it isn't possible without the demand/release letter from American Express and is very unreasonable of them to think that everyone has an assigned executor at time of death. Ex-husband died in XXXX and didn't have anything in place for anyone to handle his affairs. I do not have the time at the moment to obtain executor-ship and I don not want to as I am not responsible for his debts, but am willing to take care of this lien as it interferes with the sale of my home, it is just incomprehensible to me as to why American Express is refusing to get paid.

Complaint: I received an offer from American Express yet when I applied, I was NEGLIGENTLY denied. Their so called reasons were ERRONEOUS. Not only do I make SUBSTANTIAL income ( ironically more than most at American Express ), my FICO score of XXXX NOT XXXX ( it is now due to American Express inquiry lowering it by 8 points ) is beyond acceptable for acquiring a credit card. I know others who received American Express cards with less than half my income and a worse credit score. Please explain that to me! Furthermore, my Financial Consultant who is handling my credit reports verified there are NO derogatory public record and ALL current accounts are paid as agreed. He verified that any past delinquencies and any collections are erroneous since I had auto paid and insurance. Therefore, if stated other wise, there is EGRIGOUS NEGLIGENCE on XXXX. In addition, please be advised, as it should be stated on my credit report, the serious delinquency American Express is trying to use as an EXCUSE is my mortgage. I was involved in a fraudulent Mortgage Company. When I refinanced my mortgage, thousands of monies paid were never applied to my mortgage thus the supposed delinquency As such, I am currently suing XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX. Hope, FHA and the FTC are aware of this scam. If my qualifications were not up to their standards then why did American Express give me an offer to apply? As such, my XXXXredit score decreased by 8 POINTS!! Obviously, I would of never of applied if I did not receive the offer to apply. This type of behavior is a shady manipulation at least. I found out after the fact that American Express is known for trapping people to apply who are expecting to be approved only to be denied.

Complaint: One of our company credit cards was stolen. The x-employee charged over {$7000.00} in personal items until we found out what was going on. I reported the fraud to Amex. I was told the fraudulent charges would be removed and it would be " investigated ''. I called many times over a period of over 3 months. Amex decided that although the card was used fraudulently, and the man was convicted of fraud by local police for taking this card and shopping with it, and the man is in prison because of this, they decided they would not remove the charges or the interest accruing over these months on the amount, and that we must pay for all of the fraudulent charges. The reason given was that this employee had been given the card previously and authorized to use it to put gas in a vehicle for company use. Any previous authorized use was authorized, and paid. Not the same thing as stealing it and identity theft, for which he has been convicted. These charges are fraud, and under the terms Amex states for it's cards, any fraudulent charges will be removed.

Complaint: I have a charge dated XX/XX/19 from XXXX XXXX for {$33.00}, my most recent statement ending XX/XX/19 did not have the $ XXXX monthly dining credit from this eligible merchant, I have also waited 4 weeks for this credit to post as outlined on the terms page. Attempted to utilize live chat on XX/XX/19, which was useless and of no help. Further, attempted to call the customer service number on back of card on the evening of XX/XX/19 and spoke to XXXX, explained the situation and after being placed on hold, was told that it must have been a " system issue '' and that she would issue the {$10.00} credit. Two days later this was never done and is not showing up on the account.
