Complaint: Dear Sirs and, or Madams : Thank you all for your time. I had been using the American Express prepaid " Serve '' card ending in XXXX for several years. On XX/XX/2019 I loaded it with my cash : {$1500.00}. On XXXX AMX cancelled the card, keptStole my money, citing a vague fraud clause in their policy and procedures. AMEX has not stated beyond the clause what they believe I did to be deemed fraudulent. When I called them, they would not give me any answers nor would they let me speak with the department that made the bogus fraud determination. I have done nothing fraudulent with their card. AMX has previously been in hot water with the CFPB for similar if not the exact arbitrary, unfair business practices. It has been almost nine months, close to a year with no resolution. I really need my money!!!! Thank you all again, XXXX.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: Hi I am using American Express Serve Card. I use it to get my direct deposits as well as purchases. Quite a few times I have noticed that things didn't add up as far as when I returned something me seeing the money added back to my card. The times that I call a rep just more so made it seem that I overlooked the return. Most recently I brought two things online on at XXXX for {$14.00} and XXXX XXXX for XXXX the money was deducted on out my account and place on hold pending the shipping. I also around the same time return an item at XXXX for XXXX and another for around {$20.00}. Because I notice a few time that I felt they were not properly returning my money. I transferred majority of my money into my saving to monitor the returns. Well now I have a negative on my account for XXXX. I called the and they told me that they took the hold off of the XXXX and XXXX XXXX and that the money went back to my account. And that when both items shipped they authorized my account again. I stated that was not the case I then told them that the only money that went back to my account was from the store return and requested to speak to the dispute department. After being on hold for like 20 mins and then the rep told me that the dispute dept refused to take my calling stating that the account was accurate. I don't agree! Please help me ...

Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Complaint: Signed up for the American Express Platinum card back on XX/XX/XXXX where it offered XXXX Membership points after spending {$5000.00} in 3 months. I would have to spend {$5000.00} by XX/XX/XXXX. I called on XX/XX/XXXX to confirm if I got the promotion and rep mentioned I did and that I am on my way to getting the promotion. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX to confirm how much I have left to spend to reach the minimum spending and to verify that I am still on the promotion. After further digging, the rep mentioned that I am not part of any promotions at the moment and that I will not be receiving any signup bonus. I've spent a total of an hour on the phone to figure out what happened and was told to contact Membership Rewards for further investigation on what happened. Unfortunately, the department was closed for the day. I called the Membership Rewards contact on XX/XX/XXXX and was helped by a XXXX XXXX. He mentioned that I will not receiving the Membership Points but he said he will file a dispute with me to upper management. XXXX called me few days later for a follow up and mentioned the decision stands and because I have had this card prior. I asked XXXX to further investigate because I did have not signed up for this card ever. He investigated and found that I indeed did not sign up for this card, but told me unfortunately it's a decision Amex has already made.

Complaint: I applied " Blue Cash Preferred Card '' by the promotional link online on XX/XX/2019. There was no message or any warning saying that I'm not qualified this promotion when I finished the application. However, I couldn't received a sign up bonus ( {$300.00} Credit ) even though I spent more than {$2000.00} within 3 months. When I contacted the customer center by online chat a few days ago, the person said the company declined the promotion for me because of misused a card or closed an account within 12 months. I haven't closed any account within 12 months after opening and the person haven't provide the exact reason for declining the promotion.

Fees or interest

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Problem with fees
Complaint: First, thank you for reviewing my complaint regarding American Express Billing. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars with American Express and I always paid my bill on time. I misplaced the the bill due on XX/XX/19 and I was 3 days late in making the payment due date ( the bill was processed on XX/XX/19 ). On my bill due XX/XX/19 I was charged {$35.00} in fees and {$32.00} in interest. I called AMEX to see if they would waive the charges having done so much business with them and only being late this one time by just three days. They refused to accomodate me. So, I paid the bill in full ( Fees and interest included ) on the due date XX/XX/19. On my next bill ( due on XX/XX/19 ) I was charged an additional interest fee even though I paid the previous bill on time with all fees and interest. I called AMEX and the representative stated that they could not waive these additional interest charges on the XX/XX/19 bill even though I paid my previous bill in full and on time with the interest and late fee charges. Again, I explained the previous bill was paid on time, in full, including fees and interest. He stated they call this " trailing interest ''. I call this a deceptive and preditory practice that should be eliminated and never allowed to protect the public from misleading and ambiguous billing pratices. I paid off the balance ( less this " new trailing interest charge '' ) and I closed my account. AMEX continues to harass me with additional interest chages and late fees when I paid my bill in full. The original " trailing interest '' charge was {$19.00}. AMEX continues to charge me late fees and interest on the interest. The latest bill states I now owe {$89.00}. This is harassment and it's wrong.

Scam Alter : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, California, USA Tel : XXXX XXXX The Fair Credit Billing Act was passed in 1975 as an amendment to the Truth in Lending Act. True to its name, the billing act 's primary goal is to establish consumers ' rights when goofs occur on the bill unauthorized charges, fraudulent charges, math errors, billing addressing mistakes and the like. The Federal Trade Commission website lays out those rights in detail. For this matter, nobody signs any contract with the Attachment of the false Charges. The Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) is the nations consumer protection agency. The FTC works to prevent fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices in the marketplace. In addition, the Fair Credit Billing Act says that youll never be liable for unauthorized charges made while your card was in your possession. In other words, if the unauthorized charges were made with your credit card account information rather than your credit card, you wont be held liable if you still have physical possession of your credit card. See Per the Federal Reserve Board 's Regulation E, Electronic Fund Transfer Act. Sue the company or take them to arbitration. Federal law permits you to sue the credit card company if it does not follow the dispute procedures discussed above or takes some action forbidden by law ( such as reporting a disputed amount as delinquent to a credit bureau ). However, your right to sue may be limited by a mandatory arbitration provision. Most credit card companies have slipped these provisions into their contracts ( probably one of those bill stuffers with tiny print that few consumers read ) that prevent you from suing a credit card company in court. I make this affidavit to establish the fraudulent use of my card. I did not give, sell, or trade my credit/debit/ATM card, nor did I give anyone permission to use my card. I have no knowledge that my spouse or minor children made transactions on or after the date of the first fraudulent transaction. I did not receive any benefit from the unauthorized use of my card. I had always associated the name American Express with quality ; but, they have lost any resemblance to quality or trust in the workplace. I DID NOT make or authorize this charge. See Attachment. Take Notice of Reinvestigation of this unlawfully matter with intent to file small claims in this matter. If you discover someone has made unauthorized charges on your credit card account, you should : Immediately contact the credit card company. ... If someone uses your lost or stolen credit card before you report it missing to the card issuer, you can only be held responsible for {$50.00} of any fraudulent charge. comparing signatures, requesting documentation to assist in validating the claim, requesting a signed written statement from the cardholder or authorized user, and requesting information about the cardholder 's knowledge of the person who allegedly used the card or of that person 's authority to do so. Electronic Fund Transfer Act The Electronic Fund Transfer Act is 1978 federal legislation that establishes the liabilities and rights of consumers whose funds are electronically transferred. Consumer protections include a mandate that all transaction fees for ATMs be displayed prominently on the machine and a prohibition on fees not properly disclosed. Consumer liability for unauthorized transfers due to card or PIN number theft or card loss is capped at {$50.00} if the customer notifies his bank within two business days. One thing that isn't clear to me is how someone got access to the card if no one is using it and it wasn't held by an employee. In your situation, I'd want to get to the bottom of this, so it doesn't happen again. The Electronic Fund Transfer Act allows banks and other financial institutions to place their own, voluntary caps on liability for unauthorized credit card charges and use of ATM and debit cards. Please take notice the Billing Address is XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX # XXXX New York [ XXXX ]. The fake Merchant has engaged in violations of the FCRA and FDCPA! Further, I may be required to comply with a court order or subpoena to give testimony. I swear this affidavit is true and understand that making a false sworn statement is subject to federal and/or state statutes and may be punishable by fines and/or imprisonment. Thank you for your help.A card is deemed compromised when its information may have been exposed to a third party without your authorization. This happens after you use it at a commercial establishment to make a payment. When unauthorized people have access to your card data through a business, or private, public or commercial office.fraudulent charges to purchase that we never had business with this company is a complete joke the Customer service is in the XXXX islands and nobody fixes the problem all they do shut the car off and refuse to investigate the fraud there should be sanctions against this company!!!!!

Can't use card to make purchases
Complaint: I have been an American Express customer for over 20 years. I have spent millions of dollars both personally and for business across many cards over those years. I currently have three cards with AMEX. Two personal and one business. Three weeks ago I received a message that charging was suspended and all three cards. I have tried to call them 10+ times and the only answer I get back is that it is under investigation. I have NEVER missed a payment and I have paid my balance off 100 % of the time. I have a XXXX balance currently. Nothing makes sense and they won't allow me to use my cards. This is causing an extreme amount of hardship to not have access to my credit cards. I have contacted the office of the president of AMEX with no luck either.

Problem with rewards from credit card
Complaint: After waiting for almost three months now from my first complaint on XX/XX/2019, the membership reward points transfer to airline still does not work for my American Express account, as I tried today, XX/XX/2019. I did apply for a new Platinum XXXX XXXX card on XX/XX/2019, but that was a month and a half ago from now. American Express claimed that this was the reason that caused a delay on my Membership Rewards review in their response to my second complaint on XX/XX/2019. But I have paid all the spending in full, fulfilled the spending requirement for the card opening bonus, and also paid the annual fee in full. I do not understand why this is taking so long, and what American Express is reviewing. I requested American Express to provide me with information that I can help them to understand my spending and the estimated review end date in my second review I submitted on XX/XX/2019, but they failed to provide me with such information I requested in their response. I have been a loyal American Express customer. But since their response without helpful information to my second complaint, I have switched to use other card providers more than American Express cards. As I mentioned in previous complaints, I have been planning for a vacation, and reward tickets go out of stock fast. If this frustration continues, I will reconsider if American Express cards suit my credit card needs.

Other problem
Complaint: I referred a friend to apply for an Amex credit card on XX/XX/2019, through my Amex Gold referral link ( one of the three ways Amex provides for referral a friend ). I supposed to get XXXX Memebership Rewards after my friend got approval. He applied the XXXX XXXX card and got an instant approval [ Note that Amex now allows cross referral, that is, I can use gold card to refer other Amex cards ). However, after more than two months of waiting, and three long calls ( XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX ), they declined to give me the referral bonus, quoting " You are not following the email referral process '' and questioned that anyone can claim they referred someone, even if I pointed out to them who I referred and his approval date. More importantly, I clearly pointed out two critical facts as described below : - I shared the referral link with my friend, which is one of Amex 's official methods. [ referral through email is not the only way : they claim that I didn't follow the referral through email ]. - My friend clicked the shared referral link, and a window pop up stating that You are referred! [ My name ] has referred you for the XXXX XXXX American Express XXXX XXXX. Your friend will receive a referral bonus if you are approved. '' He clicked the continue button, and got instant approval. If as the representative described ( I stepped away from their referral process ), how come my friend can still see the above sentences? The sentences confirmed to my friend that I will get the bonus. In any case, if I stepped away from the referral process, my friend should not receive such information, as it is misleading and false information. My friend wouldn't have continued the application process, if the window didn't show up. I am so disappointed with Amex 's customer services, as the supervisor over the phone can't answer my questions regarding their arguments, but she still claim whatever she said.
