Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: My wife tried to book our honeymoon to XXXX XXXX thru American Express Travel. They booked to XXXX XXXX XXXX and attempted to arrange travel. AMEX Travel was unable to book flights with reasonable layover. My wife instructed them to cancel the trip. On my XX/XX/XXXX AMEX statement I received a charge of {$11000.00} for the hotel. I called AMEX and they said we were inside the 30 day cancellation date and there were no refunds. I told AMWX that we would go on the trip if they could arrange airline travel. They said they would investigate it, but it could take several months. The XXXX XXXX did refund 50 % of the charge or XXXX. The reservation dates came and went. several months later they said they would not reverse the charges. I cancelled my AmEx card after 30 years. They continue to call me regarding payment. AmEx should take responsibility for the mistakes of their sister company AmEx Travel. They are policing themselves and trying to make me pay for something I didn't receive and was their mistake.

Complaint: To whom it may concern I would like to file a formal complaint against two entities who I believe have not only treated me unfairly, but have committed fraud and lied to me at every turn. Those companies are American express and XXXX XXXX. It is my belief they are taking advantage of me because of my XXXX heritage. I moved here from XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. I love America and became an American citizen in XX/XX/XXXX. I have adapted well to America but I still struggle with the language. I dont possess the language intricacies necessary to make good arguments for myself. I have been taken advantage of by both companies because of this problem I have enlisted the help of a friend to help with this letter and matter. A while back my father in XXXX was attacked by a XXXX XXXX. I had not been back to XXXX for ten years and needed to go see him in case he did not survive.
I called XXXX XXXX to arrange the trip and buy the ticket. It is hard to tell where they are at, but I believe the call center is in XXXX. I purchased the ticket on XX/XX/XXXX. I was suppose to pay XXXX. This included the ticket, financial charges, fees and taxes for round trip.. My budget was {$3000.00}. I was suppose from fly XXXX to XXXX to Alaska to XXXX XXXX. I paid on American express.
I then started receiving numerous tickets ( 13 or more ) from XXXX XXXX with open dates and also it was not round trip but one way. Instead of round trip XXXX-XXXX-Alaska and back originally supposed to be {$600.00} they changed ticket to two one way tickets XXXX-XXXX-Alaska and back Alaska-XXXX-XXXX wich leads to unauthotised extra charges of {$670.00}. I was getting to confused as to why this was happening. They also started charging me more fees. They charged my card without permission. ( statements attached ) Then more and more nonstop charges were coming through. I tried to call them and but none of them could speak XXXX and they started transferring me through numerous representatives. I was on the phone for hours. At that point I tried to cancel. That prompted them to hang up on me constantly and I never could cancel the tickets.
On the second or third of XX/XX/XXXX I called American express to cancel the trip and dispute the charges and stop the constant charges. We were up to {$3400.00}. American express credited all that money back to me and proceeded with dispute.
On XXXX XXXX XXXX charged me another {$2600.00}. then XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX they charged another {$1100.00}. By the end of XX/XX/XXXX it was {$4200.00}. Some of these were duplicate charges. For example {$200.00} and {$480.00} plus fees and taxes was charged 3 times!!! American express had failed to block them. So then I called American Express to open a second dispute and asked them why they failed to block this company. American express transferred me for hours also. American express got us together on a recorded conference call with XXXX XXXX. XXXX was the rep at XXXX XXXX. His number is XXXX. XXXX.
It was decided that XXXX XXXX had made an error and if I agreed to pay {$200.00} for XXXX XXXX and {$480.00} for XXXX cancellation fee then all would be cancelled and all additional charges would be credited back to me. All was recorded and the American express representatives informed me they have those tapes.
Then the next day XXXX XXXX charged me for {$200.00} and {$480.00} They credited nothing back. I had paid my part as agreed. This caused me to be charged late fees by American Express. My credit card was paid off on starting this mess. I was unable to go see my father who was in hospital. I finally went in XX/XX/XXXX by going through XXXX with no complications. But I had to buy different tickets on another credit card.
In XX/XX/XXXX I opened a 3rd dispute and in one week American Express refused that dispute even though they had a recorded phone call. I have never received anything from anyone nor did I get any tickets. This all totals {$4500.00} plus interest charges and late fees. I was forced to transfer this to another credit card to stop these absorbent fees and charges. I have been trying to pay this off ever since.
I am lost as to what to do, I can not afford a lawyer. I did not know what to do. Please help me.
I have enclosed the statements to verify everything here. American express refused to supply me with the recorded phone call and they told me it was to late. They admitted they have it and I would have to get a court order to obtain the call. I feel they have stolen my money in addition to charging me more after they made an agreement.

Complaint: I agreed to a debt settlement with XXXX XXXX for an outstanding amount due to AMEX. I was informed that my last payment of {$300.00} did not go through. I did not have a credit card on me at the time to resubmit the payment in. I called back with the credit card information and never heard back from the Company. I figured that took care of it because I never received written notice that there was anything wrong with the payment I called in. I even went onto the AMEX site and it showed the {$300.00} posted. That was why I did not think anything was wrong. I received a letter from a new collection agency, XXXX XXXX XXXX, stating that my debt was transferred over to them for the full amount. I called XXXX XXXX and was told it was no longer in their files and to call AMEX. I went to call AMEX and was told to call the new collection agency for more information. The new collection agency was the one that informed me that the {$300.00} did not go through and now I owe the FULL amount. I was told they could not do anything about it and all they know is that the file is now with them to collect the entire amount. I called AMEX again and was told to call back to the collection agency, XXXX XXXX XXXX, since there was nothing they could do.

Complaint: So I applied to American Express Blue Cash Everyday credit card. The promotion said " For the first {$2000.00} dollar spending in a U.S. restaurants in the first 6 months, get 10 % cash back ''. I spent {$1900.00} dollars in U.S. restaurants which is clearly marked in the " Statement '' section. However, only 1 transaction of {$17.00} was being honored as spending in a " U.S. restaurant ''.
I tried to contact the bank for more than 10 times. For 8 times, they opened a case for me and never responded later. For one time, they said that are facing technical difficulty and should be solved in 4 weeks which did not happen.
The last time I contacted them, which was today, a supervisor was talking to me and telling me that all the transactions but one are being listed as " other purchases ''. It is very clear from the statement page that those transactions are being processed as " restaurant '' purchases, but I don't know how, from the customer service 's perspective, they are being processed as " others '', which would help them not giving me the cash back they should give me. ( And other banks like discover processed it as restaurant normally ). They said it has something to do with the tax ID the restaurants are using and the customer service asked me to check with the merchant if they listed themselves as restaurant which is an impossible task to do. Plus, I spent at several chain restaurant which they have very little odd that they register wrongly. It has been 7 months since the problem starts and they can not give me a satisfying answer.

Can't use card to make purchases
Complaint: American Express placed me on a financial review and told me they would close my accounts if I did not sign a form that would authorise them to ask the IRS for my last two tax returns. I informed the customer service associate that I can't provide that. I am XXXX XXXX XXXX, and have only filed one tax return because I have been claimed as a dependent for my entire life. 2017 was the first year I filed taxes, as it is the first year I have held serious employment. However, due to school and personal issues, I used a lot of time off and my income last year was not as high as it is supposed to be anyway. My accounts are nearly maxed out, and if American Express closes my accounts, my credit will take a massive hit. I am planning on moving in with my partner into a new apartment in the next couple of months, and I will not be able to secure any kind of lease if American Express does this kind of damage to my credit report. I have been responsible and have never missed a payment, and this is the first time I have ever maxed out my cards, so I do not feel like I deserve to be treated this way. I have the ability to repay my debts over time, but I don't want American Express to cause catastrophic damage to my credit report by closing it without good cause, and still be required to pay off the closed accounts.

Complaint: I called XXXX for a car to pick me up at a particular address. The driver showed up at a different address and refused to appear at the proper address and XXXX charged me for the ride. I called American Express about the fraudulent charge and after going through many representatives ( including, but not limited to, XXXX ( last name refused to be given but purportedly in the XXXX XXXX office under ID # XXXX ) and XXXX ( purportedly her supervisor who only gave a 5-digit extension that is purportedly his ID number for employment and other purposes ) but they were unwilling to handle the fraudulent charge as it had not cleared their system. I have properly reported the charge under federal law - their refusal to take the dispute is, individually and as a company, perpetuating the fraud. I have also informed the individuals who refused to take a proper complaint that I will be traveling and do not have the time to continually chase American Express to handle a properly filed claim and it is up to them to implement their own procedures to handle a claim, which both XXXX and XXXX refused to do.

I met both terms within the directed time period and was awarded the points.

Complaint: While most complaints to do with credit are the fair credit reporting act there is a Securities commission act, that additional applies to public companies. Amex is a public traded company and falls under the SEC acts. We raise that act here, as it does apply to the circumstances. And this letter can be used by attorneys, should the response not resolve the concerns outlined herein.
Separate and apart from the fair credit reporting act, exists the Sarbarnes oxley act ( SOX ). American express as a company is compelled to follow this act. SOX act has a statutes compelling AMEX to be bound by Ethics and code of conduct.
If AMEX fail to report the FACTS regarding the new arrangements made by XXXX off shore team, the company fails to report the truth, of circumstances. To fail to report the facts and truth, is percieved unethical practice, of a public company under SOX. Public company who's obligated to ethical code of conduct under section 406 Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Section 406 require AMEX to report publicly to the SEC ethical code of conduct policies, and any exemptions to these policies.
AMEX engaged, XXXX off shore teams. These off shore teams, at large only follow the fair credit and consumer credit act. In following this act, the XXXX OFF shore team are percieved to fail to consider the SOX act and ethical obligation of reporting the verbal commitments, made with the customer. AMEX must report the VERBAL agreements made. My card, does require payment in full under the card terms. However, the LAW says verbal agreements can change terms. Under the circumstances of an Indan OFF shore team representative acting on behalf of AMEX calling into MY CELL phone, in the State of CALIFORNIA, a State that does not allow debt collection calls without consent there is a perceived violation of rights, and regulatory rules. This is a second violation. First violation being SOX ethical code of conduct.
Violations : 1 ) Calling a California Cell to collect a debt. I have not given my authorization under the communication act.
2 ) Making a NEW arrangement to " agree to pay '' changes the terms. Agreeing to pay a set portion of the card balance, AMEX is obliged to report " pays as agreed ''. Under the circumstances of myself as a consumer agreeing to pay, it raises ethical questions for AMEX to not report " Pays as agreed '' when the consumer has in fact paid a large sum in agreement to do so with AMEX. The months of XXXX and XXXX, AMEX is reporting negative on my credit. This is AFFECTING my credit, and causing me hardship in gaining a loan when I earn over {$250000.00} a year. Amex is to compensate me for this, by way of AMEX points - - or I will take legal action. I have consulted attorneys and have a good case.
While the Platinum card does require under its standard terms and conditions payment in full each month. Under conditions of XXXX off shore teams calling into the USA consumers, such as myself, to MAKE other payment arrangements to pay, it is, agreeing to new terms. It is therfore UNETHICAL not to report " pays as agreed '' on the consumers credit. To XXXX the credit report as 30 days late Misrepresentation of the FACT it was payed and the consumers integrity to continue to pay. The way AMEX is reporting states, 30 days past due, and this is inferring I did not pay at all. To infer this is unethical under SOX and code of conduct of a company regulated by the securities commission.
XXXX ) The events on the Imitate days of a phone call with AMEX XXXX off shore team and advising that I will pay in part, as per the prior arrangement with AMEX were made to do so ... and agreed. The XXXX off shore team representitive on a recorded line seeked to demand payment in FULL earlier, than the company Amex already agreed was acceptable. Because I agreed to follow the Original AGREEMENT made with AMEX to pay in part, and pay card in FULL by a set date, which I latter did, and because I did not Yield to the DEMAND of the XXXX representative, on the next DAY AMEX did a review of my account and Amex lowered my credit spending wallet. Its Alleged herin - Had AMEX have not spoken to me, no review of my account would have been done on my account and agreed payment plan continued.
But for that phone call, on that day Amex and disagreeing with the XXXX off shore team, Amex raised a review of the card the nexts days and reduced my spending abillities. To do this is Ethical miss conduct of a company under SOX. Forcing a customer to PAY earlier after making agreements to pay. And if the customer does not agree, to reduce the spend is a retaliation to the consumer.
3 ) Misrepresentations on customer care and service.
Amex alleges thait it cares for it customer, myself a customer since 1996. Yet in the next line of the letter, AMEX communicated the company will charge me {$30.00} to get my AMEX points that are rightfull mine, back. And this statement made in writing by AMEX after communication the company will additional not be reporting to the credit reporting agencies the truth of circumstances, that I did pay as agreed, verbaly with the XXXX off shore representatives. There are large ethics and misrepresentations under SOX going on in my matter. If these concerns outlined in this complaint are unsatisfactory resolved by AMEX in the companies response, I will be exercising my full rights to escalate the matter to less diplomatic measure and pass the complaint onto a securities attorney and a fair credit act attorney for review. The two attorneys will review and recommend actions. I am very concerned for AMEX behavior. The experience has caused emotional and personal distress - attorney will seek compensation for this in the event AMEX do not in this complaint.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, all my ( hundreds of thousands of ) American Express Membership Rewards ( MR ) points were frozen, per telephone inquiry advice of 2 MR representatives and a supervisor. They explained that the freeze would last up to 8 weeks for a " spin review. '' They said there was no way of knowing why my account was selected for review ( though I've been in good standing with AmEx since opening my account in XX/XX/XXXX ), and that there was no way to expedite the review and allow for my wife and I to secure airline award ticketing of limited availability for our 30th anniversary/retirement.
The freeze also looks to result in an effective forfeit of 125,000 MR points. It happened immediately after successful online transfer of XXXX points to my linked partner airline frequent flyer program ( XXXX ), and prevented transfer of XXXX points to my wife 's linked XXXX frequent flyer account. I'd have no reason to travel with XXXX without my wife on this trip.
The MR supervisor said she'd ask her " backroom '' to ask XXXX for my XXXX transferred MR points back from XXXX, but they now belong to XXXX and MR has no right to have the request granted.
Furthermore there is no information available online indicating anything other than our MR account is in good order, and I have and was told by MR representatives I may not receive anything in writing about the status of my MR account. The supervisor said that I am best not to attempt any further online transfer of points, because that will only cause the " spin review '' to last longer.
My American Express / MR account web page nonetheless continues to recommend redemption of my points for numerous awards.
Had I not made a call to MR after attempting transfer of MR points to my wife 's linked XXXX frequent flyer account ( which triggered a pop up notice that the transfer can not be made at this time pending account review ), I would never in my wildest imagination thought that there would be anything more than a short ( 20 minute - 1 hr ) review -- let alone an 8 week review, and that all my reward points were frozen -- not just those I tried to transfer.
The MR supervisor said she sent a " complaint to corporate, '' but could send me nothing in writing about it, could not identify who/what is " corporate, '' and could not tell me if I would get a response.
There is also no information about a " spin review '' in any contract terms have with American Express, or any discussion of freezes of MR points.
I ask that you do what you can to resolve this unacceptable situation, which has taken it's toll.

Complaint: XXXX client, XXXX XXXX is a victim of identity theft. He was notified by American Express bank of several accounts established with his information without his consent. A police report detailing this event was filed concerning this and was sent to American Express XX/XX/2018 however as of this date American Express has failed to send a reply concerning the outcome of the dispute results. The fraudulent accounts established are ( last four acct numbers XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ). American Express has an obligation under FCRA to provide my client with status of this investigation within 45 business days, maximum.

Complaint: ive ' had my american express card for over 15 years. my credit limit on this one card is over XXXX XXXX an amount im ' far from reaching. about a week ago, i faxed american express regarding some seven diff airline tickets at like seven diff airports withing two day window. not one signature from me verifying the charges and thats ' fine like who needs verification for that. i guess privacy concers are all talk. lem me explain myself. not once have i crossed the treshhold of my credit limit, not once did i even come close. today i tried to use my card for a recurring cell phone bill of XXXX dollars..two or three days ago i sent XXXX XXXX on my acct balance. not once did anyone from amex call me to say hey youre late on your acct but for gods sake to have them shut down my card until i pay XXXX dollars oh then the guy goes theres a XXXX dollar late fee due and next breathe goes we didnt get payment since XXXX ... are we in XXXX yet? why does consumer finance even exist. and can you imagine how many have access to my hey i have a question since my credit limit over XXXX XXXX, if i had a sero balance and bought a XXXX XXXX dollar diamond would amex cut me off at XXXX XXXX and go, dont gove that dismond just yet, we acknowledge their credit limit not XXXX XXXX but over XXXX XXXX but until they pay XXXX dollar reaching XXXX XXXX thresh hold dont give that diamond just yet what kind ofcommerce based is this?
