Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, our son advised us that we could get XXXX hotel points if we upgraded our American Express Card ( with a new card ). We called American Express and the representative said that if we paid {$95.00} to upgrade our account with a new card, we would receive XXXX hotel points, if we charged {$3000.00} on our new card in 3 months ( which we did ) and that the points would show up in our account within 3 months. When we checked our account on XX/XX/XXXX, the points were not in our account and when we called American Express, the representative said that we were not eligible for the promotion and they would not refund our {$95.00} or give us the XXXX points. We were not interested in any other perks of the new card.
I am sure that we are not the only ones who have been swindled by American Express and their fraudulent promotions. I think that they should be penalized and I hope that you can do it!
An American Express statement showing the {$95.00} payment is attached. The promotion contract was all verbal with no discussion of eligibility.

Complaint: this is in reference to my everyday card. i id not know so please dont say disclosures were sent that you would be travel fees. when i book a trip i dont want or need these. this is bogus. please reverse all and remove feature that allows the card to be billed when a trip is booked. what a joke. please dont tell me i was told what 20 years ago? never use d it for this so did not know please refund XXXX dollars of charges. asap i am not wasting my time calling i did not kow or authorize or need.

Complaint: I had American Express Plantinum and Gold charge cards, and have admittedly had a series of late payments. As of yesterday, the company have cancelled the cards which is very troublesome. While I realize that this is their prerogative, I find it hard to believe that they cancell all cards that are late on payments. I know many people that have one or both of these cards, they carry balances, and pay late but their cards have not been cancelled. None of my recent payments have been 30 days late, and I fear that this cancellation will adversely impact my credit score. I really believe that this could be discrimination based on my last name and that is quite un-American and illegal if proven true. Any assistance that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: I received a promotion e-mail from American Express Delta SkyMiles around middle of the XXXX to use there credit card when you purchase travel ticket and get the first checking luggage free.
Earlier XXXX, I called American Express to confirm this promotion and the customer service told me it's true promotion when you use there American Express Gold card to purchase the traveling ticket.
I purchased my ticket around XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I called XXXX XXXX customer service at least 3 to 4 times to confirm the American Express Delta Gold card promotion. Likewise I called American Express customer service also 4 times where one person told me that if XXXX XXXX charge me for the first luggage American Express will reimburse me. I remembered that I called both on XX/XX/XXXX before I travel out. My phone record will proof of my contact with both partners.
I had a receipt charged {$200.00} for the 3 luggage. I flew international flight and I am require to 2 luggage 's regardless. I called American Express to dispute the charge and I was giving credit with an e-mail conformation of the credit. A month later, the charge was put back to my account. I called American Express card customer service supervisor that promise to investigate and states to call me back in two weeks. Until now, there was know nobody call me to solve the issue till now.

Complaint: Approximately XX/XX/XXXX an American Express account was fraudulently opened in my name. Approximately XX/XX/XXXX I filed FTC Identity Theft Report and XXXX XXXX Sheriff Identity Theft Report. Both reports were sent to American Express and all 3 credit bureaus ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ). The fraudulent account was investigated and removed from all 3 credit bureaus. However American Express has refused to recognize the fraudulent account in my name as identity theft. I have been receiving multiple debt collection phone calls & corresspondence for the fraudulent Amex account.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2018, American Express, without warning, suddenly decreased the credit limit of my XXXX card from {$30000.00} to {$5100.00} ( while the card carried about a {$4900.00} balance ). American Express extended a special low interest offer on this card before this balance was accumulated. The offer was only accepted because of factors such as the high credit limit available, and the balance was only accumulated to that level by accounting for the resulting credit utilization. Therefore, it is believed American Express reneged on its side of the bargain after the customer accepted and took actions accordingly. This kind of unilateral agreement change can potentially destroy a customer 's credit without warning. For example, the credit utilization on this card suddenly increased from less than 20 % to nearly 100 %. This " bait and switch '' tactic appears to render AmEx 's original offer fraudulent and results in customers being thrust into a " maxed out credit card '' situation/status on their credit reports.

Complaint: When I try to transfer my Membership Rewards points to XXXX, I find out American Express freezes my account. They say : " This action will not be completed at this time because your account is currently being reviewed to make sure all eligible purchases meet qualifying criteria. '' When I reach Amex customer service, a representative told me my account is being reviewed by their corporate office, they can do nothing about it. My points are my asset, which are equivalent to cash. I don't think American Express has any rights to hold my asset at any time. I have a travel plan soon, so I need to transfer my points ASAP to redeem a flight ticket.

Complaint: American Express RAISED MY INTEREST RATE BY 5 % AND CHARGED ALL EXISTING CHARGES AT 15.99 % RATHER THAN 10.99 %. I COMPLAINED TO THIS CONSUMER PROTECTION BUREAU. NOW American Express SAYS THAT I DID NOT PAY ON TIME AND THEY DOUBLED MY INTEREST RATE TO 29.99 % ON TWO CARDS : XXXX XXXX AMEX CARD NO. XXXX XXXX XXXX AND XXXX AMEX CARD. XXXX XXXX XXXX. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE IN XXXX AND THEY AGREED TO REVERSE THE INCREASED INTEREST, BUT THE SAID THAT I HAD TO PAY THAT AMOUNT FOR XXXX ONLY AND THAT THE NEXT MONTH THE INTEREST RATE WOULD BE THE 15.99 %. Complaint: I made a payment on XX/XX/XXXX from the wrong business account ( XXXX XXXX spark ). The check was returned NSF. When I realized I made the payment from my other business account XXXX XXXX so that I would be on time. That payment posted XX/XX/XXXX/18. I put money in the XXXX XXXX account on XX/XX/XXXX and they withdrew the payment from my account but never posted to my American Express. I have called 3 times and the representatives keep telling me the check was returned. I called XXXX XXXX XXXX and they said since its on line payment the funds are gone.

Complaint: I applied for and received an American Express clear card on XX/XX/2018. There was a 60 day 0 % interest balance transfer offer included. The entire reason I applied for this card was to transfer high interest balances. During the promotional period I attempted several times to transfer balances from other credit cards, including cards from XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, and XXXX XXXX XXXX. The American Express system each time said it did not recognize the card as being from a valid issuer. Since these cards were all from major issuers, I assumed it was a system error and went back to try again. I am now outside of the 60 day promotional period and XXXX is saying I can not transfer a balance. I explained the technical issues with the representative when I called in, but she offered only an apology, with no solution. I let her know I would be filing a complaint related to this. I feel like this was a misleading promotion as the system they provided did not accept the cards from major issuers and caused a lapse in the promotional period that they will now not honor, even after explaining to the representatives the multiple online attempts in their system. I would like to be able to transfer balances in the amount of the promotional offer.

Complaint: I am trying to transfer membership rewards points to my own frequent flyer account ( XXXX XXXX ) got message " This action will not be completed because of an attempt to sell or otherwise transfer Membership Reward points to someone else which is not permitted under the terms and conditions of the program '' I am not selling these points and they are going to own frequent flyer account. My family was saving these point for once a life trip and seats might not be available if transfer is held by 4-6 weeks. We called customer service and they said 4-6 weeks without even giving time when those 4-6 weeks starts
