Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: Today I tried to resolve and issue regarding a offer under the Amex blue card. At 1st they denied the claim due to not selecting the offer. No help, just you are denied and no reason other then telling me that the offer was never dated. I selected the offer saved the offer in the app. I had to request a supervisor and eventually the supervisor advised that outlet stores are not included in this deal. The small print of the outlet store is not clearly identified and is miss leading in the disclaimer. This should be clearly identified and its not. I purchased the items at the XXXX XXXX XXXX with the intent that I would receive this discount via the Amex blue card. I would have never purchased if the card wasnt going to reduce the bill by XXXX.

Complaint: Bank : American Express Issue : False information about Balance Transfer amount while applying credit card I was looking for Balance Transfer of {$20000.00} and as I was already a customer of American Express, I spoke with the balance transfer department. They suggest me to apply American Express Blue card where there is promotion to get 0 % balance transfer for 15 month and If my credit card is approved, they will honor my request to do balance transfer of {$20000.00}. I applied and card got approved. Once I receive my card, I called the customer service and request to do balance transfer of {$20000.00}. I was surprise to see that they can not honor as they max limit of balance transfer for American Express is {$7500.00}. I request to escalate the false promises for {$20000.00} balance transfer and they file the escalation and assured that if it is an issue from customer service, they may consider my request of balance transfer of {$20000.00}. They file the escalation on XX/XX/XXXX After waiting for few days, I called again on XX/XX/XXXX to see any outcome. I spoke to Ms. XXXX ( ID : XXXX ) a supervisor and she told that it was wrong information provided by the customer service representative and they inform the customer service about it but they can not help me to provide more that {$7500.00} and will compensate {$100.00} if I do not report this case to Consumer service department.
It was such a cheap service by American Express where they misguide the customer with there false promises and try to bribe customer to avoid complain.
Most of the customer service representative does not know how to convey the balance transfer limit including Ms XXXX who consider to be a supervise and not serious about language confirming the request.
I would request to take a serious action on American Express so they stop misguiding the customer by providing false promises.

Complaint: Hi, I opened an American Express Business Platinum credit card on XX/XX/XXXX. I used the card until XX/XX/XXXX and spend more than {$30000.00}. In addition to exceeding the minimum spend, I paid a {$450.00} annual membership fee on the first month.
I decided to proactively cancel the card in XX/XX/XXXX. I wasn't told that closing the account will clawback the points I earned. One week after I closed the account, I got a Point Adjustment of XXXX which is the original promotion.
So I ended up spending XXXX on membership fee and more than {$30000.00} in regular charges and didn't receive any benefit.
I think what is advertised is very different than what is realized. Customer service should have informed me about the clawback when I called to close the account.

Complaint: I am a holder of American Express Gold Personal ( # XXXX XXXX XXXX ; expires XX/XX/XXXX ) and Business ( # XXXX XXXX XXXX ; expires XX/XX/XXXX ) Credit Cards. Although I have been an AMEX customer since XXXX, I am new to the American Express Membership Rewards ( MR ) program. On XX/XX/XXXX, I initiated my first attempted use of my MR points by transferring XXXX points to my XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) account # XXXX. I was unsuccessful in the attempted transfer and received a message indicating that my transfer was blocked because of attempted illegal transfer to an unauthorized party or an attempt to sell my rewards points. I subsequently attempted another transfer from my spouse and authorized user, XXXX XXXX and received the same error message. I immediately contacted both AMEX Business Gold Card Customer Service and XXXX and have tried to resolve the matter, receiving conflicting information. I was informed that the issue may have been because of my mispelled last name on my Business Gold Card ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX which has been corrected and I have new AMEX card on the way but am stil unable to transfer my MR points. I was also initially informed by an AMEX supervisor on XX/XX/XXXX that my experience was due to a temporary glitch that AMEX was experiencing and should be resolved in 48-72 hours. Only after multiple follow up calls was I informed that my account was under internal review and all I could do was wait for a call from their department. In the meantime, XXXX does not allow placing itineraries on hold and I risk not being able to utilize my points for my desired flights At my last contact with AMEX, the case was finally escalated with a case file of XXXX. Additionally, I have not been given a timeline within which I can expect case resolution.

Complaint: I received a hard inquiry XX/XX/XXXX When I have not appliedfkr a credit card. Inquirer date : XX/XX/XXXX. I contacted the company but to no avail. They have failed to return my calls or emails. This is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act Section 604. I believe this was not a permissible purpose for a consumer report and feel heavily discriminated against. The Equal Opportunity Act, 15 U.S.C. 1691 et seq. prohibits creditors from discriminating against credit applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age, because an applicant receives income from a public assistance program, or because an applicant has in good faith exercised any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act. I feel personally discriminated against and have no other option but to try CFPB to get a response from this creditor that has treated me so poorly.

Complaint: I visited the Amex credit card page looking to upgrade my card to something better that I could receive XXXX XXXX points faster than I was. My old card had no annual fee where as the Ascend card I was interested in was $ XXXX/year. They were offering XXXX points for new members but in the fine print of the offer it stated that as a existing member I would not receive that much but to call Amex customer service and see what I could get. During the verbal conversation with the Amex rep she stated that if I upgraded I would receive XXXX points instead after I spent {$3000.00}. I thought it was a good enough deal between the points and other XXXX XXXX upgrades. After a few months no points were credited and I started a complaint with Amex. I spoke to a few different reps over many phone calls when I heard nothing from them. One rep named XXXX said she could she on her screen where the mistake was and as soon as her supervisor returned she would call my cell phone and confirm my points. Of course this never happened and Amex denied my claim. I have been a loyal Amex fan for thirteen years and now that I have been the victim of a " bait and switch '' sales tactic by them I question if I will remain a customer. I have filed a complaint with the XXXX which I'm awaiting to hear from. All I want is the XXXX points I was promised and that's it. I hope you have better luck dealing with Amex than I did and for a company who raves about their customer service I'm totally not impressed. Thank you.

Complaint: I applied an American Express Gold credit card about XX/XX/2018. During my application I received information that I will receive XXXX bonus points after I spend XXXX dollars. I did not receive any notification that I would not receive this bonus. After application. I called customer service for three times to check my bonus, all I got is that I will receive this bonus, it just need time to process. Especially my third call, the manager even discussed his boss, and they both did not find any reason why it took too long to process. He said everything looks correct, I just need to wait for 5 to 7 days for processing. After that I received a phone call in 5 days. I was told they can not give me the bonus because there was a pop up during my application said I would not receive the bonus ( actually not ). The person who gave this information also told me, this decline just connect my account all the time, all the customer should see that. If it is true, why during the past three times phone call, there was no one see this decline in more than 2 months? I doubt if they just added my information there during the 5 to 7 days ago.

I contacted XXXX about the problem on services not being met XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX. Each time I was just ignored about the problem of services not being met. They promised me certain outlined items they would do for me and a guarantee if I did certain outlined items they would stick with me until I made my money back. The company XXXX was finally shut down on XX/XX/XXXX by the Minesota FTC because the company was a scam. The government froze all their assets.
I have sent paperwork, invoices, contract, guarantee and multiple items of paperwork to American Express credit card company. A gal from the executive office said she would review the case and send me a letter explaining everything. I received letter, but nothing was explained. It was just a generic letter telling me no details. Why should I have to pay back money for services promised to me that were not met when I met all their conditions? I spoke and left messages with the executive office. They said they would resolve it in a fair matter to me. XXXX amount credited to my account is not fair.
When I last spoke to American Express dispute department they said they were waiting to here back from the merchant XXXX. The owner will never respond, the FTC has shut her business down and frozen all her assets.
