Attempted to collect wrong amount

Complaint: I took out a lease with this company. I set up a bank account with them to pay at the store. I set up a catch up plan which was supposed to take care of my past due balance and advised them to delete the other banking info because it was not the correct account. I was assured they would do that. I did not have the amount agreed upon coming out of my account so upon logging into their online portal I see that they have a bank account listed for a prior lease I had years ago with them that they were attempting to bill, not the debit card I provided or even the bank account i originally signed up with. They attempted to tell me that it was just the name of the bank was changed, not the account number. But they charged me numerous fees in relation to the wrong account getting billed that they refuse to refund, have reported it as late 30 days on my credit report causing my score to drop XXXX points. I also find that using an account for a prior lease is a gross violation of my financial information and they would not take any responsibility for this and seemed like they were trying to cover it up that they did not input the correct payment information after numerous customer service requests and then were trying to collect payment by whatever means necessary with an account that was not in the lease agreement.

Complaint: The company was not forthcoming with information that I had NSF fees due to them pulling and re pulling a payment. The company charged me every time that a payment was ran, while my bank shows that the only attempts made were successful. This cost me XXXX $ at the end of the line of credit. There was no notice on my account that anything was wrong. I was told that I could change the due date later, but as I showed each payment went through successfully I did not feel this was necessary. The way they charged these fees was very deceptive and they would only waive 45 %. This company is fraudulently charging NSF fees to make more money.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I purchased the following furniture ( a dining room set, a bedroom set, and a coffee table ) at a furniture store in XXXX. I was told that I was qualified to purchase the furniture items on credit and that I didn't have to pay the full amount for 6 months. I was also told that the documents pertaining to that purchase would be sent to me either in the mail or via email. Few weeks later I did not receive any documents so I called the person that I purchase the furniture from. He told me not to worry about it, that I would get it soon and that I had 6 months to pay. As time passed by I got busy with life, as Massachusetts was a new XXXX for me and working a new job. In XX/XX/2018 I called the person from the furniture store where I bought the furniture and that's when he mentioned that it was a third party that lent me money to buy the furniture and that I would have to get in touch with them to find out the statements in regard to the purchase. He then told me the company is called XXXX and then gave me their phone number. This whole time XXXX was taking $ XXXX on my account every XXXX weeks and by then they had already taken a total amount of {$4600.00}. The original price for the furniture was {$3200.00}. They also then told me that there was a remainder of {$2500.00} that I would have to pay to finish paying on the account. I spoke with XXXX representatives at XXXX about the matter and they both told me that I have to pay at least {$1200.00} to close the account. Due to financial hardship I don't have that amount of money to pay XXXX considering that they've already taken an excess of {$1300.00} on top of the original price of the furniture. Since then XXXX has sent my account to collection and that has dropped my XXXX XXXX tremendously. I tried to resolve the issue with them and even offer to pay {$700.00} to pay off the account and have the matter rectify on my credit report but XXXX refuses to work with me. At this point I would like XXXX to stop their deceptive practices towards the consumers and place my account in good standing with the credit bureau as it should have been.

Problem with fees charged
Complaint: On XX/XX/2018, I went to XXXX XXXX located at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, TX XXXX. I was told by XXXX, the lady at the desk that it would be easy to finance the purchase through acima financing, that way I could pay off the tire in three to four months and my payments would be around {$41.00} dollars each payment. Little did I know that I was signing up for Leasing those four tires. XXXX did not disclose at any time that the tires were for a Lease/Rental. XXXX told me that acima would be sending a email for me to sign. Little did I know that it was Rental/Lease Agreement. Of course it's on my phone which is smaller. Personally, I have always thought, who would be XXXX enough to Rent tires. Evidently, I did and did not know until the payments of {$41.00} seem to extend beyond the three to four months which XXXX had explain to me. I thought to myself, those tires should be paid off by now. I called acima in early XX/XX/XXXX, who informed me that I had signed a lease with a 90 days option plan to purchase the tire and that the sales person should have disclosed that this transaction was a Lease/Rental and that she would get the acima to call and let them know. I think this has been done before to other may not have understood what they signed. I can't believe I had gotten taken. I work at a bank in the loan department and should have esign the paperwork. By this time the tire were already on my car because the email arrived much later in the evening after the work was completed. At the time there was not any signage inside or outside the store that that specifically states you can Lease or Rent tires. XXXX, made the sale, but failed to disclose that my transaction was a Lease Rental of tire. acima informed me that unfortunately I should have paid the tire off withing the first three to four months and that I still owned over {$620.00}. The Lease/Rental of the tires will cost me over {$1000.00}. There is a small brochure which states " No Credit Needed '' 90-day Payment Option with an Easy Payment Guide which tells how much your payments will be. This Brochure regarding payment terms is inadequate. Whoever sales you the merchandise, should be required to state that the transaction is a LEASE/RENTAL OF MERCHANDISE. In no way was these word ever use. This is clearly a deceptive practice among retailers such as this as there were many compliant on acima once I google it.

Difficulty submitting a dispute or getting information about a dispute over the phone
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I went to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX located on XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX IN XXXX their phone number is XXXX XXXX, I was shopping for bedroom furniture, I saw a headboard, night stand and dresser I liked it was listed for {$690.00} cash, the sales man who I believe owns the store advised me there was an option for financing option, I just had to fill out an online application if i had a checking account, I filled out the application I was approved for {$750.00} financing.
I tried paying {$50.00} down payment with a XXXX card it was rejected my girlfriend was with me, the man then said if u can pay {$63.00} to him he will use his card we did that, deal was closed I picked up my furniture, he said since I took financing option my total was going to be {$820.00}, he gave me a receipt for that same amount I still have it, to my surprise a week later I received an email from the Acima finance company stating my total was {$1800.00} with bi-weekly payments of $ XXXX tax it says, this is predatory lending these terms where never discussed, there was never a loan estimate provided, Ican provide copies of receipts and the email I received at your request

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I purchased tires from XXXX XXXX XXXX and decided to use Acima Credit Financing because of the offer of 90 days interest free. I understood that I had 90 days same as cash and that I could pay it off early. This was all done online with the help of the sales person at the XXXX XXXX XXXX. The sales person got my information from me and typed it in himself on his computer. The sales person had me read the information on the screen and it was very confusing. The sales person discussed with me the 90 day financing and stated that if I didn't pay the amount off in 90 days there would be high interest on the money owed after the 90 days. So I did what anyone would do and hit a box on his computer screen that did a digital signature. My understanding and assumption was that Acima was like a credit card with a 90 day interest free period. At no time did I realize this was a lease. I made 3 scheduled payments of {$250.00} through automatic payments through my account on XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, and XXXX XXXX. There were no issues with these payments. Additionally, I made a {$50.00} payment on the day I took out this financing. Then I made an Online payment to the company through their website of {$350.00} on XXXX XXXX. There was no confirmation number that I recall, just stated that the payment went through. On XXXX XXXX, I made what I thought was my final payment of what they said I still owed Online through their website of about {$370.00} again the only confirmation I got was on their page that said my payment went through. All of the payments went through with no issues except the last payment. All of the payments show up on their website when I login except the last payment. I put the payment through their site just like I had done the previous Online payment. I am not sure how the last payment managed to not go through. On XXXX XXXX I went Online looking for the receipt for my last payment and to show I had paid it off. When I logged into their website I noticed they showed I did not pay it off and that I now owed them {$1900.00} with early payoff being {$1400.00}. I called them to see what was going on. They stated that the one payment that I made of {$350.00} in XXXX was just an early payment for XXXX and XXXX and that's why I did not get an email confirmation. I told them these payments were not " prepayments '' but were to pay off the financing. I asked them why I was not getting receipts for the additional Online payments I made and they said it was all on their website, which it isn't. I asked them what happened to the {$370.00} I paid through their site and they claimed there was no such thing. It still has not come out of my bank account. However, the {$350.00} " prepayment '' has gone through my account. I acknowledged that the last payment had not come out of my account at this point and stated that I would attempt it again to pay off the loan. They said " NO '' and that I now owed the {$1900.00} because it was now past the 90 day promotion time. I told them I would only pay what was left and some interest. They told me that the contract was a " lease '' and they would come and get my tires. I asked them what happened to the almost {$1100.00} I had already paid. They stated again the contract was a lease and I now owe the {$1900.00} in addition to what I already paid. I told them this was a scam and that I wanted to talk with a manager. I asked the same questions to another person the " manager '' and was told the same thing. They threatened me with reporting this to my credit. I asked if there was any wiggle room to negotiate the amount. They again said I owed the {$1900.00} in addition to what I already paid. This went on for a while. I got nowhere. This seems to be a " legal '' scam because they call it a " lease ''. I made the last payment Online through their site of about {$370.00} and they did not run it through. The site said that my payment went through so I had no reason to question it. Now they want to stick me with the " lease ''. This is much more than the original loan. How can they get by with that? That would make my amount be {$3000.00} for tires. This is ridiculous. They did not run the last payment so they could make me pay the larger amount. With them stating that the {$350.00} payment I made in XXXX only counts as " prepayments '' for XXXX and XXXX automatic payments leads me believe they are trying to keep me from paying off the financing in the 90 days and did not run that last payment of {$370.00} intentionally. This kind of financing should be illegal and there are some questionable tactics taken by Acima Credit.

Debt was paid
Complaint: Hello, my name is XXXX XXXX and about a year ago I bought a bedroom set furniture from this store called XXXX XXXX they basically are similar to a XXXX store but have other items in which you need to have a contract for. I am not fluent in english at all ( In fact my niece is writing this for me as she knows English and is also a XXXX graduate ) so what they explained to me and what I later found out was in the contract don't match up. They basically told me that I had a period of 90 days in which I could pay a lower amount ( {$1200.00} ) for the furniture and it would be mine, if the 90 days passed I had to pay a higher price ( {$2500.00} ) making a payment of about {$47.00} dollars per week. I made an initial " downpayment '' of {$1100.00} which meant I had only {$150.00} left to pay then for the next four weeks ( clearly less that 90 days ) I made payment of {$48.00} dollars which even left me with a surplus of money of about {$40.00} but I didn't mind because that meant the furniture was mine and I no longer had to pay. However they kept making me pay claiming taxes and interest. I honestly did not count the payment and once added up, up until now I've paid {$2500.00} which exceed the original payment and also should not be with interest as it has not been a year ( they told me interest build-up after a year ). I also last month got a letter from acima, a debt collector, that told me I owed about the same amount of money and that I never made an initial downpayment. They contract also keep contradicting itself in many parts and is not accurate to what I was told. They made me sign the contract and 'translating '' the document to me, but I didn't know I was signing a contract for debt collection and money stealing so they scammed me out of my money. I don't wan na continue paying for something I've payed more than enough money for and when I made contact with XXXX XXXXl they told me it was not their problem and I should deal with acima which makes no sense as I was never informed of this. I spoke with acima and they told me to ask XXXX XXXX about this debt because they have to collect it. It makes no sense and XXXX XXXX tells me the only other way to solve the money issue is for me to return the furniture as it was like-a-lease which again they never told me it was that. Basically both companies have me going form one to the other without providing me a clear answer. This is no fair and I don't wan na seek legal help as I can't afford it. I honestly just want to not have to pay any of these companies anything, they can keep the money they've stolen.
