Problem with the payoff process at the end of the loan

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Personal line of credit

Complaint: I opened two separate accounts with this company Acima. One was a Jewelry account and the other was a furniture account. I had a discrepancy with Acima over the the date the furniture was received which in turn would affect my 90 day payoff amount. I spoke with their supervisor he quoted me a payoff amount as long as the date I quoted them, based off when I received my furniture. I payed the exact amount he quoted me to pay the account off. I called back to check on the account a few days later and there was another charge, called backs again after that about a week later and the charge kept increasing. At the time no one would close the account even after listening to the previous conversations that were recorded. I became frustrated and let them know I would not pay any more money on either account ( including the jewelry account ) until the situation was rectified. The account was finally rectified weeks later but they had reported to the credit bureau a 30 day late payment. Both accounts have been paid and cleared but the 30 day pay is still on my report and has dropped my score by 50 points.

Struggling to pay your loan

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Installment loan

Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXX I rented a stove from a retailer in XXXX, NC. I made the down payment in cash at the stove and was told I would have to finance the balance with Acima Credit. I asked the retailer if I didn't want the stove would they come get it and no further charges would be assessed, he replied yes but the balance would be paid in 6 months. After completing the application and the immediate approval from Acima, I was told the completed copy of the agreement would be mailed to me once the stove was delievered to my home.I was required to draft the payment from my XXXX XXXX XXXX checking account. I received a notice of how much the approval was for via postal service. I did not receive any further documents from Acima either by mail or electronically by email. In XXXX I called to make sure the month of XXXX would be the last withdrawal of the payment from my account. I was told by the customer service agent that there were additional payments that I did not agree to with the retailer who communicated with Acima. At that point I told the agent to send the retailer to pick up the stove because I refused to pay that amount for a used stove.I was instructed to look for an email with in 72 hours of the call, take pictures of the stove, submit them and the retailer would be to pick up the stove in a two week period of time. When this did not occur by XXXX I called spoke to XXXX XXXX and was told the agent just did not follow up. Again I was told to follow the same procedure and did, to wait for the retailer to pick up in the two weeks. I did not hear from them and decided to wait to hear from them. I received a call from an agent in customer service on XX/XX/XXXX and after chewing him and his company out was told to for the 3rd time to follow the same procedure, which I did. Today XXXX XXXX I called Acima to find out why the retailer had not come to get the stove, since it was within the 72 hour time frame and was told Acima charged the account off XX/XX/XXXX and because of the charge off I could not return the stove and the amount of XXXX plus had to be paid. This is a deceptive financial practice they have obviously gotten away with many times with unsuspecting consumers. I was very mad and informed the agent of my intent to file a formal complaint with every agency to stop them from further victimizing consumers. I will gather all documents and submit them to the apropriate agency upon request

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Difficulty submitting a dispute or getting information about a dispute over the phone
Complaint: I financed some furniture through Acima credit and they tried to hijack my checking account and have hijacked my credit report. They initially altered the terms of my original contract without my consent and increased the agreed upon billing amount from {$40.00} per week to {$170.00} per month. After several arguments about this over the phone where a representative tried to convince me that this is what I had agreed to, I requested a copy of the contract and was repeatedly denied a copy of this. Meanwhile, I received several phone calls daily from various unidentifiable phone numbers from people who identified themselves as representatives of Acima demanding bank account information or debit card information to resume payments. I made these people aware that I do not disclose this information to anyone for any reason and requested that a copy of a billing statement be mailed to me. They once again repeatedly refused claiming that they were a paperless company. I made several attempts to remedy the situation over the phone and was even denied a physical address where I could remit payment without having to provide information over the phone. This went on for several months. The entire time Acima has reported negatively to all three credit bureaus about this account while refusing to bill me or accept payment in any form other than over the phone.

Charged fees or interest you didn't expect

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Installment loan

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, we went into a Business called the XXXX XXXX located at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, Oklahoma XXXX phone number XXXX. We noticed a dining room table and chairs that we had previously looked at on sale for XXXX. Previously, we had made a purchase through this company. We purchased a desk that we put on lay away interest free for 90 days. The store kept the product at their warehouse until we paid the desk off. Once we paid the desk off we picked the desk up. So, we had zero issues with our previous experience with this company. So on XX/XX/XXXX, the owner and the employee informed us that there was a program similar to the one we used before that allowed us to take the product home that day. We did not have any reserves because our previous experience was positive. I was sent a link to apply for the credit and I filled it out. The store received confirmation of the credit application, and I was informed that I had a credit limit of XXXX. We were not trying to get into a financial obligation that we could not pay off in the 90 days. So, we just took the table. However, we did not receive any paper work or terms from the store. In addition, the invoice only showed the XXXX without any tax added. I informed the manager that the invoice did not show any taxes and that this was wrong. He informed that the company will add the taxes to the payments. I asked for disclosures concerning the loan because I did not receive anything via e-mail or in person. I was told by the owner and the worker that we would be able to access those details once we registered our account with ACIMA online. https : //www.acimacredit.com XXXX However, we were assured that if we paid the balance in full before 90 days that we would not have to pay any interest. Below I have listed the spreadsheet of what we paid through our checking account. The total was {$54.00} processing fee ( we were informed that this was not refundable the same day we applied for the loan ) and {$490.00} worth of payments ( lost according to the company because we had been only been leasing the table if the note extended beyond the 90 days ). We knew our 90 days were coming to an end. So, we wanted to pay this note off. We could not contact customer service on XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX because it went to a dictated message. It was later in the evening due to the time at which I got off work. So on XX/XX/XXXX, I logged onto my ACIMA account. I sent a payment of {$500.00} through my checking account which cleared. Also, I initiated a payment of {$580.00} through XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX said that ACIMA would initiate the actual requests for funds..but it showed that a request had been started ). We wanted to make sure that the payoff cleared and we assumed that we would figure out the details when we could actually make contact with the company. Then, we called the company discuss the fact that we could not contact a real person to get the actual payoff so we paid the amount showing once we logged onto our online account. However, we had pay off issues due according to the customer service representative. So, I discussed the other issues I had with the company : 1.the lack of disclosure and not being notified of the terms of the account or real costs of doing business with them. 2. Not having a Schumer box as required by the TILA-Truth in Lending Act. 3. Not being able to access our full credit history once we logged onto the account online..the only information being given was last payment received ... the company told us that they were a total paperless company. 4. After spending 2 hours on the phone with the company..I told them that they were committing fraud ... .a. they claimed that we were leasing the table ... so none of the payments were applied to the principle 5. the company claimed that they did not actually charge interest because if the payment was not paid in 90 days it was automatically extended to a 12 month agreement and the payments were considered lease payments. I guess the structure and nature of the loan can change from lease to loan whenever it is convenient for the company. This was after I told them that we were charged {$490.00} in interest since the payoff after 91 days ( 90 plus one day ) was XXXX XXXX {$500.00} plus the XXXX XXXX payment of {$580.00} totaling a pay off of {$1000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX even though the original cost of the table before tax was {$920.00}. In addition, I told them that what they were calling lease payments was the same thing as what rent a center calls rent ( in some paperwork we have it called rent ) ; however, I told them that places like XXXX and that the structure of the loan ( which we never received paperwork on ) was deceptive in nature and the advertisement was similar in nature to what XXXX and XXXX XXXX offered which is 90 days no interest ) also this is what the owner of XXXX XXXX told us would happen. However, this is not what happened. In addition, they are still trying to block the transaction from being considered complete. 6. the company told us that if the payments clear that we would be entitled to a refund for a 100.. the Seven day extension fee. I asked where I could find a Schumer 's box on our account ( since they were paperless ) that listed the {$100.00} dollar fee. The customer service representative informed me that there was not list. He told me that the {$100.00} was a one time courtesy fee provided due to the extenuating circumstances. He said that if all the payments cleared the {$100.00} dollars would automatically be deducted from the refund due from the 90 days interest free program. I told the customer service representative that I was recording the phone call and I do have the recording of the phone call. 7. On XX/XX/XXXX a withdraw was requested on behalf of ACIMA in the amount of XXXX from our checking account through XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX..it was denied due to not having sufficient fund. So, they attempted the withdraw after we talked to them on the phone instead of using the XXXX XXXX account. The previous amount of {$500.00} from the same account cleared on XX/XX/XXXX because the information entered was from my debit card. They have our bank account due to payments being automatically withdrawn for the biweekly payments. In summary I am astounded at the shady business practices of this ACIMA and XXXX XXXX. They have personally dealt with me deceptively. I believe it was so that I could not complete the payment to pay the account off so they would not have to refund me the 400 something dollars of overpayment. My XXXX XXXX confirmed that a transaction was initiated but not completed by ACIMA. It is an attempt to defraud me of even more money. Furthermore XXXX XXXX did not given me all the information for this financial product. However, we spoke with the district manager of XXXX XXXX in XXXX Oklahoma on XX/XX/XXXX in person. We received a whole lot more information from the manager this time. So, I believe that XXXX XXXX is acting as an Agent on behalf of XXXX credit. They probably have a more complicated business arrangement. I told the manager that we had other financing options for the table ; and, we would have never entered into an agreement with this company..also, I told her that we never received information concerning this product. I told her that her company was defrauding many, many people. 500 in interest for 3 months is {$2000.00} in interest for one year on a product that cost {$920.00} this equals $ XXXX or 217 % interest for one year. Also, I told her for a paperless company I can not find my agreement or terms of this agreement when I request it from the company or when I log onto the company account. Furthermore, the act of initiating a withdrawal from our checking account in the amount of XXXX is fraud because the other amount of {$500.00} from the checking account was done using a debit cart. However, ACIMA had our checking account on file due to the biweekly payments of {$83.00} being taken out of our account. We think the intent of this is to harass us due to the nature of our negative interaction. Also, we still can not access the contract and terms of the agreement..even though ACIMA claims to be paperless. Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Public record information inaccurate
Complaint: Acima credit has reported an account that I co-signed on 3 years ago and failed to notify me about the action. I have never heard of a company that reports to the credit bureau without notification. I feel this is an illegal billing practice and I should have been notified. I also filed bankruptcy in XX/XX/2018 which was discharged and could have included this account. However it was not on my credit report at the time. I am told by the company nothing can be done. This is very unethical and unfair.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: In XX/XX/2018, I financed a bed and 2 chairs from XXXX XXXX through Acima Credit out of XXXX Utah. The initial agreement was to pay off the debt in 90 days. As my luck would have it, I was unable to pay off the debt in 90 days. Acima wanted to charge me 3 times the amount the furniture was worth. I wasn't having that. I have fought with them every month since then. We were able to set up a settlement amount and I was to receive a confirmation email regarding that within 48 hours. Never received the email. They tried on several occasions to withdraw money from my account before agreed date, overdrawing my account. With no confirmation email, I have no way to prove otherwise. I was supposed to make the final settlement payment the XXXX of XXXX and they tried to pull " the settlement payment '' out 2 weeks later. I contacted Acima through chat and screen shot the entire conversation. They are nailing me for an extra {$500.00} beyond the first settlement. Because I didn't get a confirmation email, I didn't have proof they were screwing me for more money. I demanded an email that same day. They said it would come to me in 24- 48 hours. It took 2 weeks and 5 phone calls and still no email even though I was told over and over that the email had been sent. I again resorted to chatting through the website again so I could screenshot the last agreement. They cut my chat off after I demanded that the confirmation email that was supposed to be sent to me 2 weeks ago be sent immediately. They told me that couldn't happen because it was all computer generated, but they had record that the others had been sent. They refused to send me those as well. I finally received the confirmation email on the XXXX stating the dates that they would pull money from my account for the final settlement AFTER I threatened to report them to the XXXX and CFPB. This company is greedy and dishonest. They don't send the emails and then suck you into a new settlement for more money. They should be shut down.

Complaint: A lease was generated for a Washer and Dryer from XXXX XXXX ( order number XXXX ) and it was for a set of blue washer and dryer. See invoice attached for the specification of both machines. Upon measuring my closet, I realized the machines we're not going to fit, so I did NOT accept delivery or pick up these machines. I reached out to Acima to elaborate on the issues I've had and Acima responded with a rental contract for the machines, as it is in direct correspondence of the blue washer and dryer ( see invoice for correlation ). Acima is wrongfully reporting to my credit bureaus and pursuing an alleged rental agreement for this blue washer and dryer which I did not receive or ever have in my possession. Acima is and continue to cause me stress and anxiety and refuses to comply. I also reached out to the company that created this agreement and invoice, and they refuse to work with me. See the invoice for the machines and notice no signature for delivery. Additionally, notice the corresponding lease agreement numbers on both documents.

Complaint: I purchased a mattress through Acima credit. I was supposed to receive an early buy out in 3 months. The company never contacted me though mail, phone, or email. I called the company today to see what was going on. They said they had sent emails and they had all " bounced back '' even though the email on file was correct. I never received a copy of my contract or even an account number. My financed amount was {$350.00} and now my account is over {$400.00}! I have made every payment though the auto draft through my bank account but they will not offer me the original buy out even though I never received any information on it. They were clearly negligent. They even admitted that they never tried to reach out to me. This credit company seems like a scam to me! They told me their hands were tied and refused to make the original buy out deal with me even though there is clearly an issue on their end with correspondence.
